I requested a pedicure and a manicure. I didn't get a chance to get a manicure. Because I was so upset how the husband did my nails, missing paint. . Not shape right. Nail polish on the sides of my toes. Halfway painted them. The first time I went they did a 4 star on my toes. Since I wasn't spending the high price money that they wanted me to. Because I didn't have it. I didn't tip either. The wife/sister was talking to me any kind of way in front of customers. Very unprofessional and rude. There rating is 3.2 or 3.5. That tells it all. If I can give them 0 stars I would. Find a better professional nail shop who specializes in nails and not how much money you spend. read more

I purchased the super deluxe pedicure($45) and was happy with the massage, paraffin, soaking, and massage chairs. However, the no chip nail polish seemed to be put on carelessly and ended up chipping off within 5 days. That was super disappointing given the price. I made an appt and got right in, which I think is important here because some people walked in and waited a while. Overall I wouldn't go here again because the whole point of a pedicure is to have your toenails looking nice, which didn't last long at all. read more

This place was great; brought my 4 year old daughter in there to get a princess pedicure ($18) while I got a shellac mani ($25) and basic spa pedi ($25). Coming from Chicago where there are tons of competition and deals for nails; these prices were kinda pricey but comparable to other places in Valparaiso. The princess pedi was great; my daughter felt so special and like a "princess". They have 2 cute purple massage chairs just like the grown ups do where they can soak their feet. The staff do everything in the princess pedi that they do for an adult even a foot and calf massage to your little one! My daughter's first salon pedi experience was a blast. Definitely recommend this spot for nails; lots of color selection and staff are all friendly and speak English. read more

My appointment was at noon and at 12:30 I decided I've had enough and I'm going to leave. There were two other customers waiting as well. Just moved here from Chicago for work, and need to find a new salon. Thought I would check this place out because of the decent reviews. Glad to say this will be my go to spot for nails. Jordan and Lilly the owners are awesome. They engage in conversation with all their customers and ensure that their specific requirements are met. The salon is spacious and well ventilated. They have a vast selection of colors and the wait isn't too bad. They do take walk ins, but it's best to make an appointment. Great service and reasonable prices. read more

I had an awful experience when I went there. The staff were rude. My nails chipped and broke a day after. I called and was told to come back and have them fixed. Was so disappointed in my experience or lack of one. Daughter and I were so excited to spend some quality time together. This was her first trip to the nail salon so she couldn't stop smiling. When we walked in we were greeted with an unexpressed look from one of the 2 workers asking us what we wanted. I explained mani pedi for us both. Lady said as she was walking away from us "well it going to be a while". I asked for a time and she said "a while, you can wait or not". It was as she was annoyed that we even walked in the business. We went in so excited and left feeling looked down upon. I was just more upset for my daughter because she nor nobody deserves to be treated like that. I occasionally get acrylics and my friend and I decided we wanted to get ours done. After having some bad experiences in our home town, we looked around in Valpo. We stumbled upon star nails and decided to give it a try. All of the employees were so sweet and easy to have a conversation with. I got a full set of acrylics with a gel top coat. They made sure the length and shape was exactly what I wanted. After having them on for a couple weeks now, they still look great and are all intact. The only thing is that they did not fill all the way up to my cuticle line, but I'll be sure to ask about it next time. I'm definitely going back soon! read more

I got a pedicure and a gel polish change on my manicure. Pedicure was fine. But she broke my finger nail removing the old gel polish. She glued my nail because what else could you do besides cut it. The dryers kept shutting off and my polish wasn't dry but she said it was fine. Put the topcoat on anyway. Fast forward to the next day, about 26 hours later, and my gel polish is chipped and my nail that was glued is broke. Ugh! My daughter wanted to try this place. Will definitely not go back! My last gel polish never chipped and lasted over 3 weeks, not just a day! read more

Oh my gosh. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. I showed the woman a picture of the nail design I wanted and it turned out totally different. I was sick to my stomach and crying, went home and came back to get them fixed a little late and the woman who did them was SOOOO disrespectful. She told me that I was stupid and must've been blind because my nails clearly looked like the picture and they literally looked absolutely nothing like the picture I had showed her. And my dad told her that she shouldn't be treating customers this way and then she started yelling at him and calling him an idiot. I just got into town for my best friend's wedding. I was unable to get my nails done with the rest of the bridal party earlier in the week so I went in this morning to Star Nails just around the time they opened. Only one other person was in there getting their nails done. I was greeted, picked out nail colors and was seated for my pedicure. After sitting down, a bridal party walked in and I was told to leave and come back later. WORST customer service ever! How can you make certain customers feel less important than other customers? Will never ever come back here and will tell everyone I know in the area to never go here! read more

Inconsiderate of people's time. 2) I came in the next day to have them fix a mistake that THEY made on my nails but they told me that they would charge me the entire price again. I just went for a pedicure appointment I had made for 1:30 pm. This was my first time there so according to my clock I was three minutes late. When I walked in there was only one client in the place which is not a good sign on a Friday afternoon. I said hello to the man doing the pedicure on the only customer and said I had an appointment for a pedicure but was wondering if I could add a basic manicure as well. He yells to someone in the back , since there was no one at the desk. A woman came from the back with a mouthful of food and without greeting me said, "you have an appointment for a mani/pedi?". I said the appointment was for a pedicure but I would like to add a manicure if that is possible. While chewing her food with her mouth open she informs me that I was ten minutes late and that she has another appointment at 2:00 pm. Keep in mind that my appointment was for a deluxe pedicure that costs $45.00. How is a deluxe pedicure supposed to take only half an hour? My basic pedicures have always been an average of 45 minutes. Second clue this was a bad choice. So I asked if they could do it and she said I don't know. So I said that's fine if you don't want my business I can go somewhere else and left. A business that has only one customer on a Friday afternoon in May, has no one to greet customers walking in and speaks to customers while chewing a mouthful of food is not a place I care to do business with. They were unfriendly and unprofessional. I will never go back there and will be sure to share my experience with everyone I know. read more
