It sounds like they're well-reviewed on the wedding side of things, but this review is for their retail services. I stopped in one evening to pick up a couple house plants. Not their ideal money-generating customer, I get that, but I didn't expect to be treated like I was invisible. The shop was otherwise empty, but none of the two workers behind the counter greeted or spoke to me until asking gruffly "you ready to pay?". The plants I was buying weren't labeled, and I'm not great with plant care to begin with, so I asked the name of one of my plants. Any other floral shop I've asked such a question, I've had an employee gladly write down the name, give me care tips, etc. The girl didn't know, so asked the other worker, then mumbled something incomprehensible. I asked her to repeat it, and she again mumbled something. I asked if she could at least tell me what the first letter of the word she was saying was, and she said "B." She then handed me my bag and continued typing on her register computer. Since she hadn't issued the typical sort of 'thanks, have a nice night!' I thought maybe she was trying to Google the name of the plant in question for me...nope, she was done with me. I went off to waste time Googling 'how to take care of house plants that start with 'B.' All this is to say--Stapleton, if your employees aren't interested in answering basic care questions about the plants you're selling, maybe re-consider who you assign to work the register. read more

The flowers in here are beautiful though somewhat pricey, when I've purchased the staff are helpful... what upsets me is that the staff seems to think the park behind their shop is a free for all to spray paint the vases etc. I've had to close my windows several times because I end up choking on the fumes from their work, not to mention they don't put down a sheet to prevent spray paint from getting all over the cement. I think that's technically graffiti, and is disrespectful to the neighborhood. read more

Upscale shop on the east side. They tend to have a nice selection of traditional and unique flowers and plants. You can count on Stapleton to have seasonal items- winter berries, easter lilies, forcythia, etc. I have always found the items to be fresh and long lasting. The issue here is the cost- quite high for no apparent reason. There is a tantalizing 20% off coupon on every receipt but I challenge you to keep track of your receipt long enough to use it- seems like just a gimmick, which would be better replaced by a customer loyalty card or number. read more

As a long time fan of Winston's, I wasn't going to be easily won over by my neighborhood florist. My loyalty has switched to Stapleton's because time and time again, I receive stellar customer service and the flowers are always gorgeous. I feel compelled to write a review due to the particularly exemplary service I received yesterday. I was picking up a money tree on my way to visit a friend, but the storefront on Broadway was out of stock. They called their warehouse, and since I was on a tight time frame, they had the plant delivered to me at my next appointment in the South End so that I wouldn't have to come all the way back to South Boston. The plant was beautifully wrapped, and I received it within 2 hours of placing the order. Customer service like that is hard to come by, and I was very impressed. Thank you Stapleton! The first time I bought flowers from Stapleton I knew I was getting price gouged because it was Valentine's Day; I could handle the price gouging knowing it was their one day of the year to clean up, but when the majority of the flowers were dead two days later I realized the extent of said price gouging. Five months later I returned to Stapleton's out of necessity and I spent $70, 3 days later 90% of my roses are dead. I will never return to Stapleton ever again and I advise you do the same. read more

I had a good experience ordering my wedding flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages and 2 floral arrangements for the ceremony) from Stapleton's in South Boston. I live close to the store and walk by it often and always thought they had nice arrangements. I stopped by the shop one day who spoke with Marian who was always very nice and patient with me. She made an appointment with Bety for a consultation who does all the wedding arrangements I believe. I gave Bety a basic idea of what I wanted (colors that I would like) but I let her use her imagination with types of flowers and what she thought would look best. I'm glad I gave her the freedom to do her thing because everything turned out beautifully. The one thing they did which I liked is made small bouquets called "wands" for the mother and mother-in-laws rather than corsages. I thought this was a unique idea. They delivered the flowers to our venue on time and everything worked out great. Price was reasonable but not the least expense that I could find. read more

Hello, Today is Mothers day and one week ago I had called to place an order for flowers to be picked up today. I asked for a very large bouquet of tiger lilies, I stated I wanted them to be obnoxiously large. The women on the phone stated that it should not be a problem and that if they were unable to get them that I would receive a phone call. I ordered these lilies because they are my moms favorite flower. Today I called the store and asked (before I drive almost an hour to pick up these flowers) if they were ready and the women states that if I made the order a week ago, that they were all set. Upon my arrival I requested my flowers. I was extremely upset when a nice man came up to me to tell me that they did not have them. Some other lady behind the counter stated that they had a ton of white lilies but that is not what I wanted. The man then made a phone call to another store to see if they had any. Why was this not done before I had arrived? I then was directed to the other store down the street. As disappointed as I was, I still drove to the other location. I walked in and the man there was very nice but what he had were not tiger lilies either. They were just plain orange flowers. He then asked me if I just wanted the flowers or if I wanted some other greens with them. Looking at the "flowers" I almost began to cry. There was only one bloomed flower and a whole lot of buds. This was not what I wanted. How was I supposed to give these to my mom. Happy Mothers Day Mom here is a bouquet of buds. This was not the large bouquet that I had ordered. They were not ready to be picked up, they were the wrong flower. I am so upset I did not even want to give the flowers to her. I foolishly bought the "flowers" anyways because I did not know what else to do. This is the first and last time I will order flowers from here. read more

I buy flowers about 3 times a year and I like to support local mom and pops stores. My typical flower shopping experience is as follows: 1. Walk in the shop and say "I need a bouquet for x occasion and want to spend x." 2.The florist shows me a bouquet in the price range. 3. I say ring me up. Not too hard right? Been here twice. The first time went as usual. Easy, good service, good flowers. The second time the lady was disinterested and painfully lacking in communication skills. She wanted me out of there faster than you can say "baby's breath" and without any concern whether I got a bouquet I like or not. Location in Southie is great, but I always get mad when my boyfriend gets me flowers from here, because a walk-in and grab arrangement is roughly $35 (and for that money, I'd rather he get me a mani/pedi!) Everytime that I've gotten a bouquet, there are about 2 roses, some daisys, and maybe a lilly or two. Colors are always beautiful, but I've had cheaper flowers DELIVERED from ProFlowers or 1800flowers.com that have lasted longer. If you are just going in for a quick arrangement, save $30, and walk down the street to Stop and Shop. Presentation pre-vase might not be as nice, but they'll last just as long! read more

Unfortunately I have had 2 bad experiences at this florist. The first time I called asking for a price and availability quote for 3 larger party center pieces. I asked for premium flowers including cymbidium orchids with a tropical feel. I was told that I would receive a call back. I never heard back. After following-up on this myself the gentleman on the end of the line had no clue about my inquiry and was told that he would find out for me and contact me. Again never heard back. A few months later I thought I would give them another try. Called to order 2 5ft ficus plants to be delivered, was quoted about $100, and would confirm delivery the next day. Next day rolls around with no call. I called the florist and told them that I would be home anytime after 11am. They confirmed that they would delivery after 11am. At 4pm I called asking whether or not I would get a delivery as I haven't heard. They said that they never got the plants from the wholesale provider. The gentleman told me he would call me back in a few minutes and that he would find me the 2 plants I needed. Never heard back. I am all for supporting small local businesses but when service is as bad as this, I would never want to refer them to any of my friends. They seem to have received 2 positive reviews, but unfortunately my experience with them has put me off from ever doing business with them again. This review is for the E. I called from Texas to have a sympathy arrangement done for my Aunt, I could not be at her services. I picked one of the photos then added to it. I explained what I wanted colors, flowers, size, ect. My Sister was at the service and took a photo of it for me. It was AMAZING! More then I had ever expected. My Sister said if she held it up she could have hidden behind it. I have used and received flowers from Stapleton Florists many times in the past. Unfortunately, I have to say after my recent experience I will NEVER use them again. My husband got me flowers for our 1 yr wedding anniversary he brought the home from Stapleton to our house 6 miles away. They were already wilted. We added water and tried to keep them cool (our house has central AC). The next morning half of the flowers were completely wilted over and dead. I contact Stapleton first thing the next morning. Being a very high end and expensive florist I expected them to be apologetic and helpful. However, they were not. Rather the woman suggested that it was something I did something to make them die in less than 24 hours. I told her I did not they were in water when I got them I added water and kept them cool. She first suggested that I bring the flowers back to Stapleton myself, and then I suggested she have someone pick them up. I told her I did not want the flowers and I wanted my money back. She was again very rude, and said that was not their policy to return money. She acted as if replacing my dead flowers was an act of god rather than something that should be expected. These flowers cost a lot of money. I was very sorry to learn that Stapleton does not stand by their claim of having superior customer service. The floral displays are beuatiful, however the customer service at both the Seaport and the South Boston location is absolutely horrible. I have a gift certificate for this place and have been in 4 times, three times to South Boston and once to Seaport and encountered the same horrible service. Only on one occasion was my presense in the shop even acknowledged. One other time, after at least 10 minutes of wandering around, I asked for help with succulants and the clerk pointed from behind the counter at the display shelves then turned back to her lunch. This last time, four people turned and one said hello, but none offered to help after I wandered around for 10 minutes again. Needless to say, I left and still have my gift certificate but no plants. I understand letting people browse around, no one wants to feel like they are at a car dealership, however, a little effort to interact and make people comfortable would go a long way to making a sale and a positive experience. read more

Well, Stapleton Floral on Broadway has earned 5 stars and thensome. My fiance gave me a Valentine arrangement from Stapleton that was gorgeous - absolutely spectular. My only issue was that I didn't get to enjoy them as long as usual because they lost their "umph" if you will, after only 4 days or so. I emailed the shop and let them know about the unfortunate situation, hoping for a new bouquet. The response from Yianni and team was beyond anything I could have expected. Today, I received the most amazing "Welcome Baby Girl" gift basket from the team. I was really blown away. In my original email, I happened to mention that my Valentine bouquet was a 2 part present, as I had just had a baby girl and was leaving the hospital on Valentine's Day, so the bouquet was extra special. Well, Yianni and team, you will always have a loyal client in Mike and I after how you came through for us. The gift basket and card really went above and beyond and for that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We live around the corner and always get our flowers at Stapleton. Betty and Yanni are lovely, the flowers are fresh, and the staff is very talented at making arrangements. They did the flowers for our wedding two years ago and my friends still talk about the arrangements. My bouquet was made of hydrangeas, peonies and sahara roses.... Just lovely. Stapleton florist did my wedding bouquets and wedding Huppa on this past weekend. My bridal bouquet was so magnificent, beyond my vision of what I wanted!!! It was the most incredible bouquet I have ever seen! The flowers were fresh, fragrant and perfect. The pearl and crystal embellishments were beautiful and so well done! The bridesmaids bouquets were beautiful and perfect too! Boutonniers were all awesome!Three days later and everything is still beautiful!! They also did an incredible job with the Huppa (canopy) on board the deck of the Odyssey for us. It also was beautifully done, draped so nicely with gorgeous white fabric and bows! Such a perfect sight for a perfect wedding ceremony! Marian was so wonderful to work with and fulfilled my every request of what I wanted. I was able to tell her exactly what I envisioned, over the phone, and she was able to put it all together for me without even meeting in person!!! Stapletons for weddings is as good as it gets!!! I have to take a little time and stop to write a review. I stopped in last night at their East Broadway store, man was it busy! Wanted to get something for my wife and daughter. I first thought I was crazy and why did I wait to the last minute. It didn't matter, Stapleton's had so many options to choose from, the traditional roses where beautiful. I noticed they didn't use the regular baby's breath, everything just looked so upscale. Their staff by far were so accommondating, their presentation and packing were beautiful. While I was waiting you find yourself talking to others and I heard the same response from others, they are the best. Then customers are telling me how much over the years they have done for the community of South Boston. On a day like Valentines Day their employees were working like a fine oiled machine. Hats off to all of them! I know my wife and daughter were very happy and I have a funny feeling a lot others also. Cant wait until Mothers Day to see what they have instore for their customers.
