There are not a lot of options for ice skating in Staten Island, but this place does the job. The facility is a little dated and so is the rental equipment but this is the only place I know that has Jackson and Edea skates for rent, even if the leather is a little scratched up and worn. There is only one session open for Fridays/Sundays and two for Saturdays but the sessions are two hours long. While it may seem like a good deal, the ice gets pretty dead/choppy around the 1.5hr mark. When I visited, there were a lot of birthday parties being held, and once the children were off the ice, the crowds on the ice started to really thin out which was nice. There are lockers available but they do take your shoes in exchange for the rentals. read more

My kids went to you for ice-skating lessons and then my son proceeded to play ice hockey. Parking is a pain in the butt and the food stands are all closed so you're going to have to bring something if you want to eat unless you want something out of the vending machine as the vendors from the pizzeria left‍.. overall it is a nice atmosphere for children as most are involved in either baseball, basketball or soccer. The price of 10 skating lessons is priced very fair in my opinion and they also give you 9 open session passes which the children could use Saturdays and Sundays. I highly suggest it but get there early so you can get a decent parking spot read more

When we came, the line was out the door. There was only one person at the admissions desk collecting the money and answering questions. It took us about 25-30 minutes to get our wrist bands since I used Groupon and paid online. They only smoothe the ice before 2:30 and after 4:30. So within the two hours the ice may be rough Becuase of the amount of people that's skating. read more

We came here for the first time and got lucky with parking. My daughter rented Bobby the seal and had tons of fun on the ice. It was her second time ice skating. I was impressed with how large the ice skating rink was. I decided to come here instead of going to the Rockafeller center and I'm so glad we did. We went to see the Rockafeller tree and noticed how the rink was small and packed and overpriced. More importantly we got such a good deal by buying the tickets on Groupon deal. It came out to $17.80 for 2 including rentals. Bobby the seal was $15 but so worth it. There's another rink by Clove Lake but we liked the fact this was indoors. We would consider coming here again. My wife spent the time with the kids this past Saturday as part of a school event. But when she bought food at the concession stand she was charged $359.36 instead of $35.93. My wife picked up on this and obviously asked for a refund which staff was unable to do. The next day we went back and staff said to talk to the owner who was coming in "later." Now it's Monday with no resolution. Guess it's time to talk to office of consumer affairs or attorney general's office and ask for advice. read more

This place is like a second home. Everyone is friendly and try very hard to meet your needs and your budget. Coaches are awesome and passionate, I notice progress after practices and games constantly. PreK deserves praise, they taught my son skate in couple of weeks, he is showing off in front of his friends and family all the time. read more

I'm playing open hockey on Fridays ,it does not matter to me what age kids show up !!! open hockey is for fun not inclusive age wise if you pay you play , fun for all . the building is well managed and well kept new heaters for the people in the stands , a quite air handler for office staff . new corrosion proof paint on steel beams , new light reflecting tiles on ceiling and air dryers to keep humidity down on scorching hot summer days ,and the outside has had a great facelift. a great place for the hockey and figure skating community. and pro shop looks well stocked ! thank you to the owner. read more

Despite the run down area where it's located, it's actually not a bad facility. It is just down the road from a recently abandoned prison. The facility is pretty clean and they seem to be well organized with regard to their hockey program. The rink has a nice balcony where spectators can watch games. And while I've never actually seen people use them, there are rooms that appear to be used for parties. The outside of the place looks very run down, and as you drive up to it, you kinda want to just turn around and leave. But once you get inside, it's actually not too bad. My main gripe with this place is the parking, there is limited parking sports in the front and back, and no one knows how to center their cars in a parking spot. read more

My kids take group lessons here and all they care about is your money. They charge you for everything and yet when it was a snowy day, and the place was unable to open and they only gave one Sunday for make up seasion. We have other commitments and was not able to make that makeup date, they will not credit me and basically told me that it was our fault that we were not able to come for the makeup. Also prior to me paying for a session, I told them that we have booked a vacation, will they be able to credit us back for the days we will not be able to attend. They were like no and said there's nothing they can do.. I'm only complaining because each session cost me at least 75 dollars because I have three kids. they really don't care much about the kids or the family. Horrible management.. thr girl is ruining her father business. They're definitely not getting my money anymore.. read more

I decided to give this rink another shot because of the Mardi gras party they had going on. Staff was on their phones the ENTIRE time. I recently moved to Staten Island this past June. I took my son to the pavilion for hockey lessons, since he started them over in San Francisco about six months ago. I decided to put him into their development clinic, which was a huge mistake. Tommy, the coach, was incredibly rude to my 5 year old son and myself. He constantly berated him the entire class. I immediately withdrew him from the class after this. Tommy is VERY unprofessional and EXTREMELY rude. Avoid this place! read more

This place is in sad shape. The over all condition of the place and the ice hockey program. The floor around the rink itself has holes that you can easily trip on if your not careful. In the summer there is so much condensation that the ice has bumps on it from where the water dripped from the ceiling. The Thunder Hockey clinic is shameful there is one or two instructors that care but most are don't and spend most of the time texting and barking at the 5 to 10 year Olds. They most get it from the guy who runs it who pretty much does the same thing except in the office.. read more

Good place, good price, however my went with my 8 year old and was told that there wasn't any "walkers" (the helping equipment for young skaters) bc they were sold out. I went on a Saturday which is the only time it's open skate from 2:40 to 4:40. I arrived exactly at 2:40 as did a lot of parents with young children. I did observe that I wasn't the only parent who complained to management about the lack of walkers for children. This is a children friendly environment, and as it being my first time there should have been told that there were no "walkers" before paying full price admission. I was told to wait about half hour to see if anyone returns one or I should have reserved one online but as I was waiting there was a father who reserved 2 online and his were given away before his arrival. Management needs to correct this issue because if this is a family friendly place they should have all services in working order before what I'm sure is their busy time.. a weekend. read more

My daughter has been attending figure skating lessons here for two years and we really like it. The instructors are very sweet. My daughter has learned so much in the time since joined. At the end, the kids have a skating show/recital that is really well done and a pleasure to watch and participate in. Great costumes! I do have some issues with the actual facility though....the parking can be pretty bad so I find I have to get here early. Also I know it's an I've skating rink but I wish the observation section for parents had a little heat going on! The cold can feel brutal. The snack bar is surprisingly good! I love the mozzarella sticks and the coffee isn't bad. I just wish this place had an ATM because the snack bar only accepts cash. Pro shop is over- priced read more

Don't know about public skating, but I wanted to write about the drop in hockey... If you're looking to change diapers and play hockey with a bunch of 12 year olds, then this will be exactly what you're looking for. It's over crowded and overrun with little sht kids who can barely skate. The web site says 18 and over only, but management doesn't enforce it. Woodbridge is another 10 minutes away, and I highly recommend there for pick up over the pee wee pick up Staten Island has to offer. read more

Upon arrival I was completely turned off. The girl at the front taking the money acted like we owed her something. No hello , nothing. Just stared at us . So I asked for two kids tickets and she just said "30" . I gave her the money and no "thank you " or anything was said. Never cracked even a fraction of a smile or anything. No info on where to go for skates. Once my kids were attempting to skate, I asked an employee if there was anyone that could help on floor if needed. She looked at me like I was crazy. read more

I recently came here with my family for one of the holiday sessions and I'm happy to say we had a great time!! I was welcomed by everyone I had seen starting off at the register all the way to the ice. A little crowded, but the employees were all super attentive and kind and the walkers were a great help! Not sure why this place has bad reviews... I Came here Monday January 16 with my kids, very great experience! Girl behind the register was very friendly and workers at the skate rentals were as well. Workers on the ice were helpful and eager to help my kids when they fell, one worker even took the time to tie both my daughters skates and teach them some!. My only complaints are that the ice did get quite choppy very quick and took awhile for the machine to come out, when it did, it was still choppy and also the rental skates are sort of old and gross, but both these issues are understandable considering how crowded it was, won't stop me from giving five stars! Great establishment and recommending to my girlfriends to bring their kids!! read more

Great place for family fun or for kids to hang out with friends and get some exercise during a public session. As for the lessons, the coaches are all professional and caring. My daughter was in skate school, bridge and now elite and absolutely loves being here. It's our family's second home. Birthday parties are great run well and reasonably priced with energetic party hosts. The pre-school is UPK with skate lessons. Clean and safe. We just love this place! read more
