We were told that one of the technicians was let go due to many other customers returning to complain about the same issue and that the business no longer does oil changes because of this. The bad I had to deal with a dishonest employee. The name on Smog CHECK INSPECTION REPORT IS VINCENT ALCONES. WHEN HE FIRST WROTE UP THE COSTIT WAS OVER $100. I pointed the web site listed $29.95 for my 2005 SUBARU OUTBACK 2.5L and $8.95 for the certificate and additional $20.00 for a STAR TEST. THE EMPLOYEE TRIED EVERY WHICH WAY TO CHARGE ME MORE. HE CLAIMED MY SUBARU WAS AN SUV! He must have considered me dumb! But he was mistaken he was dealing with a retired teacher of 35 years and a master's degree in Biology and a grievance facilitated for a 2000 teacher district. He was in a no win position and he did not know it until it was too late. He met his match and failed ,something he may have been used too. read more

Used to come here regularly for smog checks. But this past year things seem to have changed, they have lots of ridiculous hidden fees which results in almost triple the cost than what's advertised. Took my car to another smog place and got it for a straight forward honest price. Would not recommend this place anymore. read more

I had a good experience with them 2 years ago so I went there again for a smog check for my suv after they sent me a 10% off coupon. I was not so lucky this time. They upped the listing price 10% then honored the 10% coupon I showed them. They also charged me for a certificate that I didn't ask for. So I ended up paying almost $110 for a smog check. I asked the old gentleman there why it was so expensive now and he said that was the price now. I feel like got ripped off and will not go there again. They have advertising at the DMV office. The service was terrible. The person at the desk was not even trying to be friendly. Make sure you have your EXACT MILEAGE when you walk in. If you have a quote make sure you tell them. I forgot to tell him and was snapped at. He was gonna charge me double what my quote was! he had someone waiting to pay but made him wait while he yelled at me in the waiting room. I'm from out for state and have never done a smog inspection before and asked what I needed to provide, and the receptionist rolled his eyes and barked "paperwork" at me. I asked what documentation he needed and he rudely said there was no reason for me not to know anything. Seems genuinely burdened by talking to a customer and unwilling to provide any basic info. Came to Star for an oil change on my 2017 Challenger and was in and out! Great price too, compared to what the dealership had previously charged me. No mark ups, no hidden fixes, just a good oil change. It's very convenient that they have an online appointment setup and they adhere to that schedule. The young lady at the front desk was pleasant and quick - she told me it would be 40 mins and she was calling at 40mins on the the dot that it was done. I've been bringing all my vehicles here for the last ten years and my experience has always been positive. Booking an appt online is recommended although a little confusing. While they don't guarantee that exact time slot, you will be placed "next in line" in the event there are several cars ahead of you. The people at the front desk are always pleasant and efficient with the paperwork. There's also a small cafe called Bondadoso Coffee and Tea within walking distance If you don't want to wait in the small lobby. But make sure you get your drinks to go because I walked over the other day after dropping off my car and before I could even finish my tea, Star Smog called and said my car was ready. read more

Star Smog provides great service. My Venza needed a smog inspection. It is very rare to find a place where there is an honest and courteous person who can handle multi-tasking.
