If I could give ZERO stars I would have. Because that was the amount of work this "company" did. In reading the reviews, I had a similar experience. I was told initially they didn't have room for my RV and wouldn't for a couple of weeks. This continued for about a month and a half. Then they said they could come to my residence (about a 10-15 minutes drive from the shop) to give an estimate for the small fee of $300!!!! Are you kidding? When I said no, they made room. The RV had a rooftop water leak, which they knew. After we took it over to them, they let it sit out in the weather for TWO MORE MONTHS!!! Uncovered!!! In the springtime. (More to come on this) I called every week or two to check on progress and was told the same thing every time. Something to the effect of "We are backed up and are waiting on parts for the job ahead of yours, but we should get those in this week and have your trailer in the shop the week after." Ok! Great! But I heard this from March until May when I called my insurance company and told them I needed to get it to a shop that would actually work on it. I gave a courtesy call back to them to leave them a message that I was having it taken to another shop. A couple of days later I got a call from the owner who yelled at me for hanging up on his wife, (who was also the lady telling me 2 weeks for 2+months). He wanted to know what day I spoke to her so he could charge me storage fees for the trailer from that date until I picked it up. I was flabbergasted! I told him I would pick it up that day after work. He said he would have it all ready for me to pick it up. I rushed home and when I arrived at the shop, my trailer was not there! I was stunned. I was told by a nice young man, who is the son, that they trailer had been taken by another tow company to the shop I had it going to in Oregon City. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!? Who gave permission for that? Not me! So, calls were made and actually STANTON TOWED IT THERE!!! No one called me to tell me this, no one asked my permission, not even a text saying not to come they had it handled. So, I asked the poor kid to confirm that the new shop had the keys (random thought) He was on the phone with his dad at the time and asked. The owner told the kid, we didn't leave keys when we dropped it off. I knew that wasn't true and told the kid. I called and spoke to the owner again. I ensured that they indeed DID have the keys as both parties that dropped off the trailer had confirmed they had left the keys. He told me they were lying. (NOT GOOD) Meanwhile, the mom, called the son and told him that IF they did have the keys, they would be in the key box in the office. I could hear her in the background of my phone call as well as over the kid's phone. He checked and guess what he found. Our keys! As we were driving out, I saw the Stanton big rig exiting the freeway, from the direction of Oregon City, towing another big rig and trailer. Our trailer was a bumper pull, no need to tow it with a big rig, unless you wanna get paid BOTH WAYS by the insurance company for going to the Portland area. I honestly don't know how they still exist. He made a point to tell me that they had been around and were an "institution" in The Dalles area. They are the ONLY shop around for big rigs. And I will definitely NEVER recommend them and drive the extra distance to go ANYWHERE else for trailer repairs. 0 out of 10. Negative stars if I could. Borderline fraudulent, but I'll leave that up to the insurance investigators. Multiple lies, pawn offs, disregard for customer service, no communication, acting without permission, doing things they weren't told to do with my trailer and on and on. read more

when I was stuck on an icy mountain and no tow truck within 2 hours would help us Stanton was willing to help no matter the distance, they just wanted us to be safe. in the end they talked us through how to safely maneuver it on our own and it felt like I had an angel helping us out who truly cared. It has been some time since I had my 2005 Ford E350 Super Duty DIESEL (former shuttle bus) towed into Stanton Truck and RV Repair. What an ordeal! I was not ready to submit a review until now. Yes, this is a condensed version! The owner claims he diagnosed my vehicle as needing replacement engine because of the noise "coming from the engine" and "there's a large puddle of oil on the ground." He claims, "I ALWAYS evaluate all the vehicle systems." The reality is, he did nothing but let my vehicle sit on his lot for 6.5 Months! Although they always answered the phone, the owner put me off continually. I believe he did not have the skills needed and he was afraid to do the work. When I arrived with my vehicle, I told him that I lost my brakes. Diesel systems are on a VACUUM system, something he should have known and checked. I live in Indiana. It was a challenging enough situation as it was without working with someone who did not know what to do and would not listen to anyone else. I consulted several diesel mechanics who told me that "a bad vacuum system can make a HECK OF A LOT OF NOISE!!" My local diesel mechanic volunteered to speak with him and actually called Stanton Truck and RV Repair, but Mr. Stanton refused to have the conversation. That is when Mr. Stanton told me to just "get your vehicle off my property, take it to a junk yard". Yep, he was just fine with my financial loss if I scrapped it. Mr. Stanton refused entry, on two occasions, to 2 different tow truck companies, who had driven nearly 80 miles to The Dalles from Portland, OR. The first truck driver had to call the police due to Mr. Stanton's threatening him. He said he had to jump into his truck and lock the doors. He then made me pay $300 for his (non-) diagnostics. He did not even pretend to have, or give me a statement for this work or say what his diagnosis was. I had to pay this "get out of jail" extortion fee before he would let a 3rd tow truck company retrieve my vehicle. I had it towed to Western Bus in Boring, OR. where they actually did the proper diagnostics, and found that the "vacuum pump backing had blown out." Finally, a company that knows how to diagnose and repair. I got EXCELLENT service and they actually held to their estimated timeline getting the work completed, and stayed connected with me on how they were progressing. I was so thrilled that had them do some other repairs. I disputed the charge with my CC company. Stanton never responded to my bank, so I got the money back, thank goodness. Mr. Stanton needs to stick to roadside assistance and towing, which is what he did before he took over this family business and pretends to be an experienced diesel mechanic. I do not care that he did not know what to do, but he needed to do the "due diligence", i.e., speak with my or another mechanic to figure out the problem. See pictures of my vehicle which I drove back to Indiana with no problem with my engine!! Speed limit was 80mph ;) (Only issue: check engine light (been on forever) revealed "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive" which I did not ask to be fixed by WB.) read more

Stay away!! these People are thief's. My truck was leaking Diesel so i checked online and called them but that was my mistake.The owner was sounding very genuine before.The guy came in repair truck but instead fixing he took the part with him to the shop.When i asked shop for stolen part the owner said he has throw part in trash because it was of no use and new one will take 3 days to one month. I called other company next day and get the truck fixed. When we were about to leave next day after the truck fix this Stanton Towing mechanic came in his work truck and blocked our truck stating he has started so only him can fix the truck. Actually a day before he has stolen working part from the truck and was trying to make money out of it. He also charged big amount from us last day for nothing. stay away from them. read more

Don't waste your time. I have an inoperable truck and called for service. I was willing to wait and accepted a date nearly a month out. On the evening before they were to come, I received a call that they had a family member with a medical problem and they'd need to postpone. I assured them that was no problem and they said they had to go out of town for a few days, and they'd come on Monday. I get the feeling I'm getting the runaround when I don't get a call, so I call at 9am Monday and I'm told they need to postpone to Wednesday because they're just getting back. Tuesday night at 5pm I get a text that they're now backed up and can I accept a date an additional month out. Obviously this is a runaround. Again, we can all understand that personal matters will arise, getting backed up a month over the weekend is either incompetence on the part of the business or simply a lie. Complete waste of a month's wait. Waste of my day taking off expecting a mechanic on Monday. Waste of my time coordinating my schedule for the Wednesday they're missing. If you're stuck, no one else can assist you, and they are free at that very moment, then I guess do what you have to do. If you need someone to come on-site to handle a problem as I did and you're looking at this review as I looked at the reviews before I called, skip it. Further than that, I cannot recommend anyone waste their time, as I have, with this business. read more

Before going to that place ask the locals about it. try to find another place if it's a major repair they don't care about your time. I think they never buy the parts from a real dealership, that's why it takes a long time for the parts to arrive. My experience was with a transmission problem. I paid $17,000 dlls and they couldn't repair my truck. I went to another place. and it only needed a clutch calibration. (150 dollars) when they told me that they had to dismantle my tranny again. 3 weeks lost and paying for a hotel because they don't care about your time. They do not invest money in parts like in a normal workshop. They ask you for a deposit to buy the parts with your money. I think their way of working is a scam. read more

I absolutely will not even give this shop any rating. My motorhome broke down and was towed to the shop. Josh said it would take approximately six weeks before he could start working on it. They continued to gaslight me for a year and a half. Michelle would say that she needed to talk to the mechanic who actually is her husband. Every single time I called I got the same BS line. They did not once look at my motorhome or assess what was wrong with it. what they did was allow my motorhome to sit out in the elements for 1.5 years. I had to pay more money to have it towed to a new RV shop because Josh screamed and yelled at me on the phone and told me that he had the legal right to refuse to do work on my mh after 1.5 years. Now all the waterlines need to be redone because they never winterized it. And there is water damage in the inside of my motorhome. Which clearly tells me they never even entered my motorhome. I only knew this because the new repair shop not only went in and looked at the motorhome, but took pictures. There is water damage all over the floor, because one of the caps was missing. You would think that would be something they would make sure it was taken care of. I have never been treated so poorly by a company. I lost use of my motorhome, while still paying insurance and licensing. Word around that town is not very good for this company. not only do they have a poor reputation professionally, but Josh also has a poor reputation personally. The tow companies didn't even want to go there to pick up my motorhome because of Josh. Every repair shop I called within the vicinity, had nothing positive to say about him. I'm a hard grader and these guys are a 5 star operation. They showed up on time and diagnosed all problems almost instantly and had solutions and a plan of action. Best of all they come to you! RVs are challenging to maintain and there's truly a dearth of choices with most people thinking they are stuck with the likes of Camping World, Blue Dog, or Guarantee RV. Just because these places have long waiting lists, charge too much, are rude and inattentive to their customers and don't have time for their customers doesn't mean they are the only alternative or that you are stuck with their ineptitude. Who wants to wait months for a diagnoses only to have to wait months longer fir actual repair work to happen. Why suffer the abuse of yet another camping world employee telling you "no" to everything you ask when you can get a quality friendly and truly knowledgeable and skilled professional like Josh of Stanton RV. In fact when I compare Stanton to Camping world I give Camping World. Negative 5 and Stanton TEN star rating. Camping World makes these guys look like saints and vice versa. I was out camping, on a Sunday, and my battery died. I called AAA and apparently I was too far out, they referred me to these guys. First, they wanted to argue that my battery was not dead. I assured them it was dead. (My friend has a big truck and could not jump it but it did "click.") Second, they asked me for my location. I told them exactly where I was using the highway (44) and the Forest Road. It is not that far out or difficult to find at all. I explicitly told them that the roads were paved. Several people around me heard this. Michelle then asked me to send my location. I told her I wasn't used to doing this and was there something she didn't understand about the directions. She said she just wanted the location because that was easier. My son (14) said he could do it, and he did. Hours later and I check in, she says oh AAA told us you were in Dufur. I say, but Dufur is only 20 minutes away. She says we had to get a battery. I try reasoning, this still doesn't explain anything. That is when maybe she should have understood that the google maps location was wrong and perhaps actually look at the address I gave her. Nope. Hours later I call back again and she says they're driving on a really rough road. I tell her you are not where you should be. She gets upset and keeps telling me that she is following the location. I tell her, please, I'm just trying to get you to me (it is almost 4 hours after the initial call, nearing 5pm and I have a dead battery). I hear a man in the background saying, "I'm turning around." I beg her not to turn around and to just listen to me. My friend gets on the phone and then talks to I believe Josh. During this phone conversation basically my friend and I were walking on eggshells, afraid that they would turn around. We had to repeatedly "apologize" for sending the wrong location and we basically had to "admit" that we had never told anyone our actual location, even though we totally had. Finally they get there and won't even make eye contact with me. It is totally bizarre. My friend goes over and says hi, then they are friendly. They're changing the battery when my friend's girlfriend goes and sits on the back of the car to watch. I didn't see exactly what transpired but Josh asks her to leave. She gets a little huffy (we were all pretty floored at this weird experience) and suddenly Josh reaches into the car and says he is going to remove the battery and drive away. I burst into tears. It is almost five. Michelle demands to know why I am crying. Then Josh says he was just saying that, he wouldn't ever do that. I am sobbing, the whole thing is just too scary. I am shaking. I sign an invoice without even looking at it. They charged me for the extra mileage they spent following the google location and ignoring my detailed explanation of exactly where we were. They charged me an extra $24 for a credit card processing fee that I didn't know about. I pulled that card out of my purse shaking in terror that any misstep on our part, these guys were going to abandon me. I had to play nice because I seriously feared what they would do. When we finally were driving home, along 35, my son's phone rings (because he is the one that sent the location). Josh had said that he would call and check that everything was fine so I wasn't surprised. My son says, "He wants you to pull over" at the same time I see Josh and gang parked off 35. He sees me and waves for me to pull over. Of course I did not pull over. My son says that he told him first, "We wanted to check out some things." and then later called back and left a voicemail that a taillight was out. Once I was safe at home and had taken a few days to decompress, I called and asked Josh what it was he wanted to check out and why he wanted me to pull over. He said he couldn't remember. Then he said it was the tail light. I said, you noticed the tail light as we were driving by you on 35 (that is what the voicemail said). He said, "Oh no, we noticed it at the campsight but everything was so weird there." Liar. Totally creepy and scary experience so if that is what you're looking for, by all means give these folks a call when you need help. read more

I can't even begin to say how incredible these folks are! My truck span off the icy road at night and they just happened to be driving past (taking care of people during the crazy storm). They insisted I sit inside their nice warm truck (calming me down) while they pulled mine out from down a snow bank, pumped up all my tires- checked to make sure everything was ok and then actually drove it for me to a local motel because I was too shaken up to drive! I broke down and called them..... As another review they were tied up on a job but would get to me..... I had my vehicle towed to a local fairgrounds with my RV trailer. They stated that they would get to me on Saturday morning..... Saturday morning came and never heard anything so I called they stated they would call me as soon as they had a time to get to the repair on my truck. Never heard back and they never answered their phone until 5:30 pm on Saturday evening. At that time they decided to tell me that they would not want the job. They did give me a name to another shop to call. The other shop closed at 5:30 pm on Friday and would not open until Monday. The other shop did not work on diesel trucks so after waiting two and half days I had to have my vehicle towed 119 miles to a repair shop.... On a trip out of state with my RV and passing through the area, I had a nasty noise and vibration in my truck. I looked underneath to find my driveshaft coming apart. I Googled and found these guys. They came right out (they're entirely mobile), saw the problem, had the driveshaft out in minutes, and headed back to get parts. Found out parts wouldn't arrive til morning, so I stayed overnight in the rest area in my RV. They were back out very first thing the next morning and had me on the road ASAP! On my way back from Portland Ore. on New Years day I had motor issues with my Honda CRV. Stranded in Hood River and after calling "several" place around the area with no answers. I called Stanton Truck, they were the only ones to answer the phone. I spoke with Josh. I told him what I was experiencing with my Honda and even though it said this was a truck and Rv repair shop Josh seemed to know his stuff. He walked me through trouble shooting the problem.
