Sun Valley might be a tourist destination but this Starbucks is one of the most notable in the world due to the building's refurbishment by locals and its treehouse look both inside and out. It pays homage to the brand, local legends, and the tourism. This is a Starbucks Reserve so their goal is a more upscale experience as opposed to convenience and speed. So sit back and relax! They will also offer your drink in a mug or glass if you're staying in house to enjoy your order. One of my favorite things about the Starbucks of the 2000s was the notes the baristas would write on your disposable cups. We went everyday we were in town for a midday pick me up, and each time we had a note or a picture. Love it! Sometimes it's just the small things! I'm a shop (or eat/drink) local type of gal, but I am addicted to Starbucks coffee so glad I can get my fix when in Sun Valley. I've been to many many Starbucks in my lifetime, but this is one of my favorites. It's western ski vibe fits right in with the adorable town of Sun Valley. It's also a great place to get work done, they have lots of info about things to do in their "visitors center" and even have a community room that looks perfect for a small meeting. A few years ago they were a little late to the mobile ordering game and I wasn't a fan of the long lines, but no issues with that now. At 6 30 a.m. I took a comfy sofa seat and for 40 minutes I listened to Spanish music . It was loud and I felt like I needed a margarita instead of coffee! It is Christmas time . No Christmas cheer no Christmas music . And we all know spending Christmas in Sun Valley is an Experience! Clearly this is not the place for that. Nice Starbucks in the visitor center in Ketchum. My niece loved going here and ordered her favorite drinks like the pink drink and the strawberry cream. She also liked the butter croissant and said they were larger than the ones back home. I had coffee at one time and another time, I ordered the green tea latte. Got a kick out of the green foam but it was delicious. Enjoyed sitting in the cozy chairs, sipping on our drinks and listening to to the good music. read more

If I could give this location 0 stars, I would. The staff was stuck up and extremely rude. We don't come here often and didn't know what to order. I'm lactose intolerant so I had to ask a few questions about their mixes and flavors to make sure they were dairy free and that seemed to annoy her too. The coffee I received tasted like water, so I asked if I could get something else, and she snapped at me "Okay so what do you want then?" as if me requesting something else was a huge inconvenience to her because she's busy laughing with the other baristas. I've met the owner of this Starbucks before who was super hospitable and if it was based off my experience with him would probably give it 5 stars, but it wasn't, which is why I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1, as for the other employees? Not so much. You'd think at least the morning staff would have an approachable and and friendly attitude, but no. I've been here in the winter and the summer numerous times and I get the same attitude from the staff. I don't know if it's because I'm not from around here but you'd think they'd want to add to this towns charm instead of take away from it. I continued to come back because it's something familiar but today it was the last straw. Yesterday I ordered an iced green tea latte, when I received it the matcha powder had not been shaken up at the bottom so I kindly asked if they would shake it for me. The reply I got was, " we don't do that here", so I proceeded to mix it myself. I came back today and ordered the same drink but this time at the register I asked for my drink to be shaken, thinking if I asked prior to receiving it they might be inclined to do so. Got the drink still not shaken because I guess " that's not something they do around here." As minuscule as this problem might sound you think they could perform such a simple task to make a customer happy. But wrong. I'd suggest to go to one of the more charming coffee spots in town. Coming from an avid "Starbucks-goer", I can honestly say this was one of the most unique Starbucks locations I have been to! It was so beautifully built! To begin, the staff members at this location were all VERY enthusiastic and eager to take orders. Both times I visited during my trip, there was a very long line; however, the baristas were very efficient and prepared to fulfill the orders and did so very quickly! There were many different options for seating both inside and outside of the building. Also situated in the Starbucks was an area that had pamphlets and brochures advertising different tourist sites, restaurants, shops, etc. Some of these even had coupons within them! Another thing I liked about this Starbucks location was the humane society book they had on the table near where customers wait for their drinks. This is something I had never seen before but thought it was a great way to advocate or animals needing homes and support the local humane society! Kudos to Starbucks for that! What a great place to grab some coffee and learn about what the area has to offer!! read more

Gorgeous store. Gorgeous location. Coffee is as good as any other Starbucks. I'd rate this place 5 stars, aside from one instance that put a bad taste in my mouth... I stopped in here this past weekend with my friends after we ran the Sawtooth Relay. While waiting for our coffee, I was chatting with one of my friends. He turned and his backpack nudged the display behind us. As a result, a ceramic mug fell and broke. He and I started cleaning it up, I looked back to see if any of the employees were coming to assist us. I saw them all look over at the situation, but remain behind the counter--leaving us to clean it up. Afterward, my friend went up to the front and told them what happened and offered to pay for the mug (as any decent human would). But what is so disheartening is that they actually made him pay for it! Now I am not being cheap here, but I am being practical--companies (especially corporate chains like Starbucks) have a budget for incidentals like that. (Also, this made me especially frustrated because I work at a local flower shop and people break stuff all the time! We never make them pay for it. Accidents happen.) My friend, with a gracious attitude (I was far more bothered by it than he was), went ahead and paid $18 for the mug. Like I said, beautiful store...but the service was very disappointing. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I live in the Wood River Valley and go to this Starbucks often. I was so excited when they added mobile ordering as this location is very busy, especially with all the tourists. Knowing this, I will put my order in with plenty of time. Yesterday I put my order for two tall black coffees with a shot of expresso each in 30 minutes before I was to arrive. When I did arrive, the place was a zoo exactly how I expected. I went up to the counter I told the barista my name as the sign says to do and how I've done countless times in the past. I received a very rude "we are extremely busy and will have your order soon" while not even checking the mobile order section. I could see my coffees. I had to wait at least 5 minutes to get another employees attention to hand me my drinks that I could see sitting there. Very dissatisfied. read more

Love this place, and it seems to do a roaring trade - probably because drinks are consistently good and staff are pleasant. Love that they always have every 'Special Reserve' coffee that Starbucks is offering, and they have locally made sweets and treats. Go to Starbucks almost every day where I live. Spend greater then $1K per year. First time I ever had concern and went to owner George. My daughter actually bought wrong thing by accident she was allergic to. Michelle then George basically said "too bad". More to this but to keep it simple, George failed me in"moment of truth" in representing Starbucks. Never will I step into this one Starbucks again, hopefully corporate will assess this franchise! This is a very pretty location for a Starbucks, and is usually very busy. However, I've had more rude staff here than I think is acceptable. They are always talking among themselves, with very little respect to their patrons. As soon as they take your order and your money they walk away to talk to each other and the patrons they find more worthy of conversation. I was given no receipt, and was never thanked. I am becoming less and less impressed with Starbucks. Starting with the ridiculous prices and in this case a horrible employee. In fact, I was told it was the manager, let me tell you my story. I came into Starbucks with my brother who had already been there earlier. After I ordered my drink, this beast of an employee asked me if there was anything else and I said, "yes my brother would like a refill." She started peppering my brother with questions such as, "this isn't a refill is it?" My brother replied "yes it is". Well, she replied "where did you get your 1st cup of coffee, it wasn't here was it?" My brother replied, "yes it was here." It was clear to my brother and I, and anyone else listening, that she was accusing my brother of lying!!! WTF! This is Sun Valley for Christ sake's, anyone here can easily afford a cup of coffee!!!!! Why would my brother lie for $.50? Her questioning led me to ask if this was the Spanish Inquisition and she shot back a look that was so insulting and her response was so anti-customer service I'm not even going to tell you. One of the nicest Starbucks I've ever been in. Just the building itself is beautifully designed: wood logs, lots of big windows and roomy, and that to me makes a big difference if I'm gonna hang out for an hour or so. There's nothing like drinking your favorite cup of Coffe watching snow falling...and they also serve wine in this location .
