I see old reviews and I'm not sure they are relevant now. Every time I go there, which has been more frequent recently, I remain pleasantly surprised by the amazing customer service. I have a happy experience. The store is not only a good size but has a nice feel to it because of the spacing and being well organized. Staff don't hesitate to take you back to find something if that is necessary and help with carrying big items, like an office chair I bought recently. I am very pleased by the managers they have there and especially the assistant manager who filled in recently. He drove all the way from Jackson to do this. I wish I'd written down the names of some of the others who deserve credit, too. The only area I can recommend needing improvement is if no one is at the front counter, to post a BIG sign indicting where they are in the store. Closest Staples to me is 30 miles, in Sonora CA. Am disabled, cannot walked a great distance and needed to return an item to Amazon so I called and asked if I could call the store when I got there and have someone take the item in and process the return. The man I talked to said no. Under the ADA (Americans with Disability Act) a store is required to make allowances for someone who is disabled. Every other store I take my business to from Jackson to Sonora will either bring me an electric cart to use (if they have them. Stopped by Staples to pick up a team of printer paper. No one greeted me or offered help. U found the paper on my own, proceeded to the check out counter. NO ONE was even manning the counter. Entered the store because I needed an envelope and to use the restroom, not only is their restroom locked with a code, but it also took an associate (taking her time) to unlock the bathroom for myself and ten year old daughter. After that mishap, we picked up an envelope and had to stand in line (one old woman who needed to be coached how to singup for staples) took about twenty minutes more minutes to buy one item. What a great group!!! I forgot to pick the charging cable for my laptop and needed to get one ASAP. Alessia and her tech team, especially Maria were so supportive. They found a cable, checked to make sure it worked and even allowed me to charge for a few minutes. They were friendly, professional and quick. I went into Staples yesterday and was Greeted by Conner who happily took me to the product that I've been trying to find in Sonora for days now..high quality SD CARDS! He was very knowledgeable and helped me decide on exactly the right one for my needs. So I guess it could be worse, but not much... I ordered engineering prints online on a Wednesday, they said they would be ready Thursday, I stopped in Friday and they still weren't ready, they hadn't even seen the order, or begun to process it. One of the things that was the most irksome was that while I was standing there waiting for news on my order, the 2 employees behind the counter were discussing other orders, talking about random store stuff, and ignoring me. I had to interrupt their conversation to ask questions. When they finally found the order and said it would be a few more days, as they were telling me this they were busily typing and working away, I wasn't sure if what they were doing was related to my order and if they would be needing more info from me, so I continued to wait... Finally I had to just say "Ok, so I'm leaving, see you in a few days". Fast forward 4 days, my order is ready and I go to pick it up. Absolutely everything was wrong. Wrong sizes, wrong color (one was supposed to be B&W), wrong paper weight, and the color itself was WAY over saturated, there were colors in the prints that did not even exist in the originals. The cashier offered to give me a discount, but since I had already paid online, that was not very useful to me. She offered to have a manger come talk to me, but I was in a hurry and had to go... The Staples print and copy website is a disaster anyway, and with this experience now I doubt I will be using their copy or print services anymore. The only reason they got 2 stars is because the last employee I saw was at least attentive and tried to be helpful. read more

They said online my Christmas cards were ready. I drove from Arnold to get them (1 hour) and they said they didn't have them and it MIGHT be 5 days. Wtf? Not to mention the store is a disaster. I bet they were there, the store is just a mess of boxes and disorganized stuff everywhere I doubt they can find anything. I guess my cards will be valentines cards now. Also the women behind the counter were absolutely nasty. Talk about not taking pride in your appearance and having no customer service. I'm not sure why, but I've never enjoyed going into this store. Maybe it's the look, maybe it's the smell, maybe it's the constant fear that I will accidentally break something that I can't afford. Who knows?! But, it does have just about anything you could need as far as business/school/office supplies go. The prices are a little higher than something you'd get from next door, but I've never had a problem with anything I've bought from there. I don't feel like I can fairly judge the customer service, as I usually run in for a couple of small things and run out, but nobody seems overly friendly and in your face (sorry but I don't enjoy being followed through a store and asked if I need help 15 times), but they don't come off in a stand off-ish way to me either. We bought a Dell computer here 3 weeks ago. We thought the mouse setting were not right as the cursor would get hung up and start clicking things erroneously. This started day1 and got worse. It took us about two weeks to get the computer up and running as it required many many updates before we could use it. When we finally realized it wasn't us and something was wrong, we took it back. They told us the screen is broke. They wouldn't help us, told us we broke it and made it seem like we were the bad guys. She. You spend that much money on something, it should work. The customer service is the absolute worst at this store. Although i try hard to shop locally this was the last chance for the store in Sonora! We went in to buy a printer/copier/scanner and half-expected someone to help but when that didn't happen we went to the desk and ASKED for customer service. We were told "somebody will be right with you". After 1/2 hour we gave up and as we were walking out saw a group of 3 associates and a manager standing around chatting! What a change in Staples over the last few months! A business that couldn't care less about my business to a business that actively tried to help me solve a problem. Paulo Kanga, the Sales Manager, was efficient, friend, fast, careful, and sincerely wanted to help me. Wow. I'm a teacher. I had seen an online ad for 15 cent folders. I was there at 9:30 a.m. As far as I could see there was one other customer in the store. I couldn't find the folders, so I asked the young man behind the counter where I might find them. He said they were in the last row of back to school items. So I looked and they were the same 50 cent folders that have been there for a long while. I returned to the young man. He said, "Well, I can't leave here." I said, "Okay. Now what?" He picked up a microphone and said, "Could someone please help a woman find the 15 cent folders?" When no one appeared, I said, "Apparently, the person named Someone didn't hear you." His response, "There are only four of us in the store right now, and we're all busy." I stayed right there staring at him. ( He had no customers the whole time I was in the store.) He finally tried to look up the ad on the computer, but couldn't find it. As I exited, he wished me a good day! I found the ad when I got home. The sale was going to start the day after I was in the store. It was hard to restrain the middle school teacher in me who would have said," Young man, get your rear end from behind the counter and walk to the folders with me. And when we don't find them, apologize for the inconvenience and check with the manager." read more

If I could do no stars I would. First off I had to walk the store for about 5min before I found someone to help me. Then he sent me to the wrong isle. The line I entered had one cashier and about 8 people in line. It took 2 more people to come into the line for another team member to come and he had food in his mouth and was chewing while ringing me out! And took along time to check me out for ONE item. I always go to staples to print out pictures and last time I went I was helped by the nicest associate ever! Tori made my day! Not only did she help me find the best sizes to print out but she did it with a continuous smile on her face which made my day! Only putting one star, because yelp forces me to. I have used the copy center twice, and both were horrific experiences. DO NOT USE THEIR ONLINE COPY SYSTEM! (That's the most important part, to sum up my review for future users). Save your time and just email the file to their email account. The first time: I sent in my order for 3 copies of bridesmaid invitation cards for my wedding. I waited the 2 days that the online system told me to wait, and when I showed up, they had no idea about my order whatsoever. So the girl working looked up my order online and did it right there...but, could not get the size right. They wasted many copies trying to get my order right. Then, I went to cut them to size, and their cutting board is TRASH and ripped up my bridesmaid invitation. I had to cut them out with scissors to get them to look somewhat professional. The second time: I had to go back because one of the invitations got lost in the mail. I only needed one copy. I used the online copy system and came to the store a week later, hoping that I had given them enough time to find my order and print it out. When I got there they, again, had no idea that I had even sent anything in. When they found my order and tried to print it out, their computer wouldn't communicate to the copier. So while they were waiting for that, they charged me triple what I was requesting. Turns out, they were trying to redo my copy that I turned in WEEKS ago. So they then, had to give me a refund for the two I did not order. I waited for OVER 40 MINUTES while they tried to figure it out. I came up with a solution that took 5 min to fix their copy issues....BUT, their copier would not print the correct colors. So thank you Staples, for making me pay for my bridesmaid invitation that now looks like a baby shower invitation because apparently your printers do not know how to identify simple colors. The only positive thing I can say about this experience is that the girl who was helping me was apologetic and kind toward me even though I overheard her telling her coworker that her last day was Saturday. Sorry that Staples is losing a kind and compassionate employee. read more

I will agree with all of Jim W H's points in his review of this store however I feel the need to address the one big negative which is lack of floor employees which sometimes is so bad that you feel that you have the entire store to yourself, I have walked out several times as I could not find an employee to get me an item from the back of the store. As I frequent this store often and have seen it first hand, your odds of having somebody approach you is about as good as winning the state lottery. If you know what your looking for and its not locked up in the back of the store then this place hits the mark as the selection is very good. Floor help excluded and this store easily gets 4 stars. read more

Today I wrote this letter and emailed it to Staples Corporate Responsibility Department: To Staples Corporation, I have been a loyal customer, shopping at Staples, Sonora, CA, since it opened in my town. There's hardly a week that goes by without me stopping in to buy something. Your Sonora store has great employees, as well as a fine manager. I am in there often enough to be on a first name basis with many of the employees there. Today I found out about Staples' plan to cut its employees' hours to avoid paying for health care. I signed "Sue's petition." I won't spend another nickel in Staples until this policy is reversed. I am ready to share the petition on my Facebook page with more than 1,000 friends. I care about Staples employees, and our community will not tolerate this betrayal from the Corporate powers at Staples. Do not sacrifice your employees' health for higher profit margins which might not materialize as word gets out at the speed of light about Staples abandoning its true corporate responsibility. The problem with this Staples is that no one seems to care about doing a good job. Although there are certainly a few good apples, most of the staff is made up of young and under-trained men who are condescending and appear annoyed when I ask them questions. I have a disability and can't walk or stand for long. I am sick and tired of asking where something is, only to be directed to the wrong end of the store. Since they opened, I always have the same experience. Today I went there to get a specific chair and found they didn't have it assembled. I went out and said I'd be back, only to find the chair assembled so that the seat pointed toward the floor at a 60% angle, and instead of being in the back with the office furniture, it was in front of the registers where I was expected to test it in front of all the customers. When I asked for the person who had assembled it, he wouldn't talk to me and told another young man to tell me that "this is the way it's supposed to be." Staples lost a customer and a good sale I resent being made to feel like I'm unreasonable when all I ask is a little professionalism and common decency. read more

I bought a pack of ink. The salesman kept trying to sway me into buying other products which I didn't need (it was very uncomfortable). At checkout They asked me if I wanted to sign up for their awards program, which I kindly declined. The checker kept randomly asking me my personal information , like name , email, etc... I explained I was not interested in their program and didn't need another card to carry around. The checker still continued to press for my info at which time I said I just want to buy my product and leave. Too pushy on the sales here and rewards program. The problem with this Staples is the customer service. There never seems to be enough people in the store, and I always end up waiting for more than fifteen minutes, specifically waiting on their staff. I am upset that Belle S.(another yelp user) has had the same terrible experiences with Staples that I have. The last time I went to Staples the young men in the tech department was rude and condescending. Their Tech Department sucks, and is really, really, really , really expensive :( Needless to say, I will never walk near their store again and will never pay for any of their services again. Ordered a kindle thru staples online for a store pick up because it said they had 3 in stock. Paid for it. The money got taken out of my checking account, but i Didn't receive a confirmation email by 4 so I went into the store. Everything was so disorganized when I walked in I thought "wow staples is really going down hill." I went to customer service and he said that they didn't have one for me to pick up. So he called the RUDE manager with unflattering tattoos over and she said "there are no kindles in this store." I explained to her that it said they had three and money has been taken out of my account. She said those are broken. Clearly there is no communication with this store. As soon as they received my order is it hard to at least call to tell me they do not have kindles in stock so I don't waste my time? Not to mention he money was taken out of my account and was not put back in for 5 days..... It can get taken out right away but takes nearly a week to get it back. Will not shop here again. Even if you do want something it is unlikely it is in stock read more
