We came here for our anniversary dinner and had a good experience. The wait staff was amazing along with their cocktails, martinis are wonderful. The food we had was hit or miss. The chicken wings were not good, the bacon wrapped meatloaf was yummy, hamburger was fantastic, and the chicken vindaloo was definitely a miss. Heard this was a good place for breakfast. Actually it was the worst breakfast i ever had. Ordered eggs Benedict. Barely any holindaise sauce, eggs were watery, way too much ham and English muffins were soggy. The home fries that came with my meal were cold. I told the waitress and didn't ask for but she brought me a new order. Still cold! Overpriced for awful breakfast. Stop trying to be fancy and get some good cooks who can serve better breakfasts. read more

We love their brunch! Only downside is you absolutely need to call for reservations ahead, or you will end up waiting. it usually takes some time before you're served, even with reservations. Also their coffee is terrible. Mimosas and Bloody Marys, however, are delicious, as is the food! Menus is constantly changing with the season, so there is always something new! Not into brunch? I just had an amazing meal here. I didn't think I was that hungry. The meat loaf sounded amazing. So I ordered it anyway. The food is definitely some of the best in the area. The outdoor seating is great,be sure to make a reservation though. The fries do not come with the burgers. But the burgers are excellent as are the fries.never had a bad meal here. Although it wasn't super busy at lunch ,last time it took almost 2 hrs there. I've been here twice now and loved it both times! It has a modern and cool vibe to it, which is refreshing to this area. I think sitting on the patio if it's nice outside is a big part of the State Street Grill experience! The only negative is that you may be waiting awhile - we waited about 45+ minutes on a Thursday evening. Recently I tried the fig and proscuitto flatbread which was a bit out of my comfort zone, but very delicious and different! I had the apple salad for lunch about a year ago, and have been thinking about it ever since! :) Haven't tried the cocktails yet but the menu looks super cool and different. Had lunch here and we really enjoyed it. We had a party of 5 . Waiter was very attentive. We sat on the patio, it was very nice. Really like the atmosphere, it's very pleasant except for the big trucks passing by. The hummas appetizer was OK, The beet salad was good. The strawberry salad was excellent. 2 in our party had the special CrabCake wrap and it was very good. The carrot cake was moist and exceptionally good. So glad we chose this place for lunch. The food is fantastic, the space is cramped, and many of the bar customers are rude as hell. I'll go over the negatives first. Space - The space is really cramped, even more so on a busy night. The problem here is the use of the space, the hostess stand is at the back of the restaurant past the usually over crowded bar, so even if you have a reservation you have to traverse the drunken bar crowd in order to be seated. The other con (or pro if you don't have a reservation) of the hostess placement is oftentimes you can walk in and take any open table unnoticed. I've done this a few times myself. People - The restaurant has no control over the attitudes of the people who live in the area so this is not so much a strike against them but a heads up to any would-be diners out there. The people absolutely suck. Exhibit A: I was sat at a high top near the bar one evening and the amount of people who hit me with elbows and purses was staggering, not one of them ever said excuse me or sorry, it was like I was just an inanimate fixture. Exhibit B: Valentine's Day evening the bar was packed with singles and divorcées glaring at every happy couple who walked in the door, typical NEPA attitude though, try to ruin someone else's good time because you're miserable. Food - The food is absolutely spectacular and makes up for the cramped space and miserable bar goers. Always get the Spring Roll of the day and don't be afraid to try anything on the menu or any of the specials. The bar is sufficiently stocked with craft beer, Bourbon, and Scotch and the bar tenders make excellent cocktails. The lunch menu and weekend brunch menus are also fantastic, so don't limit yourself to dinner! This place is the best restaurant in NEPA, hands down. read more

Came to this restaurant with a friend because we had a gift card. Upon walking in I was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere! It is a beautiful, cosy and relaxing place to eat. I highly enjoyed the industrial feel, with exposed lighting, stone wall and interesting decorations. The staff was pleasant but not overly helpful. Our drinks were empty most of the time and we waiting a long time for food and for the check once we were done. The food was average all the way around. I was not over excited about anything I ordered. I would not recommend the Dana Doughknots. I was patiently and excitedly waiting for them, but upon their arrival, they were highly overcooked and they were not very sweet. The best part of the lunch was the spicy mayo! I probably wouldn't make the trip again. I would suggest trying this place out for yourself though! read more

Food and service is phenomenal. However, the bartender was probably one of the most UNPLEASANT people I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. She was not very friendly and very short. Even just how she talked made me feel as though I did something wrong and she was mad at me. I'm not sure if she was a manager or bartender but I'm assuming manager because of the way she talked to her employees. I almost felt Bad for the employees because she was so nasty to them. This place packs you in like sardines,makes you wait 90 minutes for a burger and serves it cold.

Decided to stop in tonight which was a Saturday around 8pm. We called ahead for reservations but unfortunately they don't accept reservations for the patio area. We were told our wait time would be about an hour. No problem but there seemed to be a few empty tables. After about 10 minutes the hostess said our table was ready. Our waitress was friendly which is where my one star comes from, otherwise I would give zero stars if I could. We ordered a shrimp flatbread appetizer. My girlfriend ordered crab cakes and I ordered an oscar burger. It took over 20 minutes for the flatbread. We were never given utensils, napkins or plates. So after about 10 minutes our waitress finally came back to check on us. She asked why we didn't eat the flatbread and we explained we didn't get any utensils or plates. By that time the food was cold. She apologized and took the food to have it reheated. It arrived back hot and it was pretty good. Not long after the entrees arrived. The crab cakes were literally ONE bite each. There were three on the plate with a spoon of mango underneath. I understand this was a "small plate" but this was a joke especially for more than $12. My girlfriend said they were tasty. I can't say the same for my burger. I ordered it medium rare. What I got was a very well done burger. HOW can any chef or cook mess up a burger? That says a lot about a restaurant when they can't even cook a burger to the proper temperature. Needless to say I sent it back. The waitress said she had no problem doing so but it would take about 30 minutes for a new burger. At this point I was starving and my girlfriend was nearly finished with her three little bites of crab cake so I said no thanks and I didn't want anything else. The waitress was very nice about it. She ended up comping both our meals which was a nice gesture but something I would expect after my experience. I don't expect to go back unless it was just for drinks. read more

My son and I were on our way to Scranton, and happened upon this gem. My son ordered an omelette that was on special, and I selected the SSG burger, both off of the Brunch Menu. My son is a finicky eater, and absolutely loved his dish.. The SSG burger, was honestly one of the best burgers I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, and a little decadent, with its onion bacon jam, crispy jalapenos, pepper jack cheese and chipotle ranch sauce. You would be remiss to drive by this place and not stop in. Don't even bother making a reservation here, you'll show up and it will be no where in their records. This happened to us for the SECOND time this past weekend. 8 of my girlfriends and I made reservations for an igloo in December, even had the confirmation email from opentable showing we reserved the igloo... got there and they overbooked the igloos so we never got one. Had reservations for brunch for the igloo for 8 of my friends this past weekend, called and spoke to them to make the reservation this time and explained what happened last time so they ASSURED me I would have the igloo this time. Showed up and no record that I even had called to make a reservation. Management was nice through the whole thing but that does not excuse the lack of management skills and professionalism for this to happen TWICE to the same people. Not to mention both times at least 4 people in our party left with terrible stomach aches and got sick to our stomachs all night once we got home. Needless to say we will not be back here for both the lack of organization and poor quality of food. read more

We love our beer and SSG has quite a variety of beers on tap as well as domestic, imports and seasonal selections. The problem is that they don't have an adequate cooler for their bottled beer. Even upon request to "dig for a cold one" it is mediocre at best. I like my beer cold and they can't seem to get this rather simple concept right. Go with the tap. The nachos are fabulous. Dinner prices outrageous. High rent district. Tommy, find your own building. Stop improving your landlord's investment. We will follow you!!!! Build it and we will come. read more

State Street has good food with a very modern feel. Great place. With that being said the reason I do not go there is because for some reason people who are social butterflies and obsessed with imagery find the need to flock to that restaurant like it is a shelter. Every time I pass by I always see snooty people walking down the sidewalk basically looking for a valet attendant. The patio in the font is always filled with people who seem to think that they are dining in a remodeled factory restaurant in New York City. Those needy and obnoxious people sit on the patio because they need to be seen by everyone passing by. That is how they get their fix for attention and recognition. Not my cup of tea simply because I cannot stand the artificial and barely alive humans who occupy State Street. read more

We live pretty close to this place, so it has become one of our "go to" restaurants after moving here this past summer. They have a nice draft selection (8-10 i think), but personally I'd like to see them expand the number or dedicate more taps to craft beer (and get rid of blue moon, stella, etc; they almost always have stone IPA or racer 5, huge plus IMHO). The food is solid, and can range from simple, well done bar fare (pizzas, burgers) to all out dinners. This place is great for brunch too, and the bloody mary menu is fantastic. The prices are relatively reasonable depending on what you order. The patio is great in the summer (minus all the semi trucks barrelling down the road), and the inside is well decorated and clean. Would recommend this place in a heartbeat. read more

It seemed like Clarks Summit was a food desert until we happened upon State Street Grill. Great beer selection, and the waitperson, Alyssa was awesome, both in describing the beers, and taking care of our every wish. The menu was great, with a taste of something for everyone. It was more like eating in an upscale California restaurant, catering to foodies who don't want a typical small town meal. But by saying foodie, I'm not saying snobby, I'm saying the food was fresh, well prepared and creative without being ridiculously fussy. Try the sweet potato fries with the sirarcha honey dipping sauce! And the pretzels were awesome, as was the fish dish of the day, and the red and golden roasted beet salad. Our table mate loved the veal and beef meatballs. But the star of the meal was the crabcake appetizer on a spicy and sweet sauce. As a native Baltimorean now living on the West Coast, I am very picky about my crabcakes, and this one ranked high in my favorite non-classics. We were thrilled to find this fine restaurant, with great atmosphere, good waitstaff, and reasonable prices during our short stay in Clarks Summit. I only regret that we had to leave before trying it again. read more
