Next A. J. Perri comes out because drain is clogged. That person said probably a bird or animal clogged the vent on the roof. He left - never even tried to clear the drain. He said maybe a new toilet. He left. Called Advanced, John Lyman came out. Looked over the drains (sink and shower) no others were backed up. He cleared the clog and we were good. He told me it is guaranteed for 30 days and don't hesitate to call us if it clogs again. Amen to an honest company. Summary - don't use A. J. Perri - use Advanced - a family-owned business that cares about its reputation and work - It does not try to sell you anything you don't need.

Please DO NOT USE this company if you'd like to pay a fair price for basic services. Called S Tieger Plumbing to change my flush mate toilet system. Several months later, my toilet started leaking. By this time I also had a shower leak. I reached out to S Tieger Plumbing again. No estimate for the work was ever provided at any time. A guy came and tightened the screw on the toilet, which should have been sufficiently tightened from the flush mate service. I would expect a professional plumber knows how to correctly and adequately tighten a screw. Apparently not. This company was in my condo building (200 individual units) all the time and did not tell me a water shut needed to be scheduled to do the shower head leak repair. So after about 10 minutes, they were done (screw tightening) and they had to come back another day. Before they left they took a picture of the shower head area so they would know what to bring upon their return. In spite of this, they still showed up without all the needed parts. They left for 2 hours, came back and spent about 10 minutes and were done. So total time for the actual work was about 30 minutes. How many times is sufficient to visit a persons home to know what parts to bring?? Again, this "supposedly" is a professional plumbing business. I received a bill for $900. When I reached out to obtain an itemized bill, I was told "we don't do that". They wouldn't even tell me which brand of cartridge they installed in my shower for future reference. Why??? Why??? Why????? Where did that amount come from? Regardless of whether I agree with the amount or not, if a customer asks how it was arrived at a good business will speak with that customer and explain. What the hell kind of business practice is that? When I get my car serviced I am given an itemized detailed list of charges. Medical expenses are itemized. If I get my nails done and ask how they arrived at the amount they explain it to me. McDonalds even itemizes. But here at S Tieger Plumbing that is just not possible??? Totally ridiculous!!!!!! Any reputable business with nothing to hide will work with the customer and explain how the total was arrived at. Their attitude was horrendous. No communication AT ALL. Only demanding payment without any explanation. Needless to say, they no longer are contracted to work in my condo building, let alone my individual apartment. Horrible experience! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!!

That is way too high, even for NYC (see table for average costs in NYC to replace a valve: https://www.angi.com/articles/how-much-should-toilet-repairs-cost/ny/new-york). My building has been having a problem with the boiler. The other week, I told management that I've been getting intermittent hot water and they sent these plumbers to check the hot water situation in my bathroom. The plumbers insisted that I needed a new mixer. I told them the problem is the boiler and I thought they were there to work on the boiler and to check how much the boiler problems were affecting the hot water supply in the apartments. The plumbers and management knew about the boiler issues and that many of the apartments were having the same issue I was having. The plumbers changed my mixer anyway and of course this did not solve the issue because we all knew this wasn't what was causing the problem. These plumbers are prohibited from setting foot in my apartment again.
