Upon recommendation from my BIL (Brother in law), he says this place is a hidden gem, we decided to give it a whirl. I chose the tuna melt, minus the grilled tomato slices. The tuna was simple, I'm not even sure if there was mayonnaise in it. Served on sliced sourdough with red onion and cheddar cheese, i found it deliciously satisfying. The sandwich is stuffed with tuna and I could have ordered a half sandwich and it would have been enough to stuff my belly. My Hubs ordered the vegetarian sandwich with potato salad on the side. He finished his sandwich, which was stuffed with lots of fresh veggies and sliced provolone cheese. He enjoyed it to the last bite! We were split on the potato salad. My Hubs liked the sweet pickles and the freshness of the chopped celery added to the recipe. I prefer zero pickles in my potato salad, but still enjoyed a few bites. The texture of the salad was pleasing and the amount of mayonnaise was very balanced. The soup of the day was, chicken and dumplings. I was disappointed that I wasn't in a place to order a bowl to take away. Next time for sure. The service was friendly and efficient and everyone appeared to be enjoying their food choices. Driving through the town and decided to stop and get some late lunch on a Wednesday. I ordered the BLTA and my husband got the sausage with onions and peppers. While waiting I used the non-gender restroom, which was very clean. My husband sandwich was amazing. My BLTA didn't seem to have very much tomato but was generous in the bacon, all personal preference. I give them the four stars because although we were there sat and eating 30 minutes before they close, they were still pushy about closing, and we're even talking about customers coming in at the last minute after they obtained their order and walked out. They were putting the chairs up at the tables next to the people that were sitting there eating. They had just sat down. I understand, trying to prep for closure, but put all of this together with the conversation and it was a bit much. read more

At best this place was marginal. The bread was dry on both sandwiches. The tuna salad was minimalistic and lacked any flavor. I went with two meats on my sandwich that was mostly one meat and a small slice of another. The interior is simple and lacking. I hate to say it but the service was minimal as well. While I don't require disabled parking for myself, I do have family members and friends that it helps when placed properly. In this case it's far from that. There is one disabled parking spot at the bottom of the parking lot yet there is ample room for parking at the top of the property. When I go to a deli, I expect the best and this wasn't it. Ultimately, do yourself a favor and go to the grocery store by the exact same supply's and have a better experience making your own sandwich. read more

It has everything you need to refuel with snack and drinks and numerous other items. We went here specifically for the sandwiches for lunch. I'm already craving another sandwich! My husband had found this spot while antique shopping with his mom when she was visiting California and immediately knew I'd love it. He even sent me photos which made me seriously jealous and I added it to my bookmarks right away. The small shop has tables for dining in and a breakfast and lunch menu along with coffees and other drinks. When I finally was able to visit my husband and I both got sandwiches. I ordered the Italian Sub that comes with salami, prosciutto, ham, pepper jack, oil & balsamic, salt and pepper, pepperoncini, mayo, mustard and onion on a fresh sourdough roll and B got the Turkey Bacon Ranch that has turkey, bacon and cheddar on a soft roll with ranch- he opted out of the tomato and lettuce and added pickle. We both LOVED our sandwiches and really, I should have ordered an extra to take home with me. We also tried a cup of the clam chowder that was really tasty, but the sandwiches are the stars for me. It looked like they had a lot of regulars coming in as well as a lot of to-go orders. The staff was really friendly and since we dined in they brought our food to us on plates. This place is delicious! We went to the "Mother Load to go" next to a Brewery in Pine Grove. I had the chicken sandwich which was made with a lot of flavor and the buns were soft and buttery. My Honey had the juicy cheese burger and garlic fries. The garlic fries were perfect. Not to garlicky. The young lady at the window was very pleasant and helpful. Ordered 3 custom sandwiches and they got it right even during a lunch rush and we were out the door in under 10 min. My daughter enjoyed the dumpling soup, but it needed some pepper. Not a big deal, I'd rather add it myself than eat it with too much to begin with. It was a good soup. If I ever come back, I'd love to try the Turkey. I read in an article on the counter that they roast their own turkey and if I knew this when I walked in, I probably would have gotten that instead. They always say, "go where the locals go". In this case, this is probably the top notch deli (and sandwich shop) in ALL of Amador County. This takes on a trip to the wonderful historic city of Jackson, CA where you will find the one and only "Mother Lode Market & Deli". Located directly on Main Street, Mother Lode Market & Deli has been serving up locals and tourists for years. Since this city is a bit on the sleepier side, parking shouldn't be too much of an issue. My lady and I found a spot to park in a small free public lot just 1/2 a block away. We decided on getting a light lunch prior to going to a cave tour and later, Jackson Rancheria Casino. When we arrived on the afternoon of Saturday 9/15/18 at around 1:25pm, it was surprisingly not busy at all. The inside of the deli was very quaint, charming, and had a very homely feeling to it. There were dozens of historic photographs of Jackson throughout the years dating as far back as the gold rush days. There were also several awards posted on the wall that this place has won year after year. To me, that was very reassuring that this was the right choice. Their menu itself offers quite a unique variety including breakfast items, quiches, salads, soups, paninis, wraps, and of course, their signature sandwiches. We both decided on ordering a build-your-own sandwich (for $7.50). In this case, I went with a whole size of their turkey w/American cheese, lettuce, and sprouts on a soft roll. Our sandwich was ready within just a few minutes. Overall, the bread was the real winner here as it was soft and tasted as if it came right out of the oven. They were also very generous with the layers of turkey as everything was absolutely fresh and on point. And looking at other items in the deli case (salads, pastas, and soups), I can tell that this place is a real winner in my book. I would definitely recommend coming here if you wish to spend the day exploring the Gold Country. My rating, a perfect five stars. read more

I came here on a Tuesday and there was not much open in Jackson. I wanted some coffee and this looked like the only place open for coffee. We also wanted a quick lunch so I ordered the kids the mini sliders. They asked what kind of meat and cheese we wanted, which was nice, but I didn't realize the sliders would be just cold cuts and cheese, and not warm or toasted. It came with a side of fruit. I ordered a single latte and that was probably my mistake as it tasted entirely of milk and barely any espresso. There was plenty of seating for social distancing. I think this place is good in a pinch but not a place I would seek out. read more
