I just got my nails done and i asked for them to be the shape almond, but they are oval and they are not even and are different ovals each finger. I also got cut a lot...it hurt. Also there is glue on my skin. And when i got home my mother said they looked horrible. Last thing a pedicure is $25 and an acrylic set is $28, my total came to $59. read more

It was good and clean. I did like it I've just been spoiled with spas. They do a hot towel wrap with the pedicures and have massaging chairs which are so relaxing. Did not remove any dry soon from my feet which was disappointing. The manicurist did not even attempt to talk or answer as you talked, but the owner was over her shoulder the whole time which I belive made her nervous. read more

DON'T EVER GO TO STAR NAILS in Pembroke!!! I got a REALLY bad toe infection from this place. They obviously DO NOT properly sanitize their equipment. I had to go to the emergency room on my vacation to have my toe cut open because it was so infected. Every time I called to speak with the manager they said call back tomorrow, or come in on the weekend he'll be here. I continued to call back and drive all the way back down there of course to have no manager there and the women working there refused to help me or give me the managers phone number. I was so upset the last time I went here I had to leave.The most painful manicure I have ever had, I was almost in tears. The worst place for a manicure! The woman I had cut my cuticles so poorly that a week later I have peeling swollen and red around my nails. She also cut the corners of each finger right at the top of my nails?! I have never had this done and my finger tips appear to be a few layers of skin from bloody!!! Friendly, clean, and always busy. I see Kelly usually for a pedicure and gel manicure. She is the sweetest. Feels very "mom and Pop" here. After moving back from NYC I always had my neighborhood "nail place" the girls knew my name and I knew theirs. I just recently moved to Boston, but when I am home visiting my family on weekends I am sure to come in here. Definitely a friendly place that does a great job. My gels last over two weeks before peeling off, which is awesome. read more

Star Nails has recently moved a few spaces down so the place is a bit cleaner and updated which is good. However, I did have a very rough acrylic application once. It felt like the technician took a belt sander to my fingers. After that experience I have only been back if I can't get in to my usual salon. It's ok, I will never get acrylics again but I wish they would spend more time and use hot stones with pedicure services. It's not my first choice but it is convenient. read more

I went for shellac. How they get the old shellac off is they use the abrasive emery board to scrape down to your nail bed...Youch! That kills and I'm sure it damaged my nail beds. 2nd, you would not believe how uneven the nail tips are, looks like someone who can't see did them. 3rd; pedicure, polish all over the cuticle and one of my toes is throbbing and getting swollen as the day wears on.I'm hoping just a ding and not an infection. A friend who went to the stars in kingston said they use the same technique with the abrasive emery board on her nails. I've had some bad mani/pedis but this is the worst. read more

Came in for a pedicure and was taken back by the lack of enthusiasm and effort from the unfriendly nail tech. She didn't say two words to me the entire time, yes I know theirs a language barrier but still make an effort to be somewhat pleasant. She cared more about what was going on on the tv behind her than on what she was doing, or should be doing. The massage if you could even call it that was horrible!!!! There was several seconds she paused to look at the tv??? Really??? The whole thing start to finish took a little over 20 minutes! I was rushed and thrown into a drying chair as quickly as possible. Terrible!! Unfortunately, my husband purchased a gift certificate for me to go here. He wasn't sure where I usually go for my pedicures. It was a complete disaster. They are your usual run of the mill, pack 'em in nail salon. They tell you it will be 15 minutes but you end up waiting 30. I actually go to Nails and Spa in Braintree. I drive thirty minutes away because it's worth it. Jen is the owner and she's amazing. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Worst nail salon ever! I went for a full and to have 2 nails put back on they came out horrible! The woman who did my nails 1st off screwed my shape up I asked her to make them pointier and she looked at me like she didn't know what that was! So she tried to shape them not with a nail filer but with the nail buffer (the power drill looking thing) she constantly burnt the edges of my nails she never compared my nails to make sure they were the same shape and size when I went and watched my hands one nail was almost 1/2" longer the all the other ones' I said that nail was to long and she said I had a feeling something was wrong! At this point I see my nails are a mess I was so annoyed I wanted to just walk out! So she painted my nails (just slapped it in as fast as she could) the very next day (today) my nails are Brown!! Mind you I picked a light teal color so the discoloration show up so much! Never ever would I go there again nor would I allow anyone I know go there please do your self a favor and avoid the place! read more

Where to start?! I never usully go to Star Nails but Sunday night my friend and I desided we deserved a much needed pedi and opted for Star Nails (only nail place open on Sundays till 6) First off..the place is so dirty!! The tub of water I put my feet in had dirty particles floating in the water! The women that work in there are SO rude! I give them credit for trying to speak english..BUT we weren't born yesterday..we know you are talking about us in your own language! The woman I had butchard my toes and made so many cuts. ( I was actually in pain!!) As soon as I was done and brought over to the dryer, the woman left for 2 mins and came back and said to me " You pay me now"-- keep in mind.. she didn't ask me, she demanded. OK..? RUDE! Of course she didn't say thank you and stormed off. As I was getting ready to leave I smudged my big toe nail..When I told her I smudged it.. SHE WAS PISSED...she removed only the part that I smudged and painted over it..leaving it bumpy and looking like a 4 year old did it. I will never return to Star Nails in Pembroke and will advise everyone I know to not give them their business.ALSO my friend got her nails done and asked for a cheetah pattern design..lets just say it looked like the chettah took a dumb on her nail instead of its beautiful spots. I have been here a few times for waxing. I usually just get my eyebrows done. Today I went in, didn't have to wait, and got straight to it. Which is what I love about the place. As the lady was doing my eyebrows she got wax in my hair. Granted she did try to get it out with a TON of baby oil to make up for it. So I didn't get upset I just let it slide. At the end of the process usually they show you your face in the mirror and you are on your way. Well today she didn't show me the mirror. I didn't think anything of it at the time so I paid and left. I get home and of course look in the mirror. Ohh and then I realized why she didn't have me look at one. They are completely uneven, there is hairs all over the place that she missed and didn't tweeze.. then the best part.. she took off a chunk near the start of my right brow. So my left eyebrow starts a little past my tear duct while my other one is of course after my tear duct. Oh wait unless you count the 4/5 hairs that are left.. then I guess you could call it even. read more

I had my first pedicure at Star Nails last week with an older Asian woman with glasses (she did not tell me her name.) It was awful! This is the first pedicure I ever had where I was not relaxing, enjoying it -instead I was tense, sitting forward, saying "ow!" , "be careful", and pulling away. She dug hard at my toenail cuticles and used her instruments to pick and cut and was so aggressive, it was painful! Then I developed a red, swollen, angry-looking infection next to my big toe, like an ingrown toenail, but I had no problems before I got there! I also had 3 or 4 little toes that were a little red and sore and one actually had a scab where she cut me! I've had to soak my toe in hot salt water all week and hope I don't need antibiotics! I showed it to her the next day and she wanted to have me soak it right there, but I'm not letting her touch me again! She also talked to a relative or friend the whole time on her cell phone with an ear piece while she was doing my nails instead of paying attention to me. She tried to get me to let her wax my eyebrows and asked 3 times, even when I said no! My sisters also got mani-pedi's and did not have a bad experience, so I have to think it was this one person. In every other pedicure I ever had, I found it relaxing and enjoyable, and did not feel I had to sit forward, watching and making sure she didn't hurt me! She was much too aggressive and harsh, and I just hope her instruments were sterilized after each person! read more
