I went to get a window shade for my bathroom. I provided the measurements, and it was cut like someone did it in the dark. It looks awful and I'm glad it was under $10. The whole shade was cut in a messy, jagged manner. The stick at the bottom was also cut jaggedly and not secured, as shown in my picture. If I wasn't in such a rush and knew that this is the type of work they do, I would've inspected it closely before paying and rushing out. read more

Even gate surrounding the entire property. When it was all done. I stood there and cried. I had lived in that home since I was 11 yrs old, and never had it looked that magnificent. I was locked in my apartment one day after a delivery came. It was a Sunday afternoon and everyone was closed. The delivery person was locked in with us. I called Stargate and Lock, Mickey picked up; I told him my dilemma; he sent Jeff. We were out and with a new more secure lock in a matter of minutes. I came in today with hopes of finding a piece needed for my bathroom & kitchen sink faucets. Instead I was met with rudeness, abruptness and horrible customer service. When I first walked in I was met by a nice gentleman that directed someone else to help me. Said person walked me to the area where the piece I needed is located. After answering a few questions he became annoyed, rude & not a person I would want to do business with. I kindly said thank you and walked out. The biggest crooks I've worked with. I sincerely hate to leave a such a review (especially a family business), but I would be doing the Bronx a disservice to not share my horrid experience. Jeff came to my home in November to change all my locks after a new home purchase. My mother-in-law has been doing business with them for years, so they came as a recommendation. At first everything seemed fine, but around February the handle on my front door came loose. I called Jeff, and he came to my home the same day and told me this is common for the winter, and took some WB-40 sprayed it and tightened the screw, he was there for all of 10 minutes before he charge me $100. I was obviously confused by this because 1. It had only been 2-3 months since he last came and charged me a ridiculous amount money ($1,200 to change 3 locks) so figured it would be complementary as it should be covered under some sort of warranty 2. Even if there was no warranty, $100 is kind of steep for some oil and a tightened screw, but because he had a good relationship with my in-laws I didn't want to argue so I gave him the $100. Now fast forward, in August the door handle comes loose again, this time the parts go everywhere and we may have misplaced a spring as a result. He comes back, he said we needed to buy a new handle as a result of a missing spring. So longer story a bit shorter, he installs the new handle and attempts to charge me $400 (including 163 for the lock, which only cost him $140). I told him how I thought it was extremely unfair being that he was only here a few months ago, and this wasn't a hardware issue, it was the result of the job being improperly done the 1st time. He went on and on, and got extremely defensive to the point that he yells at me tells me he's not some twenty something year old kid. At this point, I give him the money for the handle (that he overcharged me for) and told him to have a nice day. He then threatens to call my mother in law and tell her what a brat I am. What a loser. They are used to taken advantage of loyal customers, that do not know any better. Not to mention, he walked all over my newly waxed hardwood floors leaving skid marks all over the place. And after all of this he then says he will not deal with me anymore. No Jeff, I will not deal with YOU anymore. There are tons of other locksmiths, we don't need the scam artists. You need customers, not the other way around. read more

We needed a blackout shade installed. Our window frame was metal and we couldn't do it ourselves. Star Gate provided a handyman, who was on time, COVID-safe, quick and did the job with a minimum of disruption. We can now sleep a whole lot better. read more

the prices in here are ridiculously high. i sent my son in there to buy a 32 oz can of stain and gave him a $10 bill which is what this costs in every other store in america. he came back to the car with an 8 oz can and $1. in change. i told him this is the small can and to return it because the price is 4x what it should be. they refuse to take it back and would only give hime a store credit. they are rude over priced and i wouldnt be here typing all of this and wasting my time if i didnt feel a need to inform any interested shoppers that they are a bunch of thieves!! read more
