The story: After calling GE repair and hearing that I'd have to wait a week for a service call that would unlock the oven door on my GE Profile. I was not happy, I called A to Z and left a message. Within minutes, I got a call back. Within two hours Simcha was at my door. He listened carefully to my recounting of what happen and what I did to attempt a fix. Then he went to work. Soon he had my oven door off and the innards of the range top exposed. He explained that a motor was likely burnt out and a control board might be as well. He suggested a plan - order both, replace the motor only,(a less expensive part) then test it. If it works - her returns the control board (much more expensive,) and if the motor doesn't fit the prolbem, there's no additional wait. We made a plan - but then he found out the motor was not stocked by his supplier, he ordered it and put the Profile back together so that I could use the oven and stove - but no self cleaning till the new motor. He gave me all the pricing for the two options. He also pointed out that the self-lean had partially melted the with that activated the oven light when the door is opened. He had looked up the part had had a price for me on that as well.I was very surprised how low the options were after all the time he had put in. I approved the added work, Simcha called later to tell me he had found a new supplier who had them in stock. Two days later he was back. Replaced the motor, replaced the light - problem solved! Paid via Chase Quick pay. As good as it gets.

If the technician already knew during the first visit that a connector was needed to properly and permanently fix the problem, why wasn't I given the option to have it installed then as part of a complete repair? Instead, I paid $170 for a temporary fix, was told it had a warranty, and now I'm being asked to pay even more for a second visit. I would have much preferred an honest, upfront price for a complete repair from the beginning rather than paying twice for the same underlying issue.

He sent someone who not only didn't fix the burner, he broke another one. That person said that they needed more parts to fix both burners and that they would call back when they were ready. We never got a call. This began several weeks of pestering Jimmy on the status of the parts, because he would never call us. He eventually replied that they were on backorder but would tell me when they were ready again. After a long period of silence, we called him back and he mentioned that the parts were discontinued, he just never bothered to tell us and that he wouldn't do anything to compensate us for the stove his team made worse. He said that there was nothing that could be done to fix it. I called a different company, they came in, had the parts (not on backorder) and fixed it within a week.
