This is another review where I would love if I could give 4.5 stars. I would firmly argue that this is some of the best coffee in Lancaster and [[HIGHLIGHT]]has one of the coolest interior atmospheres.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I typically go at least once a week before work. My order is 1 large hot latte and 1 large iced latte. I like to drink the iced latte before school then fill the cup up with ice and pour the (now room temp) other latte over it. That's how much I love this coffee. The only draw back is that the food situation leaves something to be desired. They usually have some sort of baked good/pastry in the display case, but I always eat breakfast before I go so I've never tried it. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in Lancaster, and I end up there at least once a day when I'm in town. My standard order is an iced latte with cherry syrup (although a latte with the peanut butter syrup is also delicious). I've tried cherry lattes elsewhere, but Mean Cups is the best. Nice and sweet, just how I like it, and you can actually taste the cherry. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There're plenty of seating options, both indoors and out, and a restroom for customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is quick (and not at all mean!). There's plenty of parking in the lot in front of the store. I do wish they had more food options, but there's not much aside from a small selection of baked goods. I was really disappointed with my experience here. I arrived around 1:35 PM, knowing they closed at 2:00 PM, and even asked if they were still open before ordering. They said yes, so I placed my order for a red eye and a vanilla iced coffee. I also left an extra $3 tip because I appreciated them serving me close to closing time. After rushing over to make it before they closed, I was frustrated to be handed two plain black iced coffees instead of what I ordered. The staff also came across as rude and seemed like they just wanted to get me out the door. If you don't want to serve customers close to closing time, it's better to say you're no longer taking orders than to accept them and hand out the wrong drinks. Really disappointing experience, and unfortunately I won't be coming back. read more

Easy parking out front. There's a constant turnover of cars here since people stop in for coffee and zip out. The line can be long but they work through the line quickly. The latte was great. The hot chocolate was also great! Unfortunately, the coffee cake was not so good - dry and dense. I'll skip the coffee cake next time. They take credit cards. read more

Our visit was a huge disappointment. We ordered four drinks: 2 drip, 1 cappuccino, 1 latte. We all had the same immediate reaction; these coffees are terrible. We braved the throngs to wait for these and then we ended up throwing all of them away. Terrible flavor in the drip, and the cap/latte were just milk with a hint of coffee flavor. Both of them were the same size, too. This is a place were you go for a caffeine-fix with sugar. Don't look for quality or attention to the drinks. Plenty of better coffee places in town. read more

Favorite local coffee spot, hands down -- the drinks are always good and despite the name of the joint, the staff is always friendly and happy to help or make a suggestion. Highly recommend the chaiders (chai + cider), which isn't strictly available during the fall, as well as their standard americanos. They offer a ton of specialty drinks related to holidays that are worth checking out too. Right now, it's close to St. patty's day and they have a bunch of related specialty drinks, like the Lucky slate (amaretto and almond milk), which is divine. Hang out in the spacious seating area at their primary brick and mortar location on Harrisburg Pike or find them at their stall during Lancaster Central Market hours downtown. There's coffee shops all over the city but this one still shines through! Fast, efficient baristas and yes, friendly despite the name of the establishment. This location is beautiful to boot. Exposed bricks and beams with interesting decor, large plants hanging from the ceiling and fun lighting. Local large art hang from the walls, Wi-Fi & water are available free of charge. Lots of locals and college students co mingle amongst the inside and outside seating spaces. The drink menu is vast with quality ingredients, there are always a few bakery offerings, including gluten free options. read more

Ordered a latte for $4, which is a pretty good deal for the size. Ordering was a little confusing under each drink they have single, double, Triple. Lancaster is filled with too many Starbucks and a majority of the small coffee shops are downtown where you have to pay for hourly parking. I'm very happy mean cup has been the same over the years. The spot is on F&M's campus right before you have to turn downtown. There's lots of free parking and a beiler's right next door! I like how there's options listed with prices for the amount of shots you would want added into your coffee. Americano was made with bottled water too not just on tap like most places. The side table with syrups/milk/sugar is always really clean. Service is nice and friendly. Great space to do work at I always chose mean cup as a study spot when I come home to Lancaster during breaks. Very colorful yet minimal interior. Plenty of outlets and free wifi. Seats are plenty and the chairs are leather/very comfortable. It's a bit chilly with the fan always on so I'll suggest a sweater! read more

I really loved this cute coffee shop, with lots of aesthetically pleasing decor and a fun logo that they had on t-shirts, stickers, and a neon sign. I got the chai latte, which was very fragrant and had a nice punch of flavor. I also got the pb&j bar, which was essentially a peanut butter blondie with a few swirls of jelly running through it. The peanut butter was the dominant flavor, and it was pretty sweet. It was also heavy, being quite filling without being that large. I don't think I would get it again, but I enjoyed it. read more

I never write reviews, but I just had the best experience at Mean Cup. I was giving my six-week-old son a bottle, occasionally sipping a London Fog, when a customer walked up and handed me a gift card because she remembered being tired when she had an infant. So kind! And earlier in the summer, when I dropped a cup of coffee trying to pick up my four year old - at nine months pregnant - another customer offered to purchase a replacement because "we've all been there." Stopped in after their summer COVID re-opening & they had some awesome social distancing measures in place. You cannot enter through the rear door anymore that faces Harrisburg Ave. The front now has more tables spaced 6' or more apart and cones with tape to indicate where to line up. The cash register is moved to the front door and there is a plexiglass shield at the counter. Masks required! One patron may enter at a time & you have Contactless payment by CC. You then step out of the store after ordering & your coffee will be brought out and placed onto an orange tray by the door. This was based on a July 18th visit. My iced coffee was still tasty. Be sure to ask staff to put your cream, sugar etc in for you since you can't do that yourself anymore. read more

I love this coffee shop! Being a really picky coffee drinker, this place finally stopped my Starbucks addiction! People there are super friendly and always great me and gets orders out fast. I would really love to support their business now rather than a fancy upscale shop. Parking is also really great, never had an issue since there is front store and back of the store parking. Ahhh I love this place! The inside is very modern and bright with plenty of seating. The decor is colorful and humorous. The coffee here is DELICIOUS. Bonus points for having soy milk at the creamer station and not charging extra for it like most places do. Also if you bring your own thermos, you can get coffee at a cheaper price! There is a selection of snack/breakfast type foods that I haven't had a chance to try, but the oatmeal bar that my friend got looked so crumbly and sweet. Cool coffee shop with an urban vibe to it. I ordered a fall special- the Maple Butter Pecan Latte, which was great. A little expensive (maybe even more than Starbucks) but I enjoyed it. I later went up to the counter and got some pasta salad for a snack, which was also really good but slightly overpriced for the serving size (about $4). This place was pretty diverse, with a crowd full of hipster students and adults having work meetings, but there was plenty of space and I managed to get my own table. The employee behind the counter wasn't exactly mean, but she definitely wasn't friendly. Being a fast paced coffee shop, I wouldn't take offense to it, but don't come here if you're looking for conversation. After I was sitting down for awhile, there was some sort of altercation between another customer and the same employee- the customer very loudly told the employee that she had come here 3 times and every time received very rude service. The employee seemed taken aback and possibly didn't not realize her attitude. All in all, this was a good place to get some work done for a few hours and the coffee was good. It would also be a great place to stop for a coffee on your way somewhere else, seeing as it was pretty fast. Was so excited to stop in today and support this local coffee shop. However they lived ok to their name a little more literary than I would have liked. I would have thought the staff would be happy to be returning to work and they would be excited to have customers lined up for a cup of coffee from them. However the man taking orders was down right rude. Yelled at my daughter for asking for a pastry they did not have and rolled his eyes when we asked for cream. We said thank you several times and never even record a smile or your welcome. The coffee there is very good but I can take my money elsewhere if rudeness is all I'm going to get. If you are looking just for good coffee this might be your place but a nice experience in any fashion they will not provide. read more

I believe you can bring your own refillable coffee mug and get cheaper refills depending on the size. Cute atmosphere, I love the vibe of the entire place. Crowd varies from college students studying, to casual meet ups, to business meetings. If you're planning on studying here, you might want to bring some headphones! Super friendly staff, GREAT drinks, I can't speak on their food since I've never had any from them. The prices seem a bit high for the food they offer, but the coffee won't let you down. Terribly Embarrassing! I was recommended to go to this place by my friend who did their logo. I brought a couple of clients from NYC. The water used to brew the coffee was way too hot, the beans were over roasted and the end product was disgusting. Burnt beans, over heated water gives a bitter taste and they don't know how to add foam. My clients literally threw the coffees away in the trash can next to the counter. Bummed! read more
