Beware of this place of business. So I had Home Depot replace all carpet John boys put in 5-6 years ago. Installer said cheap pad, cheap carpet. John boy carpet. Issues that John sales guy Steve said, give me $1,509 more dollars and we will fix it. Okay. Time will tell. Home Depot guys done. I'm glad it's done, done with no bumps / rolling carpet, and collapsed edges. Where's dad, Tommy ? This shit should have been solved years ago. Needed new kitchen floor. Very painless process. Scott came to my home gave Estimate. I went to showroom to pick materials, paid 75% down, material was ordered delivered 1.5 weeks later to acclimate and installed 2 days later. Total time 2 weeks. So irate. Kept getting the runaround and would not give us an install date, only a 'production date' which is useless as a buyer because we are trying to plan around an INSTALL. We don't really give a rip when the carpet is going to be manufactured. 5 weeks after they had our deposit, still getting pushed back timing-wise. Its not like we can tell the movers to hold our furniture for days on end or keep asking for different days off from work to have this done. Huge hassle as we are from out of state and we can't move in until we have the carpet installed. Ultimately canncelled after wasting 5 WEEKS WITH THESE PEOPLE. AVOID unless you dont care when the carpet will show up. And plan for at least 6 weeks lead-time from this place..maybe that is typical as I don't buy carpet that often but we were led to believe about 3 weeks timing. Look at the other unflattering reviews here: all have the same complaint: Excessive lead time to install. We thought going to an independent place would be more helpful and we also wanted to patronize a local business in our new town. FAIL. So now we are starting over. Thanks for a complete waste of our time. If your suppliers are the ones dropping the ball, time to drop those suppliers if the end result is reviews like this one. Probably fine if you need an unusual color and are in no hurry for an install. If youre moving into a new house, however, this might not be the place for you. called Empire wednesday after we cancelled with you, salesman showed up thursday, carpet installed friday. not the color we wanted but after 5 weeks and no end in sight, what choice did we have? I purchased bathroom tiles and luxury vinyl flooring. We had our own installers. Steve, our salesman, spent a lot of time with me when I was trying to pick the tile and flooring. Biggest problem I have is they do not accept returns on anything less than 4 complete boxes! Most stores will accept one complete box of tiling or flooring. That was a big disappointment to me. read more

I came here quite a while back to get a quote and it was okay. I found it cheaper at other places and more expensive also. So Iskalis was right in the middle. But their quote on hardwood installation was outrageous. I got my hardwood bought and installed for less than half of their quote and got 3/4" hard wood vs engineered wood which is what they were going to use to keep costs down. I chose to go with another company and all my floors look great. However, I return to iskalis today to get a scrap 2' x 3' piece of carpet that a lady said they were throwing away or said they have samples I can get for $1-2. Then when I get there he tries to sell me a very low quality 50¢ sq/ft carpet one of the guys said they were returning. He says he can cut it out in the size I needed and he tries to sell it to me for more than $20. I can go to any carpet store, Menards or Home Depot and get cheap carpet per sq/ft for under $10 for that size. I just went to hobo and bought a $5 4x6 mat and cut it down. I will never shop or recommend this place again after today. And I am putting this review on all the review places I can find so people know about this place. I recently worked with Iskalis on a project take out 5 rooms of old carpet, install 3 rooms of new carpet, install 2 rooms of new hardwood flooring, and to sand & refinish 2 other rooms existing hardwood. This went as smoothly as a project like this can go. All of the installers were great, very professional, answered all our questions, etc. Iskalis also did a great job of coordinating the work, first doing the carpet and then the hardwood work. The results are beautiful, we are very happy. A special shout-out to our salesman Scot & Warehouse manager Mark; they were both very helpful throughout the project. I will certainly use Iskalis again for future work and I recommend them to anyone looking for carpet and/or hardwood flooring. read more

Selection and quality seems good. However, the service is terrible! They don't stand by their installers work. I purchased carpet, including installation from them and the installer didn't tack down all of the carpet during the installation. When I discovered this 3 months later, I told the salesman (Robert) and he said he didn't believe that it wasn't tacked down because he didn't see it. He said they wouldn't give me a credit towards future work or send someone to re-tack it down without a fee. The funny thing is that I was going to use them to carpet my entire upstairs and now they have lost me as a customer over a coulple hundred bucks. Beware of this company! read more

In 2008 we had Iskalis American Floor show install hard wood (Brazillian Cherry) in our main floor and the job was perfect. Measured, cut, and installed perfectly. It's been 5 years and still people compliment on how great the floors look. True, we do keep them clean but the quality of the product and work is excellent and it shows. So, when we bought a second home (A lake home) that needed all the floors replaced, we went to Iskalis. We checked out a few other businesses but ended up going with Iskalis based on past experiences, prices, and their flexibility. We chose tile for some parts of the home and carpet for others. Well, this was an older home (1957) and there were spots on the floor that were a bit uneven. The whole house had glued down tile that we had removed ourselves. It was believed that this fast drying patch concrete substance would help even out the floor. Well, it was not as fast drying as it should be and it was just not working. The carpet went down fine and without any problems. It just the few room where we were putting down tile that had the issues. Iskalis didn't screw around. They went out the next day, got plywood underlayment, and installed that to the entire floor in the rooms where the tile was to be. One that was down, they installed the tile over it. The install did take a day longer than expected but, the crew stayed late and did what they had to in order to finish the job and make it look good.. Iskalis was very customer oriented and we even spoke with John to praise his firm and his crew on how well it all looked when done, despite the cement filler stuff that for whatever reason, just was not working as we had hoped. To be fair, we have talked to 2 other flooring companies and each had recommended this fast drying cement patching product and I suspect it would not have worked for them either. The tile looks great and so does the carpet. It's amazing what a difference a nice looking floor makes. i would recommend Iskalis to everyone and plan on using them again. Our main home will be needing some carpets replaced upstairs soon and we'll be calling on Iskalis to do the work. read more

I have had so much trouble with people working in my house! I received three quotes to do my master bedroom a few years ago. They were hundreds of dollars cheaper so I went with them. They moved furniture carefully, were polite, and cleaned up great! I have since done three more rooms and a kitchen tile project with them. The last room was done last week and they came quickly, worked around my schedule. They stand by their work and products. I normally don't take the time to write but they deserve it. read more

I will give this store credit for its selection, product knowledge and price. The installer was also great and did a nice job. But beware, you get what you pay for. Overall this was a horrible shopping experience. The sales staff will not follow up on anything they promise to do. The installation will take longer than they promise and they don't care and won't do anything about it. This store over ordered product which they stuck us with and won't admit they are wrong or compensate the customer for any of their mistakes. The owner of the store even got into a loud, verbal argument with my wife in the store. If the owner is willing to verbally abuse a customer in the store in front of his staff there is no reason to do business there or recommend it to anyone. There are plenty of flooring store options in the Gurnee area, I would recommend you use any of those stores before this place. read more

I strongly suggest shopping elsewhere. After spending over an hour picking out 3 different carpets for my second floor, I call to order them and the salesman (Rob) hadn't written any of my choices down. That should have been the clue that service was not very good. The installers did not work methodically. They were very messy. They got carpeting dirty that the same guys installed last week. They didn't put furniture back in the correct places. None of the furniture is near the wall. They did not rehang the bathroom door they removed. They vacuumed the carpeting they installed today, but left scraps in the rooms where they installed carpeting last week. There are also shreds of carpeting in my garage, driveway, front porch and front hall (hardwood floors). And they took forever. And Rob called me the day before my installation to ask me how I like my new carpeting. He saw the charge on my credit card. That means they're charging before they're supposed to be charging! Saying this experience was horrible is not too strong. I wish I could leave ZERO starts. read more

I have bought a lot of things that I have had installed through the years and have a lot of experience. But this store is more than willing to take the time to work with you (even if it takes time)... they want YOU to be happy with the finished product. And we ARE! The carpet is a quality piece, they ordered it and installed it on the days we planned for, the total owed was just what we signed for, and the installers did a remarkable job of putting it in!! You can tell they take pride in their work. It shows... and want to answer any questions you have (even the ones you didn't know you had until they brought it up!)
