R.I.P to my old Epson printer, it finally kicked the bucket today after nearly 15 years of use. So after tons of research I pulled the trigger on a new Epson printer. This neighborhood Staples location is fast, easy in and out professional. I was greeted at the door and escorted directly to the correct isles where they had the printer. I already knew where they were, but it was nice for an employee to go out of her way to do it. Although it doesn't have a lot of employees running around, but when I need something the people working there are always around to help. Truthfully it's hard to expect of an office store. We received stellar service from V in the print department today. We needed programs printed for my mother's Celebration of Life service. We were struggling to get the formatting right. I could tell from the moment V answered the phone that we were in good hands. I emailed two versions and by the time my husband popped in 20 minutes later, V had the formatting issues resolved and a proof ready for my husband to approve. It is pretty ridiculous that you can't answer the phone in at least 10 minutes. Yesterday we were there and it was nearly impossible to get an employee's attention as well. God forbid they welcome customers in, offer assistance, or anything else other than text, talk to friends, and talk to each other on their headsets. The printing station is a great idea, but very poorly executed. Copies are expensive, machines run slowly, and the printers didn't recognize my USB, so we had to use the computer, which of course, charges by the minute as well as by the page. I've shopped on and off at Staples since it opened. Lately we've kinda boycotting it because of the USPS issue about competition (Staples is stealing business away from the US Postal Service by offering US postal services in their stores by non-US postal employees, but that's another review). I've always found the Watsonville store to be clean, well-stocked, a little on the expensive side but you can get great deals when they do have a sale. I bought an office chair on sale a few years ago and it was cheaper than Costco's regular price (same chair). I always find what I need but most of the sales associates are way too young, not very knowledgeable about store merchandise and know even less about good customer service - except in the computer & photo depts. My wireless H-P color printer stopped working a few days ago and of course I needed copies for a baking project I was working on (making cupcake toppers). I took my flash drive, with the pictures I needed printed and the woman behind the counter plugged it into the dept. computer, printed out the four color copies I needed and I was happy and on my way in about 10 minutes. I'm sorry I don't remember her name but she was a 30ish Latina woman and I wish she made house calls! I'll bet she could even get my printer at home working again. The only downside to this store is the parking. The lot is shared with too many other stores and getting a parking space can be tricky...but that's not the store's fault. read more

First off, i wander around for 5 minutes and no one asks if I need help, my man even jokingly yells "hey this girl is stealing!" Still no one shows up. I go to the counter and ask for help, he tells someone else to help. I have been going to this store for a very long time, but this time was unbelievable. I went to the print center to get a job done and it came out to be completely wrong, and on top of that the person that helped me said he would get it done after a few hours. I had to wait longer after the few hours giving me false expectations. I believe he said his name was Juan. When I was waiting for my order to be complete I would see him walking around in the isles on his phone talking on his phone. This is very unprofessional and I would have expected more especially if he is a manager or a supervisor. I am very glad that V fixed my order after I had to come back and get it fixed. read more

So ridiculous. I struggle into the store with three large bundles to be shipped. Three bored millennials standing near the door continue laughing with each other and never offer to assist me or help with the door or help with the packages. I wrestle things to the counter and it takes the young women there almost 25 minutes to figure out how to work the computer and tell me the rates for just one of my packages. I asked them if they had any used boxes that I could have to ship my final bundle. They told me they did not. Then a man went by unloading supplies and had four empty boxes on his cart. They told me I could not have an empty box and recycle it - I had to purchase one of their boxes. So I wrestled my bundles out the door back into the car and I will never be back. read more

As I was searching for some dividers, there was a female employee a few feet from me doing inventory. Never greeted me or asked if I needed help. As I found what I was looking for I went to the cash register to purchase my items. The female cashier scanned my items and as I was reaching in to my bag to grab my wallet, she leaned against the counter behind her with her arms crossed in front of her chest. She started to make hard breathing sounds ( huffing and puffing ) like if she was running out of patience. As I ran my card threw, my receipt printed out she turns around and tells her co-worker ( possible manager ) that she was going on break after this customers ( me ). Then she tells me " have a good day " walks away. She never asked to bag my items and never gave me my receipt. My stuff were still sitting in the same place I put them at to be scanned. The co-worker ( manager ) gives me my receipt and I tell him ( her customer service sucks, she left me standing there never handed me my items or receipt. I come here a lot and never have I been treated like this ). He apologized with a sorry and continued to help the next guest next to me. Mobile Phone Repair Rip-off: Last week I had my iPhone screen repaired at Staples on Main in Watsonville and, as offered by the tech as an up-sell, I paid $20 extra to have a clear coating applied to protect the phone that was promoted 'twice as hard as Kevlar.' Last night I dropped the phone and the screen smashed. When I went back to Staples, the manager(?) told me that I would have to pay another $99 to re-repair the screen as damaging the phone by dropping it voided the warranty on the repair, and that this was clearly stated in the small print on the work order. When I pointed out that I paid extra for the 'twice as strong as Kevlar' coating which should have protected the screen, I was again referred to the warranty. I had the repair repaired at the cost of another $99 so, Staples of Watsonville made a sale, but Staples as a company lost a customer. This was complete and utter con. but, If this is true then the SWAT teams must be told not to drop their Kevlar vests as, if bullets penetrate them after they have been dropped, its not the manufactures fault. read more

This review is for their printing services: It's my neighborhood Staples and I'm going outta my way to get my headshots printed elsewhere as there's only one printing services employee who helps me. They got another knowledgable printing employee too who unfortunately has a ruler stuck up her anus. Parking lot is stressful. Both self serve copy machines were broke today. Waiting for the crew with more copiers behind the counter is excruciating. I live near this store and work from a home office. It is really helpful to have an office store nearby and this Staples is the only one. I have been somewhat unsatisfied with the store in the past but during 2 recent experiences with their merchandise supply and customer service that is causing me to consider never shopping there again. The first time I went in for three items. They were out of all three. One item was a single color printer ink cartridge that I have bought there before. They said they were out and weren't going to supply them any more. I also wanted to do a return. During the transaction the computer froze. I was told the computer could stay frozen a few days to a week or more. I was directed to keep the receipt, leave the merchandise and return in a few days or a week. The second time was when I returned about a week later to finish the reimbursement transaction. The representative I spoke with called the manager for assistance. She came and without any sort of customer service greeting, pretty much instantly challenged my claim. She said the directions I was given by the other employees were incorrect and didn't make sense. At about this time another representative came over and vouched for me. He said he was there that day and had put the merchandise to the side. The manager continued to reject my story. I asked what this meant for my reimbursement. She said she couldn't reimburse me if she didn't have the merchandise. She added, especially if I was coming in "2 to 3 weeks later." This over exaggeration of what I had said was unacceptable. I looked her straight in the eye and firmly and calmly corrected her that it wasn't "2 to 3 weeks." She then walked away. A minute later she sent over the representative who remembered me and he processed my return. As I was thanking him for helping him, the manager returned and without looking at me began chit chatting with the representative about what he was going to do over the weekend. She never looked at me, didn't acknowledge that the transaction was being processed, nor thanked me for my patronage. I still had about $70 worth of office supplies to buy, including a 3-color ink package, which I didn't need but would buy just for the one color I needed. After this unsatisfactory customer service from someone in a leadership role at the store, I will not be going back...unless absolutely necessary. I will organize my office supply purchasing around shopping online or in Capitola/Santa Cruz so to not need to shop there. I don't know if this review sounds petty. I really don't. All I know is that I was left feeling wronged, accused of being a liar and insignificant as a customer. These aren't feelings anyone likes to feel. Whether it is a valid complaint or not, the feelings are real. I do very important work for our under served community. To feel disrespected while doing something for work just doesn't feel right. I have a choice and I will work my schedule around not shopping at this Staples. read more

The next day I went in to pick up my prints, I asked the girl how much do they charge to cut my invites she states $2 per cut.
