The Dakota truck was as advertised. It had a little tic tic in the engine but ran well in the test drive. I decided to buy it. I put some gas in it then drove about 8 miles down the road and the engine blew up. I informed Starfire and they just said we sold it as is. Bought an old Celica from them. I knew I was taking a risk, but the first thing my mechanic told me was that the smog check sticker on it was clearly fake because there was no way that car passed a smog check the month before especially when the salesperson told me the car hadn't been driven for a month yet passed a smog check a month before. So apparently, it passed a smog inspection, sat there for 30 days, then somewhere from me buying it and driving it home became an exhaust filled mess. 4 months later (just outside of the 3-month warranty I bought, which the salesperson tried to get me to purchase the cheaper one that doesn't cover gaskets) the head gasket blew. My mechanic told me the car had no thermostat and strongly suspects that someone was trying to pass a bomb off, but he couldn't prove it. The owner of the business says that people shouldn't expect anything else from old cars, and I absolutely agree. No one should patronize their business, they should go somewhere more reliable with newer, better inspected cars. read more

I visited this page after a text exchange with Starfire and was not surprised to see how many other bad reviews they have earned! Even better is their obnoxious replies to all the bad reviews, lol. Starfires' setup is designed to make the experience of car sales EASY FOR THEM NOT FOR YOU. Starfire refused to answer any questions I had about the mechanical condition of the car and kept telling me that all the information I needed to know was on the website. Only superficial and positive information is listed in the sales copy on their website, obviously. When I asked them for relevant information such as the condition of the engine mounts and water pump, they came at me with this attitude of like "what do you want from me? We have over 500 cars... how are we supposed to do inspections on them all?" HOW AMAZING IS THAT? So let's think about this business model: buy a car wholesale, don't do a thorough inspection, then set a price that is fair ONLY if the vehicle were to be in excellent condition. Be inflexible on the price. Expect the customer to deal with the rest. How are we as buyers supposed to agree to go out and see a vehicle that has a fixed price but not a propper appraisal? Their business practice seems like a bad combination of them knowing their vehicles aren't reliable and a brat mentality of expecting the world to bend itself to their needs without regard to the needs of their customers. The guy that owns this place is a complete CLOWN! I made an appointment yesterday to view a truck they had which I saw on Auto Trader, BEFORE I checked the Yelp reviews. Well after I checked the reviews I promptly cancelled the appointment. I then got a text message verifying that I was cancelling the appointment and asking why. I explained to them why after reading their reviews I was very apprehensive to do business with them. The owner then proceeded to argue with me via text saying that 90% of the yelp reviews are from people who have never bought cars from them, and after dealing with him via text I can see why!! Completely unprofessional and confrontational, and blames everyone for their poor reviews and takes no responsibility for the way he treats people. Do yourself a favor and avoid this idiot at all costs. PLEASE read the reviews before you attempt to do business with these people. Also they have a goofy system where you have to watch a video and make an appointment online, then text to verify the appointment before they actually confirm the appointment. Another goofy rule they have, if you do not buy the vehicle on the first visit they will not sell it to you??? Very bizarre and not customer centric way to do business. The problem wasn't David's unwillingness to accept a $500 discount on the car. The problem was David's rude remarks toward me. He did not offer any solutions or even offer me to look at other cars. He simply was rude and gaslighting, similar to your comment below. No one would want to interact with anyone the way your staff has. It's unprofessional and inconsiderate. But gladly I found a car with much better quality, much better staff, and from a different shop. And here's another review to help future customers beware of the issues your staff has. Absolutely thrilled with my experience there. They are kind of a no nonsense outfit, so if you're just trying to go around and kick tires then you won't do well. If you're ready to buy and looking for a great deal, this is the place. Their cars are super aggressively priced, it's a no frills dealership that's appointment only, hence the good deals. They had exactly what I was looking for: a $3800 lifted suburban with low miles, basically the best deal possible. What I didn't want was to pay double for a dealership nearby, cold bottled water, and a salesman I. A suit. I just wanted a good price and that's what I got. The car looked great for $3800, It probably had about $3000 worth of suspension and tire work done so it was a total no briainer. Almost nothing worked: AC was out, gauge cluster didn't work, radio didn't work, key fob etc... but the engine and transmission were good and it only had 128k miles, and honestly for $3800 I would have been happy if the car was simply running and drivable. They practically gave the car away at that price. It turned out the gauge cluster just needed a $1 fuse and a ground wire for everything else to work. The experience was incredibly smooth and no nonsense. Made an appointment, Ubered there, car exceeded my expectations, he tossed me the key and I test drove it, bought it 10 min later and after 15 min of paperwork I was out the door with a big smile on my face. Took it to a mechanic next day, he replaced a fuse and a ground, changed some fluids and filters, and gave the whole thing a thorough inspection. Mechanically it's in immaculate shape, cost me $120 for all the work and now I have a completely bulletproof lifted monster truck for almost nothing. Couldn't be happier If you want the absolute best deal you can get but still deal with a dealership, this is the place. The whole point of this dealership is VALUE. If you want salespeople wearing suits, huge fancy dealership with a Starbucks cafe inside and other things that add overhead and cost to the cars they sell, go to fletcher jones. This place is no nonsense, they keep overhead low so they can have the best prices, that means you have to make an appointment, drive a little off the beaten path, deal with a no nonsense sales process where you're expected to come, inspect a car, and make a purchase. This is all so they can sell cars cheap. I saw some of the negative reviews before purchasing and It's obvious they are going to get a lot of crazies selling cars at these kinds of price points. We made an appointment the night before and confirmed it with the owner via text (I followed their instructions with zero problems). When we arrived, the car was there for us in front. I checked in with the lady and she said go have fun with the car. We Inspected it thoroughly without anyone hassling us. When we were ready to go for the test drive, he took a copy of my license and we went without a hitch. Came back, spoke with Brandon. He was polite and professional. He completed the paperwork and we were out the door with the car in 20 minutes. It's the perfect setup for buying a car you have your eye on. Notes: this isn't a car Dealership, it's more of a car lot. Don't expect to go in and just walk around looking for cars. All the cars are detailed very thoroughly on their site. I am updating my review because I purchased another car here a few weeks ago. A Chevy Malibu 2007. Since I already knew the process it was very fast and easy getting in and out of the dealership. I purchased the Chevy with a certified check so I knew the exact amount before getting to the dealership. I would highly recommend if you're not taking a mechanic to google a check list for things you want to take a look at when buying a used card. Sometimes there might be tiny things we can easily forget, google a check list & take a pen! This 2nd time around there were so many minor issues that very quickly added up and resulted in more out of pocket cost after purchasing. But I mean, what do you expect? Some of these cars are pretty old, it's normal. Just do your research, and take your time checking out the car, it will be sold as is. Lastly, the chevy had a windshield that was cracked (knew coming in). We took it to a repair shop they work with and paid $150 to repair. Originally was told it would be $120 but I ended up contacting Starfire Auto about new price and received a $30 check from them. Do not buy a pig in a poke. You show up at Starfire with a cashier's check, and the owner pesters you for confirmation. Then you have a chance to drive the car 4 miles, turn around and come back, then fill out paperwork renouncing any ability to appeal the sale, which is 'as is.' In my case, the motor had been pumped full of enough goo to mask the blown head gasket for about 500 miles, while also destroying the radiator and water pump. A glitch on the test drive created a need for Starfire to get their top-notch mechanic to address the problem (check engine light), and they promised to replace a part and put it in the truck so I could confirm the work had been done. No such part was left in the truck, and the actual mechanic who replaced the worthless motor confirmed that no new part had been installed. Anyone buying a car here gets what they deserve, I suppose. Needless to say, I recommend buying from an actual dealer, and take the car to a trusted mechanic who will do an actual analysis before you purchase anything from anyone who demands payment while guaranteeing nothing. About 2 years ago my son was graduating from high school, in need of his own wheels, and had limited funds. We searched online and discovered Starfire. Unique business model, but it was just what we were looking for. Clear communication, No pressure, it seemed they were most interested in not wasting their time, which was great because we didn't want to waste our time either. We found 2 cars in their inventory which we liked the looks of. When we arrived the cars were just as described on the website. We test drove, inspected the cars, and decided to purchase one of them. The process was smooth, quick, and hassle free. Again it seemed the primary goal was to not waste anyone's time. The title arrived in the mail shortly afterwards. My son purchased a Japanese import with about 180K miles on it. It needed some work after we initial purchased it, but other than that, it has been a reliable car. He is still driving it 2 years later. Great car buying process, but I recommend that potential buyers keep in mind that the cars being sold at Starfire are generally near the end of their economic life. So do your research, inspect the cars carefully, know a mechanic you trust, and be prepared to have some maintenance costs if you plan to operate the car for any length of time. I needed a car to take me from Point A to Point B, nothing too fancy. I selected three cars, and made the appointment to come in. When I arrived, there were four cars waiting for me. The salesperson, David, told me that he selected a fourth car for me based on what I had chosen for the other three, because he thought that it might be a better fit. Umm, hello, how nice is that? I test drove the other three first because I thought I knew best. And then I drove the car that David selected. And immediately, I understood why he selected this one for me. It was far superior to the other three in terms of both mileage and the way it ran. And the price was within the same range as the others, too. I walked out less than an hour later with my "new" car. I also have to stress how honest David was throughout the whole process. Starfire Auto is not shy about the issues that their cars might have. David pointed out several things that were less-than-optimal about all four cars that I test drove. But that's what you get when you're buying a cheap used car- you can't expect perfection. And in most cases, you can't even expect to have an honest salesperson on the other side of the transaction. But that was certainly not the case at Statfire. I bought my car in early July, and it hasn't given me any problems over the past 3 months. I wanted to wait a while before leaving this review, just to make sure. Anyway, again, if you don't like their approach to business, I suggest going elsewhere. You would think during covid a local business would appreciate its customers; but according to the owner Abe "I will lose a customer over $100". This is a small business renting a small space on the side of a garage that's trying to "Act" like a big box dealership it is far from that. If you are looking for a decent car yes they have them; if you are looking to be respected and valued as a paying customer you will have a difficult time here. Buyer beware! After purchasing a vehicle from this dealership my husband and I took it to our mechanic to have a thorough inspection. We found that there had been pending check engine codes erased. The work needing to be done is something we were prepared to deal with and have amazing mechanics ready for the task (Sierra Auto Care). This is just something we've become accustomed to after buying used cars for cash price. I just wish it would have been an up front situation where we were given all the correct facts before purchasing. Also, the gas tank was on empty for the test drive.....not sure why they would present a vehicle like that. read more
