I saw the prior reviews of this place, so I wasn't expecting much when I walked in. Given Utah only has 40-something official liquor stores, I wasn't sure what I was getting into. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of whiskies. I was able to grab a mid-range bottle of bourbon for a reasonable price for the area. It maybe cost $5 more than the average price I would pay for the same bottle where I live (Kansas City). We also got 4 cans of different hazy and milkshake IPAs (cans can be sold as singles). While the beer selection isn't huge, they do have quite a number of local beers. The assistant manager rang us up, and he was polite. I did not have any issues or feel like any of the employees were being rude. I would definitely come back here when looking for wine or spirits, as their selection of these is definitely bigger than their beer area. read more

I lived in Utah for several years, so the liquor laws are not a surprise here. Some folks seem to be commenting on that more than the place itself. You CAN buy alcohol in Utah, not having to resort to driving to next county as in some other states. I get it, . . . can be inconvenient. The ID process is a scan of your state ID via barcode, not clear how easy that would be to fake . . . (aside) Price is what it is - all restaurants will be more (obviously). Beer at grocery stores will typically be lower alcohol percentage - prices are not necessarily comparable (gotta do some label reading). Out of all the liquor stores in Park City (there are 3 ... the other two are closer to Kimball Junction and/or Downtown respectively), this is the largest State liquor store and thus stocks the most volume and variety of liquor. Mostly, we were looking for beers, and were surprised to find they stocked some pretty high end offerings. They had many trappist beers from Belgium as well as local brews and specialty Sam Adams offerings. For a state that limits its beers in bars to 3.2%, it sure does not reflect in the liquor stores. The prices were definitely a bit more, but considering the tax is lower (4.75%) and these are harder to find even in a state with normal liquor laws, I didn't mind too much. They even had a great selection of rare whiskeys and scotches, much to the delight of my group mates. The staff is friendly and during Sundance you will OFTEN find celebrities here because they have to come here to buy liquor just like everyone else :). Hello Julian McMahon! Compared to all other beer wine and liquor stores in Park City, the Post office looking State liquor store wins by a landslide. We first tried a few other stores including Whole Foods, but as you will see and read in other reviews, they do not sell over 4% alcohol by volume- however, the state store does. We got 10.5% here among other high content brews. They have a large selection. There is a lot of local beer like Uinta, Epic, Squatters and Wasatch but they also have Chimay, Rougue and Sam Adams for example. You can find this location in the strip mall with a place called "the market" behind the Squatters Roadhouse. The Squatters restaurant could not sell us a bottle of beer but our wonderful waitress Misty recommended we go here. She is an angel. read more

I was leery about going after the reviews I read, but alas in Utah there are few options for a bottle of wine. The selection was good, the store was uncrowded and clean, and the cashier was very polite and sweet. Maybe they got new blood... Prices were more reasonable than I had anticipated also. The cashiers are horrible! If I could give it zero stars I would. If you want to be called an alcoholic by the cashiers then go here. We came in to buy several types of beers for my boyfriend's beer ranking club. We were buying beers to be shared amongst 6 adults. The cashier dropped two of the somewhat pricey beers. My boyfriend asked if he could exchange them for ones that won't explode when he opens them. I recommend reporting this place to the DABC for not scanning in allocated bottles and hiding them in the back. I've waited outside 10-15 minutes before opening on allocation/truck days, just for the employees to be condescending and rude to me for asking about a bottle that it shows their location should have received on their truck. If you wait around long enough (30-45 minutes after opening) you will see them giving the bottles they said they didn't have, to someone else. I'm assuming their friends/family or someone giving them some sort of kick-back. When this has happened and they know we saw them doing that, we then ask again and they get pissed and go in the back to get it. Then when checking out they have to enter it in because the product was never scanned in to inventory. Hence why their online site never shows they have it in stock. Because they don't scan in their allocated bottles or at least that's been the case every single time we've gone there on allocation/truck days. Given that these are heavily sought after bottles that the employees are HIDING makes me think THEY ARE the ones reselling them + ruining it for the people that just want to buy a bottle to enjoy. The older lady with tattoos and the older lady with a blonde bob are two of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Immediately condescending, rolling their eyes and acting completely "put out" when asking for a specific bottle. They tell you "look on our website, it doesn't show we have it" then you see them handing out said bottle to someone else. Or they say "we sold the last one yesterday" which is odd when we came in yesterday and the day before at opening and they said they didn't have that bottle they swore they sold the last of... They know where the bottles are in the back, why aren't they scanning them and putting them out in the case. That's the most shady shit ever. Along with the attitude that's attached when asking for the bottle. Very confused how a state liquor store would employ such rude and shady staff. We just want to purchase the items they sell and they won't even let us do that because they are busy hiding it and making you feel like an asshole for even asking for it.. read more

These people were so freaking rude! We hadn't even stepped inside the building yet before the cashier rudely pointed and yelled at our friend "you have to wear a mask to come inside!!" He just forgot his mask... so he went back out to his car to grab it and I could hear the cashier trashing talking our friend with a customer saying "It's posted everywhere" (which it's not, by the way) and then when we were checking out the lady rudely asked my mom for her ID. This store has the rudest cashier I have ever encountered. She yelled at me for not standing in the right line, although the store is poorly marked, berated me for not placing each bottle individually on the cashier stand, and told me I had a bad attitude. She has dyed blond hair and a tattoo along her right arm from wrist to elbow, so avoid her if possible, although judging from other Yelp reviews of this store, other sales help are just as bad. We will definitely seek out other liquor stores in the area, although since wine is only sold in state-run stores, there aren't many options. The selection was pretty good, but not great. read more

I have been out of wine since COVID-19 hit. What has been preventing me from getting more is how crazy the local liquor stores are. I just don't feel comfortable with tons of people roaming around. Lucky for us, we have now found a less crowded option. We decided to do a scenic drive to Park City this past weekend and came across this liquor store by chance. Luckily, it was extremely empty on a Saturday afternoon. The prices were very reasonable too. We got some 14 Hands and Chateau Ste. Michelle wines. We also picked up some Monkey Shoulder. Get your beer, wine, and booze elsewhere! Some of the rudest people, least friendly people I've ever come across. They were incredibly condescending to my mother when she asked a simple question about ciders, threw an utter fit when her card was denied (because we spent $1500!) and we had to call our company to have it verified (like it hasn't happened to everyone at least once in their lives), and the taller grey haired man who seemed to be a manager of some sort said a number of discriminatory things based on our drivers licenses. The first thing you should know is this-the reviews that knock them for price, selection, and other factors should know it's not their call. Utah is a whacky, whacky state that has vice-tight liquor laws. You're not allowed to refrigerate anything in their liquor stores, they drive up the price, and they're not open on Sundays. These silly laws extend beyond the liquor store-you can only get 3.2 beer at the grocery store, and get this-if you go to a sports bar, say, TGI Fridays for a beer, you HAVE to order food or they won't serve you. You also have to completely finish a beer before you can order another. Now that you know that, know that this is the best liquor store in the state. It's by far the biggest, and it's also got a great selection of craft beers, wine, and liquors. If you're staying in Park City and need to stock up, look no further. Just remember to plan so that you can chill your beer first. read more

Spent 353.18 on 3 btls of wine. The 91 Rioja I bought was corked!!! Exchanged the btl 3x's before the "manager" agreed to give me a store credit. 1st - I tried explaining to the assistant's assistant manager that the color of the juice was translucent and that you can completely see thru the bottle when you put it up to the light. I even explained to her manager side by side with a California bottle. 2nd - @our rental house, the cork soaked thru all the way. Driving back is 20 mins. Pain in arse 3rd - tasted like mold/wet newspapers. 15 mins later I re-tasted and was derthly rancid. We did this 3x. I went on the manager's "day off" to return the bottle and we politely asked to see if we could get store credit, because I had studied the bottles they had in inventory, I did NOT feel comfortable with the "clearness" of the wine (no opaque-ness in bottle). Long story short, blonde lady (assistant's assistant manager) scolded me for not reading the sign @the cash register. Wine sales final...blah blah blah. I was calm and cool the whole time. I called her out on it later...just a bad experience altogether. I'll give them 2-1/2 stars for this. And the 1/2 star is for "allowing" to have store credit after the 4th visit to the store. The manager, or senior person @corporate knows nothing about wine. He told me the color diminishes in the bottle. Especially with aged bottles. Who the heck does he think he is? Lesson to take from this. Do not buy their "Suzanna's Private Selection" or whatever the hell "Fine Wine" they call it. It isn't temperature controlled. If you have a corked bottle, their sole obligation is to "exchange" the bottle. Just be calm, but persistent AND firm if anything happens. It's a state run operation. I was NOT happy to learn that in Utah you can only buy wine at their state liquor store. However, upon entering I was a kid in a candy store. They have such a great selection!!! I am a huge fan of Argentine Malbec's and this place had all of my favorites, plus a large selection of ones I had yet to try. Just had terrible customer service and I'm in the wine business. They looked at me like I was stupid when I told them things they should have already known such as what corked wine was and how often it happens. I even offered to give them a free class when they decided to be an ass about the return. Also price gauging is obvious, but it is a tourist area. We spent over a grand here for our ski trip and was told to basically pull my own case of prosecco. In my business customer service is number one and your customer is good as gold. Wow this place is terrible. To be nice we asked the manager if we should shop at the grocery store first or liquor store because we knew we were using a shuttle and didn't want to bother them with a bunch of bags or a cart in store. He said "if you just bought new shoes would you wear them in here?? Yes so why couldn't you bring your bags?" So we said ok and went to the grocery store first. After shopping at the market next door, come back with the cart aNd start shopping. The same manager comes over take cart with groceries and purse and says you can't have this in here and takes cart to front and leaves it there. This is when we comment "ok well we asked and you were fairly rude about it but told us a story about new shoes and why we would obviously bring our cart in with us." Just looking for some help. Then say "sorry we are just used to the friendliness of Colorado I guess." In which the old man "manager" says " oh well I guess it's from all the mArijuAna in Colorado that must be why they are nice" umm no sir your stereotypes don't work here. Why treat people that are spending a few hundred bucks in your store like that?? I just left this location with my mom. We were turned away because I did not have my id but I am over 21. I specifically looked at all the signs on the front door when we entered because I am from out of state and knew Utah had different/stricter alcohol laws. There was no sign saying that I couldn't be in there without my ID. I did not attempt to purchase any liquor because I didn't have my ID. The sign outside clearly stated no one under age was allowed to enter unless with a parent or spouse of legal age (I was with my mom so thought it was ok). We were turned away from purchasing regardless of the lack of appropriate signage indicating this. My mother wasn't allowed to purchase any alcohol due to me not having an ID even though there was no sign saying I needed it to be in the store. The manager, Eva, came over and was very rude about the situation even after we explained we are from out of state and didn't know the laws. I told her there was no sign stating that I couldn't be in there without an ID and I actually had to walk out of the store and show her she was wrong!! She obviously didn't care about customer service or having the $60 sale we would have had. We will never return to this store and hope others don't either!! There was no reason to be rude about the situation and even if you couldn't sell the alcohol, there could have been more respect shown for the customers who weren't aware of the laws. I wasn't trying to argue with the manager, I just was trying to explain that the law/rule wasn't clear on the front door and if an ID was required for entry then there should be an employee at the door checking IDs. I hope that the manager on duty (Eva) will be terminated due to her behavior. I also see another review where it states a manager was racist and the description of the manager in that review (mid 50s, dirty blonde hair) was exactly the same as the manager we dealt with!
