We loves this place! We found this place by accident and we've been repeat trucker customers ever since. I got out of the truck to check my trailer and the smell hit me. Onions, beef, hints of chicken hit me and I said to my wife ,"we're going". Lol breakfast is great. Great coffee. Great service. Burgers are good. Soups great. Fried chicken good. Open 24/7. Breakfast all day! The menu is big and they have Italian, Mexican, tons of breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches, soups of the day, and daily specials. The only thing I've had that wasn't up to par with everything else was an Italian dish once. But it was still okay, and I knew I was bound to find something on the huge menu that wasn't on fire. This is one of the only places I've found that I plan to try something new every time I'm here. Finally the desserts. Try the homemade cheesecakes. The ones on the big casserole glass dishes. Our food was very tasty! The service was great, and our food came out exactly as we ordered! As another review said, don't judge a book by it's cover! This little diner is attached to a gas station, so my husband was a bit hesitant. They have a ton of choices, and everything our party ordered was fantastic. The waffles were fluffy, the gyro was delicious, my club sandwich had turkey that was carved from a turkey breast.... not a packaged deli slice of meat. This place reminds me of the Greek diners you'll find along the eastern seaboard. Gigantic menus. Gigantic portions. Reasonable pricing. Example: 5.99 fried shrooms app, count stated on menu was 15. I'm certain the platter had 25+ and it came with a small soup bowl of ranch. So they know not to be stingey with the portions. They served me a perfect medium rare strip steak. Done right first trip to the table..... How my meal could have been done better is a mystery to me. Try them. You will more than likely not think it sucks. As an aside, some regulars were overheard bitching about a particular server whom was not on duty, she, apparently failed to meet the customer's expectations for such a position. Being from out-of-town we searched for places to have dinner. After looking at The Star 66 Cafe's Menu we decided to give it a try and I'm so glad we did. I had an omelette with hash browns and couldn't finish it it was so big. My husband had a patty melt and potato soup. We both left stuffed. Our only regret was that we didn't leave room for dessert. I am an Over The Road truck driver and have been coming here for 6 years now. The tilapia is fresh, the mashed potatoes are real, the soups are amazing, most of the desserts are homemade, the location is superb and the staff are super friendly. Don't discount this diner because it's attached to a gas station. The first time I went there, I returned the same day for dinner. Every time I drive down to visit family in the area, I made sure to stop at Star 66 for the amazing food and service. I believe the owners are there all of the time. They are talking to customers and getting their "hands dirty" by helping out. Everyone works so well together to take good care of their customers. With that being said, I highly recommend the fried chicken, their delicious chicken soup, and ALWAYS fresh and amazing coconut cream pie! read more

Kind of hard to rate the Star Sixty-Six Café. It's a very friendly place with very average food. We had breakfast there. The omelets tasted of the oil they were cooked in. Toast is plain, and the potatoes very good. The decaf coffee was way too mild. Very friendly place with gemütlichkeit! read more

This truck stop diner has to be the BEST "all around" restaurant in Springfield! You might find specific things at specific restaurants that are great. But this place gets mostly everything right. It's easily the best breakfast joint, sorry Charlie P's. And they have a crazy assortment to choose from. Here's a few recommendations! Breakfast Burrito - Best in the state! Biscuits n Gravy - Arguably best in Town! Waffles, skillets, it's all great! Fried Chicken - best I've ever had! All their homemade soups Ribeye - Yes! Char broiled, seasoned lightly, as good as most steak houses! Dishes that I saw and looked GREAT! Taco Salad, I think they fry their own bowls! Alfredo, looked great! We stopped here because of several Yelp reviews. We were a little surprised at the location (truck stop), but trusted the reviews. My husband had the chicken fried chicken and loved it. The chicken was crispy but not dry, and the mashed potatoes were real! In addition, he ordered a piece of blackberry pie and said it was the best he ever had! I, on the other hand, was not so lucky. I ordered the broiled chicken breast - flavor wise it was good, but the texture was rubbery. Fortunately, it came with a salad so I didn't go hungry. We would definitely stop here again. read more

What else can you say? It's one of the finest truck stop restaurants you'll find. The staff and management are wonderful. We've lived in the neighborhood for 20 years and the same faces are still there. We've stumbled in for a post drinking breakfast, we've popped in for a fast breakfast before a road trip, and we've drug our butts in for supper after a long day of manual labor. The faces are always bright, the service always quick, and the food always good. Some of the best soups around. The omelets are what I strive to make at home. There are great salad ingredient combos. My family has been having breakfast on Saturdays for many years. Twice in the past month (April) we have had to eat breakfast bundled up in our coats!!!! It is reported that the staff does not have access the thermostat. This is unacceptable. I will not eat again in my coat . Please respect your customers turn on the heat. read more

I have lived in Springfield for a year. I have been to many dinning establishments around town and I can say hands down this is the best food in Springfield. You can go here at any time on any day and get an amazing meal. Show up at 2 a.m. after a night on the town and order a sunrise special and you will be a very happy person indeed.
