I've seen this place a few times and finally got the opportunity to try it out!…read more Inside, they have displays of all their pastries but some are real, some are display only. It's very white / modern inside like a doctor's office... This isn't the kinda cafe that smells like their baked goods inside with comfy lounge chairs. There's zero prices listed on the pastries which I didn't like but from what I recall Mini tarts $3.30 Mousse $4-5 Paleta $5 which is dulce de leche mixed with meringue pieces and coated in white chocolate We got a lemon tart and a paleta. We didn't care for the paleta.... It didn't taste like anything but VERY sweet. Not my cup of tea The lemon tart had more flavor but I wished it was more tart to topping. However, I thought the prices were kinda high. I mean, sweet hut has tarts maybe the same size or slightly bigger than are only $2.50 ish. It's in a shopping center so plenty of parking Overall, they were ok but a bit more expensive than I wanted to pay & too sweet for me but I'm glad we tried

They packaged them to go with helpful reheat instructions. We tried the chicken, beef, squash and spinach. All were excellent and tasty! My husband and I split all 4 and it was the perfect portion for dinner. I love that we can eat there, take it to go for a later dinner or take them frozen. We'll be back!

Right above Sweet Octopus, Empanada House surprised me with their menu. I suppose it shouldn't have…read morebecause we're in Duluth, but they sell bubble tea here. I was curious about their tea, but there was a winter combo at the time that caught my eye more. I got their hot chocolate, traditional beef empanada, and bulgogi BBQ empanada. It was my first time having such a flaky empanada. The dough is nice and tasted good, I like that it's baked instead of fried, which I'm more used to. Out of both the empanadas I got, I would recommend the traditional beef because of the unexpected raisins that worked pretty well with the beef filling. The bulgogi was alright. The meat itself was a bit dry but the BBQ sauce helped with that. The hot chocolate was milky and great for the cold weather. Next to ordering, there's a fridge for bottled drinks and chilled empanadas. At the time, they only had beef and bulgogi, but I think it's cool that you can bake them at home at a later time. Since Sweet Octopus and Empanada House are in the same building, they seem to share seating space and the bathroom, which is on the lower floor. Food comes out fast and makes for a nice quick bite. There's one empanada that's for vegetarians, though I'm not sure if they don't use eggs for the dough, so vegans should check on that. Sweet empanadas sound good, and if I were to come again, I'd prob get one to try.

I ordered the goulash and traditional beef which came up to be around $10, and didn't take too long for it to be prepared. I brought my food downstairs, and there's plenty of tables to sit both upstairs and down. The flavor was flavoring!!!!! It was hot, fresh, and perfectly paired with the salsa they gave me!! I highly recommend if you're craving empanadas, but if not they also have other menu items like drinks and smoothie bowls. If you don't want those, Sweet Octopus is downstairs with their menu items!

They don't have a waitlist though so you just kinda gotta wait and it's first come first serve. We sat at the bar and just snatched a table when we saw someone leave. If you come here you should DEFINITELY get a mojito! They're HUGE and delicious and STRONG. My friends (who don't drink alcohol much) had a couple sips and were gone we had to walk around the square after to sober up! I got the ropa vieja and thought it was delicious! The beef was super flavorful and tender. I was a bit disappointed that they only gave two tiny plantain slices cause it was good and I wanted more. The rice and beans were pretty average, the beans were extremely plain, definitely could've been better. I would definitely come back to try a Cubano though since that's what they're known for and my friend who got one almost melted when she took a bite cause it was so delicious (I took a bite too and it really was very good!). Definitely recommend this place! I will say the service is a bit slow because it was packed but servers were very nice!

I got the Cuban with onion, tomato, and lettuce and I wouldn't get that again just get the good ole basic sandwich. I also really enjoyed the empanada. It was flavorful filling.
