When I questioned why he's charging $40, he said $17 for the pide, $15 for the burek and $5 for tax and tip. It was just me and my wife, I'm not sure why he would give himself tip like that. Came in on a Saturday at around 1 pm. There's only one guy working there and I assume he's the owner. Seemed like he was really busy with takeout orders. Maybe it's more popular for takeout because nobody was dining there at the time - although I will note that the dining area was very clean, which I appreciate. To start, he brought us a plate of pickled cucumbers/cabbage, and some seasoned thinly-sliced tomatoes. We ordered the Mixed Pide (a thick dough crust stuffed with Turkish pastrami, Turkish sausage, chopped meat, and mozzarella cheese) and a Lahmacun (Turkish style pizza - ground meat blended with peppers, parsley and herbs, on a thin crust dough). It took a while (20-30 minutes) for the food to come out but they are making it fresh back there so if you don't want to wait, I'd recommend calling ahead. Both came out piping hot. I can't decide which I liked better because the pide was loaded with meat and cheese, but the lahmacun was amazing. It was really flavorful, and super thin - I don't even know how they get the crust so thin. I've tried making this at home before and it definitely does not compare. It's really hard to get such a thin crust (although I'm also not a professional). And for just $5? It's a steal! My husband and I finished both but I could probably have eaten another lahmacun easily on my own. Will definitely be back but I'll probably place my order ahead next time. read more

Park Pide (pronounced "Pee-day" if you please) is Lahmacun heaven. Sometimes called Turkish pizza (a poor analogy), it is more like a thin and crispy flour tortilla with a delicate and irresistible lamb topping. The baker has been making these 9 inch pies for 35 years, and you can taste his expertise. He makes hundreds every day, from scratch, rolling the dough and dressing it on a floured work table that sits in front of his conventional pizza oven. I love watching him work. These plate sized babies are a mere $3 bucks a pop, and three of them (with included sliced tomato, parsley, onion and lemon wedges on the side) make a perfect meal, anytime. The traditional lamb/beef and tomato paste topping is perfectly seasoned and perfumes my car for hours after I order take-out (which is mostly what I do here). I always order a sour cherry drink with this meal, which rounds out the flavors. You can get other types of pide too, topped with different kinds of cheese, or meats, including Basturma (Turkish pastrami). I prefer the traditional version, as the others tend to get a bit soggy from the rendered fat in their toppings. Park Pide makes a decent Shepherd's salad too, but it is the pide that shines here. And for heavens sake, these people are not rude. I wish some of the other reviewers would get their head around the fact that a language barrier often masquerades as rudeness. One of the best turkish pide and breakfast that I have in US even in Turkey. You may taste almost the same flavour as in northern part of Turkey, pide experts. Breakfast was incredible. They served a special turkish breakfast meal baked in oven earthenware pot called menemen. Try this! And dont forget to drink delicious turkish tea. My favorite lahmacun in the area! I have tried 2 other places but this is the best in my opinion. The dough is not too thin not too thick and has the perfect amount of meat. We were 4 people dining there and 3 out of 4 agreed that that's the best Lahmacun from what we have tried in New Jersey. Service was nice and polite, i don't eat onions and they didn't have any problem with giving me parsley without onions for my Lahmacun (i have asked at another place and they wouldn't do it for me). Also other places use lettuce mixed with onions and not parsley as it is supposed to be. The place is spatious and clean. read more

For those who've never had lahmacun, it's similar to a small personal sized thin pizza but you won't find your traditional mozzarella cheese and sauce but minced ground beef with onions and spices (and occasionally tomatoes depending on where you go). Park Pide probably serves the best lahmacun in the area. They cost $3 and come with cut onions, tomatoes, parsley and sliced lemons on the side. Just a heads-up, parking can be a pain here. If you can't find a spot in their lot, you might have to park on the street a few stores down. If you park across the street, I hope that you're wearing your running shoes because cars do not slow down on Crooks Ave. Also, it can take up to 20 minutes for 3-4 lahmacun pies so call ahead if you're in a hurry. read more

We had breakfast twice here on our 1 week NJ-NYC trip. We absolutely love the pide (karadeniz yaglisi with cheese) and the menemen. This was my first time trying Turkish pide and lahmacun. I have to say I really liked them. It's like the Turkish version of pizza and stromboli. Comes with sides of sliced tomatoes drizzled in olive oil, salt, and pepper. I highly recommend exploring the Turkish juice/soda drinks if you're adventerous. The peach juice/soda was so refreshing! If I were rating this place on taste alone I might haven given them 5 stars but unfortunately that's not the only thing I look for in a restaurant. I had the pastirmali pide and my mom had the cheese pide. Both were very good. The service was fast but literally not a single smile on anyone's face. It was a little awkward. The place is small but clean. The thing that shocked me was the price! They are ridiculously overpriced. I had to double check to see if it was a mistake. We have been to this place a few times and the quality of the food was always ok & the service included just taking orders and bringing food. No smiles, no follow-up, nothing. I have recently visited this place with my toddlers and since this place only serves pide (turkish lahmacun), we brought soup for our 1 year old. Once my wife started opening the soup, the waitress told us that we can not feed the baby. While we tried to explain that the baby needs to eat, they were not cooperative. The owner said that some people were bringing fast food and they needed to take this decision. Anyways, we cancelled our orders and had to leave. So, if you need to feed a baby, make sure you feed at home before you go to this place. As another reviewer mentioned, if you want to eat pide, Akcafe is much cheaper and they have better food. For you can find that here at Park Pide & Lahmacun right on Crooks ave. First and foremost. Lahmacun and pide places on crooks ave or main st are a dime a dozen. Ak market, Istanbul bazaar, öz pide all around the block are better choices. Second. How can you charge $13 for pide, which is equivalent to about one and a half slices of Thin and I mean real THIN pizza. Or How about $10 dollars for A small Shepard salad and a dust of feta. What nerve! This place gives off the vibe it's for working class people, it's essentially a turkish pizzeria, yet over charges the populous! This is a recessive economy not the Ottoman Empire! Last but not least. The attitude at this place, the aire of turkish snobbery is overwhelming! The food is excellent. It really is. But the price is not. I will always choose to pay for quality over quantity but let's be reasonable. One pide is more expensive then a large pizza pie with three toppings. A family of 4 or 5 that chooses this venue for takeout on a week night will spend over 60$. That is not very reasonable. Totally underrated spot in my opinion. I have eaten lahmacun from many places and no other place even compares to Park Pide's lahmacun. The dough is perfect and has great flavor. The meat mixture on top is a great bonus to the amazing bread it sits upon. Added bonus is the place is very clean.
