Grilled chicken club, fries and gravy, ginger cilantro slaw at State and Main. So good!
    Nella D.

Really enjoyed this meal.. I had the grilled chicken club burger.. The bun was really soft and chicken was tender.. Big portion. The fries were really good.. The burger comes with 2 sides.. I picked fries and gravy and ginger cilantro slaw salad-- really fresh taste. To drink enjoyed Grasshopper by Big Rock Brewery.. My friend had the Bison Burger and was impressed. The space is nice.. Small tables for two though. Service was on point. Will definitely be back!

I had come here once before, with a couple friends, and one friends estranged friend. The second time around was a lot more comfortable, seeing as how I didn't have someone in my ear yammering on about anything to ruin the atmosphere. The service staff was nice, and relatively prompt. It was semi busy, and it took a while for someone to come up and take my order. I wasn't in a rush thankfully. They have everyday happy hour from 3-6, and have food AND drink. It's quite nice. The food itself was tasty, having the Korean chicken (which was 7 on the happy hour menu) and the east Asian bowl, (which was I believe 16) Also got a slider, which was 3$. I'll come back for sure.

Pretty good! Lots of variety with food and drinks. The butter chicken poutine was SO good.. The teriyaki chicken bowl was alright 3/5 and the french dip was really good 4.5/5. Environment and staff was great. Would love to try it again.

Ordered the main burger with mixed green salad and fries. I LOVE how the burgers come with TWO side choices. There are also premium choices like sweet potato fries but at an extra charge. Date choice the salmon club burger and she said it was really tasty. Her bacon was divine and I wish my burger had the bacon included too. The atmosphere is nice but its mainly for sports watching as all the many LCD tvs were tuned to sporting events. It is mainly black in colors and the staff all were black. Speaking of staff, service was good and was everything one could ask for. Food came out quick and the dishes were cleared quickly. Would come again! 4.5 stars

Been here twice for dinner, and both times I had a great experience. A variety of dishes to choose from: appetizers, burgers, sandwiches etc and they also have brunch menu utill 2pm (check their website. Most dishes are under $17 except for steak&main which are over $20. All the desserts (four options) are $5. They have menu and nutritional info as well). For most burgers and sandwiches, you get to choose 2 sides. LOVE their sides!! Side menu includes ginger cilantro slaw, green salad, caesar salad, fries, quinoa salad, and jalapeno mashed potatoes. And they all come in a good amount in a separate bowl. You also get gravy for mashed potatoes. I ordered a salmon burger when I first came here and a chicken club wrap and a dirt pie for the second visit. Lovely and fresh sides. Try their ginger cilantro slaw! It was packed with flavor. Great atmosphere. You can either sit at the bar or a dining area. Lots of TVs to watch games. The staff here is friendly and attentive. They've also got a spacious patio. Overall, definitely worth to check out if you are in the area.

    Gogi tacos, delicious!

State and main is definitely my go-to lunch spot. I usually start off with the calamari which are super light and crispy! For a main I either get the Cajun chicken sandwich and dill dip is a must! or the Gogi tacos which are pretty good. Service here is great, everyone is super friendly and accommodating. I've been coming here for about two years and I've never been disappointed with the food!

Came here today for the first time. I had The Main burger and my friend had the Carolina Pulled Pork. The service was excellent, friendly and fast. The food came out fresh and hot. We got to pick 2 sides to go with our meals. We chose the mixed greens (with suprise goat cheese, nice touch), the fries with dipping sauces( gravy and dill both delicious ) and the quinoa salad ( just OK, could be more flavorful). The burger patty seemed like a previously frozen formed style and smelled and tasted exactly like a McDonald's Angus patty. Don't get me wrong it was very good, makes me think they use the same meat supplier as McD's!? We both enjoyed our very filling meals. The price wasn't bad either... About $15.50 plus tax. I also think this place is a Canadian franchise, which is a plus in my books.

I went with a group. There were 7 of us. The tables are bolted to the floor. We had to sit at separate tables.

State & Main struggles with the concept of family dining. Situated five seconds from a subdivision you would think they would embrace it.

We were mistaken; there were no iPhone 3G(s) phones anywhere in Ontario -- could not get them for love nor money. We weren't about to purchase phones we didn't want, since we'd only qualify for the promotional price for the phones once, so we left unsatisfied. Found a pay-phone and called our new landlord, who met us at the house. After a walkthrough of our new premises, after settling the cats in with litter-box and water, after hastily unloading the car, we took our exhausted selves off to find someplace open for dinner at 9:30 at night. The shopping mall a couple of blocks from our house had a bar/grill called "Shoeless Joe's" that was open; the bar was crowded, so we opted to eat in the quiet dining room. Our waitress was pleasant, personable and efficient; she was also, apparently, being given a hard time by some drunkies in the bar next door (we overheard her conversing with the manager about refusing service to someone). Well, we weren't going to give anyone any trouble, tired and hungry as we were. I got the lobster fettuccine with tomato cream sauce; His Goatness got the meaty-meat platter with hickory smoked BBQ ribs and chicken wings with a smoked jalapeño honey sauce. We ordered the Sleeman's Honey Ale, which a friend of ours declaimed as her favorite beer -- it arrived in a can that was so plain and cheap-looking as to appear generic. The taste: flat as a pre-teen training bra. No complexity, no real flavor. What a disappointment! Dinner: late-night bar food chain standard, like what could be found in any Chile's or TGI Friday's. (HG liked his meaty-meat better than I liked my entree. What I tasted of the lobster suggested that it was better I not really taste it through the heavy sauce.) Still, I am grateful that they were open that late, and I always appreciate great service. Finally fed, our humor improved as we headed home to camp in our empty house...

I'd been excited to try this new location in Guelph for awhile now. I'm a cocktail lover + gin…read morelover. Based on their Instagram they'd worked out early opening kinks and were displaying some really cool cocktails. We arrived on a Friday night in August around 8pm. Seating upstairs in the restaurant was pretty full but there were one or two tables. We were a group of 5 and the hostess at the door seems VERY flustered. We later agreed that she must have been very new. She sat us in front of their front window (garage door style) that was open. It was a chilly night - like maybe 16 by this point. We asked if she could close the door. She said she would check. 5 minutes later, nothing. She cane back with waters and 1/2 the glasses were dirty. Then a waitress came over and we asked if we wanted drinks but we had not been given menus by hostess...ha so we asked for those. We then again if she could close the garage door and she said no. So we asked if we could be moved somewhere else. We were moved to a table meant for 4 but at least we were warm! We ordered drinks and they arrived very quickly- I was surprised at how quick. We ordered meals too...however, these took over and hour to come out. So that wasn't great- and what we ordered were not complicated (burger, charcuterie, fries...). I tried the Brussels which were just okay - the batter on them was weird. The charcuterie board at $22 was kind of boring g and lacked variety. Then our waiter once it was bill time disappeared. So we flagged down the hostess and she said she would get the machine and out bills....well that never happened. So another waitress walked by and we snagged her and settled up. We decided to head down to the speakeasy to check that out. It was much better. Everything was cheaper (cash only) and it was like chilling in a big basement with lots of old overstuffed couches. It was full when we first went down at 10:30 but within 15 it was nearly empty. Very chill and a good winter hangout. Two tips : cash only and the password changes weekly and is on their Instagram (however we were not asked for it)

My daughter loves their burgers which are made from beef they grind themselves, so you can have it cooked to whichever doneness you want, even rare. I want to give them particular kudos for my visit last night when I showed up at about 9:15 and told them that about 9 of my friends would be joining me. They quickly put some tables together and got me a drink. When my friends started arriving it turned out that there were more like 20 of us. They added more tables and quickly got drinks going. The food took as long as you would expect for a table of 20, not a moment longer. Everyone's food came out at the same time, hot and delicious. I had the grilled halibut which was super fresh and beautifully prepared. Everyone in our party commented positively on the dishes they ordered. That must be an incredibly well-run kitchen. Thanks Gin Mill for a lovely after-event evening. One suggestion: an espresso machine or at least coffee and tea.
