WOW!!! So glad we stopped in today, I've been driving by regularly but never had time to stop. Our server was amazing and on top of our drinks, checked in several times to make sure the food was good. I believe the owner (or possibly the chef) stopped by and made sure everything was up to par as well. I honestly thought it was going to be a much smaller space as when I'd driven by it looked small, but there was so much seating inside! The decor was beautiful, too, and the music was awesome. We both had chicken and waffles and my LORD it was so good! The waffles were so crispy and flavorful (I've seriously never had waffles so good in my life) and the chicken was breaded well, perfectly seasoned, and was super fresh. I'm pretty picky about sweet tea. If Wilford Brimley doesn't side eye me with serious concern as I drink it then don't even bother. This was so perfectly southern sweet I was in heaven. Sweetest sweet tea I've had in Illinois. I'd go back for that alone even if the food was just okay. We had decided on fried green tomatoes (which were soooooo dang good and zesty!) when she told us they JUST got fried okra and I said both. Just give us both. I'm a fried okra fiend and was so happy I could've cried. The okra was fresh and perfectly crispy, and the seasonings, again, were immaculate. Absolutely cannot wait to go back. Delicious food and friendly service. It's a casual place but it's a lot of fun and the food is great.

This spot is top notch and a lifesaver for the downtown area! I've come to expect a great meal every time I visit. The server's are always thoughtful and ready to acommodate when they can. I love the wings, mac and cheese, and the savory pork chops! The layout and set-up of the restaurant is a modern open layout. My only recommendation is to get em early cause their food options do run out; it's still on my list to try the banana pudding. read more

Best catfish I've ever tasted. White, meaty and not slimy. Crust perfect. Mac and cheese great. Collard greens good. Smothered chops were a little salty but the gravy had major depth. Im so disappointed. We came based on reviews and options of food. The food took 40 min on a Wednesday and the restaurant wasn't full. No communication from the waitress, I finally asked. Food was poor quality, grisly chicken, old potatoes etc. Asked about it and the manager was very rude and had a chip on her shoulder. To start off I do understand that we had a group of 6 people, however we had all walked and and was greeted politely by our waitress and sat down, ordered drinks, and then our food around 11:35. She said that it'll be out as soon as possible. About 15 minutes goes by and we have all drank our drinks and are starting to get impatient only because we have to be back at our bus by 12:30. 10 more minutes go by and we do decide to pay after one of our members got their food. The register did go down which isn't their fault but it did cost extra time. By the time we all got our food and paid it was 12:28 and we had to run the 3 blocks to get to our bus semi-on time. Once we were able to try our food our fries were unsalted, lukewarm at best, and semi soggy. The cornbread was very dry and crumbly. The burgers and sliders tasted okay, the wings were meh. All and all I wouldn't recommend going unless you have 2-3 hours of free time. Also keep in mind we were the only people in the restaurant for the first 30 minutes of service. read more

Wow great food and good service! Went here for lunch. When trying a new place to us we try lots of different things to get a good feel for the food. We split a shrimp and buttered grits appetizer and it started the meal off just right! Then the hubby got catfish and I got chicken strips, and we ordered four different sides. Recently came here with my girlfriend to try something new in town. I took a chance and I'm lucky I didn't get food poisoning. The atmosphere was all right and the host was nice. We ordered drinks and I went into the bathroom to wash my hands. The moment I stepped in, I saw urine on the floor and on the toilet seat. There was trash everywhere and it just looked disgusting. I left the restroom and headed back to my table thinking that since I've only seen women working, they don't really go into the men's restroom to check for cleanliness. In a few minutes later, and older man wearing a dirty apron and latex gloves on, comes out from the back. He starts greeting the patrons at their tables, shaking their hands with said gloves on, while they're eating their meals. He does this for a few tables. He goes to the front of the house, and I'm hoping that he removes those gloves at any point, but he doesn't and he just heads back into what I'm assuming is the kitchen. Maybe 10 minutes later, he comes back out with a mop and bucket to clean something on the floor, with what looked like the same gloves on. Then a 14-year-old girl comes out from the kitchen area to use the restroom and then goes back in. The drinks were meh. We ordered the shrimp and grits and the smothered pork chops. I guarantee they do not have a food warmer in the back because when our food came out, it was lukewarm. It was just a disappointing experience and a place that I would never go back to. Chicken was crispy and juicy but it was all wings which was okay, just didn't expect that. Included a very delicious piece of cornbread that was a generous portion. They have a full bar and their drinks all look wonderful. Went there for lunch during work so I didn't indulge but will be back to partake after work hours. We waited 40 minutes and the other couple still didn't get their food. The first couple ate their food, and waited for the other couple to get their food. We asked several times about how much longer for the other couples food. It never came out. We left and paid our tab and had to go somewhere else for the other couple to eat. No apology was given. They made the other couple pay for their drink and appetizer, never apologizing or trying to make the situation right. We will never be back again. The service was absolutely terrible. read more

I was told my phone in order would be 20 minutes. I deliberately waited 30 minutes because I wanted to get in and out quickly due to the way I was dressed (I am working remotely today).
