Let me just start off by saying that this place? Is shit. Went in to get my iPhone 6s + repaired they fixed my screen but I also needed my LCD repaired I ended up paying them $200 dollars cash. I went home pretty happy that they had fixed my phone so fast! So 2 days pass & as I'm using my phone it all of a sudden freezes & shuts off... I tried turning it back on and all of a sudden some weird white lines appeared on my phone ... I call the guy and he tells me to bring it in so he can inspect it. I bring it in and he tells me that he can't fix it cause the phone has "physical damage" I was all like what the hell? I haven't even dropped it! read more

Horrible service. Don't come here at all. I brought in an iPhone 5s for screen repair and Daniel said he would do it. He comes out again and says the phone is a "little bent" and for $10 more he can bend it "properly" for the screen to fit in properly. I agreed. This is where it turns bad. He comes back out after 40 minutes and says he fixed the phone. He then cuts the side chassis of my phone with the box cutter RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I asked why he's doing that and he said "I'm doing the service you agreed to" and I said "no you caused more damage to my phone" He said "your phone was cracked and I fixed it. This is a seperate issue. Your phone was a piece of shit and I fixed it" I said "had I known you were going to damage the chassis I would've just told you to replace the screen without adjusting any "bent" casings" and told him I wouldn't pay for such a crappy service. He started recording me on his phone with another customer in the lobby. He says "this is why you can't afford the phone and can't afford to pay" I walk out the store and he follows me outside. He threatened to call the cops so I said go ahead. I start recording him on my phone too and walked back inside. Once I started recording him I said "call the cops. I thought you were calling them?" And he said "you know what, you're poor and I'll just give you the donation for the screen." ALL RECORDED ON VIDEO!!! This guy is going to try to troll me on social media but I can play that game as well. He probably didn't know I had a WORKING IPHONE7 that I had on me while he repaired my iPhone5s What a work. DANIEL IS FUCKING HORRIBLE. When someone says "that's not my fault and your problem" and tells you that "he doesn't deal with customers shit" you know your business acumen is bad. NEVER AGAIN! I'd like to begin this tale of disappointment by noting that I absolutely detest writing negative yelp reviews. I'm typically a very warm and bubbly character. I love looking at life as a glass half full, and I'm rather quick to forgive, but when I'm treated like less than a human being, well then, for the sake of humanity, I'll deal with the uncomfortable and do something I don't like in order to steer other sweet and sensitive souls clear of despicable behavior. I called Star Wireless and Repair tonight because I was having issues with a used iPad that I recently purchased. Right off the bat, Daniel, who I'm assuming is the owner, wasn't super friendly, but he gave me the information that I requested. He told me it would be $20 or $140 to fix the iPad (depending on the situation) and that I could come in right then. I was eager to get the thing fixed, and I liked that the shop was open until 10pm on a Sunday, so I drove over. First of all, the area is not the best. It took me 20min just to find a parking spot on a Sunday at 9pm, and I had to jam tight in between two abandoned-looking cars. Also, I swear I witnessed a drug deal on the sidewalk as I was walking in, not to mention, I was welcomed by a strong aroma of marijuana inside. Daniel was helping two customers when I arrived, but he saw me and asked what I needed. I told him who I was and that I had just called. He then grabbed the iPad from me and proceeded to tell some kid in the back, "Hey, since you're new, you can fix this one. It's going to be $20 or $140." I then told Daniel that I would need to know what the problem was first because I only wanted to fix it if it was the minor $20 issue. I didn't like that he just said the price as if he was going to do whatever he wanted to it without consulting me first with the cost to repair. Then he tells me in an extremely rude manner, "Just take a seat ma'am. I'm not even going to ask your name because you're too unstable." Unstable? Because I politely mentioned that I wanted to know the issue and the price before I was charged? Unstable because I ask questions before making commitments when large sums of money are involved? He then snickered with the customers he was helping, as if he was hoping to get a rise out of them by treating me like dirt! Having respect for myself and not wanting to do business with such a sleaze-ball, I immediately asked for my iPad back. I told him that I had been very kind to him and that there was no reason for him to treat me so rudely. He sarcastically replied with, "I've been kind to you, too. I'm glad I didn't ask for your name because I don't want to know your name!" He literally said all of this in front of two other customers. I have never been so barbarously treated by a business owner in my life. I drove to Star Wireless Repair very optimistic about fixing my iPad, but I left very hurt and disenchanted. No transparency as to time and cost, and lousy customer service. Needing my phone repaired, I called this shop to get a ballpark figure of the time to diagnose the issue as well as produce a quote. I was told a diagnostic can be completed in one hour. I showed up at the shop and immediately had my sense of smell assaulted by the stench of marijuana. The lady at the counter was friendly enough, stating that the technician Daniel just stepped out but would be back shortly. A few minutes later a rodent-faced dudebro with dead eyes walks in and heads to the back of the store. The lady apologizes saying that they are very busy, if I would leave the phone they'll complete the diagnostic and call me in 2 hours at my backup number with the outcome and a repair time. Seeing the time estimate change once I showed up foretold trouble, but needing my phone fixed quickly, against better judgment I left my phone with them. After 3 hours I call to follow up. The lady apologizes, saying "We've been very busy, would I mind calling in one hour?" After the hour I call back. Daniel picks up the phone, and starts saying that the cost will be $$$ and its going to take several more hours to work on it. He tells me I can pick it up at 1 AM, even though the listed hours have the store closing at 10 PM. I ask about the inconsistency of the pickup time and for the outcome of the diagnostic. I've had an HTC M8 One since 2014 that has been more reliable and efficient than any cell phone I've owned over the past 22 years. When it mysteriously went dead last week, I was pissed and perplexed! I Googled local repair shops and chose Star Wireless based on the consistently high Yelp & Google reviews. Upon arriving there, I surrendered my phone for evaluation and was informed that there was a $30 evaluation fee that would be applied to the overall cost of repairing my phone. As I sat and waited for the evaluation results, numerous people streamed through and picked up repaired phones & tablets or dropped them off for evaluation. The guy who was quarterbacking at the counter was knowledgeable and friendly. It was also reassuring to observe that no customers were relaxed and smiling--a telltale sign of good service! Needless to say,, I paid $60 total for a software upgrade that revived my phone and unlocked additional features! The technician was a guy named Begench who took special care because his father has the same phone. Location was easy to find and there was free parking in back. Service was incredibly slow. I was quoted 45 minutes and it took nearly 2 hours to replace my screen. Their replacement glass is probably the poorest I've ever had. I've replaced my screen a number of times, always with a 3rd party glass. The glass they use makes it incredibly hard to text or swipe and smudges incredibly easily. My space key went haywire for about an hour until I cleaned it with hand sanitizer and a napkin. The place is great! Staff is friendly, and the work was quick! It's been around 3 weeks since I got my screen changed. The mark off is from the screen that they installed. They did not have the OEM screen for my iPhone 6, so I went with the cheaper replica option. The problem is that the replica screen has very bad viewing angles if you tilt your phone to the side a little, the screen goes white and blurry, also the colors are not as vibrant, they seem duller and just not as colorful if that makes sense. It's like looking at the screen with some kind of filter constantly on. The price is good though! 50$ for such a procedure is not bad at all! But again to me, it all comes down to the quality of the screen, also keep in mind that I could not pick the OEM screen if that one addresses my issues it would be 5/5. read more

I was quoted 140 and was given an estimated wait time of 1 hour. Per Daniels request 2 hours for a wait time would be even better. As the 2 hour wait time is approaching the near end I call to ask about the progress of the screen replacement and to my surprise they do not have the screen needed to replace my screen and would "probably" have the screen in about another 45 minutes per Daniel. As I was on the phone with Daniel he was completely rude, argumentative, impolite, and unapologetic stating things like "Like I said for the third time". Daniel if our conversation is an indicator of how you treat your other customers I'm so thankful I sought services elsewhere. OKAYYYY never mind. After the 2nd week of getting my phone fixed I noticed a weird clicking sound every time I would press down on the screen. Then I realized my screen was slowly lifting off so I pushed it back into place. I guess that didn't do the trick because it kept happening. But that's not all, I was out of town this past weekend and had my phone on a vibrating speaker that was about 1 foot off the ground. I'm guessing the speaker vibrated hard enough to knock my phone over and guess what, the whole screen was hanging off!!!!!! Incredibly poor and unprofessional service. I contacted the company to schedule an appointment, and I was shooed off the phone, told that no appointment was needed, and the part would be available the next day. I tried to ask questions (because I would've actually been okay w/ a white frame on my black device--cool/unique factor), but I was shut down and told, "There's a'lotta' people in here; I have to go." When I called the next day, I was told that the part was still unavailable, and they had no idea when it would arrive. ("It depends on when we order it." Umm, can you order it NOW?) After two weeks of phone tag, I drove to Downtown LA during lunch only to find that the location had moved, but there was no update to Groupon w/ the new address. A man at one of the businesses in the old location gave me info about the new location. I walked several blocks to the new location to see that the business was closed at 11am. I called the number and spoke to a groggy man, awaking from slumber, who told me Star would be opening between 12 and 1pm. I asked "Which one? 12 or 1?" And he said he didn't know but some time between 12 and 1. (How professional!) Finally, I was able to carve out time to take my iPad in, and I experienced overt racism while waiting. Employees used the "N" and "B" words and forced me to endure the auditory assault of misogynistic, "trap" rap, rife w/ pejoratives and expletives while I was trying to read during my wait. (I even told the guy before he started, when he offered to turn on the TV, that I was going to read. Newsflash: all Black people don't want to hear 2 Chainz, nor is it professional for a business to play that cacophony, especially the versions w/ expletives. I'd even be comfortable w/ Old School Hip Hop or Aceyalone, NOT w/ Nicki Minaj.) I witnessed an Asian and White couple, whom Star bumped ahead of me and fixed their iPhone in 20 minutes, offered a free screen protector, but when I asked about the same, I was told it would cost $40, "a good price." Mind you, I paid more than they did for my repair. For the first thirty minutes while I was there, no one touched my device. The couple came and went before my device was even considered. Later, when I went to my car, I noticed that the couple had hit and scratched the bumper of my car w/ their red Miata. These people, so noble that they deserved special preferences, didn't even have the decency to report the accident to me. Most egregious: they refused to let me use the bathroom during my 1.5-hour wait because "people steal, and sometimes they take a long time in the bathroom." Really? I came straight from work in my professor clothes--skirt, top, sweater, dangle earrings (dressed up for a campus event today). The Klansman who communicated w/ me even had the chutzpah to tell me, "You could've gone to get something to eat while you waited," as if there's soooo much to do in the Garment District after *regular business hours*. (Key words: "regular business hours," not 6pm, when Star finally gets the lead out.) I wouldn't refer anyone to this "business" unless he/she were happy to patronize prejudice and reap the benefits of racial privilege. Last night, the term "bare minimum" became redefined for me. I was looking for a shop to repair my broken iPhone 5 screen and came across this place. Prices seemed competitive and the location didn't seem too far from my home. Decided to go in and have this repair service done to my phone. Upon entering the shop, my first observations were that there was an urgent absence of cleanliness in the shop. There was a blank white sheet taped to the glass door with the name of his business written in Sharpie. Floors were dirty, display cases were unorganized, and his desk was a mess! I'm not saying this place had to be spotless - it is a repair shop after all. But take a little pride in your craft and tidy up a little for the sake of your customers. Ok, next category: Customer service. The gentleman who helped me informed me that my phone would be available to pick up in 45 minutes. Took a little over an hour to receive my phone. 15 minutes isn't a big deal. What I was more dissatisfied with was customer engagement. Throughout the whole time, I was just sitting on a couch doing absolutely nothing. I tried to engage in conversation he wasn't going for it. If you're going to make no effort to engage with customers, buy a coffee table and magazines at least. I thought it was just me but after reading reviews a little more in depth for this business I can also confirm the smell of marijuana. It's poorly covered up with Frebreeze and other candles / air fresheners. Ok, ok. I've been a bit of a critic. Time to give credit where credit is due. I walked in with a broken iPhone 5, and I walked out with a fully functioning iPhone 5. I was offered arguably the best rate in the immediate area where competitors were charging up to 30-40 dollars more. The gentleman even threw in a complementary screen protector, which was a nice gesture. I took my daughter's ipad mini with broken screen on Monday. I was told it would take 2 hours to get the screen replaced. After five days, of calling them my daughter's ipad is still not fixed. Extremely poor service. Not a single phone call was returned. Every time, I called I was told it would be done that day. Lies after lies. Daniel, the manager, never returned my phone calls. Caesar from the downtown location told me that my ipad was taken to a different location, without my approval and I should go there to pick it up because they are too busy to get it fixed after a week of getting the run around. I was told he would come to me to fix my phone after finishing his last repair, which was suppose to be an hour. 3 hours later after ignoring my messaging. He finally says he's coming. Two more hours later. Makes excuse after excuse. Quote:"Hey bro, I'm so sorry. I started to drive to you. Had to grab a bite to eat. Friend JayR kept holding me." The guy was texting me after 1am. This guy treated me like he was a weed dealer or something. Horrible! The next day I got it repaired with no hassle and on the spot on 8th and Flower. To make things crazier...
