The wines and house-made ciders (local Ellijay apples!) are excellent. The Roost Bistro, features refined Appalachian-inspired dishes with locally sourced ingredients -- think fresh trout, premium steaks, foraged Ellijay mushrooms, garden vegetables grown on site, and seasonal specials. A stunning vineyard with unforgettable views -- our favorite stop of the day This was me and my wife's favorite stop on our July 4th vineyard hop. We arrived right when they opened, and the first thing we noticed was how modern, open, and beautiful the main building is. The ambiance inside is warm and inviting, and the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains are absolutely breathtaking from every angle. The patio is huge -- two levels of seating with umbrellas -- plus another outdoor area and bar near the food truck. Honestly, we could have sat out there all day just soaking in the scenery. It's the kind of place that makes you slow down and enjoy the moment. We had reservations in the dining room, which was elegant and refined, very much in line with the Roost Bistro's upscale atmosphere. The food, however, was just okay for us. My wife's seafood pasta was a bit bland, and my short rib was lukewarm and needed more seasoning. Not bad -- just not as impressive as the setting. We ordered additional wine in the beautiful open tasting room, which is separate from the dining tab. Our total came to $118. Even with the food being average, the wine, the views, and the overall experience were wonderful. Next time, we'll probably skip the dining room and opt for wine and the food truck instead -- enjoy the mountain backdrop and make a full afternoon of it. The ambiance is what it is all about. Picturesque vineyards greet you as you drive in. The main building with wine tasting, gift shop and restaurant offers incredible views and a comfortable vibe. Service, when we received it was fine... but took too long to be offered. It seems like the only avenue to finding an associate to wait on us was to get into the wine tasting queue. After too long a wait we were directed to the hostess stand and were seated at a table. We were offered bottled water, served iced water as requested then waited. And waited. And waited. Thought this was a winery? Can we order some wine? Finally our server turns out to be the hostess who recalls that we said we were starved when she sat us. The food was beyond disappointing. Everything described on the menu SOUNDS exactly like what you would like to eat.. but sadly very poorly executed. Our meals were an overcooked wagyu burger that couldn't be cut by a knife and a dry, dry, dry piece of salmon on bread called a BLT. Enjoy the view. Hope for improved management focused on a more attentive staff and a new executive chef. You will only go once until they make it worth going back for. read more

Upon arriving and entering the tasting room you can see the AMAZING views. Adorable gift/shopping area with darling things. The restaurant is super classy and gorgeous. I had a couple sparkling wines and had the seasonal flatbread. My husband had the Salmon BLT. Food quality excellent and food is superb! Super delish! Service was excellent as well! Roo Mountain Vineyard is a lovely place for socializing and enjoying the magnificent view of the vineyard. The outdoor space is perfectly designed with terracing levels. We enjoyed a flight of wines while being mesmerized by the view. They only have bar service where you order everything but they also have employees who check on you periodically to remove the used plates and glasses from the tables. They were all very sweet and personable. We will definitely return. read more

Somewhere in the mountains of Ellijay is this beautiful vineyard that I can tell is perfect at any season and any day of the week.. What's not to say about this spot. Open everyday (perfect for people like me that are visiting in the middle of the week for a random event and wants something to do) or the perfect date night.. Service was perfect: friendly and knowledgeable. Order at the counter and then find your seat. PLENTY of options for seating depending on your mood AND, if they have the space open or not. Food options are limited during the week but during the weekend, they have a full menu. I had a charcuterie board that was hardy and full of options. I also had a red wine flight that was perfect for the cold evening. Then there was the sunset. Oh the sunset.. ugh just perfect with the French jazzy music and pure tranquil atmosphere. I absolutely loved this place. I was told they have live music during the weekend and have most of the areas open as well but since it was Tuesday, it was limited. One of the best views at a Winery. We came back 3 times in one trip. The charcuterie board was amazing. Fresh honey in the comb, walnuts, crackers (gluten free available) and this really interesting mustard. Also had the Wagyu Sliders. Pro tip: get the French onion soup with it. We initially came here for the VIP wine tasting experience, which was great! There were only four guests in the tasting group so it felt like a personal tour. I believe we tried eight different wines (which included reds, whites, and rosé's). Our sommelier, Jennifer was friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgeable about the process, the wines, and the short history of Roo Mountain Vineyards. I was intrigued to know that they'd just opened in 2023. The vineyard had people cycling through and hanging out at the location continuously. The view from the patio and restaurant is amazing! You have to see it. For lunch after the wine tasting, we ordered The Turken and pasta salad. The Turken is where it's at. The bread is crispy. It holds up under weight. The turkey has a great flavor to it: the freshness of the roasted tomato adds a really good freshness to the sandwich. The garlic aoili was surprising yet welcoming. It wasn't overpowering. This sandwich paired perfectly with the pop daddy jalapeño kettle chips and pickles. The pasta salad was delicious, even more so considering that I don't care for pasta salad because it's served cold. The cashews added a texture I wasn't expecting. The noodles were cooked well and the bits of smoked turkey throughout were a grateful delight along with the freshness of the bell pepper. We paired this meal with the Gewurztraminer white wine and it was perfect. read more

We wnt to Roo last weekend and decided to try the new restaurant. I ordered the salmon BLT. My friends ordered the gnocchi with tomato sauce. I asked the server what came with the sandwich. Nothing! When my sandwich finally arrived, it was no longer warm and the bread was hard. I realized when I took the first bite and a lot of the toppings fell out, that I'd be eating it with a knife and fork. While it tasted great, it could have been better. My friends got their gnocchi swimming in what looked and tasted like Campbell's tomato soup. There was a sad little basil sprig on top and nothing else. Not even a slice of bread to dip in the sauce. Again, it could have been better. Had the food been better I would have given more stars. The views are incredible, and I love their hard ciders. The Roost may need a little more time to improve, so I may try it again in a few months. I've tried several of their wines, but most of them are not quite to my taste. It has a great ambiance and is wonderful to go on a date or with friends. For non wine drinkers they offer beer, sodas, and ciders. read more

My girlfriends and I loved stopping at Roo Mountain Vineyards. The view, drinks, and food were exceptional. We opted to sit outside in the patio area. There was ample parking and it was adults only. There were bathrooms outside and there were bathrooms inside. I loved my grilled cheese and tomato soup. That tomato soup is something to write home about. The artichoke dip was also delicious. The gnocchi was sticky and mushy and inedible - When a guest does not finish any of their food and decline a 'doggy bag' don't you think that maybe something is wrong? Apparently not. My relatives flew to Atlanta to see fall colors which don't exist in Mexico and southern Texas. They wanted to see the north Georgia area and we explored Yelp for options and decided on this winery. After reading other reviews it was apparent that we needed to arrive early in order to secure a table with views large enough to accommodate our group of 9. Parking is free and easy. We arrived at 1145am and a line was already forming. We secured two tables in the terrace with spectacular views. Food orders are placed on the lower level in a covered space with a fireplace. It was a bit chaotic with long lines. I recommend that patrons do not open a table and proactively order all food and beverages at once or else you will be assessed an automatic 25% gratuity. The lower level is the only location to order from the complete menu. I worked in restaurants and my brother is a chef. We always tip 20%, so it would have been nice to have food delivered to the table and not have to clean our own table. Patrons need to carry their own food and beverages to the table. Water dispensers are located on the upper and lower levels. I will say that ALL of our food was outstanding! We planned to spend significant time here relaxing and enjoying the views, so we ordered several sandwiches and salads, plus multiple bottles of red and white wines, plus several of the bagged chips. The white wines were our favorite and the reds a close second. My mom and I treated our family to this event and we ultimately spent $711 with tip. It was worth it for the unique views and fun ambiance. Several patrons brought dogs with them and our group enjoyed socializing with the other guests. Plan on arriving early and making your food and beverage selections in one pass. We also recommend stopping at Panorama Apple Store nearby by and purchasing farm fresh apples and unique jams, jellies and pastries. Beautifully constructed winery in a gorgeous North Georgia mountain setting! They offer a wide variety of their wines and hard cider. They also have local craft beer available by the can. A very limited food, menu exist, consisting of charcuterie, boards, two salads, and five sandwiches, all a bit overpriced. They open at noon and we arrived at 1:30 on a Saturday. The place was overflowing with people, nowhere to sit down, even though they have lots of seating. I had the Bacchus hard cider and it was awesome. My wife had one of their rosés and she enjoyed it although she said it was a bit heavy. In summary, the facility is top-notch, the setting is beautiful, their products are good, however, their pricing is too much above market, so it doesn't have enough overall value for me to return. read more

Roo is a gorgeous winery! There is tons of seating inside and outside. It was a perfect day, so we sat outside and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the mountains. Their chairs are super comfy and rock a little. You order at the bar, but friendly workers walk around keeping everything clean. They have a water station so you can stay hydrated. They had a bagpiper because it was St. Patrick's Day the following week. The bagpiper played a few songs every hour, and it was a nice treat. We all started with a tasting. I like to go big, so I selected the most expensive tasting for $38: the Collection tasting. It includes all their high-end reds. My favorite was the Syrah. After trying every wine, our group loved their sparkling rose the most and kept buying bottles. Our friend is a cider person and drank their jalapeno cider all day and took some home. Not only do they have great wine and cider, but they also have phenomenal food. We got their tasty charcuterie board and chicken salad sandwhich. We will be back for sure! read more

What a lovely Vineyard Patio Cafe! I had about 4 hours to kill on a sunny March Friday afternoon, and this was a treat. They have a huge selection of wines and craft beers, as well as soft drinks and a small cafe menu. They offer a half dozen sandwiches, cheese trays, soups and salads. I had the havarti cheese sandwich and it was excellent. The panoramic mountain view with pastoral barns and cattle is incredible. There are a huge number of very comfortable chairs and tables inside and outside on the patio. Sofa area as well. The food service was pretty fast, with pleasant waitresses. The only negative was the extremely high prices. A glass of wine is $10, and sandwiches with no sides are $15. read more

Newly opened (less than a year) but growing quickly with large crowds, the Roo Mountain Vineyard looks to be one of the hot spots in the Ellijay, Blue Ridge Mountain area. A very large open and covered seating area plus many tables and chairs open to a striking view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With a gorgeous panoramic, tasty wine ( side note, I'm not an expert on wine. lol) and live music it was the food that was the hit durning my visit. Lobster Roll, Shaved Black Angus Sirloin and the WellSummer, a shaved corn beef. All were amazingly delicious. You should consider paying your bill up front. Otherwise you have to get in the same line as orders and that's line gets long. Not sure what's that's about. It puts a damper on the whole experience. They are also building a 300 seat amphitheater and huge wine tasting room w/food. Check their web site for completion. Definitely a 5 star experience but a word to the wise. What a wonderful experience! Roo Mountain Vineyard is the newest winery in the Ellijay, Georgia, area. The road to the winery is an experience as you drive up the mountain. The scenery is beautiful. When we got there, we were welcomed by a hilly road between the grape vines. It gave me Napa Valley vibes. The rooftop has spectacular views of the mountains. If you are lucky, you can grab one of the patio sofas facing the mountains. If not, there's plenty of seating. This is an open space, and the sun is right there; however, they have a retractable roof (covering most of the space) to protect you from the sun. There is no table service, you can order your food and beverages at the tasting area. If your food isn't ready, you'll receive a number, and they'll bring it to your table. I sampled the wine flight, finding the Pecking Ordersweet Apple wine to be a delightful surprise. It struck a perfect balance, not overly sweet. My husband opted for a refreshing slushy. We also ordered a small charcuterie and a tomato basil soup. Both were great. My only comment on the charcuterie (and whenever I order it anywhere) is that there always needs to be more crackers. I can't wait to be back in the area to visit Roo Mountain vineyard and winery. During the fall it must be beautiful with the foliage changing. This is a pet-friendly winery. We took our dog, and he enjoyed it. Note: this winery is only +21 ONLY, so remember that before heading up there with children/infants. read more

This is our favorite North GA vineyard! It has by far the best view of the mountains and they also have several options of great tasting wine. They even have food options as well as beer, cider and nonalcoholic wine! They just opened up a new building that accommodates more space for tastings and indoor seating. Had we not been to Living Water winery several times, perhaps I'd give Roo a better review, but if comparing the two, Roo falls short in every aspect. Sandwiches - come with a chainsaw or be prepared to bite into rock hard bread View- it's pretty but not as nice as Living Water Venue - loud. Crowded. Meh. Wine - reds were not good IMO. Whites were decent. The flights are expensive and very small pours. Get a glass. Summary: go to living water winery. It's prettier, a much better experience, better wines, venue is more quaint, everything is more reasonably priced, live music is better. read more
