I walked in and dropped off 3 pairs of dress pants to be hemmed. It was quite pricey at $28 a pant. The woman in front said it will take 2 weeks to finish the job and to call the day before to check if they are done. I called the day before (yesterday) and no answer and left a voicemail. Today was the ready by date. I went to pick up the pants around 9:45am they were not done and not even started on. The woman Sammy said to come back at 11 am but I said don't rush so she said come back around 1pm. I came back around 12:44pm since they close at 1pm. Pants were not done so she told me to come back in 20min. I walked around CVS and Luckys a bit then came back around 1:05pm and waited in the store another 25 minutes. So pants were done at 1:30pm, 30minutes after closing with me waiting in the store. The hemming was fine, though I don't know if they got two of the pant inseams a little longer than requested but I was so annoyed by all the waiting and going back and forth that I don't want to say anything or go back. Seems like they are short staffed and even regular customers are having delays also. I need to get my own sewing machine so I can do it myself instead. read more

I was given 3 weeks for the alterations and told to call before picking them up. When I called on the due date, they weren't ready. they hadn't even started! I was told to come back at close of business that same day, but they still weren't finished when I came. I ended up waiting a bunch. A total waste of my time. When I tried the garment on, it didn't look right. Maybe it was an impossible alteration or maybe it was extremely rushed--I don't know. She made a few more adjustments, but then handed it back without giving me a chance to try it on again. There was no apology, discount, or acknowledgment of the inconvenience. However I am forced to downgrade for timeliness as they seem to wait to last minute to finish the job. If you're in need of a great tailor, Sammy is it! Sammy has perfectly tailored about 12 pairs of my jeans now (with the original hem). You can't tell they were tailored AT ALL. The price was on the higher side ($36 per pair), but ultimately worth it to have a great pair of jeans! My husband has had multiple pairs of his LEO uniform pants tailored as well-- again, on the higher side ($96 per pair to tailor the waist and leg widths), but the work was perfect! So far, all of our items have been able to be picked up on time! No complaints here. read more

We had two dresses altered for my daughter's prom, and the experience was wonderful. She was invited to another school's prom that required a dress code with no sleeveless styles, so we needed to add ribbon straps to one of the dresses. For her second prom, she wore a special vintage piece -- the dress I wore to a fraternity formal back in 1995! Since it was originally too small for her, they added panels to the sides to make it fit, and it turned out beautifully. I am thankful that I live in the Bay Area. The weather, the green hills (for a short time during the year), the sceneries, the foods, and Made To Fit (or more accurately, Sammy, its owner)! I've been going to Made To Fit for at least five years now and I can tell you that this shop is very aptly named. I'm petite, so most of my nice clothes needed to be altered. Nice clothes usually come with a not so nice price tag, or come from far away places that require long haul flights. For those reasons, I only trust my nice clothes to Sammy - and I have never been disappointed. During all those years, I only asked Sammy to adjust her work once (Once! Even as I am writing this, I still can't believe it!). Other than that one time, she always got things perfect and right for me. People (actually only one person, but who's counting?) had told me I'm a sophisticated woman, to which I chuckled in response. I'd like to think of myself as stylish with a mix between classic and trendy. I got compliments for my outfits a lot - but I'm fully aware I can't be that stylish without Sammy. I brought in my clothes, had an idea and bounced it off of her. Other times, I let her tell me what needed to be done. I always agree with her because her counsel (yes, that's how highly I think of her opinions and advices) is always spot on. She is a great stylist herself, with an eye for details. Another time, another place, she could have been a designer - and can be if she wants to (I'm rooting for her - it's International Women's Da Sammy's bedside manner is as great as her skills and expertise. Because her shop is very popular and her work is sought after, there will be a wait. So if you want great results, please be patient and plan ahead. Because Sammy is worth it! Sammy is the sweetest lady ever! She got me in right away to get my dress altered and I didn't have to make an appointment. I was so worried about getting my wedding dress altered because it's a lot of less and could easily be messed up. As soon as I put it on Sammy knew exactly what to do and got straight to pinning. She made sure to communicate with me if she needed more time on the dress but it was still done well in advance before my wedding which worked out because I lost weight and needed it taken in more (which was no problem for Sammy)! I dropped two brand new blouses off for front darts adjustments, same blouse,different color,. They altered some things prior so was expecting normal good alterations. These blouses weren't needed urgently so I gave 2 weeks . She called 3x! to extend time another week or 2 weeks to do them. I allowed these because they weren't urgent and she told me all kinds of reasons for delays -mostly her main sewer was on long vacation...and I wanted to help her. I went to pick them up and one of the dart repairs was way off so she said she would fix it and to pick up next day. I checked the dart repair then and there was a hole, yes an actual visible hole !, at the top of the dart ! Blouse was very light pink and that part of the dart was right on the front chest! NO way to hide or fix that. She said she hadn't noticed it as she hadn't checked it before giving it to me. what?!!! I asked her for a refund for the work not done and refund for the blouse ($27), she refunded for work not done but not for the now ruined blouse. I realized she had been asking me for extensions because of our good rapport and thought she could get away with it, which she did. I asked her why she would ruin a great business relationship like that?!!! she didn't respond, just looked down and unengaged. I see another reviewer commented she would arrive to pick up her order to be told to come at 5pm-which also happened to me a couple times, before the blouse incident. I had a hard time finding places on yelp that had recent reviews for men's suit alterations. I ultimately decided to take a chance here based on reading how helpful Sammy, the owner, is. Those reviews were right! Her shop is also a nicely setup and professional alteration shop with full length mirrors. Sammy knew exactly what needed to be done and asked me questions throughout the process of what I thought and gave options and suggestions. She asked if I wanted a European or traditional cut on the suit, didn't know what that meant, and she showed me each option. She suggested other items that I didn't even think about as well to make sure I looked great in my wedding suit. Ultimately, I did 5 alterations on my 3 piece suit: jacket size reduction with European cut, jacket sleeve hem, vest size reduction, pant waist reduction, and pant leg hem. All these items ended up costing $217 which was surprisingly high, and the reason for the loss of a star. The most expensive items were the vest reduction and jacket size reduction/European cut both at about $60-$80 each. Regardless, I accepted knowing it would come out great. My suit fit perfectly!! I couldn't believe how well it fit even with the fitted/slim finish. I felt great in my wedding suit, it was a hit, and everything was well done. read more

tldr; I paid $28 for them to ruin a pair of pants when they should have explained that the pants wouldn't be wearable based on their limited skillset. Condescending - called me sweetie several times and doubled down instead of doing the right thing and refunding for a piss poor job. I really wanted to support this local business, but they completely disrespected my time and business. I dropped off two of my husband's work pants to see if they could be salvaged as one of them needed a zipper and another was developing small holes. They woman who came to the counter -- Sammy? -- she said they could fix those and I pointed out the areas where the pants needed reinforcement. She looked a little skeptical as to why I wanted those pants saved, but I had gone by all the reviews on Nextdoor that made her sound like an amazing seamstress. I've gotten clothes fixed and altered for years, so I decided to give her a chance at $28 per pair of pants. I was surprised at how long the job would take -- 3 weeks? OK, but they have a good reputation, so I will go with the flow. I came a few days later after the ready date on my receipt, but they were not ready. She asked me to come by in a few hours, but I didn't want her to rush, so I told her I'd come by the next day. And what I got was a smile and a total f*ck you job. If she couldn't salvage the pants, she should have been honest and told me. I don't care if a business is struggling in the pandemic - everyone is working hard for their money, and there is no excuse to take a job when she knew she'd produce a pair of pants that is not wearable. I asked her how these pants are even presentable - she called me sweetie several times and insisted that she'd told me she would use the zig zag stitch. Well, Sammy, you are the expert and describing what you'd be doing - not having the skillset to salvage the pants and just making ridiculous zigzag stitches - would have been the right thing to do instead of taking $28. I felt so deprioritized - she was doing 2 week jobs for other customers. My husband just laughed and shook his head when he saw his pants. Clearly Made to Fit have other loyal customers but for newcomers to Danville - think twice about giving them your money. Very expensive!!! In the past 3 years I have used Made To Fit countless times. I have noticed that their prices have gone up, but not just by a little. What would normally cost $100-$160 is now around $250. For the same type of alteration I now use B-Line cleaners on Hartz Ave. I can always expect the same amazing result time after time. read more

I took two dresses to be altered to Made To Fit. Owner, infomed us that one of their seamstressed had gone to Vietnam and they were behind on orders. She stated that my dresses wouldn't be ready for at least 3 weeks. I had my daughter stop by to pick them up a few days after the 3 week hold. However, they we not ready, she said she would get them ready in 24 hours. I called thank goodness this AM to check on the. Oh, I'm so sorry they're not ready due to "Home Coming" dresses. WTH. I told her that I paid for the alterations 3 plus weeks ago. Had I known they wouldn't be ready on the date I waited for I would have taken them elsewhere. Plus, she never called to inform me that they still were not ready. Very nice woman, but they lack good business sense. So disappointed with them and their lack of professionalism. I dropped my daughter's skirt off on May 30, 2022 to have the waist taken in. I was given a pick up date of June 22. Which was excessive. 23 days to take in a skirt! I waited until June 24 (2 days after the due date) to pick up the skirt. On June 24, the owner told me that the skirt was not done. She told me to come back at 5 PM on the same day. The store would be closed, she said, but she would be working in the back. Just call her and/or bang on the door and she would bring the skirt to me. I went back at 5 PM on June 24. I called her. No answer. I banged loudly on the door. No one would answer. I could see people in the back--they just ignored me. They were closed until June 27. I went on June 27 and picked up the skirt. So 1 month and 6 days to take a skirt in. 3 attempts at pickup. Were there any apologies or discount for the service? Nope. Take your business elsewhere! read more

Sammee is not only talented, she's hard working, perfectionistic and personable. I brought my wedding gown to her 2 weeks before our wedding. Great work on alterations, very friendly, but only 3 stars because my clothes were not ready on the pick up date (2 weeks). Good thing I called before heading over to pick them up or else it'll be a waste of time.
