Ordered and paid for a venti cold brew, no ice. Cup arrived literally half full and was explained its corporate policy to put 12 ounces of coffee into a venti drink if no ice is ordered. First time I've heard this explanation or had someone so militant about it in probably 60 different t locations across the country. They also got my second drink wrong (no syrup), remade it but without apology. Wrong kind of management here -- not customer focused. Putting another 25 cents worth of coffee in a $5.50 drink is not going to put you out of business. But this kind of service might. read more

The Starbucks in Shrewsbury, PA refuses to follow the corporate refill policy. They will not give a refill of tea if that was not your original drink. They told me it can only be the same drink as the original order for the refill. When I called the corporate number they read the policy to me over the phone as "regardless of the original order" a customer may receive a brewed tea or coffee refill. They gave me my money back and a small credit to my app for the inconvenience. While I'm happy that corporate took it seriously, I am very unhappy about the tone and nastiness of the employees at this Starbucks. They have followed the refill policy in the past correctly but recently the same employees are refusing to do so now saying "it's always been that way" and then refuse to give in-store customers a refill. The staff is amazing. So friendly, but their service times are the worst if any Starbucks I've been to. If you go when they are busy, expect to wait 20-30 minutes for your drink. As I was about to walk inside, I noticed an unused, packaged tampon on the sidewalk to the right of the front door and immediately judged the place. I thought if they can't pick up the trash, then the treatment of their patrons must be "in the gutter," too. Well, shame on me! Because this was the BEST Starbucks I've ever been to, tampons or no tampons! I only had one foot inside the coffee shop when I was greeted by three cheerful baristas. The young guy at the register gave me with a warm smile and told me he'd be right with me as he scurried to deliver a warm croissant to a waiting patron. Once he returned, he took my order (again with a kind grin) and then complimented my drink choice. He also asked if I wanted a bag for my boxes of instant coffee, too. I thanked him but declined and went on my merry way to the pick-up counter. I hadn't walked three steps and the young lady, who was preparing my drink, asked me if I wanted a bag, yet again. Not only did I appreciate that she was a multi-tasker but also her attentiveness. Again, I thanked her but declined. As I turned the corner to wait for my drink, she handed it over to me almost instantly. It also had no ice, which I secretly wanted, but forgot to ask for! It was like she read my mind, too! This might not seem like extraordinary customer service on the surface, but I can't ignore how any of the baristas made me feel--and that was ultra-special. After being treated like royalty, I now understand the tampon. Girls must chuck them on the ground before they go in because they know these lovely young baristas will not only give them a warm smile, exceptional customer service, a well-made coffee drink...but a tampon if they need them. This Starbucks sits in a perfect spot, just on the border between PA and MD. It features a drive through for those that don't need a break and a clean interior for those that do. It also has a cheerful staff and a quick drive through. The best thing about this location (beyond the staff and the actual location) is that they have a Clover machine. I'm trying not to be jealous of this tiny spot, because none of the stores closest to me have one. The Clover is most frequently used for their reserve line (my Jamaica Blue Mountain was excellent!) but they are able to brew any of their coffees in the machine, and can even adjust it for iced coffee if you prefer. Trust me, the coffee that you'll get is absolutely worth the time. read more

The hubster and I usually grab some coffee here on our way to visit his family in MD and the service/products have been consistently good, so no complaints there. I'll never understand Starbucks. At best, there is nothing special about this coffee. If you want a great coffee that's actually a bit special - go to Dunkin' Donuts. To me, even McDonalds coffee is way better and you don't have to take out a home equity loan for it. I actually find Starbucks to have an unpleasant aftertaste. I don't know of anyone who really loves the stuff so I can't understand its ubiquity. The experience of sitting in there texting with a grande chai tea latte with extra foam? Okay, still don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm a sucker for a double espresso in a corporate engineered hipster experience. I just don't want to pay an outrageous price for not-all-that coffee. That being said, I will occasionally stop in this location for an espresso. There's really no other place around to get one except Big Apple Bagels- and that's a whole other fiasco. The drive through is basically useless unless you have all afternoon to sit and wait around. I cannot believe how long people are willing to wait in the drive thru here! I've seen the line 10 cars deep and the average wait time per order is longer than for fast food. Other than that, what can I say- it's Starbucks. I recommend going across the street to McDonalds for a better cup of joe, then handing a five dollar bill to one of the panhandlers at the traffic signal on the way out and calling yourself even. read more

I have been going to this location for 2 years usually 3-4 times a week ( cutting back bc they are so awful). On average, they mess up my order once every week even though I order the same thing every day and their typical wait time at the drive through is 10+ minutes from point of order to pick-up. They used to offer a free drink certificate when they messed up orders, but haven't done that for over 4 months -- I would rather they just get the order right the first time, but if they mess up, it would be nice to even just get an apology. Today, the wait time at drive through was 16 minutes to get my drink and an additional 4 minutes to get my bakery item. No apology or acknowledgement on the awful wait time. This is the only sbx drive-through within 20 miles, which is why they get my business. However, I am cutting back due to their horrible wait times, messing up orders constantly and constantly being out of stock of seemingly every baked item - especially on Mondays when they don't seem to have any baked items in stock. Great for the area and always busy. However, the team needs to move faster when it comes to the drive up. We're there about twice a week and its always a much longer wait than other starbucks locations. I remember waiting one time in Towson for about half the time a wait here and they were bery apologetic and gave me a free drink coupon for sitting in my car for so long.
