Do not get the house salad for $9. It was size of a side salad. They need to address this. If you're paying $9 for a salad it better be a good salad. They advertise it as having pieces of pork roll in it but I couldn't find any and there was zero evidence of pork roll flavor in the chowder My daughters ordered the New England Bucatini pasta and it was watered down and flavorless. Disappointing! They only ate a couple of bites and we left it behind. That's how bad it was I ordered the Ahi Tuna and asked that it be cooked rare. They served it Medium. There was no flavor to the tuna except the over use of ground pepper to coat it. Also, the tuna was tough to chew. I wonder how fresh it really was. DINNER. Honestly, very disappointing. Very inconsistent. Atmosphere looked/felt good until the place filled up and you couldn't hear yourself think. Flat iron steak was good but aged ribeye was just plain awful - at $42, unbelievably so. Shrimp scampi OK but was totally doused in sauce over mashed potatoes so it was like a soup. Much of the food (and bread) was cold. Very pricey, not for what it purports to be but fir what it is. I hope it improves significantly before I would consider coming back. read more

I have been coming to Buckalews for years and was excited to try their new place. It looks beautiful but what a rude hostess! I was late to my reservation but then got a 2nd text saying they would hold the table for 10 more minutes. I hadn't gotten there before that 10 minutes were up and was received at the door by 2 extremely rude and discourteous hostesses. While standing in front of plenty of empty booths and tables they lectured me because I didn't call them to say I was going to be late (even though I got that 2nd text saying I had 10 more minutes) and told me they had to give away our table. I said I was leaving and she said "that's okay" with attitude, which made my experience even worse. I'll never go back to either place again. read more

My husband and I wanted to try this restaurant for a while now since we Live in Beach Haven unfortunately you can't put lipstick on a pig ! We walked in about 330 on a Friday afternoon expecting to get a late lunch unfortunately the girl at the desk outside said that the waiters and waitresses we're on break till 4 o'clock to get set up which was no problem for us we would sit at the bar they told us if you sat on a high top one of the bartenders would take your order that was great for us we sat there for half an hour with people walking past us not even asking us if we need to drink a menu or what we needed at all as they serve the people at the bar unfortunately we had to leave because no one even acknowledge that we were there it was almost like we were invisible it was a terrible experience it was embarrassing and I was completely offended by the way the staff treated us we've been to many restaurants on the island for many years and have never experienced anything like this ever awful people awful service awful staff ! Well, where do I begin??? The first time we went the website said it was open - got there - a guy said not yet..... That's right - asked again - she said we don't have any menus to give - so we asked (now this is at 5:30 with less than 30 people seated all around.) WHAT???? We asked - no menus? What does that mean I asked - she said we only have so many menus to give out so we don't overwhelm the kitchen......... We could not believe what she was saying - we have eaten all over the world - and this is the first time we EVER were told they don' t have enough menus......... So I asked - about the inside room of the 3 part restaurant - she said yea go in - there is a girl there. (She never mentioned this to the people before us). We went inside - and it was almost empty - we got a seat - got a MENU - and did tell our waiter about the craziness to the outside situation. He was very nice and did say they are having a lot of issues - since they are new - now I will give them a break - because they are new - but they really need to get their act together - Alicia needs to be replaced with a young more inviting host or hostess - she was truly confused - Dinner - my husband's fish was cold - cooked but not hot! Mine was ok - drinks were fine but I will say - this was a horrible and unreal experience. I do think - the "NO MENU" ploy is so maybe you sit at the bar and buy more drinks - Maybe - who knows - but to say no menus so not as to overwhelm the kitchen - THAT IS THEIR JOB - to cook - why else are they in business - if this keeps up - they will be out of business!!! I ordered a mojito at bar while waiting for table. Hardly any mint leaves and tasted alot of club soda. Bartender needs to learn how to make a good mojito. Just OK. We stopped by on a whim Saturday night knowing it would be hard to get a table anywhere, but we've always wanted to try it. The atmosphere for this place is beautiful inside and out! People in my party commented the bathroom was nice and clean as well. When we asked for a table they said they could seat us outside but if it started to pour and rain they couldn't promise us an inside table and we'd have to take our food to-go. We then asked what the wait time for an inside table was they said they could seat us right away. Odd... Why not just ask if you'd like to sit inside or outside first? Anyways, If you've got money to spend, then you might have a great time here, but if you check the prices before you order you might not really enjoy your food. The four bacon wrapped scallops on a skewer for $18 tasted good, but probably not worth that price tag. Likewise our burgers were not bad, but were served with the tiniest side of fries. We also got a sushi roll to try and it was actually decent. The tempura was crunchy and the mango sriracha on it was unique! The roll itself was falling apart a little bit and very light on the rice but again, the worst part is that it was $19. To top it off, our server only came to the table about 3 maybe 4 times throughout the meal and didn't seem thrilled to be there. We told the waitress and she said there was nothing she could do and that "it goes in and out of the ear of the bartender ". What??!! I should have sent the drinks back. We repeatedly asked if we could be seated at one of the available tables and were told that they were kept open in order to "not overwhelm the kitchen." Once seated, we were placed at a table outside and were told that it was the only table available: This is where my experience went downhill. The table seated next to use complained that they were cold and were immediately escorted to a table inside. We then had to be aggressive with the hostess and had to ask - yet again - to be seated inside. It took being nasty (admittedly) to be seated inside in a timely matter. If you can't staff you kitchen, don't open for shop! Three stars is mostly for the place itself. Beautiful inside, great seating options of outside in the sun, outside covered, and inside. Really did a nice job creating the space and decor. Our experience went down hill as soon as we walked in the door. The hostess, an older lady, was incredibly rude. I was head hostess for many years on the island when I was younger and I would never have treated guests that way. We were all actually shocked when she walked away and were still talking about it when we left an hour or so later. Food was beautifully presented and good, but none of us left saying omg I have to get that again....except the pork roll chowder...sooo good!! Should have known better then to give this Buckalew spin off a try. The 2 * are for the decor. I understand that the restaurant is new, but to wait and 1 1/2 hrs for shrimp cocktail and chicken fingers and then get served cold entrees is just unacceptable when there are way better options on the island. I was also told that they didn't have the full amount of shrimp for the cocktail and would be comped the appetizer. When the bill came, the app was still on the bill. Alerted the waitress and she apologized and took the bill back. When she brought the bill back for the 2nd time, I was pissed that they only comped a portion of the app. I wouldn't have complained about it nor would I have even know about the appetizer except for the fact that the waitress told me she was going to take the cost off the bill. Tacky! Won't go back. Food was lousy and cold. Burger was a frozen type patty and the cioppino wasn't cioppino and was cold. it was cooked all together and was sitting on the pass. New restaurant. I'll begin with, yes we will go back. Station No. 117 has a clean look with wooden tables, high ceiling, white plates. Noise level inside is loud. Lots of seating options. Outside patio, deck which is covered, bar area with booths and high tops and dining room. Service needs some fine tuning. Hostess should remove place settings that will not be uses, don't leave them on the table. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately my main entree was ordered incorrectly so I ate after my husband was done. The bar needs to be stocked. The Cape May IPA wasn't available and they didn't have Campari. The house wine, Pinot Grigio, was surprisingly good and complex. We tried the Burrata and the crab hush puppies. Both were served with a lovely presentation, were at the right temperature and were very good. My husband had the Jersey Chowder. Very flavorful, nice portion, but we didn't see any clams. For entrees we had the Scallops Normandy, 4 large scallops served warm with an excellent sear on a bed or Risotto, very good. And the Chickpea Ramen which was interesting, but we wouldn't choose It again. read more

Beautiful restaurant. Decent food. Not good service with unprofessional hostesses. Used the Yelp wait app. Hostess said we arrived too late for our table (5 minutes after the notification saying that our table was ready, which came 20 minutes before the app told us to arrive). Soup came but no spoon for 10 minutes. Appetizer came 5 minutes before side plates. Steak came out medium well when I ordered medium rare. Check came out waiter said "no rush!" He didn't come back for another 20 minutes to run our credit card. Menu is good. Would love for restaurant to succeed but they need a manager with experience.
