The karma tax of owning an iPhone is that once every life cycle, you will crack your screen. Though the new iPhones apparently lock you out if you don't get all repairs done at an Apple store, for now I still have an XR, so bootleg shop it is. I had a crack in the corner of my screen that was making my keyboard go haywire, so I decided to bring it in here. The basis of all these shops is simple. They have to a) fix your phone correctly and in a timely manner, b) quote you an honest, reasonable price, and c) not make you feel sketchy about the whole experience. That's it. I don't need some freshly painted waiting room or conversation, just nail those three and we're good. Luckily, this place does indeed nail all three, and is the best overall experience I've had at a phone repair shop. I went over this afternoon, the owner was there. In 90 seconds I had agreed to the very reasonable quoted price of $100 and was told to come back in 45 minutes. Came in here to fix my girlfriend's iPhone 6s screen after ordering a Groupon. The service was fast and I thought everything was great, until 4 days later, the screen pops out and shatters in her pocket. She calls them up, they say they'll take a look at it. I figured, "hey, the guy told me it had a 30 day warranty, so she should be ok." WRONG. Dude checks out the phone and says that "had the screen not broken, he would've fixed it for free." After she explained to him, that had he fixed it properly and not popped out on it's own, it wouldn't have shattered. Apparently that wasn't enough, and wanted $35 to replace it. So... You have shady workmanship, you don't stick to your warranty, and you still want me to pay you another $35 so you can have a re-do? No, thanks. I think we'll pass. **Update** No, like I explained in my original review, it broke AFTER it popped out. Lots of people carry their phones in their back pocket and they never break. And lots of people's screens break without them popping out. Which is what happened in our case. Had the workmanship been better, neither would've happened. I understand that there is a cost to the screens you replace, but if your faulty work just causes them to break again, you're not only setting our phones up for failure, but you're creating more work for yourself, thus more revenue. read more

I need a large screen phone for Lyft. Mine froze; at the Metro PCS corporate store on La Brea I asked 'em to open it up and do a hard reboot by removed by the battery. Not in your life! They refused and tried to sell me a more expensive model with a smaller screen. So for the second time I brought the phone to Jin. He was able to determine the battery was dead and installed a new one for a fraction of the cost of a smaller replacement from MPCS. Amazing! I shattered my screen while crossing Sunset to go to class and EZ Wireless was not only open late, but also didn't charge me an arm and a leg on other additional repairs. I also had some frame damage to my phone so that took a bit longer but when the owner was done, he tested multiple functions - swiping, sound, screen touch, moving apps around - before determining it was good to go. I dropped off my iPhone for him to repair because for weeks it would not power on (i was very close to giving up on it!) and like the Pro that he is Jin fixed it without a problem! I'd like to mention that I took my iPhone to another place (uBreakiFix in Koreatown) before taking it to Jin and I spent close to $200 with them, they replaced the battery 3 times, and wasted 3 weeks of my time simply taking the phone back to them time after time because they could NOT figure out the issue. In the end, UBreakiFix simply gave up and told me to take it to Apple (after taking my money and my time!). Great customer service. I got a groupon to have my iphone 7 screen fixed. I knew it wouldn't be as good as the original screen but I thought it'd be close at least. After switching 3 different ones I finally was able to get my screen replaced with decent screen color and no crazy sensitivity issue like the previous two I got. However, about 1-2 months of my replacement, my screen starting to twitch. The top screen would show at the bottom of the screen while it twitches. I went back to have it fixed and was told that the inside of the screen was damaged either because of pressure, or because I dropped my phone. I did drop my phone once or twice after getting the screen fixed, but I have a very thick phone cover and the screen didn't crack or anything. It's unfortunate, but I ended up having to pay more than if I were to take it back to Apple in the first place :( Totally defeated the purpose of having it fix elsewhere. Also, when I was at the shop, they told me groupon didn't charge service fee or something so I had to pay extra for that. It's been a while so I don't remember how much, but I wasn't happy about that either. read more

I was having an issue with the ear speaker on my iPhone being really soft volume. I took it to a another phone repair place first and they tried replacing a part but were unable to get it to work. After that, I messaged a few places on Yelp and Jim gave me the lowest quote. When I got there he got right to work and was able to quickly diagnose and fix the problem, which turned out to be too much grease in the speaker grill. He also said the previous technician had forgotten to put back the screws as well as a protective covering plate inside, so he installed some spare ones he had for no additional charge. You can see him work behind the counter and he seemed confident and capable with what he was doing. He got it done relatively quickly and on budget with his estimate. I've broken my phone A LOT , sadly , but of all places (including Apple) this has by far far been the best experience. Jin is amazing! Apple refused to touch my phone after making me wait for 4 hrs, because they found "water". Later I found out when Jin opened it it wasn't water. The price was very fairy, & he uses quality parts. Not only did he fix my 6s that I had almost given up on, he also cleaned my speakers, & is replacing the camera lens that I shattered. Five stars for being knowledgeable, and for having great products and services. The facility itself is clean and new, and the hours of operation are great since I end work at 6pm. Parking is available on either Western Ave., or on Oakwood Ave (or wherever you can find it). I stopped by twice and had no problems finding parking, even with heavy traffic. I needed 3 things: 1. Fix a water-damaged Samsung Galaxy S4 2. Find out why the battery on my iPhone 6 would no longer charge, and 3. Replace a broken iPhone 6 screen. 1. My mom dropped her Samsung Galaxy S4 in water, dried it overnight in a bucket of rice, and then tried to charge it and turn it on. Unfortunately, the act of turning it on made the phone fuse out and damaged the LCD chip. I didn't know it at the time, of course... I thought the phone was completely dead, but Jin saved my mom's phone. He took it apart, diagnosed the problem, and replaced the screen which is working perfectly now. All contacts and photos were still intact as well. Thank goodness! 2. My iPhone 6 would not charge! I inserted a little fan I got as a souvenir into the charging port. The next day, I noticed that the battery draining rather quickly. Then, within 2 hours or so, the battery completely died. I tried charging it, but it wouldn't charge. The battery sign came on with a little red bar, but it wouldn't turn on for hours. None of my chargers worked, not even the original iPhone charger, except one Belkin charger. It took a whole day to charge and the phone got really hot. I took it to the Genius Bar and all they did was run an app to test the hardware and showed me my usage. The app indicated that my battery was still in good condition, but it continued to drain quickly and overheat when I charged it. That's all they do for you, or you can shell out $100 for a new battery, which might not even fix the problem. So I took it to EZ Wireless Repair and Jin kept it overnight to test the battery. He replaced the battery, charged it, drained it, and charged it again and found that the battery was not the issue, but that a chip was damaged and the power was being sent to the wrong places, causing it to overheat. That's the gist of it. I could replace the part, but my plan was to get the new iPhone and give this phone to my mom (since her Samsung is old now), so I needed a phone that would last me another 2 years. Instead of fixing my iPhone 6 (which is now 2 years old), I decided to buy a used iPhone 6s Plus, so I could use it for a few months and give it to my mom. Jin helped me find a good used iPhone in a day, and that's what I'm using now. 3. I think the iPhone 6 breaks too easily. I broke mine twice already. My partner also needed a new screen, so Jin hooked it up and the phone looks brand new. Pictures attached. read more

I brought my phone in to have the screen replaced, but after picking it up the phone no longer worked the way it did before dropping it off. My power management was messed up and I cannot charge the phone properly. When I brought it back to tell the owner of the store that the phone wasn't working the way it did before he serviced it, he told me I needed a new power management chip. It is way too coincidental that all of a sudden (within minutes of picking up the phone from him) that I started having this problem. I think he's fishing for more business and swapping out other parts of the phone during the repair.
