Happy to be significantly updating my review to 5-stars. I have been in and out and through the drive through for over the past month and a half giving this location another shot. I'm happy I did:)the staff have been nothing but friendly, personable and accommodating, drinks very good and consistent, and all served in a great timely manner. Went through the drivethru that had a handful of cars and the staff apologized for the wait (which wasn't their fault due to the traffic). So I'm happy to say they finally got it together over there. They've been doing a great job and I suggest people that also were not pleased with their service in the past give them another shot! read more

This store is always busy, with limited staff, they all seem to work hard, not a moment anybody seemed to be slacking, but it seems there's not enough staff to handle the amount of customers? All were extremely pleasant and accommodating to my needs though (had to catch a train, they put some extra hustle into getting it out to me as fast as possible), it's a shame they have so little people.. read more

Basic Customer Service is a lot to ask for. I came in today for a simple breakfast sandwich and iced drink but left with a bad taste in my mouth (and I don't mean from the Strawberry Acai Refresher). The young man that took my order was very polite and informative about the products he was serving, however the "barista" who made my drink was very rude. I believe her name was Casey. She must not have seen me as I was standing, waiting for my drink, because she screamed my name she was yelling it in my face. This was an honest mistake and she was clearly realized what she did wrong but did not apologize. she just said "Ohh" and put my drink in front of me. No "Enjoy" or "Thank You" or "Have an nice day", Nothing. Next I go to sit down and notice there are crumbs all over the table. I go back to her and say, "Excuse me, The table is dirty, do you have a wet towel to wipe it off?" It took her a while to notice me because she was too busy playing with her nose ring and having a personal conversation (on the Starbucks headset) about her headache. When she did notice me she acted as if I was annoying her and said, "No, I don't have a towel". So I then said, "well the table is dirty". She then responded by saying, "If you want you can get me a napkin from over there and ill wet it" (in other words, if I WANT TO eat at a clean table I HAVE TO get HER a napkin... unacceptable). So I said, "you mean to tell me that you don't have napkins?". She said, "Not wet ones".... Like its my JOB to come up with a solution.... I get the napkins, she wets them and slams it on the counter in from of me and walks away. No, she didn't slam it to be nasty, but she did it because she doesn't care. She didn't look at me or smile once in this 2 minute encounter. I wasn't going to write this review because every other worker was polite and professional, but I sat in a dined and witnessed her adjust her nose ring again then proceed to make drinks for other customers. The nose ring thing really took me over the edge. I worked in food service for 9 years and it truly is not that hard to first, be sanitary and second, put on a smile and say have a nice day (even if your day sucks, it is your job as a customer servant!) Although this Starbucks is the most convenient in location, I will not return due to her poor customer service. read more

Few people in the place. The baristas are holding up the drive thru by talking excessively and not actually fulfilling their orders. My order was a Crème based Caramel Ribbon Crunch, which means no coffee. Then when I get it, all coffee! Even the label says crème based, the baristas messed up big time. My medium cappuccino was half filled. I told them to fix it, and they said they would charge me again if I changed it. Terrible service. I made sure to ask the barista for no coffee in the frappucino. These baristas are too distracted to even see someone in the drive thru. Please go to another Starbucks. And do yourself a favor and make sure you get what you order. This riverhead location is as bad as sour coffee. read more

I am writing this review as I am sitting in my car for the past 15 minutes waiting to order. This is 2 in the afternoon on a Wednesday, so it's not exactly peak business hours and the line hasn't moved! The sad part is that I have been here for 15 minutes and haven't placed my order yet. The employees all look miserable and lack enthusiasm. I just heard someone honk and I can totally relate to their frustration. I seriously hate you guys and I need my damn coffee. I am not sure what is going on but the last few times I have been there everything was messed up. Orders are completely wrong, given wrong order or it is week as anything PLEASE PAY ATTENTION!!! The gentleman working the drive thru last time I went (Tuesday 5/26) had hygiene issues. He literally looked as if he hadn't showered in a few days, was scratching his ass and reading a magazine while I sat at the window waiting for my drink for AT LEAST 5-7 minutes. Unreal. I love Starbucks. But this specific location needs some work. Every single time I come here they are out of most of their food items and they give you attitude like I was supposed to know they didn't have it. When you order a drink, you are basically paying for a cup of ice. And most of the workers here are rude and make it seem like a hassle when I ask to do two separate orders. I've been here a few times and every single time the wait is out of control. As everyone on here has written there is always 10 people behind the counter but nothing is moving. In fact, whoever came up with the design did a horrible job. They way the drive through line goes it block the ENTIRE parking lot for both side....Starbucks side and the Vitamin shop store. DO NOT park in the little lot. Might as well park in the big lot and walk over a few feet. At least you'll get your steps for the day LOL read more

Ah this place isn't that's great. Drinks are hit and miss my last drink was only three quarters filled and was watery. Overall the drive thru is TERRIBLE the line takes forever they only fulfill one order at a time so you can sit at the intercom for five mins waiting. Then the worst park who ever designed this place did a crap job. The drive thru line backs up so far it blocks you in your spot if you do go in. It's an absolute mess. Either need to speed up the drive thru or eliminate those spots. read more

Stopped in here on Sunday and I was surprised at how busy they were. There were 3 or 4 people working but they seemed to have no order to who made what as most people, including myself were waiting quite a while for our drinks. I'll cut them some slack on the wait time because they're new and it was busy, but my big problem was the fact that they screwed up my order and the girl behind the counter was so rude. I am a frequent Starbucks patron so I know the drill and how to order my drink. I ordered my drink the same way I do multiple times a week at all different Starbucks and when I finally got it it was sweetened, not unsweetened. I nicely told the guy making drinks and he said he'd fix it, but then this other girl, who seemed to be working the drive thru, came by and rudely took it and said she would fix it. She made the drink in the same cup and left my same straw in it which I thought seemed unsanitary, but I didn't say anything. When I got the drink back I tried it again and it tasted off so I asked her a question and she rudely answered affirming that it was made correctly and at that point I left. I will say that the guy making the drinks was very nice and accommodating, but that girl was a nightmare. When I need Starbucks in Riverhead I'll keep going to the one in Target where I've always had a very pleasant experience. read more

Customer service (drive-thru) totally sucked today. I ordered a medium cinnamon toasted macchiato around 1230 and the woman who took my order not only spoke over me thinking she knew what I was saying, but didn't take the chance to listen, and I ended up with a totally different drink. This was not a big deal to me, accidents happen. Fine. I was patient and polite, told her what I actually ordered as she rolled her eyes and took the drink back. Expecting to receive this drink that I normally get and is delicious, I instead get a drink that tasted burnt, disgusting, and not such a nice attitude from the girl at all. My experience today absolutely sucked. I understand that they were busy at drive thru and feeling rushed, but no reason for making a customers experience miserable by having such a terrible attitude, and closing the transaction with such a sucky drink that I paid 5 bucks for. read more

I agree with the majority of reviews about this Starbucks in Riverhead. It is the worst one I've been to on Long Island. The wait is terrible especially through the drive thru. If you think you're saving time by going in rather than waiting on the ridiculous line, you're not! Takes just as long which I completely don't understand when there was one person ahead of me. And whomever designed that parking lot should be fired. The line wraps around the building and if anyone is parked in the lot they can't back out!! I purposely avoid going to this Starbucks, mainly because of the horrendous wait and heavy traffic. The staff working there also look like they are miserable. I enjoy going to this Starbucks location on weekends when I visit Long Island. Everyone is super friendly and polite. I've been through the drive through often where you get quick service. I've never had any issues with rude service or wrong orders. When I have time I do enjoy going in and sitting down with my laptop to work on my writing. As a big fan of chai tea, Starbucks brand is my favourite. So I always have a Grande Chai tea with a large chocolate chip cookie. read more

I treasure every minute that I spend in this Starbucks. I am an online college student and work as a local actress in community theatre, so I often have tons of reading and writing to do in a short period of time. This Starbucks makes getting my crap done so much more pleasurable. I walk in and instantly feel loved and valued. The baristas are all so freakin cool; they know me by name and have my drink memorized. But it's not just me! They take care of all of their regular customers: knowing them by name, memorizing their drinks, recommending things they might like, and just asking them about how they're doing. Also, just watching how great the baristas work as a team is purely inspiring. They always have each other's backs when floods of people are coming through the store and the drive through. Sometimes it gets so busy that they look like they want to die, but they always pull their crap together and get it all done (despite the ugly people that complain and yell at them when they're working as hard as they can).
