Dr Seifi took care of my parents for years and she is so loving and down to earth. Cordai Smith cared extremely well for my dad today. He was so gentle with dad, explained everything before he did it, very thorough in his care, and gave high quality service and care to my dad. He made sure we knew what was going on and asked us if we had any questions. He was so kind and down to earth. I would highly recommend him to anyone who comes to Starbrite. Layla is so sweet and such a sweetheart. She cared for my mom and dad well. Very sweet and beyond caring. Shawn Figueroa was soooo sweet and amazing to my parents. He always made us all laugh. Those looking for a dentist in the Bethesda/Rockville area should look elsewhere. You'll see the average reviews for StarBrite are lower than many surrounding dental offices. The lower ratings are well deserved in my opinion. My experience there was of a money-first, patients-second operation. I share some experiences below. TLDR - They recommended unnecessary and expensive procedures and became quite nasty when I questioned them. During my time using StarBrite, they recommended multiple unnecessary procedures. I went in for a routine cleaning. The dentist told me that I had several cavities that would require multiple fillings. I said I wanted a second opinion from another dentist. They were offended and then pressured me into scheduling an appointment for the fillings and paying for them in advance. I finally came to my senses and went to another dentist for a second opinion anyway. The result: No cavities. No fillings needed. I just needed a better cleaning and a sealant replaced (a much simpler, less invasive, cheaper procedure). My teeth were (and are) fine. Another example. I said that I was thinking about getting my teeth straightened. They said they'd be happy to do that, but I would first need gum grafting surgery to prepare my gums for the orthodontics, which they of course would also be happy to do. Again, I got a second opinion and was told that was not necessary. Then there's the issue of making payments. They demand up-front payment; they don't accept insurance (or didn't when I used to go there). They'll send a bill to your insurance company afterward so the insurance will (hopefully) reimburse you, which is nice, I suppose. But they demand the money direct from you. I've never had another dentist do that. read more

Very unprofessional. I had to have a crown. It did not go to my gum. A cavity formed below the crown and the crown popped off! I was told I needed a deep cleaning and 5 fillings redone. I didn't doubt them as it had been so long. I decided to not pursue further care as they do not take insurance. If you are looking for a new dentist, I highly recommend StarBrite. Doctors here are all experienced and caring. I decided to come to this office as they are open on Saturday and taking a new patient. Dr. Seifi did a thorough exam and informed me what I needed and why. Doctors or staff are not pushy, so you can take your time, consider, and make a decision. Eventually, I decided to get all the treatments needed. Dr. Azad removed my two teeth without much pain (also super quick) and even answered my question on the weekend. Sockets healed pretty smoothly without any issues. Dr. Hall did a wonderful job with my crown and cavity treatments. He is also skilled and kind and answers my questions in detail. Sometimes, the office doesn't pick up the phone, so I couldn't make an appointment smoothly but the front staff usually calls me back in a few hours. The only thing I wasn't happy about was a cleaning I got at my first visit. It seemed a hygienist was super rushed, so she splashed a lot of water on my face and pushed some cleaning machines against my face. It was so uncomfortable and painful. However, when I got a cleaning from another hygienist, my experience was pretty great. The price is fair as you get what you pay for. I would say if you get a last minute appointment on Saturday like me, you might have to wait extra. Ample easy parking. read more

I chipped my front tooth on a granola bar 3 days prior to my dental insurance becoming accessible. I went into an instant panic and Google'd "emergency dental near me" which is how I found StarBrite. Had I read the reviews on Yelp I probably would not have come. Lesson learned. I called the office around 10:15 and they said they could see me right away at 11. I was informed upfront my EC rays and visit would be $150. All payment is required upfront which for me seemed unusual but when you're in a panic mindset you just go through the motions. I was seen within minutes of my appointment time. Before being able to fix the chipped tooth I was told I had a lot of other issues that needed to be fixed first. I was confused and emotionally overwhelmed by the $2,500 price tag. Staff were friendly and explained everything and I didn't have a huge choice due to the possibility of damaging the tooth even more. Luckily there was another appointment available later that afternoon to start the treatment. I have to come back a couple more times to finish this and since I had to pay upfront you best believe I'll come back. My next appointment was scheduled for today. Due to the snow storm I figured I would be able to get in earlier than my 3pm appointment. I messaged the dentist online and got it moved up. I informed the dentist that I had teeth removed as a child and that the teeth they were referring too as molars weren't actually molars. I didn't feel like they were listening to me, I was told that wasn't the case- which is weird, why are you arguing with me- do you want to see the molars in the jar? Anyways, I had to get my gums lasered and I would NOT recommend that lol. I did everything I needed to do which was about 6 appointment, mind you I only came in for one thing, which was a cracked tooth. Honestly I feel like they saw how emotional I was and ran with it. I haven't been back since. The dentist had told me I also needed braces or a spacer. I was SO confused because I wanted braces my entire life, not because my teeth were out of line but because I thought they were cool. Every dentist I had seen (in my 30 years of life) told me they were not even remotely needed and I had some of the best placement of teeth they had seen. But now all of a sudden you want to widen my mouth? No. Since leaving this establishment I have found a new dentist and have had no issues. I asked about a spacer, bracers, retainer (everything incase I misunderstood) and they flat-out said they would never recommend it. read more

I would love to give a better review, because my actual dental care was great. I liked Dr. Seifi and Dr. Karimi and Reza. I appreciate that they provided me with X-rays to take to my primary dentist. In addition, most of the time there was no wait to be seen. However, because it was an emergency visit they charged nearly $5,000 for a crown that had fallen out, and it took half a dozen visits to finish the procedure. I appreciate that I didn't have to miss any work. However, Shaun Figueroa repeatedly lied to me. He said that my claims for Delta Dental would be submitted once the work was done. That was last week, and I am still waiting. They also pressure you into signing things and into taking Covid tests. I would only recommend StarBrite Dental if you need to be seen quickly, want to be seen on weekends and in the evening, and want them to charge you up the wazoo. read more

I had an amazing experience at Starbrite. I was having awful dental pain and they were able to get me in right away and find the root of the problem (literally!) and give me a treatment plan right away, that worked with my schedule. All my questions and concerns were answered and addressed. Nate was very detailed with his answers, kind and reassuring. I got lucky! Found them via Google for emergency dental. Appt next day! The staff is professional and kind...THE ENTIRE STAFF is a high performing team! Dr Seifi was amazing! She is indeed an expert. Great treatment plan that was executed immediately! Dr Azad has the magic touch...I'm fearful of needles but he made it effortless and pain free for the entire procedure! Starbrite is now my official dentist! Although out of network, they are transparent with treatment plans, costs and arrangements - no pressure! I was contacted by a law firm representing StarBrite demanding that I remove what they considered a defamatory review or else they will seek legal action. While I believe I posted a genuine review based on my experience, I have removed parts of the review in order to make this review less opinion based. See below for the revised review. I went to see the dentist at StarBrite for a free consolation because I noticed I had a cavity. I spent approximately just under 5 hours at their clinic. The approximate breakdown of the time is shown below. - I waited in the waiting room for approximately 2 hours - I was moved to the x-ray area and waited another approximate 1 hour for the x-ray technician - I had photos taken along with an x-ray/exam/consolation which lasted approximately 0.5 hours - I then was moved to another room and waited another approximately 0.75 hours - I then finally spoke with someone from their team about the total cost and insurance options which lasted approximately 0.5 hours I was told I would need a root canal and was quoted approximately $4,420 for the root canal and cap without insurance. After my visit with StarBrite, I sought a second opinion from the dental clinic named Modern Smiles. I have provided my experience with them below. - I spent less than 1 hour waiting, getting a consultation, cleaning and having the cavity filled at Modern Smiles. - The dentist at Modern Smiles told me it was just a normal cavity and I would not need a root canal. - Modern Smiles quoted me less than $500 for filling the cavity without insurance. - Modern Smiles helped me to get dental insurance and filled my cavity which, with insurance, cost me $0 for the service. The annual insurance premium cost $220. It has been about 5 months since Modern Smiles filled my cavity and the filling is still in tact and I am not experiencing any discomfort. read more

Started off with a positive experience. The staff greeted me and serviced me efficiently. Dr. Seifi took the time to explain her recommendations for my teeth and answered my questions. When it was time to discuss the costs, Shaun explained all of the different options I'd have to pay off the recommended treatments. After I had mentioned to him I'd have to work around my schedule and finances in order to make a final decision, he made the most unnecessary comment: " I don't understand why people won't pay for the things they actually need", then laughed. I felt pressured and insulted like I had to explain to some complete stranger as to why I was not putting any money down today. The audacity for him to make this comment was completely out of bounds and just rude. It's crazy how just one person can easily shift an experience. It's great if you like to wait a really long time. You make an appointment and they say, "we'll fit you in." They aren't fitting you in, they are putting you at the back of a long line. We had an appointment but it took 2 1/2 hours to be seen. For a follow up, minutes be for we arrived, they texted and said don't come just yet...it's extremely unprofessional. Since they couldn't see us at our appointed time, we went for a coffee nearby. Every half hour I would ask if they could see us. That time, there was a 1 1/2 hour delay. Also, if they are going to book so many people at the same time, they should have a far larger waiting area. It's tiny which isn't safe in terms of Covid because you can't help not sitting next to people. We ended up waiting in our car in the parking lot. It's cheaper than most dentists but unfortunately you get what you pay for. read more

Another great experience with Dr Urban and her assistant Mari. I had worn down a couple of fillings due to my tendency to clench/grind my teeth; apparently, I'm doing that during the day as I use a night guard when sleeping. Dr Urban replaced both fillings taking great care to ensure my comfort throughout the procedure and providing extra Novocaine when I had even the slightest sensitivity. Dr Urban inspected my night guard and even took the time to manually remove some of the tartar buildup. She also recommended Retainer Brite cleaning tablets (available on Amazon) to help maintain it. I really appreciate the thoroughness of the care that I receive at Starbrite Dental; it is what keeps me coming back. read more

I had a cleaning here recently and it went well. I like that I can get appointments in the evening and weekends. Everyone had a smile and I was seen quickly. After my cleaning a doctor (I forget her name) also checked in and made sure all was good. She also went over in detail a procedure I am considering. I'll say this: I don't actually have doubts about the quality of Starbrite's work. Their integrity is another matter. If you have gone there, I STRONGLY advise you to get a second opinion before committing to any procedures they suggest. Any other dentist will find fewer things wrong with your teeth. They'll charge you much less for what you DO need. Here is everything I learned the hard way: If you go, don't pay up front. Don't accept their claims that you aren't entitled to a refund if you do and then think better of it. No matter what they get you to sign, they can't legally charge you for work they don't do. Don't buy the "filing insurance claims for you is really *basically* the same as accepting your insurance" schtick. It's not. Know that if you do leave, you're legally entitled to have all of your records (x-rays, notes, etc) sent to a new office within a reasonable amount of time, and they may try to drag their feet for weeks or only partially comply. I wasted a lot of money being an overly trusting idiot. Be extremely cautious with this place. read more

I'm writing as a follow up to my previous review. The 5 stars does not change. If I could give more I would. I previously mentioned it would be more cost effective to have my dental work done in network. Therefore, I got a referral from my primary dentist and had my wisdom teeth extracted at another location. Starbrite was great in emailing me my X-rays I had taken during my visit at no charge. I called in the morning and the nice receptionist emailed them within 5 minutes. I was able to provide these images to the oral surgeons office and all they had to do was print. There weren't any additional fees or need to take additional X-rays. StarBrite is awesome! read more

Taking advantage of elderly women immigrants with abusive service and policies. StarBright made my elderly relative pay in advance for 7 teeth to be removed. Why remove all 7 in one day? They made her wait for over 4 hours after her appointment time. She had personal restroom issues. She could only handle 3 teeth being removed after such a long wait. We asked for a refund for the teeth not touched by StarBright. StarBright will only provide a refund if she signs a full release. StarBright should be responsible for the work they did and were paid for. StarBright should refund money for services they did not provide. StarBright has taken advantage of an elderly, immigrant woman and should be ashamed of themselves. StarBright should have never scheduled 7 tooth extractions for one day for someone frail and over 90 years old. StarBright should not make the elderly wait for over 4 hours past her appointment time to begin working. The StarBright policy to pay upfront could be understood but they should immediately refund money paid for work not performed. StarBright should not intimidate elderly immigrants with totally unreasonable full release forms only to get refunds due to their customers. It is heartbreaking to see my elderly relative treated so poorly. read more

Negatives: Long wait for scheduled appointment. I waited 40 minutes for my cleaning appointment. Odd policy of requiring payment up front, then submitting to insurance for reimbursement. I went here for a consultation about having them take my braces out since I had just moved here. They said they couldn't touch other orthodontists work and they tried to make me go on a treatment plan for a palate expander. They are really pushing this palate expander thing, the promotion for it is on a loop in the waiting room and there's so many people in the waiting room with one in. Dr. Seifi is a pleasure to work with! I couldn't ask for a better dentist. I started going to Starbrite Dental in 2011. I needed an emergency root canal on the weekend and Dr. Seifi's office was one of the few locations equipped to handle this. I stayed a patient since 2011 for many reasons. Before this appointment, I hadn't been to the dentist in 10 years (aka how I ended up needing a root canal in the first place). Growing up, I had a really grumpy dentist growing up who really instilled fear in me. My experience at Starbrite Dental removed all the fears I had about going to the dentist. Dr. Seifi is so kind, gentle, as are the rest of the staff. They have positive reinforcement down to a science! I didn't feel judged for having bad teeth and it really motivated me to improve my oral health. Since I started going here and following her advice, my gums and bleeding have improved dramatically, my tooth-bone density has improved, and I haven't had any cavities. Dr. Seifi is a great dentist. She has a keen eye and has found things on my x-rays that aren't obvious, which is great when it comes to preventing bigger issues. I love that Starbrite dental is open on Saturdays. It has made my life sooooo much easier. I don't have to take off work for my cleanings/dental work which is amazing for us M-F 9-5 people! In general, I am taken on time for my appointments. There have been exceptions here and there but I would say I am taken on time or within 15 minutes for 90% of my appointments. The wait can be a bit longer on the weekends because she does take emergency appointments, but typically the receptionist will call ahead to let me know they are running behind. The drawbacks: Starbrite Dental is not in-network for any insurance, so you will not get as high reimbursement as you would for an in-network dentist. How this impacts you will all depend on your insurance plan. With my plan it wasn't a big difference and I didn't mind paying a little extra for the quality of service and flexible hours. This office has a policy where you pay the entire cost up-front and get reimbursed later by insurance. I understand the reasons for this and while it can be a pain, they are good about submitting the claims to insurance in a timely manner. They also accept all major credit cards which makes it easier, including Amex. Additionally, Starbrite Dental does offer their own packages to make cleanings more affordable. Overall I highly recommend Starbrite Dental- 5 stars! read more

I have been going to Maryam S Seifi for about 4 years . The reason I have been going here for so long is because how professional and warm the staff is . Doctor Seifi staff has given me the best advise for someone with my mouth . Example crowding , underbite , crown , two root canals and teeth in all different places. I recently moved to Ashburn , Va.. And I love this office so much that I drive 45 mins away just to get the quality of care that I get here. I would have to say that the prices are a little high but in the long run they are really worth it . Currently I noticed that they have gone threw a change in the staff and from experience it's hard to find great people to fill the shoes of her last staff. Please don't rule this dentist office out everyone deserves a second chance. If you unhappy with your service talk to doctor Seifi or the head of her staff and I am very sure she will make it right. And for those who are reading this one complaint a year is not bad considering how many patients she sees in a week. I had many bad experiences when I was young at the dentist office and as a result, I would put off handling a problem with my teeth until I absolutely had to. I discovered Dr Seifi and I can't believe how different my experience was. Her solutions to my problems fix the entire issue not just one aspect of it. What I especially appreciate is how she takes the time to educate me on what the issue is so that I have a complete understanding. She is kind, has a gentle touch and takes the time to answer all my questions before any procedure. Bottom line, I feel safe and cared for.
