One of the two closest Starbucks to my home but since I don't drink coffee, I rarely find myself at a Starbucks. But it was so warm the other day, I was out, and really wanted something cool to drink, and Starbucks came through. I ordered their strawberry açaí lemonade refresher and it was as tasty as it usually is. I ordered via app and when I got there it was ready at the drive through. Handy dandy and I do like that this one has a drive through, since that's a rare feature of Starbucks locations in the city. read more

I have lived in Andersonville for almost a year and I have been going to this Starbucks since I moved here and they are so nice!!! They are always asking how my day is and then overtime they learned my name! I love the workers as well because they are always nice to the community! I always see family and dogs in here no matter what and I think they are fans of their jobs! Even when they messed up on one of my orders they were able to fix the problem right away!! This is terrible cafe. I understand they are busy on weekend but still, the service is slow, unfriendly and the manger is awful. I go there every Saturday. Our food came, my daughter ate her pastry and still our drink hadn't arrived. I went up twice to ask about the drink. The second time I spoke with the manager He just smirks at you. No apology for the slow service, no acknowledgement of the situation. Just this stupid smirk on his face. I said 'fu*k it' to myself because clearly he did not give 2 cents about my complaint, but he proceeds to accuse me of cursing him out. Yelled at me, made a big scene and asked me to leave. I still hadn't gotten my drink yet. I told him I wanted a refund or my drink. But he just wanted me to leave. I liked the way HE made a scene and wanted to make me the bad guy. read more

BRING CASH TO TIP . This Starbucks is amazing, delightful and UNION. As a result corporate did not upgrade their POS and cash (I'm pretty sure) is the only way to tip. I've been going here for years. The staff here is amazing. My concern is that whenever I order a dark roast I have to wait for a "pour over". Which no one seems to want to do and the customers that order after me get their drinks way ahead of mine. There needs to be a better system here. I left today after paying for my drink and waited way to long for someone to even start the "pour over " I treat the staff very well and even drop 40.00 in the tip box every four weeks or so. I know, plenty of great coffee shops in the neighborhood. But I really like their blonde roast. I am a simple coffee person, drink it hot no matter the weather, black, no sugar. Hard to mess up my order. I find the staff very friendly and for me, that is super high on the "why I like my coffee shop list". Space is clean, airy and comfy. I went in the morning on a beautiful Saturday morning. Of course the people of Andersonville and myself wanted to enjoy our morning Starbucks. It was pretty busy, but the staff was on it!!!! I work twice a week from home, but find it helpful to get into more of a "work" mode when I'm not at my place. Thus, I spend quite a bit of time at Starbucks. I've tried many around Uptown and Edgewater, and I can't find one that I enjoy working from more than the Andersonville location. The layout of this store is very comfortable, with some small tables, four "comfy chairs," seating around the barista work area and the south windows, and community seating at a large table of eight. I've worked from each of these different areas and found that they all work great and offer few distractions - even as you're around a large group of people. I think this Starbucks has the most inviting, "community" feeling out of all that I've seen in Chicago. I've been in some that are quiet as a cemetery, and others that are just full of "to-go" working types. This one has many people who sit and read newspapers, others who converse with friends or strangers, and others who (like me) work remotely. The partners who work here are very friendly, and they work well together. They are often too busy to engage in conversation, but they have never been rude. Give this place a try - it might become your go-to store like it has mine. read more

Today, I ordered my usual Trenta black iced tea with the mobile app, planning to pick it up in a few minutes. Well, I got busy at work, and couldn't get away. 30 minutes later, Erik, the world's most customer service oriented barista, popped into my store with my tea! Every time I go in and order a beverage, the condiment bar is a mess -- and there's always between 3-5 partners working. I don't think the customer support routine has been eliminated, correct? I'm aware that being on your feet for 4.5-8 hours a day can be tiring and sometimes the pay isn't enough working in the service industry, but please have the partners follow routine. Two trash cans and a recycling bin overflowing is not attractive, nor is sticky sugar and dairy spillage. However, thanks for sweet customer service! I have to agree with the other reviewers as far as the staff being rude. I regularly go to a couple different Starbucks before my shift (I'm a paramedic) that are in Skokie, and they are fantastic. However, yesterday we were getting absolutely slammed with calls and I was exhausted. So, I decided to get some more coffee at this location since we were close by. What a mistake! I ordered my new favorite drink (which I've been getting regularly for over a month now), the iced caramel cloud macchiato (amazing drink!). I always order it with "light ice" without any problems, but this time, the girl taking my order told me that "that drink already comes with light ice". I thought that was odd, since nobody has ever said anything about that, so I just kind of let it go and said "ok". As soon as I got my drink, we got called for another emergency, so I grabbed my coffee and went off to do the call. When I finally got to my coffee, my cup was filled 60% with ice! Wow. Really?? I can't help but think that she purposely did this, judging by her attitude towards me (condescending - even though I had done absolutely nothing to get her angry with me). Seems like she told the barista to put extra ice on purpose. Is this one of those places that has a problem with people in uniforms? Hmmmmm... Anyway, I called the corporate office and explained what had happened and they said they would pass this along to the GM, and they refunded the cost of my drink. Rudeness: I regularly frequent this Starbucks on my way to work every morning and they are great. However, this evening we stopped in for a banana and some water because my daughter was hungry. Then she had to use the bathroom. Someone knocked repeatedly, even though I answered that someone was in there. I heard people joking outside about it. I think they were employees of Starbucks. It was rude. Then, when we came out, about 10-15 minutes later, I saw that there was a cleaning cart near the bar. I then told the person behind the counter what had happened and all he said was, "Okie dokie!". It seemed like it was a big joke to him. Meanwhile, it came off as very rude. Then, to top it off, someone had thrown out our water and banana. I would haves called the manager but who knows, maybe that is who said, "Okie dokie". read more

Starbucks is obviously already a nation wide favorite coffee shop. This location is one that stands out among the rest. The cork board of the map of all the continents is very cool and pretty to look at. My friends and I sat outside on the patio and enjoyed our coffee and breakfast sandwiches on a beautiful day. Chain alert! I hardly put in a review for a chain but occasionally I do for the location itself rather then the company. It's SBUX as you may already know, love and/or hate so I won't add any more than just to review this location. I find the staff to be quite friendly and helpful when it comes to suggestions which is great for someone like me who wants to try different things from time to time. Fellow patrons aren't so bad either albeit a couple of crazy ones but generally the vibe is A OK. So this Starbucks just got a makeover and it does look much nicer and modern. The best part of the new look is that they now have the Clover machine which has made my coffee enjoyment much better and will keep me coming back. Give it a shot if you are ever in a SBUX that has it but do know it costs a bit more. read more

Do I really need to review this establishment.........I consider them the McDonalds of coffee houses...........(sorry Carol, no offense), but in a good way. Consistent, consistent, consistent. Plenty of seating and for Andersonville it is a central location for folks to meet up, study, surf the web or just plain people watching. But for me the internet access is the hidden gem here.....T-Mobile is Starbucks provider and will charge you to access, but Ranalli's Pizza is one the same block on Berwyn, so if you stay in the chairs closer to the register against the window on Berwyn, you can pick up the signal and surf for free. DISCLAIMER: I patronize Ranalli's at least once a month (GREAT PIZZA!!!!!), so I usually don't access during dinner hence noting this here. read more

This is just me bitching about this particular Starbucks. If you're not interested, move on to the next review. Starbucks is Starbucks. There's nothing I can tell you that you don't already know. In general, this one is probably a cut about the rest because of their staff. But what I HATE about this Starbucks is the layout. Their whole bean display is in the middle of a bottleneck between the front seating area and where you order. So there's no way to shop for whole bean coffee without being in everybody's way. On one end, you're in the middle of people waiting for their drinks. On either side, you're in the middle of a narrow aisle people have to walk through to order. There are even tables on one side, you if you're looking at coffees on the lower shelves -- a distinct possibility, since the top of the display is maybe chest-high -- you are literally shoving your butt into the faces of people sitting at the windows. As Borat would say, Niiiiice. This might be a tad less annoying if it wasn't for the fact that there's a whole wall of shelves full of coffee mugs, brewing supplies, and games at the end of the store, completely out of the way. How's about moving the coffee beans over here, Einstein? read more

I'm surprised to see such a range of reviews for all the Starbucks across the city. They're always kind of one in the same for me. I frequent this location most often, and it's always very busy. However, it's also very efficient. I'm usually in and out of there in no time. I appreciate that in my coffee shops. The staff is generally friendly, and they know their regulars. I agree with other reviewers that they seem to enjoy their job and their coworkers. I also like that in my coffee shops. While some people consider Starbucks to be an evil empire, I think it's just fine. I do prefer to patronize my local coffee shops, but sometimes I just NEED a frappucino like only Starbucks can create. read more

I have long thought about writing this review. Every time I sat down to write it, the review turned into a steamy, hot romance novel complete with Fabio on the cover. The barista would touch my creamy thighs. I would stroke his bare chest. And then we would live happily ever after in a bed of coffee beans and whipped cream. but, but, but - I don't think my Starbuck's Fabio works there anymore! Tragic day in the life of Mary. I still like this Starbuck's. They *usually* get my order correct without me saying anything. I won't say what that order is for fear that my Starbuck's Fabio wants to get married tomorrow or just have babies or something hot like that. The lines sometimes move incredibly slow, especially on weekday mornings between 7 and 9 a.m. I really cannot blame the baristas. It's mostly dumb customers who don't know how to work a gift card or have never heard of a latte. And sometimes, just sometimes, the baristas are annoyingly friendly. I know they don't REALLY care how my day is. I realize it's their job to fake it. I should shut my trap and be grateful for good service. For the most part, I am. I just wish my Fabio barista would come back and rescue me. My iced tea drinking would be so much more erotic that way. read more

Nice staff but Starbucks does not turn on the heat in their cafes in cold weather. This practice saves them money. It also prevents customers from sticking around for too long, or if they do, they have to buy multiple beverages to maintain a reasonable body temperature. It doesn't matter that the huge, uninsulated wrap-around windows contribute to the heat-loss in the room because they also provide good marketing views from the street. Plus, allowing natural light in saves them electricity costs. At four dollars per beverage, a customer ought to be able to drink it in relative comfort. Boo, corporation. read more

Poor service for an iced coffee. I ordered my iced coffee before a rush of people came and I was one of the last people to get my drink. This is after four people, two of which had lattes. I watched the barrista pour my drink together and it took seconds to do all that. Will I go back to that particular Starbucks? Not a chance, if you can't get it together for something you just pour into a cup I can't trust you with anything more complicated. read more

This is by far my favorite Starbuck's. I stumbled on it as I began my Swedish language immersion, and wish it was closer to my house. Or perhaps the employees could just transfer to the Starbuck's near my house. The people who work there are all really, really nice and you don't have to remind them when you order a non-fat no-sugar drink to not put whip on it. That is just plain common sense. What really constitutes the 5 stars is the fact I heard the guy working telling a customer how they save all of their milk caps and donate them to one of the area schools to help send them on a trip every year. How cool is that? Nice and they give back to the community. Definitely the best Starbuck's in the city. read more

When it comes to Starbucks, you know what you're getting. The menus at each franchise are just about identical, but there are distinct differences that make some branches more favorable than others. This review is meant to reflect what makes this Starbucks unique more so than the company as a whole. This location has lots of great casual work space. Though it always seems busy, I can always find a place to sit. The baristas are pros, and on the few occasions that someone has messed up one of my unnecessarily difficult drink orders, they have taken responsibility and fixed it. That being said, Kopi Cafe across the street and The Coffee Studio a few blocks North offer more personality and equally impressive service. For frequent coffee drinkers, I also strongly recommend pursuing a Starbucks Gold Card if you do not already have one. By simply reloading and reusing a gift card, you can easily reach Gold status. By doing so you get free flavors, free soy milk, and a free drink after every 15. read more

Supposedly, the Starbucks at Oak and Rush is Chicago's flagship store, maybe they should reconsider making it this location. The difference is the people. You get the feeling that the people who work here actually like each other and enjoy their jobs. I feel like they are actually glad to see me. My complaint is that the place is too small. They really need to consider moving into the recently vacated auto parts store two doors down. It can get really crowded here, especially on the weekends. This place gets way too busy for such a small location, but the employees are very adept at handling the crush of customers. I have never grown impatient in line here (and I can be very impatient). This is actually the best coffee shop in the neighborhood. It's ironic that the only coffee shop in Andersonville that feels like a cozy neighborhood hangout is run by a big corporation. read more

Great neighborhood, great coffee. Really nice location. Clark & Berwyn 10 min walk from Redline station. The staff is always friendly & joking around with everyone. They seem like a family behind the counter. Very knowledgable about coffee. You can tell they really enjoy what they do. Andersonville store was remodeled last year & it looks awesome. I go to Starbucks a lot and I have to say the Wilmette Starbucks on Greenbay Road does win for cleanest bathroom but this place wins for most engaging staff. They are so friendly and really seem to care about people or really all of their patrons. These are people of the community and know people who come in and they talk to them and also treat people like me who are once a weekers like friends too. The workers are a part of the store where some *$ you just grab your coffee and forget the people here you remember how they treated you. They could always clean a bit more but yea 5*. read more
