I love Staples and I'm alway there for printing posters. I don't really shop supplies unless Target doesn't have it or they are having a mega sale. But today I learned that Party City is now in Staples and that's what brought me to write this review. I walk into Staples -- and there it is. Party City... inside Staples. It's not huge. It's not the full superstore experience. But it's enough. They've got Balloons, Number balloons, Letter balloons, Piñatas and Birthday decorations Just enough to get the job done. I have Contract for Computer Tech Support but that dept. has been taken over by Party City. Qualified Tech Support Staff not there every day & consists of only one person. Entire Tech Section is GONE!!! Filled with Balloons. BEST BUY Here I come!!! Also--Amazon Returns. if Return has a UPS label you are directed to Shipping Dept, IF QR Code you go to a check-out counter for those Returns--so if you have both your standing in line in both sections when its busy. Going back to UPS store will pay the $1.00 for each return for the convenience. read more

20 minutes to wait just to drop off a print for lamination. I don't mean I had to wait 20 minutes for it to be laminated .. that would be more than fine. I mean I had to wait 20 minutes just to drop of the prints. There are 3 people in this store including 2 manager. But only one person is qualified to accept an order for later pick up? I'm a 78 year old senior and trying to save time , I shopped at Staples in the store near Michael's in St.James yesterday. My purchase came up to much more than I anticipated, because the Starbucks cards were marked $10 in black marker. After telling the cashier she charged me $40 for each card, she pointed out in little print that there were 4 cards in each SEALED card I bought, I told her to remove them from the bill. After talking to her manager and the store manager, they refused to take them off the bill, saying it was against store policy to return a gift card. I told them spending $80 instead of what I saw as $20 was quite wrong, they said they couldn't do anything. This is nonsense! I didn't even move away from the counter yet, so they knew I didn't scratch numbers off or open the packets. They said they were sorry, but wouldn't budge on their policy. I called Starbucks number on the card and they refused to do anything because it was a 3rd party purchase. I now need to call my bank on Monday and see if they can help. This is the epitome of poor customer service. Any ideas from anyone reading this, please don't hesitate to say something. read more

Store manager has made this the worst location I have ever been to. Staples has been closing stores in New York left and right and I wouldn't be surprised with how mismanaged Staples Stony Brook has become that it would next to close. I do not recommend this location at all, if you want to be ignored, talked back at then come see the manager Mohammad at this awful declining Stony Brook Staples. my wife's online order was missing, we decided to purchase it in store and he was very lazy and wouldn't help us locate anything on our mossing order even though as a manager he is responsible for helping customers especially since our order was missing and it available after we were notified to come in to pick it up. Marble notebooks are 89c, loose leaf paper like $1.89, pens, markers, rulers 25c, computer paper, everything you need. Most teachers School supply lists are there on hand just in case you forget yours at home. Teachers can also apply for the rewards program. Points rack up quickly and can be used on purchases. It's a win, win. Prices are really reasonable and quite the excitement as you look around and see kids running around helping their parents fill up their cart. Floor salesman are all over the store smiling and assisting in helping you find what you need and also to keep the lines moving. I've always liked staples and have shopped here for many years for office supplies as well. Hurry in and get what you need during this sale time. This is the time you save big bucks$$$$. read more

Spoke to person on phone drive from Riverhead ti Stonybrook Lakegrive by the mall they told me to wait ny the Easy Tech Suppirr ...Nothing Easy about this . Workers just stared at me noone helps .. she said she would send someone over noone came I worked 22hr shift at hospital. . Staples can't deliver the office at hospital ink cartridges so u had to come our if my way! This was the only Staples that the site let me order from.... we have contract .. this is the worst Staples don't come here save yourself the aggravation I'm so Disappointed and still waiting for help on something that was head Unbelievable !!!! Listen I love this place. But when I'm telling you I witnessed employee abuse from a manager... I mean it. I was in there for a simple print out and the employee summer helped me with it. I of course emailed it without attachments so she helped me figure it out as there was no other customers. As we're waiting 5 people walk in needing passports on the fly and she asks if it's okay with me and I wasn't in a hurry so I said sure. After another lady walks in so at this point she calls a a manager to help with speed of service. He approaches and his demeanor is already annoyed. The lady who comes in after me is also there for a printout so he just sends her to the self printing cutting her off as she asks another question. Then asks me what I need and I said the same and he cuts me off as well then starts to walk away. I say to him that I already emailed it and he then gets in summers face questioning if she was personally printing things making her so uncomfortable in front of all of us and says that's not how you do it. And just belittles her in front of us which was crazy. The lady next to me and I are both in shock and I couldn't just stand there so I had to confront him. I did it in the most professional way and then he has the audacity to get aggressive with me and not give me his name when asked! Sean the manager from this staples. Terrible customer service. Lost my UPS package and refuse to help. Pointing me to UPS and Amazon who both claim I need to talk to them. Get back in touch with them and they give me some 800 number no one with a job would have the time to use. Ask for way to open ticket online. Stopped in here recently on a Saturday morning to buy my mother a wireless printer for her birthday. This store is enormous, very clean, and fairly new. I had already scanned the a, so I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. Of course, I was unable to find it and no employees were in sight. I walked up front to have someone paged and Rob met me as I got back to the printer section of the store. He found what I was looking for and was nice enough to carry it to the register. I did allow him to do something to me I never do. I actually purchased the service plan. I figured this would be good for my technology challenged mom and more importantly, a much needed present for my brother and brother in law. All in all, I was in and out in about ten minutes and hopefully we are all happy with this purchase. read more

Ever since Covid hit the Mrs has been working from home, it was time for a new chair for her home office, the one she had was too unconfortable to be sitting in for hrs on end so we went to Staples. The second we walked in they asked if we needed, help, we declined for the time being and we went straight to the chairs to check them out. The Mrs tried a few and finnally picked one out, (which also happened to be the same one I liked for myself). A sales associate by the name of Justin came by and asked if we needed help, we accepted and he further elaborated on the features of the chair and suggested we also get a mat since the mrs had trouble maneuvering on our rug. We decided to get the chair and mat and since the chair was a good deal we got one for yours truly as well. Justin got the chairs from the back in no time and placed them in our car. We left very satisfied with our purchases and with the help & courtesy Justin and the sales staff demonstrated. We'll be back to visit this store again the next time we need something for "our office". read more

The store is always really clean and open. Always very easy to find whatever your looking! I was there the other day though to pick up turbo tax and a was sent over to copying center to be checked out because there was a line for the regular checkout registers. The girl who helped me was young and just had no personality and was quite honestly a little rude but I guess what can I expect from someone like that. This store gets one star for cleanliness. The staff aren't helpful. Waited 20 minutes on hold for someone to pick up the phone in the print center. The print center staff clearly doesn't know what they are doing. The kid helping me constantly had to ask someone else what to do. He needed help for every single step. If this was his first day, he needed to be shadowing someone. Not taking customers all on his own. Not only did he not listen to what I needed, he repeated the wrong thing to someone else. I never got my order. It was a simple black ink print on front and back. Apparently that's rocket science to this kid. They have one computer that works and shared. Apparently the system is slow too. While you're being helped, these kids' friends drop by for a chat and take their attention away from their job. This isn't your lunch hour. There were 5 customers listening and watching you give your friend all your attention. Don't come here. Other staples' stores might be better, but not this one. read more

I came in to purchase a new laptop. The sales representative went in the back, got me my laptop, spent 10 minutes pitching an insurance costing 40% of the laptop, and eventually sent me on my way home. I came home and opened it up my new laptop and it wasn't well sealed. I turned on the laptop, and the laptop was already registered to someone else and it was password protected. I called in customer support and they said the only thing that they can do is exchange it if I come in on my own time. They said they cannot send/email me a UPS return label. The only way for me to get the laptop I paid for to work was to waste my time to go back to Staples so they can fix their own mistake. read more

We checked out a full cart with 2 extra shopping baskets and our cashier had soo much patience and tolerated all our questions. She managed to checked everything out in about 10 minutes and gave us all the sale updates. I didn't get her name but she was awesome! People in the store walking around was also very helpful. I told the manager I had an online pickup and she looked at me like I was a monster asking for their money. I do not think customer service is at the top of their list. Stopped in here to do a return. the cashier was having a problem with the computer so the he asked the assistant manager for help. The assistant manager wound up helping me. His name is Josh (or JD) and I just have to say that he was way beyond the line of nice and friendly and that's not something you get very often, especially with returns. Besides being helpful for my return, he asked if I needed various supplies before I left the store, explained Staples price match policy and offered me cell phone screen repair, should I need it any time soon. I've visited this particular Staples a number of times, and have typically been disappointed by the long waits. My most recent visit was with my girlfriend, who was trying to get some color copies made before our move to Michigan. What should have been a less-than-five-minute job ended up taking over a half-hour, since the images were somehow distorted by the staff during printing. Moreover, the price of color prints is outrageous relative to black-and-white options, so save yourself the wallet-punch if possible. Beyond printing services, this Staples has your typical back-to-school supplies, stationary, and slapdash electronics sections, all of which have products better-found on Amazon. Frankly, I don't understand why people visit this store for reasons beyond printing, since I'm confident you can find better deals online. Overall, I'm unimpressed with this location, though I think it's hard to find a Staples to be passionate about. read more

Convenient to pick up home office-type supplies, but I will never again use them to get printer ink. I told the girl the type of ink I needed for my printer, and although she got the right brand, she gave me the wrong cartridge. Since I had no reason to assume she would cheat me on cartridges, I never checked if it was the correct one until my printer rejected it. Unfortunately, it was too late to return the used print cartridge. This is what you get when they hide the inks behind the counter and you rely on kids to retrieve the correct ones. I recommend going elsewhere to get ink, or just buy online. read more
