LAZY WORKER -- Saw a small woman who had something much larger than her in the cart. At the register, it looked hard for her to pick up the item so she tried positioning the cart and price tag toward the cashier. Rather than move toward the cart or grab the item for her, the cashier told the woman she'd have to bring the item to him. He stood there while she struggled to move the item. The cashier had a handheld scanner and wasn't willing to lean over. Once the lady dragged the item onto the cash register, only then did he grab his handheld scanner to scan it. He then stood and watched as she dragged it back into her cart. What poor customer service. read more

Printing services used to be great. Recently, I brought multiple traces on essentially tissue paper to be scanned and copied. The staff seemed clueless when I dropped the originals. It took 3 days to complete my order, which is a new policy that is not conducive to business, but whatever. After the order was completed, man original had been crushed prior to scanning. The staff then decided to print from the crushed scan. The printings seemed to be in color, even though the originals were black and white, as they were an odd gray color, with waves from the crushed original. I recreated the crushed original and brought all the traces to Rocky Mountain Blueprint in Boulder and while I waited, they scanned and printed my traces in perfect reproduction. The price was cheaper than staples. For the quality, the staples prices are robbery. Their office supplies in this store are nasty. Plastic boxes have crushed corners and are still on the shelf for sale. It's like the nastiest garage sale. read more

I used to go there regularly and I spent a lot of money there. One day about a year ago my scanner broke and I had a rather large document to email out ASAP for an urgent high-monied business deal. I came to get a document scanned and they told me that they were going to charge me two dollars a page. I even talked to a woman who was an assistant manager; she was completely intransigent and would not even offer some kind of discount. I felt completely devalued as a good customer. I have not been back since and I will not return ever again. I have given my business to people who care about me as a human being and the store apparently did not care about me whatsoever. Moreover, two of the most unethical and self-serving people I have ever met in all of my life are now working in their leadership. Absolutely Inexcusable: I needed a meter stick so my daughter could complete a summer school Physics project. Now, I realize that meter sticks are an unusual item here in the United States, so I began calling stores. The first two stores I called checked and told me, "No, we don't have them." I called the Staples on 120th in Westminister. I was immediately told, "Yes, we have them." This surprised me, so I asked, "Can you please check your physical inventory? It's an unusual item, and I'll have to drive half an hour to get there. I was put on hold for less than 30 seconds. "Oh yes, we have them." "Could you please do a physical inventory?" "I don't need to, I talked to our product manager, and she guarantees we have them. I arrived at the store, and there were no meter sticks that I could find. So I asked the clerk who was sitting at the print desk with his feet up, doing nothing. He told me where to look. NOTHING! I return to the desk and voice my complaint. The guy smirked and said, " I guess we don't have them." I was unhappy and explained, "I called and asked three times for a physical inventory! And you don't have them? I was assured that you did. My wife left a PDF of a pamphlet to be copied, printed and bound. Picked up next day and some pages were printed upside down. She went back in store to have corrected. The male person corrected it, but, also informed her that it is illegal to copy the material that she provided and to not bring her stuff there to be copied, again. When she returned to the car and relayed what had happened, I went in the store and asked said male employee why he gave my wife a hard time about copying something that he claimed was illegal yet he went ahead and copied anyway. It's either illegal, or, its not. He said it was as a courtesy. I told him it was public domain material and can be freely copied. He said thats not true. I said it is and you don't know what you are talking about. Of course, he continued to claim he was correct and that he knows of what he speaks. I was irritated, but, headed for the exit while SMH and talking to myself. Unbeknown to me, he had followed my path and, as I neared the door, I heard him mouth off something to me. I turned around, when at 5 feet from the exit door and said, "what"? He repeated, "Don"t walk through here mumbling under your breath," in such a way that two of his associates could hear him commanding me. I guess he had expected I should walk through the store yelling expletives. I said, "I'll say whatever I want, dude. FU!" (he instigated the escalation) Its my opinion that its highly probable that he was mad from the beginning because an asian woman (my wife) had the gall to come in to have the inverted pages corrected. Why else would he claim what HE did was illegal, then do it anyway and tell her not to bring anything else to copy? Paige was extremely helpful. We went in with a Canon printer we purchased a year ago with receipt and paperwork that was not pushing ink properly, and she fixed it within 20 minutes and did it kindly! The customer service experience for someone placing a .com at store pickup simply could not be worse. I have attempted to have a desk delivered FOUR times without success. They will send you shipping updates with tracking information, however, the shipping company can't assist and directs you back to Staples. Any inquiry through Staples takes 24 hours to review. In my case, I finally received my desk after two weeks only to have it broken. I was forced to process an exchange request online and that desk is currently lost in transit AGAIN. The employees and management are quick to blame the courier, but are slow to assist or resolve anything. Horrible customer service at the print center. I went in to have business cards made as I had previously done at the Glendale store. I decided to go to the Westminster store this time because it was more convenient. I was told I had to go to the website and create my own and then come back. They were unable get my file from the other store. Which is not true at all. All of this was explained to me by a manager who acted as though I was stupid. This store is relatively small, but its well organized. The selection of school supplies is fairly large, and prices are on par with what you might pay at Walmart. My only real issue when I stopped in today was the check out process. Their check out lanes were a little disorganized; it seemed like they had three lanes open, but one was halfway across the store at customer service. i am writing this review with the knowledge that im a pretty nice person to deal with and am not easily irritated. A few days ago I went to staples to make some copies and the employee was very helpful. today i went in to make copies of the SAME exact things and the experience was completely different. i wanted to print out a newspaper article written 10 years ago about MY DAD. There was NO COPYRIGHT ANYWHERE on it and it had a link that said PRINT, meaning you were more than welcome to print the article. i could have printed a million of these from home, yet the employee asks me if i wrote the article and of course i said no, but its about my dad. he acted like i was going to profit off the article or it was a case of copyright infringement. he didnt even know how many copies i wanted, he just told me i had to get permission from the lady who wrote the article in order for staples to print it. how do i do that? its a ten year old article! maybe she isnt working at the paper anymore, maybe shes dead - and, again, its not copyrighted! its a tiny newspaper, not Shakespeare. Then I gave the employee a company price sheet I needed printed, that we created. no copyright there either. he asked me if the business belonged to me. no, i randomly stole a log home price sheet from across the street and wanted to make copies of it cause i have nothing better to do. so i said yes, it is our company (duh) and he printed the copies. since when do employees get to tell you what you can and cannot print and seek to verify every last bit of your information? im the paying customer. this wasnt a 500 page copyrighted book i was printing; it was an article and a price sheet! print it! then the employee had the gall to say that if i want my 25 copies on color paper, i need to drop the stuff off early; hes just doing me a "favor" making the copies now since hes not busy. at every other copy store, they give you the color paper, you put it in the copier tray, make your copies, and pay; they dont have employees grilling you about what youre copying, who youre affiliated with, if you are who you say you are, etc. so instead of having an employee play detective with me and then refuse to make some of my copies and tell me i have to request color copies in advance, ill just bring my business elsewhere - ups store or fedex office. they are so much easier to deal with, get things done asap (esp a mere 25 copies), are more respectful, and i dont feel like i have to show them my birth certificate and driver's license to make a few lousy copies. today was pathetic. staples has definitely lost a customer FOREVER. sad to lose one over a single employee, but thats the way it goes. maybe he needs some training in...everything. i wish i knew the other employee's name as he was super nice a few days ago and explained everything about making copies on the copier, the different weights of paper, how you go from 1-2 sided, why the pictures in the article didn't come out well, helping us try to lighten the copies, etc. and he never once questioned us or the validity or what we were copying - because he has a brain. i hope he gets some kind of raise or accolade. Update: I went to FedEx Office to make my copies. I spoke with an employee up front, she showed me different kinds of papers, I chose what I liked, she made the copies, she never asked me if I was the author of the newspaper article or if I owned the company with the price sheet. Worst Staples I've ever been to. Walked in for two simple pages printed - print employee (blonde long hair) told me to send it to the machine. With very little support on how . A guy got in front of me and was taking forever so I asked if she could just print them and the response? Im busy doing multiple jobs, if youd like to pay an express fee? For the Two pages. I've never had an issue with Staples and their print staff until today. Luckily I live in Lakewood and the staff there are accommodating. Don't waste your time driving here. I came in for one thing- thumb tacks- I prefer the quality of Staples' thumbtacks to others (their sharper, what can I say), and they don't sell them. Then the lady at the front says they don't have a lot of things that most people would expect Staples to sell. For example, I also couldn't find a three ring binder with normal round rings in the center. When your job and life depend on reliable products, and you can't find them in the middle of your work day, it's super disappointing. So I drove 20 miles out of my way today for nothing. read more

Just the other day needed ink toner for printer so I started looking on line and noticed Walmart and Staples had the same product on sale, Walmart being about $5 cheaper. In bold letters however, Staples advertised that they did price matching, and with Staples being closer, decided to take them up on the offer. This was my second time visiting this location. The staff here is always friendly, I like how when I went to the photo department to ask where the ink toner would be, the guy working escorted me to the aisle. It was fairly easy to find and I shopped around.. finding a few more things. I noticed their prices in general seemed kinda high, and I know I wouldn't have time to "price-match" everything! When I got to the register a line started forming and two gentlemen hopped up to help! Overall, great experience! read more

If I could pick zero stars I would pick zero stars. This ranks among the worst stores I have ever been in. And as much as I hate it I thought I would try their printing services because it seemed to be convenient. I ordered 5 x 7 marketing materials online (to pick up in the store). I ordered glossy and double-sided. When I picked them up one side is glossy and one side is a horrible, cheap cardboard type matte. The employee just continually told me this is exactly what I ordered. But I clearly ordered two sided glossy. There literally isn't even an option to choose glossy on one side and matte on the other. You can pick glossy or matte. That's all. And I have a hard time believing that anyone who chooses glacis wanted it to be a matte finish on one side. These are supposed to be rectangles and they were cut on an angle. It looks like a horrible hack job that a kid would do at home (no offense to kids!). The employee kept telling me that it was cut on an angle because I went so close to the border when I designed it. But when you design your product online it shows you a dotted line that you have to be inside of. And I was. And all of my text is completely straight. It's still does not help him to cut the sides on an angle. It was just a horrible, cheap hack job. It wasn't like I had text or pictures he had to cut around and it forced him to cut it on an angle. I told him I didn't want these and was not going to pay for them. The store manager tried doing a refund on their cash register but could not. She has to call corporate or something like that and will call me back when the refund is processed. I can't wait to see how many phone calls it takes for me to actually get the refund. read more

I come to staples or a fast, easy trip. This store makes it anything but. The copy center employees were rude when they finally decided to acknowledge me, and when I went to check out and had trouble with a coupon it took 15 minutes and three loudspeaker calls to get a manager out who was rude and also barely acknowledged my presence. The one redeeming factor was the wonderful checkout girl-- Kiki, who not only apologized profusely for things that were not her fault, but was also the only employee who seems to be working, or caring about customers. Find somewhere else to shop for your office supplies. read more

Went yesterday to buy a new printer and fax. They were all priced at 199.00 and 149.99. Went to register and it rang up at 299.00 . We showed them the price they had posted at 149.99. They would not honor the price so we went to Office Depot bought the same printer for the advertised price of 149.00. Up yours Staples!!! read more

Very poor customer service! I went in to get a couple of things laminated. I asked the clerk how much it would be to 2 cards the size of a social security card. Erin, a guy, was extremely rude, he would not tell me exactly what it would cost. I think he was showing off for a female employee in the same section, as she kept snickering every time he would smartoff. Then she started in and they both seemed to enjoy harassing me and my wife, talking down to us with cuss words(both of us are over 70). I went to the front desk and asked to speak to the manger, Tim Anderson came out said he was the store manager. I explained the situation, he said he would take care of it. Then we all went to the print section of the store, he said he would get us a price. Then the most amazing thing happen, the employees started yelling at the Manager and telling him what to do, and he stood their like a wimp and took it. He could not even look at the employees in the face while they were yelling at him. I said are you going to let them talk to you like that? Then he asked my wife and I to leave the store????? Unbelievable! I called to speak with the real store manager a couple of days later, I was told he would not be back until after the 1st of the year(that was over 3 weeks later)?? They were extremely rude and should be fired! I think I am done with Staples, definitely not going back to this one! read more

I purchased a chair at Staples. I used the chair for three months, but was never able to feel comfortable. The chair actually caused my back and legs to ache. So, after three months of using this chair I visited the store, knowing that the return policy for, "furniture, including Staples brand furniture, may only be returned within 14 days of the date of receipt." I spoke with a representative named Christin. Instead of just regurgitating a "canned response" of the company policy she spoke with her manager to make an exception. I was able to return the chair for a full refund. That's customer service! This is the reason why I shop at Staples. There always seems to be enough people to assist and they are always willing to help and make an extra effort. Extremely pleased with Staples once again! read more
