You know what I hate talking about other peoples work. I've been to This place once before and I had a good experience. I came today and it wasn't too busy so I didn't have to wait long. I will say that the front staff are always so welcoming and sweet. My issue started AFTER sitting down. I was getting my hands done and a pedicure. I will say the lady who did my toes was super sweet and nice. She did a good job too but the only thing was i wish she went a little more on cleaning under the nails. But overall she was great. Now let's talk about the young woman who did my hands. From the beginning she just looked upset or bored. Some can even say she looked like she didn't want to be there at all. I know her name but I'm not going to blast her because she could be a good nail tech and was having a bad day. Or she could still be a new etc. overall I'm not going to call her out. Anyways, I told her I wanted French tips and wanted the shape squared/oval. She said she could do that. That was the only time she spoke to me. Honestly that doesn't bother me. Because sometimes you don't want to have small talk. Anywho, she finished the shape and I didn't like it. I told Her but she didn't fix it. And I was "trusting the process". Then she started painting the French tips and she asked if I liked it. I said no that's not the way I liked them which I then showed her again. She then got an attitude about it. She "fixed it" but it still wasn't the way I liked. The French tips went across with little to no curve and if you look at the nails it looks a little wonky. Then when she went to cure the nail polish she started getting mad at the AGAIN because my thumb "wasn't cured". Note I was getting both hands and feet down and she had her lamp on my lap and was angled all weird. Well she's like "you need to make sure to put your fingers right ". I'm like You're the one who positioned my hands. Whatever. Overall once she was done she didn't speak to me. Didn't ask if I liked it and walked away. Didn't say goodbye. Then when I was trying to pay for the service, she sat down behind me while I paid and watched me. So I just didn't feel like arguing with her so I paid. Let unhappy and I'll just find a way to fix them at home because they're not what I wanted. The other staff looked friendly though. The place looked clean and welcoming. But in still indecisive if I'll come back. For the price I paid I felt it was so much for no good results. read more

Don't use the lady named Ivy. She is very unprofessional and argumentative. Her customer service was horrible. She was very rough and asked if she was the only one that I have experienced that with. I said yes. Overall, it's a great place. I've been going for a while. I usually book appointments but saw my nails needed some help and walked in today. I have little ones and needed some mommy time. She said she doesn't use the white powder for dip nails. I asked why and she said that's her way. I politely asked her if she could use it as I have always had the white powder on my nails before the application. (Every nail tech uses the white powder) She refused very abruptly and told me that's how she does it. She was very rude. She asked if I normally come in and I said I do but today was just a one off and she said maybe you need to schedule your person next time. I said I most definitely will. You shouldn't have to tolerate disrespect if you don't book someone. I asked the front desk receptionist what do you call the white powder that's placed on the nails before the dip color. The nail tech, Ivy, said out loud in front of the receptionist, She won't know she is not a nail tech. I love the owners and I have been to several nail salons in the area and this place is by far the best! You get in and get out! I have recommended several people and they all love it there. They do not go to her though. They were busy and I extended grace but the disrespect from the tech was a no. I will keep going. I am very loyal to Star nails. NEVER have KEN do your nails here. He was upset seemed frustrated and as if I was troubling him to do my nails. He was yawning a lot and kept going to the back of the salon and coming back. I asked for a blue and showed a picture he told me all he had was the booklet that was in front of me. So I picked pink. He painted and cured ONE nail at a time. Then he proceeded to shave off the color and then add more color resulting in 5 layers of the color alone it was extremely thick and bumpy. I told the lady at the front about my experience and she just kept apologizing and was very sweet. I then talked to another lady and she had me sit down to re do them I began to tell her everything and she kept defending him saying it was just the color not him. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon with a friend and we both waited at least 30 minutes before we began even though we made an appointment prior. However, they were really busy. I was offered a drink and showed them a reference picture. The lady who helped me was really kind and explained that they didn't have the holographic foil I wanted but were able to show me alternative foils and did a great job shaping my nails. I chose a color I thought was most similar to the reference picture, but my nail tech brought more colors and sampled them on extra extensions for me to see and she was able to pick a better color for me. They have a 10% student discount and I ended up paying $45 for dip with nail extensions, 2 nails with a foil design, and almond shaped. If you are not in a rush, I'd highly recommend coming here. read more

I went 3 days ago for a manicure with dip powder and I got a guy, I didn't say anything but I would have prefer getting one of the girls, I wasn't gonna come back here but I was hoping i would have a better experience this time, both nails on my thumbs have already chipped from the corner, not worth $60! It's only been 3 days and I got them done for my birthday and they already chipped and I didn't even notice until this morning. I had a dip manicure and polish pedicure here and it was the best experience I've had at a nail salon. They had me to a seat as soon as I came in, the manager greeted me while I was having my mani/pedi done, and let me know that I can come back for free if anything happens to my nails to have it fixed. I have very thin cuticles and usually walk away with at least a couple nicksthey were very gentle and I am still impressed that I didn't have even one small cut when I left. The woman who actually did my pedicure didn't speak at all, went and grabbed two crusty towels that had already been used and you could tell by how wrinkled up they were as if they had been soiled before. The towels weren't fully on the foot rest and I've watched other workers place their shoes on the foot rest so sanitation wise they'd get 0 stars. This was the 2nd time I have been to this nail salon and neither of my experiences were anything to brag about. Today I came to get a pedicure and I paid for a 10 minute massage and all the lady did was basically rub in my lotion. No massaging was done. I also politely asked the lady to clean underneath my toe nails and she did not do this even after me asking her multiple times. So I asked for the tool to do it myself. I'm not sure if there was a communication barrier or not but it was annoying to have to do this myself. I've never been to a nail salon where they don't automatically do that for you. Also if you look at the photo, there were bubbles in my polish. It was also not cleaned up very well around my cuticles. She also cut my toenails very weird. As she was about to do the final buff, i asked why do they looked curved? She didnt make any sense to explain why they looked that way. I told her I'm sorry but that doesn't look right. It is really nice and clean inside. Everyone was very friendly. Jolie did my nails and she was adorable. They play 80's music in the background and she smiled and hummed along the whole time. I asked for ombré nails, it was clear that she hasn't ever done them before, but she said she could do something "like" them. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to this sort of thing and wasn't expecting an exactly what was in the picture. I am even pretty cool letting people play around and put their own creative twist on things like this. She sort of splattered (hats the best word I can think of) the pink powder on top of white sns base coat. I actually like the way it turned out. Kinda funky and cute and perfect for what will probably be one of my last summer nail sets before fall comes. However, if you're looking for something super specific and creative, I would warn that you probably won't get it here. I really enjoyed my experience and especially working with Jolie who really worked to get my nails "just right". They have so, so many gels, polishes and powders to choose from; definitely one of the largest selections I've ever seen! My mom has been coming here for acrylics with Jolie for a long time and is always happy. They honor their appointments, which always makes for happy customers! Walk ins are also welcome and they seem to get to you pretty quickly. read more

Horrible. Nails broke in 3 days. The whole experience was lacking to say the least. On Sunday i went in for a Mani/pedi. The wait was ridiculous. We sat for an hour, and they didn't even know we wanted pedis too.. (which you announce to the whole store, when you enter and they ask you what you want) we could have been sitting and waiting in the chairs, soaking at the very least. I got a basic pedi, which also kinda sucked. She didn't get all the dead skin off, scratched me multiple times while filing my heels. For the mani, ugh. I'm one of the ones who doesn't speak up when it comes to something being wrong, like I should. First off, they took almost an hour to put on tips and powered dip. I asked and PAID $5 for more Almond shape, I got oval shaped.. I'm sure she miss understood me when I said to make sure the tips weren't too pointy, as I have kids. The power dip was lopsided and there are a few areas missing the power. Now, fast forward three days, two nails have broken, and the third is about too I called after the first, once the second happened, while bucking my seat belt to go in, I asked for a refund. They refused. I didn't have time to have them soak them off and redo them, nor do I want them too. These nails are horrible. I love this place! My husband and myself have gone in here several times and they have always been super nice and they take their time and give you a great experience. (Yes my husband likes to get pedis as well because his work boots do a number on his feet.) This last time we went in it was close to 5:15 and they close at 6, and even though they closed they still took their time to give us great pedicures, which means we didn't get out of there until close to 6:45 and they still didn't rush us out.
