For starters I've had friends who worked at multiple locations have a terrible time, which they only hire women, one of those friends was a person of color and would be treated differently then all the other workers and ended up getting slowly taken off the schedule. The other issue is they never restock. I came a couple weeks ago and asked for a roast beef sandwich, they are out. So I ask for pastrami, they are out. I ask for grilled chicken, guess what, they are out. I thought it mightve been because it was later in the day, but ever time I've tried again they NEVER have it restocked. I dont understand how you run a business but treat workers like that, and never have anything. I forgot to mention the donut crumble is just old donuts that didnt sell, so they crush them up and leave them in a bucket for rats to get to (true story from the inside, maybe run a business right and these reviews wont happen, dont let me get started on all the corners EVERY restaurant out here cuts.)

The only exception is one younger girl who always seems friendly, welcoming, and like she actually cares about giving good customer service. The donuts are okay, but nothing special. I've also ordered the breakfast sandwiches a couple of times, and when I asked for sourdough bread, I was given wheat instead (or at least it definitely didn't seem like sourdough). I wanted to keep supporting this place since it's local, but good customer service is just as important as good food, and that's been consistently disappointing.

The last time we went we got brunch and sat outside enjoying the summer breeze. They have a pretty good selection of brunch items and at good prices, from avocado toasts to sandwiches and salads. I went with the breakfast bagel sando while my husband went with the panini-grilled breakfast burrito. As far as their drinks are concerned, they have seasonal menus and also serve the usual offerings of cold brew or lattes. I ended up choosing their seasonal blackberry matcha latte with oat milk while my husband went with the lemon cream cold brew. Both drinks were made pretty quickly by the friendly lady staffing the cafe. Was the matcha the best I had? Of course not, as I've had plenty of top tier matcha from south Sac and the bay, but it was smooth and the blackberry flavor was prominent. After waiting for several more minutes, our food was ready, and we eagerly dug in. I loved that our plates were served with freshly seasonal fruit, and that neither my bagel nor my husband's burrito was oily. Both of our selections were solid choices, and we would get them again. I would've liked if I could have chosen my bagel type (perhaps they don't go through enough bagels to warrant giving people choices), but the plain one that came with the dish was still good. Fig Barn Coffee is a convenient place to stop by if you need your coffee fix to or from Sac.
