Stater Bros was always a favorite of mine from way-back. Hadn't been there in years since they aren't in Nevada. I ordered what in the past was my usual. However this time it turned out to be a long wait, and a shuffle from one deli member to another. One took my order and said she had to go in the back to start it. After much waiting when I ask another to confirm the order, she ended up being the one to make it. Not sure what went on there but needless to say, it did not inspire confidence. In my prior experience, the sandwich was made at the front counter, where you chose your ingredients and watched it come together. In the end the sandwich was delivered in a number of small pieces; I was not asked whether I wanted it sliced or whole. Again, in my prior experience, the sandwich was delivered whole unless you requested a number of sliced portions. Again this, sliced presentation, did not inspire confidence. I can't be certain but it seems to me the sandwich bread on this one was smaller than it had been in the past; I'll stop by another Stater Bros to compare, on my Trip to Los Angeles. I had ordered a 1/2 Italian and 1/2 Pastrami so maybe that had something to do with it. I know how difficult it can be for some to do mental-math and divide by 2. What happened? Did they get a new manager. The cashier was on her cell phone as she haphazardly dumped two hand fulls of my groceries into the top basket of the shopping cart. When I got home, one item was missing, and it was on my receipt. The manager did not even respond to my complaint. Albertsons is plan B. read more

Staters brothers has an excellent selection of baked bread's. The recent one I purchased was a raisin bread double packed. In the past I used to always get the olive loaf Baguette. They're very difficult to find and so I don't look for them anymore. The Bakery personnel will gladly order them or search the freezer for you too. read more

Stater Bros is now our one-stop-shop for organic and vegan groceries. It took a few years but they now carry enough to complete our shopping list. We no longer have to hit 3 grocery stores to get everything on the list. I would like to see some better cheeses like the new recipe Daiya cheeses, Kite Hill Ricotta or Miyoko's cheeses. They do carry the original recipe Daiya and the Follow Your Heart cheeses though! They also carry Beyond burgers and sausages as well as Loma Linda products. I would like to see raw cashews in the bulk dispensers and VeganToona. This location has a large butcher, bakery and deli section. If you visit the bakery with a child they can ask and receive a FREE cookie! My teenagers loved this when they were little. They will even ask if your child has allergies for their safety. The staff is always smiling, friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking in their large parking lot. read more

This store is fine from a grocery store point of view. My complaint was the number of customers not wearing face masks. Much higher than the other grocery stores in Ridgecrest. Even Home Depot was better. The management needs to enforce the rules better. read more

I was already extremely impressed with the store, staff, and remodel. Well, talk about above and beyond! I had a chaotic time finding out if someone turned in my lost gift card a few weeks ago. The assistant manager did her best to call corporate and find out info to try to help me maybe cancel before used. And then today, two weeks later, the GM, Mr Miller saw me and asked me about it and someone had turned it in! I'm very grateful! Thank you very much! After 11 years, I can no longer shop at this store which is a shame since it has better prices than the competition and is laid out in a way where I can find things. Something has happened to the corporate culture of the place. It's become commonplace for the cashier and bagger to keep up a conversation with each other and not even acknowledge a customer's presence until payment is required. But, what really made up my mind is that the most recent bagger damaged a beautiful bok choi I'd chosen by violently cramming other items into the bag. read more

Good prices. Good variety. The guy that waited on us didn't have much personality, but then again, I wasn't there to be charmed. I would have liked a little bit of a smile and something like, "Good choice." Got my first tri tip here and a chuck roast. both got rubs, both got grilled. both got eaten. Crazy, you can get a damn delicious apple in the middle of the desert, and a little bit disturbing. If you're one of those folks who's determined to eat local, then don't live in a desert. Everything is imported in. I thought about this as I perused the large veggie and fruit selection. If you do live in desert, plan on coming out at night. That's what desert people do. When the sun goes down, and its dark as pitch, folks do their grocery shopping. Or so it seemed in when we stopped by at 8:30pm. The place was packed! All kinds of desert people doing their shopping. It seemed the staff wasn't light either, indicating that they know their busy times might be in the later evening. Although, perhaps it's just because this is probably the largest grocery in Ridgecrest, maybe it's always busy? We picked up ice which they had a large coolers of at the front of the store, and we picked two sandwiches, which actually were better then I expected, and better then a Pavillions equivalent. This place is busy for a reason! + don't need to carry a rewards card + very clean store + nice meat section + customer service + eye candy + sell eco-bags for cheap + organic section for those with fatter wallets + you get to see your friends shopping + workers are constantly "facing" products which gives the store a very neat appearance + they send full color ads every few days to your home - tons of people waiting in line at Alta One Credit Union cashing their paychecks. (it's 2012... try direct deposit or use an ATM?) - parking gets really congested, moreso now with Big Lots - sometimes get harassed by fundraisers at the door - aisles get crowded, so moving a cart around can be a biznatch read more

Great store. Always clean even though you can tell it is older. Staff is always friendly. The meat department is great.

Of the three major grocery stores I'd say it's my second favorite. The meat department does stand out from the rest though.

Usually slightly higher or comparable prices then Albertsons which is the only other grocery store in this town. Sometimes lower prices on select items. But stocked very well, clean, well organized and friendly service. If you are visiting or stuck living in this town this is the place to shop. read more

Normally, staters is only on my list of places to shop when they have killer deals, the place is usually crowded and there aren't enough associates to handle the cash registers to make the experience any more pleasant. Well, this evening, as I griped needing to venture here, I found out why they are lacking in associates. They are treated like absolute crap! I witnessed our cashier-clearly has been working in our local staters a long career- receive an emergency phone call that his home was being burglarized-in progress at that-and that he was instructed to call law enforcement . He calmly continued helping the current customer and asked what would be the appropriate measure to take and a lady (wearing a jacket so I didn't see her name) was nothing short of disgusted by relieving his post while he tended to a pretty substantial emergency. He was even hesitant in stepping away from his register due to her callous demeanor. Maybe if you guys treated you associates with some compassion people might enjoy staying and working in a non hostile environment like the one sadly witnessed today. read more

One of your ladies, who pushes the carts, called the cops and the fire department on me because I stopped by your store for snacks and left my dog inside my car. She was being nasty and threatened to bust my windows eventhough they were already down and it wasn't hot outside. My dog was barking not because he's overheating but because he has separation anxiety - hence why I was taking him with me out to go visit my friends than having him being bored alone in my house. She also said it's illegal to leave your dogs inside a car in California when it is not as long as they are not being endangered which in this case, he wasn't. He showed no signs of overheating and was completely fine. When the fire truck pulled over and saw my dog and how the windows were down they said "you're fine" and then left immediately. The cops didn't even stop or got out of their car when they saw me. In the end, I didn't get my what I ran inside the store for, the fire department and the cops wasted their time. I hope you educate your employees to properly assess a situation before they make a fool out of themselves and threaten your customers. read more

Not bad for a grocery store. Prices are a little high and the employees clog up the aisles a bit.

I love to pick up meat here. Last night I got a ten pound rib roast for $50. Can't beat that price. The butchers at the meat counter were very friendly and helpful, cutting my roast down to size and packaging it up for freezing. I grab a steak here a couple of times a month and have always been happy with the quality of the meat. The store also has their own brand of food products, some of which are pretty interesting and tasty. I wish that their produce was a little more expansive, but it has most of the basics so it covers the bases for the most part. The cashier on my recent visit was extremely friendly, wishing me and my family a Merry Christmas and making sure that I had found everything I needed. It really does make a difference when a store has a friendly and helpful culture like this! :) read more

Well, it's either Stater Brothers or Albertson's in this town. Not much of a choice. Albertson's prices are out of this world and Stater's selections are mediocre at best. So, I only have the option of shopping at Stater's, price wise. They do not have many gourmet ingredients so if you want to duplicate a lot of recipes you see on TV, forget it. Also, they can't seem to keep the diary case stocked fully so you may not get the half n half you wanted or milk.. They may stock one of your favorite foods one week and then never stock it again. Their isles are narrow and they put displays in your way so you have to run a gauntlet when they're busy. They stock and clean during the day which further enhances your lack of enjoyment while shopping there. Why can't they do this at night when the store isn't crowded??? Many times they don't have enough checkers so your wait in line adds to your stress level here. Can't wait until Super Walmart opens if they ever do. read more
