Dawsonville keeps proving that great local businesses are alive and well. I stopped by IGY6 Coffee Company and immediately understood why people enjoy spending time here. Chris and his wife have built something special. The shop is clean, welcoming, and incredibly well thought out. Whether you're looking for a comfortable couch to relax, a family table, an individual workspace with power outlets, or just a quiet place to read a book, they've created a space that works for everyone. One of my favorite touches was their community book exchange. Grab a book, enjoy a coffee or pastry, read for a while there or at home, and bring it back when you're finished. It's a simple idea, but it adds a lot of character to the shop. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I went with the COMBAT CLUB sandwich (ham, turkey, bacon, swiss, cheddar, lettuce, tomato, garlic aoli on sourdough), chips, a Diet Coke, and a Reese's peanut butter cookie. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The sandwich was loaded with meat and made for a great lunch. The service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. You order and they'll call out your name for pick up when it's ready. I also got to meet Cassie, the service dog who quietly hangs out in her own little corner. She was adorable and perfectly behaved. What stood out most wasn't any single menu item... it was the atmosphere. The entire place feels like it was designed to bring people together. Between places like Roundabout Deli, Hatsu Hibachi, and now IGY6 Coffee Company, Dawsonville is building a reputation for some truly outstanding locally owned businesses. $3.00 for a toasted bagel and an additional $1.25 for (2) individual, spread your own, is funny to me. Even Dunkin will spread the cream cheese for you at half the cost. The house coffee with cream was lukewarm; almost as if the pot had been turned off. The 2 iced caramel machiattos with whipped cream, purchased for a co-worker, looked & tasted different as night & day. IGY6 in old town Dawsonville is convenient for a drive thru and it's nice to have options. The coffee is actually pretty good, but my last 2 visits, a week apart, have been disappointing for the quality, freshness and price. I will give it a whirl for a 3rd time at the new location ... the 3rd time is a charm, right?... and everyone has off days or maybe growing pains? I love this place so much!!! I have been coming to IGY6 at-least 2-4 times a month for around a year and it's easily became my favorite coffee shop, especially in the Dawsonville area. The workers are always so so kind and make the best coffee and food! The inside is small but I find that to make this place special and I love the fact they as well have a drive through. IGY6 is a gem for our small town, and I'm so glad they opened! It's a small, locally and veteran owned coffee shop with a huge heart. They do incredible work supporting other veterans, active-duty military, and first responders. The coffee is phenomenal (seriously some of the best around), and the frozen lemonades are very refreshing. You can tell a lot of care goes into everything they do, from the drinks to the service. IGY6 is a coffee shop that had been on my list to try for some time. I was finally able to go a few weeks back and my feelings after leaving were anything but ordinary. This place exceeded my expectations when it came to their coffee options. Both my husband and I tried a different latte and each was so flavorful and tasty. IGY6 also offers bagel sandwiches which were great a well. I do wish however that they could extend this to offer croissants instead of bagels as bagels are so much more filling due to the thickness of the bagel/bread. The location is quite small - only allowing about it 4 guests to comfortably stand inside after ordering. What seems to be a big appeal here for this location is the fact that they also offer a drive through option. What a great addition to historic downtown Dawsonville! I met Chris and his brother Matt one day before they had opened and they took the time to speak with me for about an hour. We chatted about their goals with this business and how it's a representation of what Jesus has done in their lives. As the logo says "iron sharpens iron". Proverbs 27:17 I used to get my haircut in this building as a little boy and it's so cool to see God's hand all over this place. My former pastor, Tommy Jean Smith and his wife, Ethel Smith used to be my barbers here. Wish I could still get my haircut for seven dollars lol. This business has a great vibe inside and the staff is super friendly and welcoming! The coffee is exceptional and they get their beans from, Because Coffee, another Christian based companyin Dawsonville. I plan on telling everyone I meet about this new coffee shop! I was looking for a cute coffee and bagel shop (not a chain). This place did not disappoint!!!! The three young ladies greeted me immediately. I told them it was my first time in and they gave me suggestions and were very patient. My hot, pumpkin latte was PERFECT and my Tactical Turkey bagel was delicious!! If you're up in mountains in Dawsonville I urge you to go to IGY6 Coffee. Good food, excellent baristas, and the owners are amazing and very involved with the community. Patrons are constantly popping in and out. It reminds me of Floyd's on the Andy Griffith show where the people of the neighborhood come to catch up and visit. I had such a good feeling getting to know the owners and staff when I frequented there. I highly recommend this establishment it is worth the ride. I came here for coffee yesterday and one of the (I believe) owners was talking about how people called out because they wanted a reason to call out and didn't acknowledge the hazardous road conditions. The clear disregard for the staff's safety does not make me want to go back. I understand that as a business owner it might be frustrating when people call out, but I feel the owner's response was not appropriate. Your staff's safety should be a priority.
