OK, so basically me and my friends wanted to get some Starbucks before road trip. we pull up to the Starbucks, just wanting some drinks and the man who took our order was fire and ice. He asked us if we're done and we respond with "yes, and we have a different order". He then goes "oh so you're not done". We were all agast. We then proceed to tell him the next order, just one iced strawberry açai lemonade. He tells us it's "discontinued". We call him out on his BS. I can't believe i haven't reviewed this Starbucks yet. This is my third place, my second office (really my first office). I have logged over a thousand hours in the last year in the corner of the room at the community table working and watching. I know all the team members, managers and the GM. Out of all the Starbucks in the area I chose this one to be my third place even though I live in walking distance of two in West Des Moines. Are they perfect, NO. But they are a great crew that works hard, works together and loves their store. I have never been to a store with so many Black apron or people working on their black aprons. The manager is loved across the area and the trainers train for other stores. Have they made my drink wrong before? Yes, rarely and typically somebody new and I correct them so that they can learn from it not berate them and give the store a 1 star. I have been to hundreds of Starbucks across the country and world and this is in my top ten for a place that have the IT factor. They teach more the the technical skill here, they teach the Starbucks Culture. read more

I concur with everyone; this Starbucks is definitely busy. This is my favorite location, though. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of Starbucks coffee (DD is infinitely better), but they have the sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup and heavy whipping cream that hasn't gone bad, so my low carb/keto side can be satisfied. They've never messed up my order; maybe it's because I'm always friendly to them even though I have an annoying order. I've been stopping by this location for years, and it's one of the better ones. As long as they don't mess up the mobile order racket they have going on now, I'll stay happy. read more

Did my first online order, nowhere on the app did it say pull up the speaker box and let them know it only says pull up to the drive through window so I did the lady was extremely rude telling me I should've gone to the speaker box first and she repeatedly slammed the window thing in my face without letting me finish my sentence. Next she forgot my bakery item and basically just threw it at it me and didn't even say anything after. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, this is one of the slowest Starbucks drive-through in Des Moines! In addition, they rarely get my order right. I'd go some place else if there were some place closer to my hotel! read more

Updated interior with an awkwardly situated drive-thru. Picky caffeinators beware. Very few of the baristas pour perfect drinks. Best time to visit? 6 people working one is mopping, ton of cars in drive thru, 2 workers looking at phone 8 people waiting for drinks. 10 minutes so far for a simple ice coffee, now floor mopper is making drinks oops back to floor mopping. Love the remodel!! Not that the old place looked bad or anything. This Starbucks is always busy beyond belief. I don't often stop at this location because of that resson. On my stop the other day, as were heading out of town, was pretty much the same. Long lines both inside and out. The saving grace was Sumatra on tap! My favorite coffee bean for sure, so the wait was worth it. My wife really loves their green tea latte, it's almost always why I have to stop here, well that and it's close to home. Bottom line pricey and long wait times might get you to travel a little ways down the road to an other Starbucks. read more

Huh. After reading Jesse's review, I'm stumped. This is my least-favorite Starbucks location in the DSM area. No matter whether I use the drive-thru or go inside, this location is S L O W. This is the closest location to my job, so I continue to be optimistic and try again every couple of months- have never experienced anything that I could call even remotely fast. I called corporate once, because I'd spent 12 minutes in the drive-thru (2nd car in line!) and corp agreed with me: that was TOO long. They refunded the price of my drink to my gold card. I'm giving this location 2 stars (instead of 1) because they provide a quality product. Everything is prepared well and delicious... just make sure you aren't in a hurry. read more

Service and quality here is terrible!!! The drive through is always 5-8 cars deep- moves at a snails pace. Today we went inside. Line in there did not move much faster. Ordered 2 iced coffees. For the second venté they put about 1/2 c coffee and ice out the top. We asked what was up with that and she just shrugged like 'what?' Had a bad experience today. It is the first day for holiday drinks and they are giving free cups so I understand why they are busy. My issue is with the mobile orders. I had waiting over 20 minutes for my mobile order when my neighbor walked in...stood in line and ordered...and walked out the door before me. Odd since I had ordered mine when I pulled out of my driveway. Ugh!!! About 15 others standing their waiting for their moobile orders too. read more

Starbucks coffee is not my top pick but we found ourselves in possession of a gift card and a Starbucks right by our hotel. I had a grande skim latte with a shot of caramel. This location has a drive through that was backed up on a Sunday morning. A couple of tables are out front to enjoy your morning joe curbside. Mediocre service trumped by problematic staff changes, and a Person who took order didn't even know Starbuck's proprietary product ("We don't have vanilla powder"). She was snippy when I told her they do, and I"ve gotten the same drink for years. At the window, she restated my order and delivered (I suspect deliberately) my coffee - wrong. Worse, when I called to speak with the manager, she was defensive (I think it was actually her who was working the window) an issue with my order as well as the window help. This falls behind a turbulent few years of constant staff churn. While their quality in overall fundamental delivery of basic purchases, they fall way short on customer service, or Starbucks' culture. I spend thousands of dollars each year.. most of it at this location. not anymore - I'll drive the extra couple miles to avoid it going forward. Nice move, Starbucks. Hopefully, Corporate will take notice and address this problem, before other gold members stop putting up with their sub-standard, mediocre experience. read more

This is the best Starbucks location in the metro. It was recent remodeled so is very nicely decorated. The service is outstanding and mobile orders are always complete at the predetermined time! I am the frequently and the baristas remember me by name! read more

This is by far the worst Starbucks I've ever been to - and the service and quality of the drinks are consistent (in the fact that they're always slow and the drinks never taste the same - doesn't matter what time if day it is). One morning I went in to order and waited 40 minutes for them to catch up with drinks. I had already paid and didn't want to leave. Another time waited 20 minutes in the drive thru (was stuck in between cars and couldn't get out). And most recently waited 10 minutes in the drive thru line for it to move one car length - this time I decided to just leave. Do not waste your time or money. read more

This Starbucks is one of my favorite locations for sure. The baristas are very kind and do a great job at helping, especially when it comes to redeeming star rewards from your mobile app. I usually go in to order, and although they are fairly busy, especially when it comes to their drive through, they get to everyone in a timely manner and they'll give you a heads up so that you know when they are starting your drink. They're very friendly and always offer up some small talk to brighten your day. They also have a small patio (about 4-5 tables) outside which makes relaxing and drinking your coffee while getting some sun very enjoyable. read more

I have had iffy experiences here in the past (slow service, less-than-friendly baristas, etc), but I recently gave this location another try. I have to say, I'm impressed not only with their interior remodel (again, haven't been to this location in a couple of years, so I'm not sure how recent this remodel is), but I was also impressed with the speed and friendliness of the staff. Since revisiting, I have been back several times, and my experiences have continued to be positive. Keep up the good work! :) read more
