It's almost impossible to just walk in at this salon. They are so busy and only have 2 people working, usually. I got my nails done and the polish didn't go all the way back to my cuticle, meaning I'll have to go back even sooner to get them re-done. I've never had issues with the dip polish chipping but four of my nails chipped and it took 3 days for them to get me in to fix them. Very disappointed. read more

I came here with my mom and sister for a pre-Christmas mani/pedi. I didn't think of it at the time but the person doing my manicure used the grinder to "get rid of the cuticle" on my nail. I just took my nail polish off and noticed some pretty nasty divots on my nail! A grinder should NOT be used on a natural nail! It is going to take months for those to go away and my nail is going to be super weak when it gets to the divots get to the end. Towards the end of our time In the nail salon more people came in and I felt like everything from that point on was rushed because they saw dollar signs coming in the door! Also, never got an arm massage which I think is pretty standard for a manicure. I will never be going back! If I could give 0 star I would! read more

I went in for shellac and asked for my nails to be cut down. She cut them down to the quick (see picture). As a result, my nails burned and stung for the rest of manicure, which is a stretch calling it that... a quick soak, quick cuticle trim and a quick massage. read more

I went and had dip on Sunday and Monday the top coat was peeling off. No vitamin clear dip was applied and instead of dipping each nail one dip at a time she dipped them 3 times at once. I believe she used the shellac top coat because she had my put my nails in the light a few times. I was very disappointed and instead of going back to have them fixed I chose not to because I'm sure it would have been done the same way. I would not text this salon. read more

If I could I would give this place 0 stars! I just had thee worst experience that I've ever had at any nail salon in my life! This was my second time going to Star Nails and on both occasions the service there was poor at best. After my first experience there I swore I wouldn't return but unfortunately I broke a nail and because I have gel polish and wanted my nails to match I was forced to go back. My shape of choice is pointed, before going to Star Nails I was under the impression that that shape was pretty common. Well not at Star Nails, on my first visit I went in for a fill and after being as descriptive as I could complete with pictures and some of my own filing the tech finally got the shape right. When I went in today to get my broken nail repaired first I was treated like I wasn't allowed to touch the gel polish and asked to find a regular polish that looked like the gel I wanted. Thankfully I had some idea on the name of the gel polish that was used so after a bunch of unnecessary confusion I found the color I was looking for. Secondly I was asked to sit down at a station where the tech was literally picking her feet right before I sat down. The tech removed the remaining polish and the rest of my broken nail and replaced it with a new nail but didn't shape my nail to match the others it was more of a half rounded half pointed shape. She started to polish my nail and I pointed out the difference in shape. Her response was "well next time you don't come back here we don't do that." I literally took the file and filed my nail myself to the correct shape!! I informed the tech that I would be posting about my experience and that I would be reporting them to the bbb. Another patron looked at my nails and said "her nails really are a common shape." Thank you! I would NEVER advise ANYONE to used Star Nails for any service! I don't commonly post reviews or comments but after the way I was treated on two occasions I just couldn't be silent. read more

after waiting patiently for an hour, telling them I need my nails off and a manicure, they seat me and said "why didn't you remind us". they grinded my fake nails off, burning my real nails but I let them continue. After I told the manager lady my nails weren't all the way off, and she said "what u want me cut all the way to your cuticles". the manager lady was incredibly rude and said go pay. other workers were extremely nice, but the big lady was the rudest I've ever experienced. I'll never be back. Bad job and bad service. Hope yours is better. read more

I wish I could give this 0 stars, they messed up my nails (length shape color etc.) and they also cut me, and when I told them I wasn't happy with what they did and asked for either a refund or if they could fix it They said " if we refund you we mine as well just cut them off" so they proceeded to take my nails and cut them. they didn't even file them down, and we're extremely rude. i was in the area on vacation and Linda did an amazing job on my gel nails. It lasted me three weeks. The shop was nice and clean and relaxing. They even have an adorable kids chair. Will definitely come back when i am in town again! read more

The services provided here are mediocre at best. The owner, Linda is hostile and rude. My nails are just over a week old and I've just gone in to Star Nails for the second time in 9 days. Three days after my nails were done by Tommy (I'm sure he's not licensed, his work is shotty) I went back because they were not good. She charged me $20! I paid the $20 and told her that because of poor service and her not standing behind their work, I would never be back. She then offered me a $20 gift certificate. So I just paid $20, and you're giving me a $20 gift certificate towards more garbage nails? I declined. She did give me my $20 back. 6 days later I had 2 nails break. I'm not ready for a fill for another week or so, and I wanted my polish to match, so unfortunately I had to come back, unless I wanted to spend another $45 on nails that are barely a week old. (I've been getting my nails done religiously for 10 years - my fills last between 2 and 3 weeks) As soon as I walked in she said "you said you never come back here!" In front of a salon full of customers. How unprofessional and rude. I told her about my broken nails and she told me to sit and wait 30 mins. Almost an hour later, after taking several customers before me, who arrived after me, my nails were finally fixed. Then she advised me that it would be $6. Obviously business isn't so great if $6 is that important to you. Here you go psycho lady. Enjoy. She berated me from the second I arrived until the second I left. Hopefully the Michigan LRA office will come and shut them down for unlicensed technicians. Go there at your own risk. read more

I was looking for a new nail salon and happened to drive by Star Nails. I decided to give them a shot and I was extremely happy. Linda did my nails and she took time and care with them. Instead of using her nails to wipe off any polish that may have gotten on my skin, she goes around each nail with a brush and remover, detailing them so nicely. I have been to many nail salons in Muskegon and have never had anyone do this, and she did it after each coat, whether or not there was polish there. I commented to her that most nail techs just take their finger nail and swipe any excess off (often times smearing it even further, and it's kind of gross, if you ask me), and she told me that she wanted it to look professional and that it's the only professional way to do it. I was impressed! I have been holding out on going because I'm leaving on vacation, but I'm at the three week mark on heading in to get a fill (I do acrylic over my natural nail) and they are perfect! No chipping or cracking. I recommended Linda to my friend and she went in and was equally impressed. I will continue to go back! read more
