I've been eating Turkish food my whole life. The lahmacun at this place is as good as I've had anywhere, including Turkey. My Turkish family tries many of the Turkish restaurants in NJ, Manhattan and Queens. This place is a family favorite. This restaurant specializes in baked foods rather than the typical kebabs and they have perfected their craft. Our favorite thing on the menu is the lahmacun and it is fantastic. The dough is stretched thin and cooked such that it is crispy but still pliable enough to fill and roll up. They have everything down to a science. We were pretty hungry and ordered 3 lamacuns for each person and shared a salad. Lamacun uses minced lamb, which can be hard to get right, but the meat here was fresh and spiced perfectly. After ordering and finishing 12 lamacuns for the table we ordered 8 to-go such that we could freeze them at home and save them for later. They are that good and at 6 dollars each well worth it. The one thing to keep in mind is that all these baked goods are made fresh so keep that in mind if things take a little while to come out. It's well worth the wait! read more

If you want to eat one of the best Turkish pide in New Jersey, go to Star pide. There are many options you can choose from. Pide with Turkish sausage, feta cheese or Mozzarella, or pastrami. I chose the one with sausage and pastrami and mozzarella. The shepherd salad is a must try. The salad is marinated with fresh lemon and extra virgin olive oil. Overall this place has excellent customer service. I also recommend the lamacun (Turkish pizza) to go. You can keep in the freezer and warm it up Days later and it will still be fresh. Easy take out! Called ahead and it was ready when I got there. Metered parking btw. This was my first experience of "Turkish Pizza." My favorite item today was the #12: Butter and two eggs Pide. I also got the #4 Pide (mevsim) and #16 (lahmacun). My drive for take out was 45 minutes so by the time I got home the pides were cold, I tried to microwave them but obviously that is inferior bc they were soggy. Good taste though so I recommend eating there. Indoor dining is now open, and they have outdoor dining too. read more

my $ 52.87 bill become $57.87 after couple hours even tipped them %20 cash. . they wrote the items on a paper oldscool style and gave it to me and i paid by card same amount exatcly what i see on the paper. when i checked my bank, they add $5 on ammount. next day i contacted with them , lady told me ohh you dont know in jersey we add tax. excuse me???!!! nobody told me that if you pay with card , you are gonna charge.anyway even you charge tax its suppoed to be $ 3.7 not $5 . This was our first Turkish Pide experience but it won't be our last! We asked the very sweet waitress what she would recommend and ended up getting Lahmacun and #3 Mixed Pide with chopped meat, pastrami, sausage and vegetable. We LOVED both items and ended up bringing most of the pide home because we were full after the Lahmacun. We were offered a complimentary cup of Turkish tea which was served so nice and hot. It was the perfect end to a delicious meal. I look forward to a return trip and trying more varieties of Pide. read more

While sitting and waiting for our food a homeless man walked in bothering myself and Family for money, he was in there for a good few minutes before trying to get kicked out- where he started cursing out the waitress and so on. The bread is served shaped like a canoe and filled with toppings based on the 13 menu options. There is a mixed pide for meat lovers, one filled with cheese and sunny side egg (similar to the Georgian Khachapuri). For my 2nd visit here, I went with the Ozel Pide (ground beef, garlic, and parsley). Served super hot right out of their oven, the pide was cleverly cut up in 12 sections on the plate. Very crispy and enjoyable. My leftovers tasted just as fresh the next day. Complimentary sides include pickled vegetables and a type of medium spicy red pepper paste that was a perfect spread on the pide. The waitress went out of her way to refill my cup of tea (cay pronounced 'chai') to make it hot even though I only drank half my cup while waiting for the pide to come out. read more

Had the lahmacun and it was very good, up there with some of the best I have had. The place is very clean and the staff very accommodating. My only negative is they only take credit cards for bills above $20, I totally get it giving up a chunk of profits to credit card companies but for me this is a slight negative. read more

This place is probably the best Pide place west of Atlantic Ocean. We got ground beef Pide, etli ekmek and lahmajun. Very very successfull.. We went completely sugar free and low carb a month ago and this meal will cost us 3 days of complete fasting. No regrets!! . Worths every bite. We just can't say enough good things about Star and have been here at least 15 times over the last year or so. Food is always fresh and made to order. No frozen crap here. Dough is rolled out fresh, salad ingredients are chopped before your eyes. Our 3 year old and 6 year old daughters refuse to eat Americanized Italian pizza anymore and ask weekly to go for "Turkish pizza". Make sure to order the Shepard's salad on the side. The cool, crisp chopped cucumbers, tomatoes and lemon dressing is a nice refreshing counterbalance to the pide. Don't worry about any language or cultural barriers here. We don't speak a word of Turkish and stand out like the proverbial sore thumb in the middle eastern neighborhood. Staff is "middle eastern" friendly - not as over the top enthusiastic as when you walk into an American chain restaurant but accommodating enough to make you feel welcome. Mounted flat screen TVs at either end of the restaurant will keep you entertained with soccer or Turkish TV visual. The bathrooms will help keep your undersides especially clean with a nice cold squirt of water from the bidet. Kids always get a chuckle from that! read more

I usually haunt other Salonus in Patterson and this one was just as good. Waitresses are decent, just order and wait. They might mess up your order or have someone take your order if they don't understand you. The wait can be brutal if you are starving since each pide or lamachun is made to order. However, very fresh. I feel that the "toppings" they give you on the lamachun is less than other places. We ordered some dishes to go as well and they gave us too many orders although we did pay for all the food. read more

Star Pide is known their handmade oven brick baked Turkish flatbreads. This place is hands down the best flatbread place in the tri state area. They have all the traditional breads and lahmacun on their menu that gets cooked perfectly crispy and gets brought to the table straight from their oven. The place is small basic mom and pop shop type setting ,nothing too crazy. But their food is outstanding. The service is very attentive and friendly. The prices is are very fair for what they serve, and it doesn't break the bank. There is street parking available out on the main streets and side streets as well. read more

Came in for a quick snack. The restaurant was very clean and staff were pleasant. The pide and lahmajouhn are made fresh and you can watch it being made behind the counter. We ordered the lahmajouhn. Very nice place, a little run down looking. The lamaschun is excellent, and though the minimum is 2 at a time, it's light so you won't be overstuffed. I have heard the pide is expensive, but didn't try. The shepherd's salad is a nice addition. One thing I really enjoyed was watching the turkish soccer on the big screens, having tea and seeing the family-owned atmosphere as the employees are making the bread together in groups. read more
