I went in to inquire about a printing job for an invitation and was shocked at the price to print a double sided image for 30 pieces that had to be special cut (smaller than 5 X7) at $52?! On top of that the woman helping me seemed irritated to be working me, like I was interrupting her, and could not be bothered to greet me warmly when I asked for help. At that price I expect amazing customer service and to receive the product now - I was told it would be another $25 to get it same day - so $76?!!! I took my business to a professional independent location who had competitive fair prices (less than half the quote plus same day service) and was happy to help! read more

I put in an order on Thursday and was told it would be ready in 24 hours. On Sat,far more than 24 hrs, I was sent a proof. I replied within the hour. One name was wrong and the other was fine. I also called and gave this info to the counter person. It's now Tuesday night. No cards. My crew leaves tomorrow for San Diego to a convention and they absolutely cannot do their jobs without business cards. The person behind the counter tonight, Fritzie, could care less. No apology. No help. Just walked away when I said I was really upset and what was going to happen now? Turned her back and ignored me. So Fritzie I hope you receive better training or move to a job where the customer doesn't matter. And Staples? You need to refund my money. I was promised 24 hours. It is now 5 days. What possible excuse is there. This is an update: a manager of the print and copy department made my cards that night. She stayed late and got them right. She did not charge me for it. She was clear on what service was and said she would speak to her team and find out what happened. Fritzie? You need a new job where you're not exposed to people. I'm one of those who has a fully stocked desk, including hi-liters, white-out strips, file folders, Post-its, clips, an extra flash drive, and of course, a zillion pens and pencils. I don't need everything at once, but nice to know it's all there just in case. Which is where these guys come in because I can get it all done in one trip. Back to school time is a good time to shop here because all that stuff and more is discounted, and its a good place for shipping supplies, padded envelopes and boxes especially. Plus you can make copies there for three cents less per copy than FedEx. Nice furniture as well but wish it was a bit cheaper. read more

I was at this store today 8/27/15 using the self service color copier. Could not get anybody to help me reduce a 9x9 to fit on an 8.5x11 sheet so I ended up printing on 11x17 which was more expensive and when I went to trim them on the paper cuter the handle was broken and out of line and it would not cut straight. I asked them to go over to aisle 4 and get a new one and the employee looked at me as I were crazy. I spoke with the manager and got some response such "well they need one with a safety shield". The partially broken one they had me try to use does not even have a safety shield in it! What a joke, had to go to OfficeMax to finish the job. I love office supply stores. This one in particular is very good. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I often use the Copy Center. They do very professional work at a great cost. Less than half the cost of Kinko's. They are fast too! The employees care so much that they will call you if they think something doesn't look right (in the case of an online print order). For instance, when my PowerPoint page was converted to a PDF, the font got screwed up. They called me before printing 250 copies, asked me to send it to them via email in its original format, and followed up that the order was completed about ten minutes later. Great experience here yesterday! Male staff seems to be very helpful...LOL... I went in looking for a pen refill for my Dr. Grip pen. I'm a tough customer and expect certain treatment from my sales associates since I worked in retail for many years in the past. I continue to receive horrible service in this location. Today really topped it!! I have been ordering return address labels from them for years. Today I went in to reorder and there were 3 associates behind the counter and none of them would come over to help me. They would not even look at me even though I was 10 feet away. Once the associate came over and I told her that I needed to order labels, she seemed upset because they had recently changed the format. She was annoyed that we would have to start from scratch as my address would no longer be in the data base. I explained that it was no big deal, it's only an address. She told me to look at the variety of styles and make a choice, which I did. She walked away while I looked to continue what she was doing. Once I found a style and added my address, it came up that the style was not available. I called over to her to let her know and she shouted from where she was standing to choose another style. Which I did, and once again it was not available. I let her know this and she shouted over to me again that if I wanted to, I could choose again. She still would not walk over to me to explain the situation and she pretty much just shrugged and said that she couldn't help me, and couldn't even be bothered to walk over to me to offer some type of service. I was about to order a couple of thousand labels from them and she didn't even have the courtesy to physically come over to help me. I found this very, very rude and I will most likely never enter that store again even though it is a few blocks away from where I live. read more

Two young boys one with really huge piercings working that department are very rude, slow, lazy unaware of products and seriously need to complete a customer service training course. I'm a demanding customer who walks out of places routinely if I don't get good service. And I wasn't in a great mood when I went to Staples for a new laptop. But within minutes, the sales manager Paul Fochetti was there to help me and spent at least 45 minutes giving me his undivided attention discussing various options. And we're talking low end re: price, the sign of a great store when they treat you well no matter how much you're spending. I had walked into the store with an idea which laptop I wanted. Paul convinced me another brand/model would give me better performance and he was absolutely right: I've never had a laptop that functions so well. And the price was phenomenal ... not just for what I purchased but across the board. There were a few problems with the purchase (not the store's fault) and once again, Paul was right there to help out and I couldn't have been happier. Well, they've got a lot of things that you need. However, God help you if you need anything FAST or anything that requires KNOWLEDGE about the stock, you are in trouble. This place is fun for little cheap office toys, and the copy shop as noted below must be good. I have not had that experience. I am hoping that I can find a nice small mom and pop office supply store where the owners know what they are selling and do so happily. I have been in this place five times in the last two months. No one is happy to be working here, as far as I can tell. There were six employees standing around the last time I was there. And one worked the register while four of us stood in line. I really only write bad reviews after I have had multiple bad experiences at a place. Anyone can have a bad day. I have a hard time supporting Staples in the first place based on the politics of their company but they are a lot better than Office Max. My main complaint with this store is not with the Staples retail side which seems to be staffed with friendly, knowledgeable people but with the "package center" personnel, specifically the woman whom is the head or supervisor of this area. I have an on line business and have USPS packages to send almost daily. Sometimes I go to the post office, sometimes I go to Staples depending on my errands. The first time I sent a package at staples I waited at the counter while the staff were talking in the office with the door open. There was one girl helping another customer. A lady casually drinking water and chatting with her co workers looked right at me and continued to about her socializing. I gathered that she must work in another part of the store but thought it was odd no one alerted anyone else to my presence. Eventually the girl helping the other person got to me. While helping me, the woman who had looked right at me before came over to do something and I noticed she was the supervisor by her name tag. I thought to myself, "nice customer service job supervisor lady.' Today I went there again. Again I waited. Again Supervisor lady could be seen diddling about. Again she looked straight at me. Again the other girl (the one I'm guessing that does ALL the work there) is occupied with other customers. Again, I wait, I wait, and I wait some more. Finally, since no one has acknowledged me, I decide I could have already been done at the post office. This time Supervisor chick looks right at me, walks out of the area (as I am turning to leave), I follow her out to see her go to her car for a break. No concern about someone waiting, no alerting anyone else to my presence, just couldn't care less. Needless to say I wont be returning here again to send anything which will seem to suit the supervisor just fine since she seems completely uninterested in helping anyone. I had frequently bought items here and there from this particular store, but really had never thought about writing a review for this place. Then came Black Friday. We had recently been shopping around for a Pc and had came across a Desktop with 1 Terabyte, and lots of memory ($299.99). This particular Pc was advertised in the "Black Friday" ads. I hardly ever wake up at the crack of dawn to be waiting in line waiting for door buster savings, but this deal was well worth it. They had their stuff together I must admit. They had a couple of Sales people in line and asked what you were interested in. According to what you wanted, they handed out vouchers and told you where to go once you entered the store. I literally walked right in and handed my voucher along with a Sans Disc 8MB plug-in Flash drive ($7.00) and paid immediately. Quicker than you can say "Cream Brulee Latte", I was out of there. I even had the option of leaving and coming back with my voucher before 12pm; in case I wanted to come back or hit another store. Kudos for being well organized and very Customer Friendly. read more

Today Monday, November18th, 2019 I stopped in at the Staples on Contra Costa Blvd, in Pleasant Hill, and went directly to the Tech Support desk. For the past week the monitor for my computer would not respond, and a blue light came on for a short while and said "no signal" I tried several times to turn off the computer, unplug everything I could see, turn off everything and still could not use my computer. I finally and reluctantly contacted a in home service to come to my house with a hefty price tag attached to solve the problem. Before that I called Comcast, but was not able to get the help I needed. Today I thought I'd give myself one more chance to fix the problem and save money. I took pictures of the back of the tower, and pictures of the monitor and brought them into Staples Tech Service desk. JOE, was so kind, professional, caring, knowledgeable, so willing to help me solve the problem. He explained what each cord was that went into the computer and suggested I unscrew the blue one from each end that went into the monitor, I did, and dusted them off, Joe said it may be dust of not tight enough. Joe also said that if the cord didn't respond and light come on I could go back to the store and he would give me one of their cords to try and if that didn't work, there was another solution, but that would cost me, so he suggested I try his suggestion first. While I was tightening the connection in the back of the monitor the "BLUE LIGHT" came , I was so excited , so thankful. I called Staples and spoke to Joe to let him know. I'm a older senior, not used to dealing with any kind of technology , and if it weren't for Joe's patience and kindness, I would be waiting for the in home service to be here "next week"! and cost a bundle. I had set up an account for the office where I work, and needed a couple basic items. However, upon ordering on-line, I found out I couldn't pick them up today. How basic, you ask, that the store wouldn't have them in stock? How about a box of copy paper and a box of manila envelopes? Really, Staples? I have to wait until tomorrow? I called the store to find out if they had these items, and if I could pick them up at the store. No, I was told, because I ordered on-line, I had to call Staples.com directly at their 800 number. I called, and promptly got connected to someone clearly in Bangladesh. Or maybe Sri Lanka. Or possibly Calcutta. In any event, she was somewhere overseas and trying to figure out my request. She could not. On top of that, she didn't know how to spell walnut, as in Walnut Creek. Or creek for that matter. Then, after I gave her the information which was already on my account, she needed my payment information. No, I told her, I entered it in my account on-line and if you don't have it, I will take my business elsewhere. She didn't have it, and would have to connect me to a supervisor to find it. At that point, I had been on the phone for some 40 minutes, and had other work I needed to do. I told her to cancel the order, and promptly went to the website for Office Depot, where, in a short five minutes, I had set up an account, ordered the items I needed, and had arranged for store pick-up. So easy. Maybe if one is not busy and can wander the aisles of this store at one's leisure, then maybe this is a decent place. But for someone who is busy and just needs to order on-line and then do an in-store pick-up, you should go somewhere else. read more

No stars for you staples. Don't shop here! I bought a very expensive packet of ink for my Epson printer. I usually buy my ink online, for half to a third the price, but I ran out and needed to replace it right away for a project. Despite cleaning the head on my printer six separate times, I could not get the two new colors I had just installed to spray properly when I printed the nozzle check pattern. I watched to my dismay, as each time I cleaned and re-checked the nozzle spray pattern, all the ink levels of the other four cartridges were being used up. So I took the cartridges and the sheets of paper with the nozzle check patterns back to Staples and ask them to replace Both the cartridges I bought as well as the set of cartridges I had used up trying to print with their faulty cartridges. I spoke to the assistant manager first and then when I asked to speak to the manager I found them smiling about it together. Long story short, they kept insisting it must've been my printer and while they did replace the new cartridge pack I had just purchased, they refused to swap out the cartridges I had used up trying to get theirs to work. I didn't like their assumption that the problem was somehow my fault, and I didn't like their condescending attitude. I will never shop there again. read more

Where do i even start? 70 percent of the laptops and tablets here on display arent even in stock. On top of that, staff isnt very knowledgable but i dont mind. The worst part is that some cashiers like Tina are complete jerks and dont seem to have any concern for customer service and go so far as to insult their paying customers and make a simple transaction complicated for no reason. I spent 900 dollars at this staples and wont pay them another penny after the hassle and waste of time that has taken place at this location. Tina shouldnt be involved with anything having to do with customer service(she actually mocked me), and i would reccomend going to a different staples. Overall this place no standards of hiring people and it seems like anybody with half a brain can apply here. read more

This is a typical staples, not out of the ordinary, but it seems like every time I go there, there cashier takes too long for me to check out. I honestly, do not have time to stand in line all day to wait for you to make small talk with the person ahead of me. Please be more efficient there and less chatty. I agree with other post that parking is kinda awkward there too, the spots are too small and I worry about my car getting scratched or dinged. I try to park farther away from the store when I go there to be safe. Sometimes you just cant though. Besides that, I was able to find most of everything I needed and although there's not someone readily available, after a few minutes I can find someone to help out. read more

I needed to get a package of CD/DVD labels for a special project of mine, so I decided to go to the nearest Staples and see if I could get them and save me the trouble of having to order them online. So, I went to the location, and I couldn't find them within the store. I decided to go to the cashier and ask her if they had the labels I was looking for; I even supplied her printout of the item I was looking for along with the product number. She then inquired one of her co-workers to help me out. The whole thing turned into a game of telephone. Her co-worker wouldn't even talk to me; I was 10 feet away from him, he clearly saw me, and wouldn't even make an effort to walk over to me, or ask me to walk over to where he was. All he did was relay the message to the cashier, where she told me go into the 3rd aisle to see if it was there. There were no CD related supplies within that aisle, and I wasn't about to go up to them again and ask. I can tell when people don't really want to help me out. So, I decided to try another approach. I walked within the store, pulled out my cellphone, and called them to see if I would have better luck in getting a direct answer. After a 4 minute waiting period on the phone, someone took my call. When I inquired about the item, the customer service representative went out of his way to check the store to see if the item I was looking for was there. I know this, because I saw him checking the aisles from a distance. He gets back on the line, and politely tells me that they didn't have the item in stock, and even suggested that I order the item online, and have them deliver it to them, where I can pick up the item without being charged for shipping. I thanked the guy and hung up, and walked out of the store. Looking back, I should've just walked up to the guy and said, "thank you so much for taking my phone call, because you sure as hell didn't help me when I asked you or your cashier in person. Bye-bye, now!" What a waste of time! He could've answered my question when I asked him about it in person. Nope! All I got was a complete brush off... until I picked up the phone and called him. As someone who works in customer service, I expected better than that. Well... you won't catch me shopping at that Staples store ever again. With employees like those two there, I'm better off ordering things from Staples, or better yet, their competitor -- Office Depot/ Office Max. And people wonder why computers are replacing people at some businesses?! I can give you a very "lazy" reason why. read more

Horrible, horrible, iphone repairs, wish I would get negative 5 stars. My boyfriend broke his screen, and decided to get it fixed at Staples in Concord. The first time they didn't even put the screen entirely back on. Went back, had it fixed, and came back with a screen with discolouring. A while back he broke his screen again, we went into the pleasant hill one. When we got the phone back, there's some kinda screen malfunction where it would have stripes. We went in there and and they put a new screen on, and the screen is yellow!!! So finally went in again today, the guy put another new screen on, no change, still yellow, plus there is discolourations. I wish we had never gone there for screen repairs!!!! If you don't want your phone to get destroyed, DO NOT DO NOT go to Staples for repair. Always go to an apple authorised place, plus it's the EXACT same cost at Apple. I wish Staples could just friggin refund us so we could bring the phone to Apple. Worst choice ever. read more
