Beers from the menu
Brian B.

I'm sad to say that this was a let down from every angle. I tried to find a diamond but I could not. The place boasts German beer and German food but except for an Oktoberfest flag near the hallway to the restrooms and a randomly placed poster of Oktoberfest poster it is bleak and sterile. Concrete floors, subway tiles behind the bar and plain blue walls are really throwing off the German vibe. The beer seems authentic but of all the seasonal beers painted on the wall only one was available so I ordered a Dünkel from the main selection. It was alright but it came with lots of head and the bar keep overfilled the mug to compensate. Except she wiped down the outside of the glass with the dirty bar rag instead of using a water spout to clean the outside. And the beer was almost flat. Moving on to the main course, I ordered Jäggerschnitzel with käsespatzle and home made chips. The schnitzel was huge and then placed right on top of everything. This made the chips soggy and not enjoyable. The cheesy spatzle was not spatzle at all but was just a version of Mac and cheese using shells instead of elbows and nowhere was it authentic spatzle. Finally, the schnitzel. There was 5 mushrooms in total and a small drizzle of sauce. I asked for more sauce and I was given a small cup of brown gravy that seemed like instant gravy to me. The worst part was the schnitzel was raw. I mean some of it was cooked but some of it was raw and I mean raw. I spoke with a person who apologized and compensated the meal and that was great but I declined his offer to return or for a free round from the bar. I really wanted this place to shine but one star for terrible atmosphere and food, but you gained a star because you recognized the error and took care of it. Good accountability but it should never have happened.

dunkel and Maibock beer. Love it !

Try this place. It's big but empty . Good music and service . Excellent Traditional classic larger Biers with no flavors ; water , malt , hops and yeast are the only ingredients allowed for brewing Bier ! Food for vegetarian is limited and they remove meat from the Nacho and salad . Try house made chips , fried fresh in their kitchen.

Sorry - couldn't stop to take the picture until we were all done!!

Delicious food - we missed taking a picture because we couldn't stop stuffing our faces. Wonderful service! Wonderful beers and drinks. High ceilings, mood lighting. Jaegerscnitzel! Steak Frites! Haddock! Delicious salad and Spaetzle!

Stopped in a few weeks ago, and their staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the beers, plus other local places to check out. The beers on tap were all traditional German styles, and they only had four... but they were all very good. The Pilsner and Christmas Bock were delicious. Drove by today and noticed they were building an outdoor patio seating area in the parking lot. Couple that with their food options, and you've got a good reason to check this place out.

Pilsners & German soft pretzel w/hot mustard

The best & most refreshing Pilsner in York County. German food is top notch. New location & looking great!

It's a brewery to add to check off the list but I wouldn't add it to the list of places to return to. Unless of course you live right there in town. I like that they are a German lager brewery and aren't trying to make weird concoctions like most brewery's infusing their beers with all kinds of different flavors. They use only the basic ingredients all from Germany. (Not the water) and they do not really sell food either. However they have a small menu but I don't recommend ordering from them. They just reheat soft pretzels and bratz in a toaster oven. Not very sanitary. Bar tender didn't use gloves, bread bags were left open and fruit flies we're all around the food sitting out as it was prepared. Owner changed his socks right behind the bar... Regardless, the beer was good! We did the Groupon deal but they didn't have the free glasses so they gave us an extra 3oz of our favorite. It was hard to find because you drive into an industrial park and approach the building from the back truck docking stations. They should put a sign with an arrow pointing to the front. Parking isn't an issue and there is plenty of seating inside.

The dunkel was on point and wasn't bitter like others who have tried brewing it without German standards and with cheap, substitute ingredients.

You are literally drinking beer surrounded by the raw ingredients. The indoor taproom is great, but the outdoor space is where the magic happens, especially when they have live music on the weekend. It's a relaxed, community-focused vibe, and while they are a working farm, they've set up the guest area perfectly and they have great service and staff. Beer quality is top-notch, which makes sense when they grow their own star ingredient. Their IPAs, like the E-Z Super Soft IPA or the HZ IPA, are incredibly fresh and fragrant. But what I love most is the variety. I've had fantastic beers across the board, from a crisp Kolsch to a rich Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout. Check their website for the food truck schedule; they always have great food to pair with the brews. Black Locust Hops is a genuine gem and a must-visit for anyone who appreciates local ingredients and high-quality, craft brewing.

Great place to let the kids run around while enjoying some cold beers with friends…read more We me up with another family and the kids had a great time on the unique playground at the bottom of the hill. It's made from old tires (mostly) in different configurations for climbing or balancing but also has a duel slide thats about 30 feet long, and not tooo steep. The beer was solid - I had a märzen (tis the season), a stout, and a hazy IPA. Stout was my favorite, with a super rich flavor profile. My wife enjoyed her wheat beer as well. We got the soft pretzels, which came with plenty of cheese sauce and brown mustard for dipping, and late got sandwiches from a food truck parted on-site. The kids also got ice cream.... Menu included pizza and nachos as well.

They had someone playing guitar and singing, and the acoustics in the place were horrible, so we couldn't even determine the song being played. It didn't help that it was packed with lots of kids. Our first server took our drink orders and then never came back. Eventually, another server took our beverage and food order. Beers were good and so were our chips and guac. After screaming at each other to even be heard, we decided it was time to leave. Our second server could not find our first server, so we only had to pay for the second round. Would not go again, unless it was a beautiful day!

Only weird thing about the bar was the bartender seemed kind of annoyed at everyone. We were able to grab a table and chairs outside but this is a good spot to bring chairs and a blanket just in case you can't find seats. This particular day, it was quite busy and unfortunately, there were more children here than there were adults. I get it, there's not much to do out in these parts and for the parents, I'm sure the prospect of setting up a picnic and letting their kids run around the lawn is a big pro. However, it becomes a BIG con for me as a childless person just trying to enjoy myself when there's a cacophony of children screaming, babies being changed on the table in front of me, kids running around unattended, and just general chaos. I don't know how it became so normalized for breweries, where there's alcohol being consumed, to become playgrounds for small children but here we are. My recommendation would be to provide a "child-free" section. The place is absolutely enormous so it wouldn't be hard. Perhaps the "stable bar" area and the lawn in front of it could serve as this child free area. Or maybe there's specific days of the week or certain times of day children aren't allowed? Beyond this complaint, I was pleased to see the food truck menu way more expanded than the last time I was here. They even offer gluten free pizza now! It was pretty good too. I enjoyed the grapefruit seltzer which came canned and loved the mango seltzer slushie. My boyfriend liked his pilsner and hefeweizen, too. Service from one of the bartenders was curt and standoffish - she seemed extremely stressed to be pouring beer and rolled her eyes or scoffed at any request for a sample. Other bartenders were holding it down and keeping their cool though -- she could learn a thing or two from her coworkers.

The grounds are really beautiful and would definitely make a good place to host a wedding or other big event. They make their own cider and beer and their menu features a few gluten free options including GF buns and GF pizza crust with other GF options clearly marked. We ordered the brussel sprouts and buffalo wings to share and my grandma and I split a white pizza on cauliflower crust. The brussels were good but nothing life changing - I do think if they cut them in half they'd have turned out more crispy and less mushy. The buffalo wings were slathered in a delicious sauce and very good. The white pizza was just OK. We asked for chicken to be added but they forgot. The crust was thin but not very crispy. I caught a glimpse of their regular pizzas which looked delicious if you are able to tolerate gluten. I also had the Wyn-mosa, their take on a mimosa. It came with their citrus cider mixed in and it was a really nice combination. They even put a candle in our dessert for my grandma, after I secretly requested it. The food is nothing super memorable but it's a good option if you're in the area.
