My friend was in need of a new laptop, and I was in need of some miscellaneous office accessories. After getting a cup of joe, we decided to hop in here to see what we could find. My friend ended up buying the laptop she needed for school, and I bought the stuff I needed for my home office. The parking here is not a hassle, as they have their own lot. Otherwise, it would have been a nightmare finding parking along Sunset or the side streets. The crowd was not too bad either, even though you can find some pretty interesting characters at night in this side of Hollywood. I came in to return some tax forms, and pick up additional supplies for my boss. The worker I was closest to was a short Asian man with glasses and a grey polo on. I simply asked if it was possible to return the 2014 forms- obviously well aware they were old, but my boss asked so I had to try. He could have said a simple no, but kept rambling on and starting scoffing, saying we can't take them back just because you screwed up. Seriously though? Ewwwww, no one asked for all that. I've worked in customer service and management for years and I've never reacted that way to a customer or have been that scoffed at like that. Now I know why this place gets such shitty reviews! Came here a little bit confused because I needed a certain label maker that I couldn't find at some other stores, when I came in I was greeted by Daniel. I asked him if he knew where this label maker cartridge was and he immediately knew what aisle and what row it was in! he finished what he was doing and came to check up on me and check if I had the right one *AWESOME*which was very helpful. Had such an awful, awful, and terrible experience at the Staples on Sunset. After work, I came here to pick up my online order but somehow it was cancelled. So i decided to purchase it in store. But, the SALES ASSOCIATE, GREG, handled the customer so unprofessionally. The way he talks, the way he behaves was not nice at all. He was not willing to help or assist a customer. Well, THANKS TO GREG, the staples just lost one or more customers today because i will tell all my friends and families about today experience and will not buy anything from staples! This place is such a rip off. I had to send a work contract to a restaurant in Las Vegas, just a few pages, maybe 12, I was charged $32.00 for a fax! An inkless, paperless FAX! Not to mention it took 16 min to send. Archaic! Absolute rip 0ff each time I go, whether it's dried out Sharpies or wallet-Highway-robbery for a fax, a FAX! Employees aren't much nicer or efficient. Every single time I go here I leave pissed off... The staff is a nightmare who "taunts" customers and makes fun of them! The security guy was talking crap about me for no reason. The man behind the counter recommended a certain printer ink that turned out to be a disaster. When you go back and return something they mock you and refuse to apologize. The woman in the computer center is about as helpful as a poopie flavored lollipop! If you're working in the printing area and the printer runs out of ink shouldn't you know how to replace it? Well, if you work at this staples branch the answer is NO! Unless you're buying a pack of pencils don't go here. The staff couldn't answer any questions if their lives depended on it! The employees in the Print & Copy are always personable and nice and ready to help printing headshots, resumes, etc. If you are a Chase customer and only use their cards, BRING CASH. *** If you try to swipe your card, the system will make you wait exactly 5 minutes before trying again. Some fraud thing, and it happens every single time. Taking off a star for that. Good thing I have had cash lately. Hope they can get this fixed. read more

Worst service ever! I took in my phone for a broken screen. Took it in and when they returned it, the phone no longer turned on. Took back in, the claimed it was my fault, then said it was my battery, the changed the battery and of course wasn't the issue. They sent it out, was returned and technician changed the battery again. They sent it out, not working. They sent me to a dif staples to change charging port which I had to pay myself, and nope was t the issue. Long story short, it was fixed after a month. I emailed Selegne Garcia st the presidents office about the issue and she didn't do anything. The aux doesn't work, the screen id reader doesn't work and the whole screen is lifted off. I will attach photos. Don't go there. They will not take care of you if THEY break your phone. read more

They should have a "Never Easy" button here. It's atrocious finding anything from a limited selection and when you do, there's a solid chance that it won't be in stock. Like, the row of WD drives... every one I attempted to buy wasn't actually there. Wtf? They only had Seagate in stock. But I've had to come here for a while and it always the same story with various products. At least they pricematch now. It's nice to have a store that 'might' have something in stock, when you're in a bind, but it would never be anyone's first choice. I just moved here from NEw York City. I don't often write reviews but I have to say that this team that worked early morning was fabulous. I was on a deadline and my printer broke. They were so helpful and you can tell they really care about what they were doing and the customer. I got a printer in a store on New York and they helped me get all set up with a new one. Anais the manager really took the time to help me and Ben in tech made sure I got the right model. Karen who was also a employee had a lot of good advice. I came into the Hollywood Staples on Sunset on Monday 8/05 because I'd lost a receipt that I needed for our production accounting. I had my fingers crossed that although Id paid with cash that the store would be able to find it. At first, it didn't look good. The store manager Adrian continued to look for ways to identify my order. Finally, finally, finally he found it! He was super patient and very helpful. Unfortunately I am going to have to agree with the majority of the reviews on this page. They are lacking help in the store. Clearly the management needs to hire more people. It is very frustrating to be standing around waiting for someone to help you for over 45 minutes. They are very disorganized as well. The store is messy and crammed. Perhaps someone could come in and assess the store and make some major improvements from the corporate office. Wow... what's with all the hate? I came here specifically to buy a filing cabinet that was desperately needed to organize my pile-o-crap that has been lovingly named "school work". I didn't want to wait for it ship to my apartment, so I figured I'd pick it up here. The people there were super helpful. They put the 100 lb monster on a dolly and brought it to the register for me. Afterwards, two guys volunteered to carry it to my car. They even asked if I had help to carry it to my apartment once I got home, knowing how heavy it was. Now that's customer service. I usually like Staples, but this one sucks. I thought it would be good, too, judging by its location. But, then, on second thought, who the hell would go to Sunset to buy office supplies. Silly me... The floors are REALLY dirty, its not that well stocked and the sales people were no where to be found. I was looking FOREVER for a certain size of stationary. I finally asked someone and this is how it went... "Do you have 8 by 10 stationary or plain white paper?" "Uh... no... we only have.... 8 1/2 by ..... uh.... 11... and a half." I felt compelled to point out that he did not, in fact, have 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 since paper comes in 8 1/2 by 11 and I had just spent a half hour in the paper aisle scrutinizing every size, so I just let it go. I'm going to stick to the downtown office supplies stores from now on. read more

The one star is because there is a parking lot and there is product in the store. That's about it. I asked a computer specialist there for a specific stick of RAM to be matched to the one I brought in-I should have double checked because when I got home it was clearly the wrong one. Upon returning, Brenda, one of the most unfriendly "customer service" people I've ever dealt with, rudely handled the return. So came here looking for T-shirt transfers - which they don't have. No thanks to customer service. There were people around but NO ONE asked if I needed help. I mean... Ordered a chair online for in store pickup. They had the chairs in stock. But wouldn't sell the chair because I guess the chair is the gold rush of chairs and will completely ruin their whole inventory system if one is actually sold to a paying customer and leaves through the doors.... So waited for the same chair they already had to be shipped. Then asked if they could put it together but I guess the only employee at the store with the know how of chair assembly works from 9am-10:59am because I called at 1:30pm and that person was already done with their mass chair assembly for the day since this Staples is the number one chair sells destination in Los Angeles... Also asked the manager "hey how about we just take the display chair, and I'll pay for the chair assembly since you have them in stock so it'll just be an easy swap." Of course she said no, and started quoting California law book codes, law & order SUV chair deaths, and how that was just too agonizing to think about a simple chair swap. I needed to print 1 picture for a casting. Guess how much time it would take here? 2 HOURS. When I walked in nobody looked at me and were busy doing their stuff. I finally stopped one employee and asked for help. She said they could print my picture if I waited for 2 hours. I asked why would it take so long? She said that's because they have a lot of orders to print. I'm sorry but it's not my first experience printing pics and I know that they could print 1 for me in no time if they wanted. With that said I give this Staples 1 star. Take your business to Copymat across the street. They actually care about their customers. read more

How strange to have no floor people to help. I tried to ask about someone to help me, but no one would pay attention, turned away or just ignored me. Oh well. I walked out, buying nothing. Customer service must be pretty awful for me to take the trouble to come and write a negative review on Yelp. Well, the customer service at this Staples is bad enough. I came here on a Sunday afternoon, there must be 6 people in this store at must, myself included. Employees walk around, making sure to avoid eye contact with you (except the one that stays on your back while you're looking at index cards; I know he's doing his job, but while at it, why not ask if the customer needs any help instead of making them feel like a thief?), and after you ask 3 of them, one decides she can go to the register and ring your transaction. When I go for the exit, the automatic door won't open, and I ask one of them if I can leave that way, and the same guy who ignored me earlier says "It's already closed!" Oh, thanks for your help, I'm sorry I asked a question. I'm sorry you're making me a huge favor by doing your job. I work with customer service myself and I know how trying it can be, but that doesn't give anyone the excuse to be impolite or take out your frustrations on others. I'm not at all surprised by the other negative reviews on here, but clearly no superiors at Staples seem to care. This staples says it's a superstore. I think that means its big. But it didn't have anything in it that any other staples would. I was hoping for things like a Hello Kitty paper shredder or a desk chair that would respond to voice commands. Instead I bought a Seagate USB hard drive so that my friends down here could load tons of self-produced and copyright-free music for a music project we may be working on. Originally I was going to give this 2 stars but I was so pleased with the sales associate who helped me out that I gave an extra star. This location is a bit small and often cluttered/unorganized. I have not always found items I am looking for because their stock seems limited (likely due to space). ROBBERY!!! I had 100 pages printed... black n' white... with maybe 10 in colour. The entire stack was printed on expensive, heavy weight, glossy colour-print paper and I was charged $63... I didn't ask for this. I was told that they charged me for the black n' whites and not colour price, but printed it all on the colour machine... So who's robbing who??? Are they over charging me or undercharging and robbing the company of a sale? I was also charged for a 'same day service'... again something I didn't ask for - or was even told about.... and surely it shouldn't take more than a day to print 100 black n' white letter size pages.... c'mon... WTF...? A same day service charge??? That's like 'window tax', utter-ROBBERY. I was asked what does a black and white page cost...? I was told $0.17 So... EVEN IF... I had 200 pages printed at $0.17 that's still not $63... do the math! But the joke is... I had roughly just over half that... So where did $63 come from???? I've been charged for roughly four times the amount. ROBBED!!! I have been screwed over by this store too many times now. I've been over charged in the past for prints on certain paper I didn't ask for. Taking advantage of me and getting as much money out of me as possible. I thought it was a one-off mistake - but no... clearly they're trained to rip people off and up-sell them with things the customer is either unaware of or didn't ask for and certainly aren't told about prior to the job being done... because nobody, NOBODY would agree to this price!!! Instead of apologizing and fully explaining the price and offering any concern or care or thank you for using their service... they were defensive and I was spoken to as though it was none of my business and that I'm some kind of idiot. I had to go here out of necessity. Next time I will try and find another place if I can, I went for a $100 toner cartridge and it was up high. Saw no employees who can help me and if the rolling ladder didn't have an "employees only" sign, I would have used it to begin with. I went to the front to ask for assistance to get the cartridge and the employee told me 'they are on the floor.' So I went to the are, like an idiot and looked on the floor. Nothing. Went back, and told him there's none on the floor. So, he gets some other lbrain and asks him to get one. He says the same, 'Oh, there are plenty on the floor.' I go back. Nope, nothing on the floor. So, I go back a third time and ask for this cartridge. I left work to get it and need to get back. So, the same guy as before points to them up high, 'we have them on the floor.' And it dawned on me; floor = on the sales floor, not THE floor. Okay... guy walks away AGAIN. So, I grab the ladder and climb it because these people are NO help. Now the employees come alive and actually help me. They get the cartridge (after I told the guy I asked them THREE times for assistance and to no avail.) He said it would be at the front while I went and grabed some photo paper. So, I walk to the front and look for my cartridge. The guy who helped me pointed at this register where a girl was on her iPhone. She springs to life and rings me out sans the cartridge. I tell her I also have a cartridge and she hasn't a clue what I am talking about. After another few minutes she sees it on the floor. Seems the guy put it there without letting her know. Anyway, a visit that should have been 5-10 minutes tops was close to 25. read more

Aside from the fact that Staples has the absolute fastest online order turn around time, if something just happens to go wrong, the in-store process for online exchanges and returns is amazing! We placed an order for white printer paper, and while the size of the paper was mistakingly off, when it was time for us to exchange it there were no problems. It excites me because often when you purchase things online and something happens to go wrong, the exchange and return process is dreadful, long, and discouraging.
