My first time here was April 22, 2011, Easter Weekend, with my 18 year old cousin who wanted to go here. I didn't expect anything out of this place but when we went we sure had a BLAST! This is one of the biggest clubs I have been too. As soon as you walk in you have no idea how big this club is until you go off exploring. Upstairs is just as big as downstairs, they have a pool room where you and your friends can just kick back, relax, have a beer, play pool and watch Family Guy. I am very gay friendly so i loved the atmosphere! I got pretty drunk on the drinks! When I'm in the mood to dance, let loose, and have fun-- which happens a lot-- I know that I'll always have a great time at S4. We (I only go with a group) always get there early so we can watch the show comfortably... and if we get there early enough, we get in for free (21+ only)! : ) After the show, or halfway when it starts to get boring--if the ladies decide to do slow songs-- we make our way to the dance floor... where we will be dancing the night away! I really like this place, but I had a bad experience that is keeping me from going back! There is lots of space and different types of rooms to keep everyone happy. A relaxed patio out back is great for socializing; the packed dance floor is great for party animals; the Rose Room has a great drag show featuring amazing veterans and brave newbees; and the balcony up top is great for a smoke and taking a break. Unfortunately, I went once when I was underage and clearly had black X's put on my hands. I did NOT wash them off, attempt to drink alcohol or do anything wrong. However, my friend was celebrating her 21st and was super intoxicated. I was put on "watch duty" and babysat her all night. When she was trying to walk up the stairs, I had to carry her phone, wallet, and drink as she stumbled up. Well this bouncer comes up behind me asks to see my ID, embarrasses me in front of my friends, and asks me to leave because she said she saw me drinking! I was outraged and asked to speak with a manager, but she just kept asking me to leave. I respect that they have to do their jobs, but I found this to be a little over the top. There is not much a large dominant hot shirtless gay man population in the Dallas area (they scatter all over the place) but Club S4 is a nice central location for a pre-party, party, or post-after after party if you want to get your Madonna sing along in. The first few times I went there was some light unwelcome groping. The last time I went a guy full on forcefully stuck his hand up my skirt and touched me. I saw a blow job in action a couple times right in the middle of the dance floor. A couple of fights. I've never seen security intervene in any of these situations. S4, ahhh the memories. I remember sneaking in the back door on Halloween about 6 years ago and having my fist taste of the GLBT scene in Dallas. I will say that they have one of the best drag shows I have ever seen! All the queens are funny as hell and make a point to embarrass anyone who look out-of-place or uncomfortable! My favorite queen is of course Krystal Summers... I mean she is really confusing for a lesbian to look at! Too convincing and good looking for her own good. The dance floor is a little too small in my opinion and can be so so crowded, especially during special events. But on regular nights it is sufficient. Warning to the adults: Sundays are 18 and up.... don't go. It is just too much drama with the baby gays 'protecting' their girlfriends and the young guys trying to get attention. Go any other night to enjoy yourself. And I guess that is why I only gave it three stars because it used to be awesome when I was young but, now in my mid twenties, it just seems a little young. read more

What a fun, fun place!! I enjoyed every minute in this club! First of all its only 8 bucks to get in..cheap..cheap. Second the clubbers are so fun and friendly. Third a fun little drag show upstairs which will put a smile on your face. Overall a great atmosphere with some real fun people and just a good vibe! BTW i loved, loved the music..i'm talking about all dance all night. Too much fun didn't want to leave! Its not a super huge place but it has everything. This club is always full and everyone genuinely looks like they are having a great time. I've only been twice and both experiences with the bar tenders have been quite enjoyable not to mention they have great recommendations if you want to try different cocktails. The rose room with the drag queens makes this club stand out and the shows are to die for. They also don't have a strict dress code like most clubs which is definitely a plus. I've been going to S4 for a while now and its really fun. Good crowd and an excellent Drag show. Dancing is great, especially on holidays, three-day weekends and gay pride. I've gone several times and been very disappointed when I paid 7 dollars to goto an empty club. If they would remove the cover I'd go back a lot more. Just a warning, one of the bartenders ripped me off onetime. He charged me 40 dollars for a couple beers and mixed drink. Came to Texas to visit my friend (who is a girl and straight). Wanted to go to a gay club that wasn't full of attitude and scary for non-gay folk. Absolutely loved this place. I must say, it far exceeded my expectations. The drag show was amazing, not to mention the stage and set up was of a professional caliber (no drags on top of milk crates). There was also plenty of room to move around, a huge outside patio, balconies, and a kick ass dance floor. I also liked the feel of different rooms and ambiances, it reminded me a lot of Twist in South Beach , FL (BUT WAAAY BETTER). I was very happy with our choice. My friend was loving it and we had a blast. I would def recommend this place. I know, next time I come to visit, we will go back (knowing we are gonna have a guaranteed good time. read more

Its an alright club, music isnt the best until about 12 or 1. Between getting harassed by str8 dudes and boys and girls puking in the bathroom its really like any other club. The best part of my evening was before closing though, met a lot of interesting people.The best part of the venue is all the outside seating. This was my first time visiting Oaklawn/Dallas, so of course I was a bit skeptical. I normally don't do clubs...I'm more of a (gay)bar type person. But let me tell you, not only are the people there HOT and super friendly, the bar is AMAZING!! When we found our seats they didn't have a table so we went and asked if we could change our seats, the guy said "No" then he said "Next" so we waited behind the next person( We were the only people in line) when we got to talk to him again he said "What do you want now" and I asked if I could pay for another seat he said exasperatedly "I guess so." {{WARNING}} {{DANGEROUS}} This place is dangerous, disgusting and vial! I am taking valuable time from my day to WARN anyone and everyone who has plans to visit this place. Let me begin by saying I have been to the famous RoseRoom and had a wonderful time. However on the night of October 11th 2014 a nice time quickly changed to a living nightmare. My boyfriend and I were assaulted by numerous security and staff members here. Our property was stolen and destroyed by the "security" personnel. I am a 5 foot tall 160 pound woman I was wearing heels and a formal dress. Upon leaving this establishment after choice words between myself, the upstairs bar tender and his "regular" (a Hispanic woman) who stood much taller than I. She actually originally assaulted me and the bartender came between any further incident and I quickly walked to the stairs to leave the building abandoning my boyfriend and friends. Just shy of the door I was tackled by 2 to 3 men. I did not know what to do I tried to break free and a man pulled a baton/stick and began hitting me over the back with it. I was drug by my hair back further into the club. My boyfriend came down the stairs upon seeing this he was distraught. He tried pulling the security hitting me with the club away suddenly he was being attacked also with sticks by several guys. My sister has since told me the security was following me with flashlights saying hurry get her she's walking out. My boyfriend has told me he was drug through mud for coming to my aid. There are stick marks across his back his clothing has thick mud caked all over it and his wrist have wounds where he was zip tied so tightly. They removed his $600 Armani watch and did not return it. We have bruises and wounds from the sticks all over us. My ankle is swollen and sprained. We have documented these injuries and scheduled appointments with our doctors for tomorrow morning. I truly hope anyone reading this will proceed with extreme caution when visiting this place. I have numerous witnesses to this assault stating the seek and find mission, tackling me at the door upon my exiting, dragging me back in and beating me with clubs was an extreme over use of force and completely lacking in all morals and ethics. These people are vile disgusting creatures and I have made several attempts to contact this establishment all of them have been ignored. I always hoped I'd have the chance to go to a club that even remotely resembled Babylon from Queer as Folk, but NEVER in my wildest hallucinations did I think it would be in Dallas. Walk in, and there are three bars in sight, a huge dance floor, and stairs going upstairs to another bar and a drag show, an outdoor deck, and an indoor balcony overlooking and circumnavigating the dancefloor. There is an outdoor patio to the side downstairs, with another bar, and there's another level there too! If you walk towards the bathrooms at the back, there is another bar, and men in leather dancing on platforms and in cages... This place is crazy, and MASSIVE! May I say that S4 totally rocks - FABBB music, strong drinks, and herds of CUTE boys - and it is spread across two levels indoors, and two levels outdoors! So much space is unfathomable to a New Yorker like me. I still can't get over it. The drinks were a little pricy but then again, only by Dallas standards. The crowd was really friendly and fun and everyone was a good dancer from what I can recall, nice bartenders too! I would be here every Fri-Sat if I lived in Dallas. read more

Well I just left a harsh but true review at the place next door (TMC) and wasn't expecting much. What a surprise for a dance club but the service at the back bar was incredible granted the night was early and there was no crowd but the bartender Bobby was awesome, greeted me and gave me an incredible drink for $2.00 because she used a well spirit and made sure my drink was on the happy hour. aw, shit. s4. how many times have i gotten totally fucking plastered here? too many. i used to accompany my favorite boys here on a pretty regular basis, which i guess is why i'm basically burnt out on it at this point. plus, one time a guy here asked me if i was "all woman." and my wallet was stolen here in late 2007. but whatev. really, i'll give s4 credit. it is the mecca of trance-y gay clubs in dallas. i always enjoy the drag shows. onyx, cassie, and krystal...i love those bitches. this is the place to take your gay buds when they visit dallas, just to prove that dallas is relatively gay-friendly. at least parts of it... but don't do what i did: don't get in the habit of coming here too often, because you will quickly grow tired of it. the stress of finding parking, the weekend cover charges after 11, the expensive-ish drinks, and especially the oonts-oonts music. i still appreciate it for what it is, though, and there are some nights where my friends and i will go get drunk someplace else then decide we feel like dancing, so we'll roll over to s4 for after-hours. and sundays are ok. top 40, haaaayy! read more

Partied at S4 for the first time a few weeks ago for a bachelorette party and had SO much fun. I don't remember the last time I went out and just lived. I mean lived, partied, danced and laughed without a care in the world. All insecurities just drifted off with the music. It is so hard not to enjoy yourself here. The strippers were fun to watch whether they were straight or gay and how cool is that? This place has some poles and cages, huge dance floor, low key patio (my fav) and drag shows! Always a fan of Station 4, but the clientele has been mostly straight people and bachelorette parties. Nothing wrong with that but I like a bar that caters to the LGBT community. Though I am straight, a secret I learned early in life was that gay bars pour great drinks at great prices. So a trip to a gay bar is something that would never be an issue for me. So it was on a recent Saturday night that I was out at some bars on Henderson when someone posted on Facebook suggesting my friend and I come out to S4 on Cedar Springs. I had been planning on hitting the Grapevine at the end of the evening, so we decided to head down the street thereafter and try this place out. There was available free parking in a large lot behind the strip where the club is. We came late, however (1:15 or so), so I sense you will likely not find a spot back here during peak hours. There did appear to be a lot of metered parking on the side streets, so bring some quarters and cross your fingers. We made our way inside to a small entrance vestibule that screamed out "cover charge." If you know me, you know that I am not about the cover charge. Unless there is a band inside I want to see, this is usually a deal-breaker for me. It was, therefore, with some trepidation that I asked the young man at the door if there was a cover charge. He smiled slyly at me and said "not if you know the secret password!!" "But I don't know the...password," I mumbled, not sure what to make of this. He leaned closer to me and whispered earnestly, "It's another word for fiesta." He then looked me in the eyes, waiting for a response "Uhhhhhh....party??" His face lit up, and he stamped my hand, opening wide the doors to the inner sanctum of the club. I wandered in, not entirely certain of just what had transpired. I have read other reviews of this place where the word "eurotrash" was bandied about. I find this most apt. Keep in mind this is not always a bad thing. In any event, there were multitudinous flat-screens throughout showing an S&M-themed video of the blaring house music playing from the massive sound system. There was a large, partially raised dance area in the center which even at this late hour was packed with enthusiastic club-goers. There appeared to be multiple levels to the place, and I saw what appeared to be an outdoor courtyard in the middle of the space (at least I assume that was why there were sliding glass doors). None of this was of great interest to me. Rather, I headed for the closest bar while keeping an eye out for my friend and her husband. I sidled up to an empty spot at the counter and waited to place my order. And waited. And waited. No problem, I thought. There were numerous bars spaced throughout. I moved on to another, and walked up to an empty spot. A word here is perhaps warranted. They used a convention here I have never seen before. Some portion of most of the bar tops were "closed," by having small signs on them saying you would have to order a drink at the area of the bar indicated by the arrow on the sign. I can only assume this system was used to make sure that patrons evenly spaced themselves among the many bars, thus assuring that the tips were better distributed to the various bartenders. Whatever the purpose of this bizarre system I made sure to space myself in an area that was not "closed," and waited to order. And, again, waited. And waited. I moved on to my third bar, and waited to order a drink. And waited. And waited. Two girls came up to the bar and stood next to me, where their order for two drinks was immediately taken and filled, whereupon they jogged excitedly back to the dance floor. I literally held my hand up to my face, confused, trying to be sure I was not transparent, and asked my friend "you can see me, right??" He nodded, amused by the whole situation. But at that point it appeared clear I was not going to be served, or even acknowledged. We turned and left, leaving the secretive doorman who had played 50 questions with me earlier with a quizzical look on his face. The moral of this story appears to be that if you want a good, cheap drink in Oak Lawn, and you are straight, don't go to S4. I know I won't... read more

DON'T EVER GO HERE!!!! This place used to be my favorite club to go to in Dallas but the people that have started going are not of lesser caliber than they used to be. My friend has had his phone stolen twice and the staff actually laughed at him. After that another friend had their phone stolen in the same night. So when I actually went up to the officer that was there and asked him what was going to done about the crimes going on here, I got thrown out. So please don't give them your money. read more

The Rose Room (upstairs drag lounge) is a fantastic entertainment space. Once you have been here you will appreciate the saying that Dallas is the L.A. of the South...beautiful, plastic people. I've been to S4 about 7 or 8 times in the last year. It can be a fun place to dance but the last few times we have went there the security guys have been the worst. I have had friends kicked out of line for absolutely no reason. The security has said rude and bigoted things to my friends so to egg them on. They have even pulled me over to the side to ask if I've "been drinking" .. trying to get me to stumble or slur a word so that can also kick me out. . I am not okay with this. I love to dance but dancing at the Round Up is much more enjoyable. I would recommend anyone going to the Round Up Saloon across the street. No cover and more fun. read more
