It wasn't a large portion but it had enough flavor and was so excellently arranged that I immediately wanted another. Good thing I waited for my brain to understand I had already eaten comfortably enough. We also shared a pizza: top notch composition, delicately arranged toppings, everything on that pizza complemented its culinary neighbor. The chicken sandwich looked like a bread thing inside sliced bread. But oh man, I'd have that thing again. The gyro was unlike any I've had before in its appearance. Again, it's good to not judge beforehand because once you taste the food here, you're giving thanks for all the skill and knowledge created by the chef. Dining here was a cherry on top of our day at the property. My only downside is the lack of gluten free options for one person in our party however we did make it work it was just a smaller meal for them. However I had the chicken sandwich that had a delicious mango chutney and curry seasoning on it. Those are my kind of flavors so I was in heaven!! The salt and vinegar potatoes were very interesting again bold in flavor but hard to pair with other options. We also got the sausage pizza and it was so cheesy and delicious. Service was 10/10! And the ambience was relaxing and well decorated. I also loved it was farm to table. I will say it was on the pricer side however that's to be expected for farm to table in a secluded area. Came here with a group to eat after our tour. Felt like a tourist trap - the chicken wing appetizer was awful - rubbery skin, tough tendons running through that reminded me of undercooked turkey legs. We paid $11 for a deviled egg appetizer and got FOUR halves of deviled eggs... so essentially two eggs for $11. The pizza and burgers my friends ordered were not very well received. My catfish tacos were good. Cocktails were very small for the price. Would not return again next time I'm in the area. read more

Excellent dining experience at Maker's Mark Distillery. We had Tanya and she was so helpful, checking in about our allergies and making sure we had our food in time for our tour. The dining space is beautiful, gotta love repurposed buildings that maintain history, but are updated! We stopped in for lunch after finishing our bourbon tour and we got seated right away despite it being a fairly full dining room. Not the biggest space but it was cozy. After our excellent distillery tour and time in the gift shop (dipped our bottles in the signature red wax)- lunch at Star Hill Provisions was a great way to end our time at Maker's Mark. We had a bit of a wait during prime lunch time (about 20 minutes), but it was well worth the wait. The service was excellent and the restaurant had an easy-going vibe. No surprise- the drink selection was top-notch. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the Bread Service starter was some of the yummiest bread we've ever had! The Wagyu Burger was a tasty lunchtime offering and I would recommend. The Lasagnwich (think lasagna sandwich) was less successful- and although you might be intrigued- I'd give that one a pass. I have been many times over the years and it never disappoints. I know they have also gone thru changes many times over the years and still deliver great food and a great experience. We were there midweek before our tour. We had Chicken Pakora Sandwich, Lasagnwich and fries. The Chicken Pakora was really good. It was juicy and a balanced amount of curry flavor. The Lasagnwich is what it sounds like, lasagna on ciabatta bread. It was so good, I might have to try at home with leftovers. We sat outside. It was very peaceful. The service was very good. A little note is that servers are paid a salary so no tipping is necessary. Great job to management for taking care of the workers. If you go to Makers, make time to eat here. read more

Quite simply one of the best meals ever (and that is saying something) ... The Cauliflower Soup was just amazingly delicious, and refreshing and a very nice serving, easily shared with my wife. My wife order the Chicken Sandwich, I had the hamburger... sounds simple, but the Chicken Sandwich had an amazing mango (I think) sauce, and the hamburger was juicy and tender, and about the best I ever had. For desert tried the Bourdon, Bread Pudding, which, again was the best ever. I should have ordered two. It is lightly covered with an appricot sauce, then vanilla sauce. WOW! Also, the service is delightful... and at the bottom of the menu, it states, Tip is included (so considereing this, prices are quite reasonable) as all staff get full pay, with benefits! How nice. Visited Star Hill before our Makers Mark tour. Was immediately seated. Large farms are on as it is a hot June day. The temp inside is very comfortable, but the fans are quite noisy. Service has been quick and professional. Chose the bread flight. Breads were nice and toothy however the butter was quite cold and unspreadable. Strawberry jelly was delicious. The pickled beets were lightly pickled. My son ordered the bourbon ice cream and apple pie. Yes, his parents are a bit indulgent on this trip. We ordered the Wyagu burger with fries. Decent stop if you need to kill time and are hungry before your tour starts. Pricey, but figured as much being where we are and we got drinks too, so makes sense. Fried chicken was pretty tasty, fresh, fall off the bone, properly greasy and thin yummy flakey breading!! Came with some nice roasted carrots, coulda done without the tasteless peas tho. You could tell those were just once frozen peas. My bf had the cheeseburger which was only average. Fried chix was MUCH MUCH better than the burger. Sounds like tho this place used to be better, but might still be suffering during to rebounding from COVID. However, Fried chix was a good lunch *thumbs up* in a lovely spot! read more

Very nice lunch stop before or after a Maker's Mark tour. Nice to sit outside and look at the beautiful grounds. And the food is excellent, although a bit pricey (hence the four star rating). On a recent visit, I had a chicken wrap and a buddy had a country ham and cheese sandwich for lunch. Both were very good. The menu is a bit limited but I would think the other offerings would be just as good. Will note a couple of years ago, my wife and I did an evening special "smoked dinner" with paired Maker's cocktails. It was absolutely outstanding. Not sure if they still have the award winning chef they used to have, but based on that I would say if you have a chance to do one of the special evening dinners at Maker's, go for it! read more

I am sure COVID has done a number on this place. It used to be known for fabulous lunches and great cocktails, but as it tries to recover, it has an uphill battle to face. Ownership has been an issue and getting a full menu up and running has been challenging. We brought friends visiting from Florida here, thinking we would have lunch. Unfortunately, there were only two options on the menu and they were 3 meatballs for $15 and pimento cheese and chips. Very underwhelming. The drink options were good bit over priced. The main problem-bees and yellow jackets they were swarming everywhere and making it impossible to enjoy food or conversation. I know places like this try natural methods for pest control, but there are situations when I think more aggressive methods should be considered. Keep an eye out for their menu to expand and pests to vanish. read more

Maker's Mark was the last stop on our trip and boy, was it a delight. The grounds were absolutely beautiful - perfect fall trees everywhere, well-taken care of buildings, and the cutest little restaurant/bar with drinks and snacks to satisfy those cravings! We each ordered a festive drink, all were delicious and STRONG... yum! Such a great way to start the Maker's Mark experience. We also ordered the burrata with pumpkin chunks. It was SO good; it was drizzled in honey and was smooth and scrumptious. We then ordered the pimento dip with corn bread, and that was creamy and flavorful. After our little snack, we did a tour with Alyssa and she was superb! She was very friendly and knowledgeable. She talked us through the entire process of making bourbon and walked us through the main parts of their campus. We finished the tour with a tasting of 5 different options and even got to try one of their private selections (if you know about their private selection series... they are to die for. Absolutely incredible!) To top off our visit, we got to hand dip and wax our bottles. Overall, this tour was a great experience. No complaints. read more

Umm... Consider me another one duped by Star Hill Provisions' spot on Top Chef. This restaurant was actually the inspiration behind our trip to Kentucky in the first place. Sadly Star Hill Provisions was nothing at all what I had imagined. I don't want to say it was bad, because it wasn't, but the menu is very limited, and nothing that screams "Southern" cooking in my opinion. For example, there isn't a single barbeque item on the menu. Doesn't that seem odd? Maybe I'm just a tourist, but I don't get it. I'm not sure what the inspiration is/was behind Chef Miller's menu, but it missed the mark according to my expectations. Star Hill Provisions is ok if you show up early for your tour and need to get something to eat. Just don't get your hopes up for a mind-blowing meal. You're going to place your order from a limited menu cafeteria style, and sit at a picnic table of sorts with your corresponding order number on the table signaling to the server where to go with your food. I had a meatloaf sandwich and my girlfriend had a Benedictine sandwich with bacon (I suppose hers is pretty Kentucky). Both were good, just... No ham, no beer cheese, no biscuits, no burgoo? On the bright side of things, however, I can highly recommend the distillery tour. The grounds at Maker's Mark are absolutely stunning. The tour is very informative, and everyone along the way is as pleasant as can be. The people definitely put forth the Kentucky charm. The restaurant; not so much. read more

The menu was very limited with 5 choices for a main lunch service. I went with the burger and fries. It wasn't bad food, but when my burger at Culver's the night before was tastier, they kind of gives you the quality of taste for this burger. Fries were battered, but I needed ketchup to add some flavor: a last resort when I can't eat them straight up. Perfect stop after an awesome tour. It's a little house on the back leg of the Maker's Mark Distillery property. Converted to a small but slightly gourmet restaurant for seating about 20 or so up and downstairs. We had the most delicious flatbread bourbon glazed brisket. It was a great way to end our tour. The bus will immediately drop you there after the tour and they will call to have him jaunt you back up to the parking area. Just first class all the way! read more
