*****BEWARE Star Hyundai Dealership***** The pros is that some sales Rep are great. Andrew sold me a car and he was patient and once he knew my style he got it on the nose. The Cons: They are Thief's!!!!!!!! When you get a loan with them look over everything! They sell it to 2 other banks and if you don't catch it on time you will never finish paying off your car. Make sure you have a complete copy of your car warranty. Call the company Hyundai and/or if it's a third party to make sure your car is covered. From my experience when I first got my car the warranty was to cover the entire car for a hundred thousand miles, except for brakes. After few years my car was giving problems and I took it back to the Hyundai service department, where they told me that my car wasn't covered. At that point I found out my name wasn't under the Hyundai warranty but a third party. So unhappy I went back to Hyundai to see why this happen, I was lead to the Finance Manager. BEWARE OF VADIM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Finance Manager, not only is he rude and made me feel so uncomfortable, he insulted me by offering me to pay off late payments, my mortgage instead of giving me the correct warranty to fix my car. Well, I didn't go in today expecting to buy a new car but my mother needed a car and had been looking at some used car options. I was with her today running other errands and when we drove by the dealership, I figured let me just go in and see what a new Accent or Elantra would run and if it would be feasible with her budget and my help. From the moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by Tae and explained my situation to him. He was completely understanding, personable and knowledgeable and I felt no pressure at all like I have felt in other car dealerships over the years. He and the finance guy Vayim found a way to make my numbers work. I left a deposit and continued on my errands so they can get the car ready and when I came back 3 hours later, my mother drove off the lot in her new Elantra AND there were no surprises - what we agreed upon before I left was what was on the contract! STAY AWAY. Only giving 5 stars so this will even show because I know they will try to hide this. I was there last year trying to purchase a vehicle and the initial test drive wasnt bad but they were trying to get me into vehicles way beyond my means. Now thats not the issue, I work in the car business as well so I know when it comes to dealers how vehicle searching goes but my experience with this place has far been the worst ever. I told them specifically to only run my credit one time due to the fact I knew I had challenged credit and multiple hard inquires can ruin someones name drastically. BUT what they did was run my credit 6 DAMN times without my consent even after I purchased a vehicle and had called them multiple times to stop running my name and told them I had bought elsewhere and yet they didnt stop until I threatened further action. They finally stopped... Now a year and a half later. Im screwed credit wise and cant fix it because the creditors require information from the dealership.So i did multiple attempts to contact them in regards to this so I can fix this error on THEIR behalf. NO RESPONSE!! Finally I get someone when I call i get transferred -- now.. this is down right the worst way to talk to a customer. After explaining the situation, the manager tried to look up my name and claimed he found nothing and I basically got told not their problem and If i need to take further action then whatever and was very rudely hung up on. After visiting seven, yes ! seven different dealerships in the Tri State area i purchased a 2012 Sonota hybrid from Star Hyundai. They gave me the best deal by far and were extremely accommodating regarding all aspects of my purchase. My salesman was Andrew Lee. After dealing with other salespeople Andrew was a pleasure to deal with. He does not fit the typical stereotype of a "car salesman". He was honest , not overly aggressive or pushy and i found him to be extremely knowledgeable about my vehicle. After my purchase he spent a great deal of time with me explaining all the vehicles features . I have received several follow up calls from him since my purchase and he returns my calls promptly when i have had any questions or concerns relating to my car. The dealerships manager is Zach Lintz. I didn't have to much interaction with him while i was negotiating the price of the vehicle. I actually found that to be quite refreshing. The whole salesperson / manager "tag team" high pressure sales pitch can be quite unpleasant and unfortunately it seems to be a common place occurrence at most dealerships. After i made my purchase i was introduced to Zack and have had a few dealings with him since relating to my car. I found him to be extremely accommodating to my requests and truly believe that should i have any future issues or concerns regarding my car that he will address them and resolve them in a timely manner. I don't recall the finance managers name, but he too was very nice to deal with as well. He didn't try to give me a "hard sell" on my extended warranty options. He simply told me what was available to me should i elect to purchase any additional warranties. Overall i found purchasing my car at Star to be a pleasant experience. I am a extremely prudent and diligent shopper and i was very comfortable with both the purchase price of my vehicle and the service that i received and can expect to receive in the future. Star hyundai hmmm where shall I begin. Was dealing with a gentleman named Tommy. He was cool I have no problems with him. problems I have was the car that he sold me a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. First year of the car fine then the next year engine problems especially when I was driving it cuts off. Took it to the auto repair shop for Hyundai and was trying to give me a hard time. Had to submit proof that I didn't maliciously damage the engine. Receiving lots of letters of vehicle recalls about the vehicle.i had to submit proof like oil change receipts just to show I've did my part. Took in the car in June and didn't get it back till September. No rental reimbursement till august. and it almost took me 3 months for the car to get repaired. Had to pay a starter $450. After I get my car back noticed the airbag light is on and smelled an oil gas scent as I put on the A/C. Dealt with too much with this car. My health is more worth it than being stuck inside a gas smelled car. And to have a 1st owner with 5 accidents well i never knew that till I wanted to trade in this car. Glad I don't have to worry about this headache anymore. And thanks to the car I have negative equity towards my next car thank you very much star hyundai!!!! read more

This is truly the worst place on earth. I am currently in the process of filing complaints with the state and Hyundai corporate. To keep this review short, at one point during the conversation with my dealer who I thought was a down to earth genuine human being (Mark), he said to me, "do you have that in writing," to refer to an objection I made to paying him an additional $450 after the contract was signed, after the down payments and deposits and all possible fees were paid, to have my license plates released to me. I still do not have my plates after continuous lying and being misled the last 2 weeks (including an "overnight" mailing of my plates on Thursday- it is now Monday and no plates). I will be paying out of pocket to rent a car to use since my brand new car is un-driveable. I will also add that my brand new car had to be cleaned not once, but twice, because of some sort of mechanical oil on the interior. I was also hung up on by Zach (the manager) when I attempted to have a conversation about what to do in the event I do not have my plates. My rant will end there. read more

Just purchased my new car (2013 Hyundai Sonata LE) from here and I enjoyed my experience more than the other dealerships I visited. I dealt with Paul Lu and the manager Zach. I feel I got a fair deal with little salesmanship. The main complaint I can and will make is that after I agreed to make the purchase we agreed for me to come back in 2 hours to finish up, but when I came back two hours later I still had to wait two and a half more hours until I finally drove away with my car. That pissed me off. They said the major delay was that the two items which I negotiated for inclusion (iPod cable and wheel locks) had to come from the parts department and then they had to install the wheel locks. The parts department is less than 10 minutes away by car so I don't understand why it took so long. If you're interested in a Hyundai this is a good place. This is my second Hyundai so I suggest the brand. Shop around with other dealers. When I was negotiated it helped me greatly that I had shopped around. read more

We bought a used car today from this dealership. We had spent the past two days dealing with three other dealerships in the NYC and Long Island areas, and every one of those experiences was awful. It was completely different when we dealt with Mark at Star Hyundai. He was great. He was straightforward, gave us all the info we needed over the phone, when we arrived there were no "hidden" or additional charges, and we knew from our other experiences that the price was very fair. We actually bought a new car from Mark several years ago and we went to him now because we remembered how great it was to deal with him back then. We hadn't wanted to go all the way to Queens to get a car this time, which is why we didn't call him at first. But it turned out to be totally worth it. Can't recommend him highly enough. Truly a different experience than with every other car salesman we've come into contact with over decades of buyig cars for ourselves and our four kids. read more

I visited many Hyundai dealerships and got poor service at Long Island City & White Plains as their other reviews show. This had been the first dealership I went to and did have great service working with Philip Robinson. Although my purchase was not made at this location, I would definitely recommend Philip Robinson. I felt really bad as he is the one I sat with the longest from the beginning, he stayed after hours, he responded to all my e-mails and did the best with his offer. I felt pretty comfortable with him from the beginning. I did not have a problem with the offer, it was the availability of the specific color I wanted for a 2016 vehicle. They only had 1 in stock and they were unable to swap with other dealerships and I really did not want to settle on the 1 color they had but I almost did. I really would have liked to have this sale go on his record but unfortunately my decision was not based on his service at all as he did all is his power to try and have my business. I was pretty picky in what I wanted and I did not want to settle for a color that did not appeal to me. I would not hesitate in visiting this dealership again in the future as well as Potamkin. I went to Star Hyundai after having a really BAD experience with the Hyundai dealership in Long Island City...and I have to admit that there is a BIG difference in how they are treating their possible clients. We went at Star Hyundai late in the evening looking for a specific CPO car, and Tommy greet us in a very friendly way. He took the time to show us the car and explain the features, told us what to check at the car and things that needs to be replaced in the near future, and things that were already replaced on the car...bottom line he was/looked to be an honest and transparent sales person. The test drive was great...and we decided to get the car, although we did not had the time to check all the features...Tommy told us that we can come the next day to verify the rest of the car components. He was sincere about all the fees, commissions, etc...pretty much able to provide on the spot the final price that we have to pay (note that I had to spend 2 HOURS with the crooks from Hyundai of Long Island City to get an estimate of the final price, not even the final final price). Tommy took care of all paperwork, and the next day we got car. The manager Zach was friendly as well and able to negotiate for a fair price. So far the car is GREAT, no issues and I honestly do not expect anything major in the future. Star Hyundai really has a great car selection and a very good sales staff...make sure to you ask for Tommy when you get there...he is awesome! (PS: I am yet to deal with their car service department, so I'm just hoping to get the same friendly and honest treatment as Tommy did) read more
