Potential clients need to be aware of working with this company We had a horrible experience with Exquisite. 1. Poor communication - they didnt respect our time. told us multiple times they would be at our house in one hour and then would call 3 hours later saying they couldn't make the appointment. then we would have to follow-up to reschedule. 2. Subs - several of their subs were unprofessional and disparaged the owners while on the job site. 3. Quality - miscut stone and then tried to convince us that it was ok and told us about other imperfections in our house....or to "Cover up the mistake with a plant" lol. When we asked for the stone to be replaced at their cost, they said it was too late and that they would provide a discount instead. They do not value quality or service. 4. While we were negotiating a final price (based on contractor error) they filed a lien on our property.... before the work was even complete. Horrible ethics. After payment in full, still didnt complete the work. and we do not want them to come back in our home after this experience. I highly recommend finding a reputable contractor to work with on your renovation.

Six hour into the removal I asked; What are you guys doing and how long is this going to take? (note it would take them 4 days at this rate) I called the company about it and received no answer, called the Forman got no answer and I could not communicate with the workers because of a language issue. With that said I gave them my power tool to do the job they removed the tile in 6 hours yet left the cement board attached. Asked the company about the cement board and if they can tile over. They said NO. Then I asked for quotes on the tile. Flash forward 12 Days, got the quote and it was extremely high so I decided to not do it. AT that point I asked them since the demo included cement board and I rented the guys my tools so What is the new price? Considering that the company breached the contract I offered them a fair price to compensate the work completed, he replied with NO you pay me $2350 or I will sue you. Going as far to tell me it cost them 1000$ of garbage. During the whole process the quote was shady (done over text) , work was shady and incomplete and most important communication was AWFUL!!!!! I would completely avoid them unless you prepare yourself to get taken advantage, have awful communication and have mid to lower level work done.

Then Erika sent me a text saying I needed to pay $300, then when I spoke on the phone with her she said I would need to pay half the full cost, which was $500. I had no problem paying half, but it felt shady that the price kept changing. When I brought up how the price changed, Erika told me it was because I changed my mind on having them create the entire table. I reminded her that I was only getting the table top done because she said she didn't have a carpenter that could create a wood base for the table so I would have to go with a heavy iron base they provide that I didn't want and pay $5000 for the privilege. She then told me quite rudely to take my business elsewhere. Mind you, the logs have been cut down and are sitting with tree guys. Not to mention, I'm in Hawaii on vacation with a child and wife who have tested positive for Covid. Erika did not care. She was rude and mean, didn't care one bit about my business or my predicament. Bottomline, Horigan doesn't have much competition in Northern Chicago so they treat customers like crap. I emailed one of their employee's named Sherry DeMatteis in an attempt to schedule a meeting to see their showroom (required by North Star Stone per their website). We agreed upon a date and time to meet. When I showed up for the scheduled meeting, Sherry had the date incorrect and nearly turned us away after driving an hour to get there! The NEW owner overheard our conversation and even though he was leaving for the day, met with us quickly (Shaunak Ahuja). He was very brief, and was teaching Sherry during our meeting as she was taking notes and asking questions to the newer owner. They kept referencing how the previous owner had left the business unexpectedly. The NEW owner ghosted us by never responding for months. I tried to place an order, but simply can't, and now with all this time that has lapsed with lack of response, I no longer wanted to. Our original meeting was held before school started for my children in August! Over four months with NO PROGRESS. Very frustrating and now we have to start over. He has told me continually that he would send a contract, but no contract has been sent. I was hoping to update my review with a better and more positive response from the Owner and company, but unfortunately the facts are what they are. If this is how they handle customer service before and after placing an order, what happens when/if something goes wrong after the orders placed? Or installation? In August 2021 we signed a contract with Lotz Custom Carpentry/Pro Edge Painting to repaint the…read moreoutside of our house and the contract included complete caulk replacement and expected damaged wood replacement costs.    When work began in October Lotz Custom Carpentry "found" $6200 in additional damaged wood that was not detected during the estimate.  As we were expecting a flawless job we agreed to the additional charges.  In the final inspection in December, during which the owner Brian Lotz attended, it was agreed that the caulking that was done on the entire house was far less than their usual quality and agreed final payment would not be made until they came back in the spring to complete the agreed upon work correctly. Before they could return in the spring, sheets of paint started falling off the house.  Some pieces that came off were the size of a dinner plate. During the summer of 2022, after much back and forth, we were informed by Lotz Custom Carpentry that no repairs to their defective paint job would be completed until they received the final payment.   Considering the quality of the work to date we were not comfortable with making that agreement and expected either more than just repairs or a longer warranty considering the brand new paint application had not even lasted 3 months before starting to peel.   In August, we received a final letter from Lotz Custom Carpentry informing us they were walking away from the project and threatened legal action if we commented negatively about their work.   An incompetent job could have been repaired.  But an incompetent company and incompetent owner has left us having been charged almost $20,000 in painting and carpentry and left us with a disaster that we are still dealing with to this day.

Follow-up wasn't great. Pool went in at the end of fall. Workers through a tarp on a left dirt and rocks for the spring. I had to call several times for them to come open it, then they workers complained about how the pool was left. Eventually it got done but a sticky residue was left at the water line. They sent someone out to clean it but he gave up and said it would wear off. They are also some minor scratches I asked about but the office manager ignored my email. Also when using a chalk line to mark out the cover mounting holes in the concrete they used red chalk which is permanent. Blue chalk washes off. Now I have a faint red line around my pool. No one ever explained how to run or operate the system. I had to figure it out myself. Basically, good initial work but no follow-up. Once they get your money they are done.
