Went to have my roots color retouch , hairstylist(Lynn) hurriedly decided to make it "lighter" so it will blend with my highlights, I trusted her expertise, but I was not satisfied coz it's too light and my gray hair still showing , called the hairdresser the next day and asked nicely to have it redo again , instead I get this attitude from the hairstylist, after speaking with her I was not comfortable her touching my hair again and ask again nicely If someone can do it aside from her (her attitude and her "fail" job) made me think twice of getting her fix the problem.. Lynn wasrude and said "no! I'll do it ! But next time I'll not do it free again!!!" Wow!!! I was never treated that way b4 by hairstylist.. she also said she is the manager .. what a way to lose a customer.. smh. read more

I can't complain about this place. Stylist Lynn did a great hair color job on my hair, blow dry looked good, I saw she cut for another family's kids and they looked great and were happy too! Lynn is very sweet, fast, efficient, knowledgeable and salon looked clean and welcoming. I'll bring my Mom here, she'd love it too. Definitely recommend! Prices were reasonable and plenty of free parking. Convenient location near UPS, Walmart, Manna donuts etc. and near Fort Worth Alliance Area with its Costco, Target and other stores. read more

I was in the area and looking for a place to get a haircut before I go to dinner. I don't know how they get so many positive reviews on yelp, but anyways I was fooled in because of that. First of all, I'm new to here so I don't know how people do business here, but I do believe there are certain standards that needs to be met. With that being said, let's start with my disappointing experience. When I sat down, I was immediately shocked. They literally placed two pieces of tissue paper around my neck and tied it with the hair apron thing.... Really !? How is that going to prevent hair from getting in? And the lady cutting my hair is somehow very impatient. I can't really understand what she said, so I kindly ask her to repeat some of her questions. I don't know if that upsets her or anything, but she wasn't very attentive at all. But you know what, that's okay for me. As long as you give me a decent haircut we're fine! But unfortunately that's not the case as well... the lady cutting my hair used the same old hair clipper for 90% of the time and trim a bit of my hair off the top and she's done...literally took her 5 minutes. Kind of reminds me of cutting my friend's hair back in college (using one clipper the whole time). And it gets worse! After she's done, I asked her if she can make my hair a bit shorter on the sides. She trimmed my hair with half of the hair apron down, and hair falling all over my body!!!!! When she was done, I have hair all over my neck and my shirt (and in my shirt, which was worse...). I was planning on going to dinner after my haircut, but I have no choice but to go back and change. Thank you Starr Salon for ruining my evening and ruining my hair. read more

I decided to walk-in to get a hair cut today. Tina cut my hair perfectly the way I explained to her. She took her time to make sure that I look good. She is super detail-oriented as she knows that Asian hair need special care. Reasonable price for a men haircut, $14 plus tips. Tina works only on Friday & Saturday. She will be my hair stylist from now on as long as I live in Fort Worth. No long line and walk-in is welcome. Quick, convenient and very honest options and recommendation for your hair styles. Horrible skill. Not patient to listen to what hairstyle you want, keep telling you you don't understand her. Only five minutes hair cut, charged $18. She rushed to serve other customers. I will NEVER be returning to this salon ever again in my life. When I showed up at one of the stylist very first appointment, I have to wait 10 mins because she was in the back washing her hair. Come to find out she didn't make it home tell 2 in the morning. After picking my color that I wanted my hair to be dyed she started to apply my dye. I do not know if there is a certain technique to the way a professional applies dye but I felt like she was doing it wrong. she would apply dye half way down my strip of hair and then push the other half that was untouched onto the top of my head in a pile. I understand taking on people as your client waits for the dye to set into their hair, but this women was taking client after client. My thought were that she didn't play her schedule very well for that day. she rushed me to the wash station right before taking on another client, where she barely attempted to wash my hair before she ran back to the other client. she left me in the sink for 10-15 minutes. After she was done doing to more clients she rushed over to finish me but another stylist took me on. then the manager I am assume blow dried my hair while my stylist was with another client. I almost left after that but she came back quickly and straighten my hair for me. That is when I unhappily left. The stylist did an okay job on my hair I am still trying to figure out if I like it but my whole experience was horrible and I will never be returning. read more

Great place to get a hair cut. Being asian and live in fort worth, it's a little hard for me to find a hair dresser who understand how to cut asian hair. i found starr salon and immidiatelly made an appointment. i went there to get may haircut twice in 4 months and both time they did a great job. it is a little bit of a drive from where i live in downtown, but it's worth it. I have been going to Starr Salon for 4 years, and I have to say it's my favorite salon in the entire metroplex. Ladies, don't be fooled by the simple decor and family atmosphere, these ladies are the very BEST at cuts and color and the prices for their work is outstanding. I have never left unhappy with my hair. They really care about getting the haircut and color right. They will ask to see your reference picture several times to make sure they're accurate. (I've always hated when I went to a salon and the stylist looks at the pic once and is like K GOT IT because they never do!) Not only do you get a top notch haircut and color, but the prices are just insanely good. You won't get a better hair cut for the price in the metroplex. You just won't. Give them a try. I have been going to the Starr Salon to get my hair cut for many years, but today was probably my last. They are not following to recommendations set forth by the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation for opening back up during the COVID pandemic. The recommendations state the following: - Appointments should be scheduled to limit the amount of people in the salon. - Walk-in clients should wait either in their own cars or outside with at least six feet separation between individuals. - Do not allow clients to bring extra people to the appointment, such as children. - A sign should be posted at the entrance to the salon with a phone number that clients should call to schedule an appointment when they arrive outside the salon. - Only bring clients into the building when the licensee is ready for them, to eliminate anyone needing to spend any time in the lobby or waiting area. - Remove all unnecessary items such as magazines from the lobby or waiting area. - Signs should be posted at each entrance and eye-level at stations notifying clients that people with symptoms of COVID-19 or who have recently been exposed to someone with symptoms must reschedule their appointment - Require all clients to wash their hands upon entering the salon and before each treatment. - Take measures to ensure that clients do not interact with each other in the salon. - Face masks or fabric face coverings should always be worn by employers, employees, contractors, and clients while inside the salon/shop, even if individuals are practicing social distancing. Not one of the above was happening. Walk-ins were coming into the establishment and allowed to sit in the building. There was one child in the waiting area. There were no signs posted on the door or the windows. Magazines were in the waiting area and they even allowed one client to take a magazine to their car while she waited. I was never asked to wash my hands when I entered. Only one worker was wearing a face mask. I even had an appointment, but had to wait 50 minutes because of the walk-ins. I'll find a place that actually adheres tot he guidelines set forth by the State of Texas and the Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation. read more

The old owners were definitely weird like the other reviewer said. They recently had a change in management and that's when i started getting my haircuts there. I have been trying to find a place that would cut my hair the way I WANT IT and not how they THINK would look good on me. Ive tried many high class salons and it was all a big FAIL! I came into Starr salon and gave it a try because it was next to T'S ASIAN KITCHEN (go try it) and fell in like. I have been searching for a local stylists to give me a good cut in which I could wear my hair down or have it up, especially in a ponytail, as that's how I have it when I work. I noticed the Starr Salon in the same shopping center as my UPS store and thought I'd give it a try as they take walk ins. The two ladys there at the time were very accommodating and I was seated at Tina's station and I informed her of what I desired and she cut and styled my hair perfectly. It was nice to have my hair worn down and in a flattering way. I am definitely going back there and I would recommend this salon for anyone that needs their hair cut and styled. One star because the owner of this salon is extremely rude. It's her way or the highway. The staff is nice and try to make it up but have no say in that place when she's rude to customers.
