She has "slim-fitted" countless shirts for me, dress and casual. Yes, the shop is a little outdated, but perhaps that is why her prices are so reasonable. And she is a sweetheart! I don't like to leave bad reviews especially for small businesses but this was truly the worst alterations experience I've ever had. I dropped off several items for alterations and was told they would be ready by when I needed them in 3 weeks and to call on week 3 to confirm pick up date and get a price for the items. I call at the beginning of the third week and she had not even started on my items but assured me they would be ready by the end of the week. I call the day before pick up and she still had not started on my items but again assured me they would be ready. I go to pick up my items at the end of the agreed upon pick up day and she had only completed 1 item which was just to sew a button on, she had opened the seams of my second item making it unusable and unfinished and had not even started on the others. I ended up taking all my items back and bringing them somewhere else but they will not be ready in time for the event I need them for because of this business' unprofessionalism and unreliability. I can't speak to the quality of the work but I certainly would NOT recommend this place if you are looking for a reliable and timely alterations service. read more

Stasia has now amazingly tailored two dresses of mine. She is very detailed oriented and knows exactly what things need to be fixed within a clothing piece. I heard about her through a good friend of mine that swore on her great sewing skills and reasonable pricing, Stasia has not disappointed me yet. Thank you for helping this 5'2 girl not be drown in her dresses. One thing I would improve is the cleanliness of the shop, in order to make it welcoming for customers. Got my suite perfectly altered here and didn't take that long . Very nice lady that owns the place. Price was that bad for the area.

Don't be fooled by the outdated decorum. This woman is a solid tailor! Decently priced. I think it ran me $110 yo have a full 3 piece suit fully tailored. I received the ants that were a 40" waist and I'm a 34". They were also super long. Vest was way to big and jacket needed to be brought in and shortened. Lots of work!! Stacia did an amazing job. Found Statsia by accident when I was looking for someone who could and would repair a Bluemarine Skirt...after a few "no's" from other places who were a little daunted by the material and the stitching, I found one person who said yes and did an amazing job. Fast forward to multiple pieces that I had to take in or shortened...I am a big fan...and have friends that are fans too! I have never given a review before. This experience was so bad that I just had to! When you walk in and see how unkept this place is, trust your instincts and turn around. I wish I had but the yelp reviews were good. Dropped two pair of pants off of Monday am and she promised the would be ready by 11 on Friday. I'm just visiting the area and needed to leave Friday afternoon and I told her so. Was somewhat nervous because I wasn't given a receipt nor did she take my phone number. She made no notation and I insisted on giving her my name (although she didn't ask). In addition, another lady came to pick up and her items weren't ready. A mistake can be overlooked but this is the way she does business. No receipt, doesn't take notes, names or phone numbers! Arrived to pick them up at 1pm on Friday and she hadn't started! Not even an apology! She just said to come back Saturday! Her body language was angry when I asked for my unfinished pants back. The parking is awful and I parked around the block. Returning to my car, I realized that I had parked in front of another alteration place ( starts with an S). The place was well lit and immaculate. Unfortunately I had to leave town and didn't get a chance to use them. read more

After reading Margaret A's negative review, I decided Stasia must be the seamstress for me. She did a beautiful job on a pair of trousers for a reasonable price. No, she doesn't give you a written receipt. She had the job done exactly when she said she would. I was surprised to find her standing in the shop with the trousers in her hand at the agreed on time. She said, "I saw you coming through the window." She did expert work. She has been in that location for 33 years. This is the kind of old school work that it is almost impossible to find any more. I am sending everyone I know to her. Read Margaret's review again. She says her instinct was to turn around and leave immediately, then she says she "insisted" on giving her name. I am wondering if Margaret A came in with a chip on her shoulder and managed to spoil a potentially good business relationship from the git-go. I cannot imagine having to "insist" that Stasia do anything. She is a sweet, expert seamstress from Europe's old school. A treasure. A friend of mine just bought a jacket at a thrift shop that she needs altered. She's going to Stasia. We'll report back. Several other friends have told me they have been going to her for years. By the way, if parking "around the block" is something one considers awful, you might not want to shop in downtown Danville. We have only one strip mall, anchored by Trader Joe's. There is ample parking there all the time except during the 4th of July parade. There are two other large (free) lots on Railroad Ave., about 4 blocks from Stasia's. Most of us prefer the charm of a real downtown and lovely tradespeople like Stasia. read more

Stasia is the owner and tailor of her small shop. She is a master tailor that has an eye for exactly what needs to be fixed and how. I agree with the comments that her shop looks run down and unkempt; clearly tidiness isn't her area of expertise, but her ability to alter clothing to fit you perfectly is a gift. Stasia has done a lot of work for me over the years including alterations, sawing patches on boy scout vests, shirts and towels for my kids sports, and even fixing my boat cover when the straps tore off saving my from having to buy a new cover for over $600.
